"If loving him is wrong, I don't want to be right."
An Adorkable Omega...
Ansel Anderson was only a teenager when his parents died in battle. In the years since, he's spent every waking moment studying magitech and hiding away from the world. After four years abroad, he's no longer the boy he once was. He's back home, ready to make his mark, and a mysterious voice insists that his mentor is also his mate.
A Thrill-Seeking Alpha...
Tork Davenport shoots first and asks questions later. But when his best friend dies in battle and leaves an orphaned son behind, he fulfills the dying man's request to take care of him. When Ansel returns to Darkvale, however, Tork begins to see him in a way he never has before--not just as a boy, but a man. Too bad such a mating is forbidden. As a terrifying new revelation shakes Darkvale to its core, can these two men find solace in one another?
Can they harness their forbidden feelings and save Darkvale once and for all?
The Dragon's Forbidden Omega is the third and final book in the Darkvale Dragons series. Each book follows a different couple but should be read in order for maximum enjoyment. This book contains mpreg, knotting, giant robots, masquerade balls, and an age gap relationship between a disgruntled mentor and his protégé. Connor Crowe grew up reading stories about dragons, magic, and adventure. He often liked to imagine himself as a character in those stories, and as he grew older he began to write some of them down. He couldn't just write any old fantasy, though. As a die-hard romantic, he tells stories of men finding true love amidst adversity.
When you read a Connor Crowe book, you know you're getting action-packed fantasy mpreg that will make your heart race in more ways than one ;)
3.5 stars rounded up to 4 This third book in the series was a bit uneven as IMO the author had issues with integrating the romance aspects of it with the fantasy plot aspects. Due to this at times in felt like both aspects were rushed and sometimes incomplete. Also it meant the switching between the two was not smooth at times. Despite this I thought the story itself was awesome and I loved Tork and Ansel a lot. this book was more like book one which I felt was a diamond in the rough than book two which I felt was dragon perfection. Overall this was still an enjoyable read, just not as good as I know the author can do.
Rating this 4 stars(crying for the half stars) bcs there was finally a war, not that I like wars, but at the least the plot went somewhere. We still have many unresolved things and many things that I wanted to know, like for example where did all the guys that were sent to the sacrifice go? were they all killed? Did they become a sacrifice for real or they mated with some dragons? If is the last case, for sure with a Dragon Tribe that we still didn't meet. I'm not usually a fan of huge age gap, and here we had almost 23 years btw the MCs, and since the author didn't explain to us if these Dragons have an extended life span or live the same as humans, I'm not sure I liked the idea of Ansel being with someone so much older than him. Still they were a good couple and they also worked together, but like all the others books, the story goes too fast and the couple not really has much time to be together before there is a pregnancy and they have to focus on the kids. I would have liked more world building and many explanations and more focus on the couple as lovers not only parents.
The author wrote that this trilogy ended, but that other stories related to these books are gonna come soon, and I'm curious about book 4, but if not even that is gonna explain something more, then Idk if I'll keep reading the series.
This one was definitely my favorite in the series! I didn't notice nearly as many spelling/grammatical errors in this one as I did the last, and I felt like the plot was a bit more cohesive and better flowing than the previous stories, too.
This story has it all - alpha/omega, mpreg, age difference, not knowing who the other was during their first meeting and time together (ooh, I love that!), and romance. I love that once Tork finds out that his mate his Ansel, the son of his best friend who he swore to protect and care for, that once he got over the initial shock and disbelief, he was there for him.
There are a lot of fantasy elements in this - sorcerers, magic, it all kinda has a steampunk/LOTR vibe to me with the enemies the dragons are fighting and the mechanical weapons they are fighting against. Really enjoyed this one and I look forward to what's next for this author!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The Alpha Dragon promised his good friend before he died that he'd care for his friend's adolescent son. He made good on his promise then the young man went on to University. The Alpha was instrumental in discovering and figuring out the gas traps and other dangers left behind in Darkvale by the sorcerers. His young protege -smart, eager, and clever- happily assisted in the underground lab.
An unexpected encounter had them both questioning their behavior and feeling guilty about a secret rendezvous. An attraction between two consenting adults though May and December felt forbidden / wrong because of their previous platonic guardian relationship. A magictech crisis called for all hands on deck, including the fighting warriors who needed the technical assistance of the scientists.
This book though mpreg was full of danger, action, adventure, clashes, skirmishes, caring for the injured, needing to use all of their wits to counter the metalmen crafted to hurt the Dragons. The pregnant Omega in this story was just as tough as the Alphas he fought alongside.
I like the continuous story line that runs through these and I love the world.
Overall they're a little shallow, and a little...short?
I dunno. I was entertained, but not blown away. I feel like the series story arc is a little rushed and incomplete, but all things being equal, I loved, loved, lurrrrved the world-building and the twist on the dragon/sacrifice mythos (book one), and the alpha/omega for all species aspect.
There are different spins on the second-chance romance trope, a mild taboo trope that could have been more angsty, and a magic-meets-tech twist that I thought was ingenious but underexplored.
There's mpreg here as well, so if it's not your thing, you might want to skip these titles.
I'd have liked a bit more meat on the bone, so to speak, but the series as a whole (so far) gets a 3.5 rounded down for the slightly salty, mildly disappointed factor.
Series conclusion. At a masked ball, an older Alpha encounters a younger Omega in heat, only to later discover his identity, which makes it awkward for both. The robots attack the dragons. Typos: almost every (I counted seventeen) question mark and exclamation point, and even a comma, are followed by sentence fragments (e.g., "To strength! The crowd echoed"), laid used for lay ("I laid awake"), me/I confusion, incorrect end quote punctuation, missing apostrophe ("the things face").
This whole trilogy was beautiful! From the relationships to the scenery. The battles had me so on edge, the plot was straight to point, no rodeos. And oh my god. Everything was so perfect, and cute and... I would totally reread this in another time for sure. You get dragon-shifters, and on going war between races and territory, romance, tension, suspense, but of plot twist, lots of action and a bit of spice. I don't know why I waited so long to finish this. It was truly amazing!
Well I am sad that this series is over but hoping that we are not done with this world, maybe something with the kids? I loved that Tork did not dwell to long over who Ansel was & what their past meant. It was good to see everyone working together to defeat the enemy. As with the rest of the books, I would have liked to have seen more of the children.
This book was my favorite one of the series, but I still wanted a little more drama. The battle at the end was great, but I wanted more scandal in their relationship. Like everyone was super chill with them being together. I kind of wanted them to have to sneak around a little in the beginning. Anyway it was still a fun read. Really want a story with Elias.
I picked up the first book in this series on a lark at a used book sale. I quickly fell in love with the authors storytelling, the multi-dimensional characters, and the rich Darkvale universe. Fans of paranormal/sci-fi and M/M romance will find a gem with this series. Highly recommend. Easy to ready in an afternoon or evening.
