I had read Navy Brides recently and wanted to read Navy Grooms. The books were similar in format with two short stories. The first one was terrible and the second one was wonderful. Erin had vowed to herself to never date anyone in the military. When she met Brandon, she fell for him instantly, but since he was in the Navy she refused to date him, the book went back and forth at least ten times before she finally decided to date him. The second book was much better. Catherine worked with Royce and they felt an attraction. Since they were in the same command, the military frowns on any relationships so,they fought the feelings as long as they could.
This was the raciest Debbie Macomber book I have ever read. She usually keeps her books pretty clean, which is why I love her. This book was not. The first story, more so than the second. I did like the stories, but the navy brat story was just getting old. You started to really dislike her and think she was being ridiculous. Overall I did like the stories.
For some reason I couldn’t connect with either heroine. In Navy Brat, I just wanted to throw something at her and would have given up on her from almost beginning in I were in his shoes. If she’s so anti Navy, why date a man in the Navy???? The second book was better probably 3 stars on its own but it just didn’t click. Oh well maybe another time I’ll be 8n frame of mind for these
Wow!! This book was different that other Debbie Macomber books I’ve read and not in a good way. It is Very sexual her books were always good clean stories this one is very racey. This book is divided into 2 short stories. The first story gets old quickly you see it’s about a lady being a Navy Brat, Erin vowed to never date anyone in the military after her life of being a Navy brat thanks to her fathers service. It gets old. Took me 3 months to read the first part of this book! The second part of the book was a hot and sultry love story. I really think Debbie Macomber should keep her writing as it was. Not a book I will keep and re read.
While I did enjoy the story line and was interested in all the characters, Navy brat, the first story, just angered me the whole time. I don’t mind an alpha male in a book, but combined with a weak woman who doesn’t know what she wants until the man tells her, it angered me. The Navy woman was definitely a little better but she still chose to give up her “favorite” career because he asked her too, and at first refused, but then said yes you’re right anything for you my love. Just overall weak women and damsel in distress although the second was much better.

I’m sorry but I didn’t like any of the leads. They were all wish washy and their decisions made no sense. This is my first Debbie Macomber book and she’s really popular with the patrons of my library so I will give her another shot and hope her leads are better.
Navy Brat--it started off good. A classic misunderstanding to pan out later, epic chemistry. But Brand refused to listen when Erin told him no, continually forcing himself into her life, forcing her to endure his kisses and touches, writing every day for a month, showing up at her house out of nowhere....all of this despite her telling him she didn't want anything to do with him. Because he fancied himself in love but she wasn't. That's stalker, not romance. Not to mention the amount of times the author used the word "moist" *shudder*
He tardado un monton en leer este libro, porque con 2do de bach es como imposible sacar tiempo. Y además no me lo he acabado.
After recently reading Navy Brides, I was eager to pick up Navy Grooms and continue with the series. Similar in format, this book features two short stories that offer engaging storylines and compelling characters.
While the structure mirrored Navy Brides, I still found myself invested in the characters and their journeys. The romance was enjoyable, and the military backdrop added an interesting layer to the stories. Overall, Navy Grooms was a good read—perfect for fans of Debbie Macomber’s signature feel-good storytelling.
The stories were fine and heartwarming but the women end up conceding for the men in the end and it’s so annoying. 🙄 like giving up their careers and whatever

Story 1: Honestly I was drawn to the romance part of this story. However I found both characters annoying.
Erin a navy brat wanted to forget her childhood, and treated her life almost like she had a score to settle with her dad, the navy, and men in general. She claimed to not want anything to do with Brandon, but she did, and she kind of lead him on in many ways because of it.
Brandon would say and do some of the sweetest things, like write a letter to Erin everyday (although it was honestly completely ridiculous she got one from him daily cause he lived in Hawaii and she lived inland, so no logical way she could’ve gotten mail that often), but despite his sweetness he was also a jerk. He bossed Erin around, and demanded what he wanted. I found his attitude and bossiness insulting, and I wanted for Erin to slap him and tell him she couldn’t be bossed around. I’m trying to recall if there was ever even a time he asked her please, or if even his requests and pleads were actually all demands. Honestly I didn’t like the story very much. If Brandon had been sweet, and not bossy I could over look the things I found annoying in Erin, but for me it just wasn’t a good story, and don’t plan to read it again.
My 4 stars are actually for the second story.
Story 2: I love Catherine and her resilient strong personality, she did say or do a few things I thought were stupid, but we all make mistakes. Honestly I loved her fire, her determination, her heart! She was brave, and kind. I loved her personality, and how hard she worked for what she wanted.
I also loved Royce, and his daughter. His daughter was sweet, cute, and funny, and in some ways reminded me of my own 10 year old. Royce’s love, care, inner struggle for strength, and his strength considering things that had happened in his life were all endearing qualities. When his daughter was hit by a vehicle my love for him and Catherine was complete. They are a beautiful couple, and I loved reading about their love. Royce could be arrogant and bossy at times, but I loved that Catherine always put him in his place.
Over all I really liked this story, and I will read it again!
Audio reader did a pretty good job, not the best I’ve ever heard, but not bad.
I was not wild about the stories at all. I found them to be boring , very predictable, and a bit on the trashy side. The stories being military related, I thought I might really enjoy them. There wasn't much of a storyline. I found there to be way too much making out and not very entertaining unless that is the type of stories you like. Sadly disappointed in this book.
Navy Brat Erin MacNamera has one rule: never fall for a navy man. But from the pulse-stopping moment her eyes meet Lieutenant Brandon Davis’s across a crowded lounge, Erin knows life will never be the same. Sexy, tender and strong, Brandon is all she’d ever dreamed of in a man, but he’s also navy—and as a navy brat from way back, she knows better than to give her heart to a seafaring man.
Navy Woman Busy attorney Catherine Fredrickson loves her job at a submarine base, but her new boss, Royce Nyland, has her spirits sinking fast. The icy single dad is distant, demanding…and incredibly attractive. And though he initially keeps her at arm’s length, together they brew a stormy passion that is impossible to deny. Though the laws of the sea deem naval fraternizing strictly taboo, how long can they resist romance?
This was a two-fer, so I’ll leave a review for each book.
Navy Brat Both of the main characters drove me NUTS. The story line drove me NUTS. It was basically: >I refuse to be with a navy man >but I love him >but I refuse to be with a navy man, I’ll be cold towards him. >almost having sex/nipple play/heavy petting several times…I love smut as you can see via the books I read, but it was overly done, annoying & honestly kind of surprising in a Debbie Macomber book. >break up, he shows up, make out, break up again - rinse and repeat. I didn’t care for the main characters, I didn’t care for the side storylines & the only part I cared about was the descriptions of Hawaii but even those were lacking. Also Erin’s dad AND Brand recall how “not pretty” Erin is…how rude??
Navy Woman It was a fairly similar plot line with I hate you, you hate me hey we’re in love type stuff. I skimmed through the last half of this.
The good thing about reading this book now is that it makes me appreciate how much Macomber grew as a writer. I love the way she interweaves the lives of her cast of characters in her later books. She makes me care about then Now as for this "Navy Brat" well brat is a good name for her. She is immature and pretty all around not likable but she gets all this praise for being so instantly wonderful Her groom is not much better. I am glad this was not the first book I read it may have been the last
Debbie Macomber writes books I enjoy so much. Yes, they’re predictable, yet they entertain and relax me like nothing else. This book had two stories that shared themes, portrayed navy life from the perspective of the woman left on land but it’s nice to read about men with such a strong sense of what’s right that this guides their life choices. It’s lovely to see strong, independent women who chose to walk by their side. Warm, funny at times, strong family values, beautiful friendships are all in this book: Navy Grooms.
Such a good read you don’t even realize and you’re done with the book. The two books in one was amazing, getting little details about what is to come and then being able to complete the next book right after was great. There was so much detail in the book, you could visual everything. Very well written.
Not a bad read from an early Macomber work, still had the same issues all her early works have, the females are weak and indecisive, the males selfishly alpha, but the stories had just enough to them to make me look past that, plus a bit steamier than the authors normal works!
Navy Grooms is a two-book combination by Debbie Macomber. It is a cute book about the US Navy. It makes good summer reading because it is easy to read and fun to read. You don’t have to think a lot if you don’t want to.
