When Kenley Mitchell loses her job and her boyfriend all in one week, she decides to cash in her severance pay and book a week-long trip to Florida. A relaxing vacation by the beach is just what she needs – she’ll lose herself in the sand and the sun, doing her best to forget all her problems. But on her first night there, Kenley runs into star baseball player Jake Easton. The only problem? She has no idea who he is -- until after a paparazzi camera catches her in a, uh, compromising position with the hot first baseman. Jake’s trip to Florida was supposed to be business only. He’s just about to land a multi-million dollar endorsement deal with Expera Footwear, and he doesn’t need any distractions. But when paparazzi pictures of him and Kenley surface in the tabloids, Expera is not happy. They don’t want Jake’s dalliances messing up their family friendly reputation – so Jake does the only thing he can do, and tells them that Kenley’s his girlfriend. Of course, now he has to somehow convince Kenley to go along with his plan. Kenley wouldn’t have even been in those stupid pictures if Jake hadn’t been acting like a manipulative womanizer, and so at first she says no way to his crazy scheme. As far as she’s concerned, he doesn’t deserve her help with anything. But when he makes her an offer she can’t refuse, Kenley somehow finds herself signing up for a stint as his fake girlfriend. She knows it sounds crazy, but whatever. It’ll be strictly business, right? But when the sparks start to fly, Kenley and Jake are going to have to figure out what’s real, and what isn’t. And they just might be surprised at the answer…. Baller was previously published as Heat Of The Moment.

It started with Kenley Mitchell losing her job and her boyfriend in the same week. Kenley took her severance and saving on a vacation to Florida. That is where she meets Jake Easton famous baseball player.

Kenley was mortified, what kind of person was Jake Easton, rich and arrogant. Eating at Friendly's Kenley looked up and there was Jake, after she was trying to forget him. Jake was loosely amazing broad shoulder in his pinstriped suit. The image of them kissing flooded her mind she missed what Jake was saying. Jake wanted to make up for the things that happened and how he treated Kenley. He asked could speak to her privately cause everyone knew who Jake was and it would be impossible to get a private conversation. Jake took Kenley back to his home in Florida and made her breakfast. Told her that Expera Footwear bought the photo of them and she had to pretend to be his fake girlfriend.

Kenley asked Jake how much it was worth to him after all she was jobless, in her mind the figure would be at least $10,000 but Jake blurted $100,000.00. At first Jake was shocked he stated so much but he realized he liked Kenley and wanted to spend more time with her. It was wild that he agreed to so much now they would have to figure out what was real between then or fake before it was too late.

This is the continuation of Jake and Kenley's story. At 37 pages this story just was too short for me. I won't be reading the other parts of this story. The writing is ok but I don't enjoy the drawn out serial format.

I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

When fate throws a lot down on you how do you survive that? Losing job and boyfriend makes Kenley go away for a short period. This part two of Kenley and Jakes story is well written and engaging. But it is very short. Would have liked it to be longer.
The story is pulled apart and is in too short parts. But it is a great storyline and plot. I like the characters.
