What’s wrong with my butt? She means those words to be directed toward the woman beside her, not him. But he can’t stop himself from answering. Not when her ass is the most magnificent thing he’s seen in his life. Apparently, answering her with ‘not a damn thing’ wasn’t what she was expecting. She likely wasn’t expecting the baseball she took to the face at his next at bat, either. All it takes is one ill-fated foul ball, and George Hoffman, Lumberjacks center fielder, falls head over heels in love with Wrigley Field—and yes, that is her real name. From that point forward, George and Wrigley fall into a fast whirlwind love that ends with them eloping to Vegas. And he has his potty mouth, titty bar owning, pain in the ass grandmother to thank for it. Not that he’s complaining or anything. Who wouldn’t want to be married to a woman that made his heart race like he was in the final game of the World Series? The only problem is trying to convince her of that.

George is a famous baseball player, a red-headed gorgeous mountain of a man. The tabloids love him, the fans love him, and pretty soon Wrigley is in love with him. A trip to Vegas, a lot of drinking, George’s sneaky, outspoken grandmother, and a whole lot of love have these two getting married Vegas-style. And everything’s fantastic. Wrigley gets pregnant, they welcome their beautiful baby into their lives, and all too soon, their lives are shot to hell. Family loyalty and a refusal to make things better have these two on the outs and divorced.

I’m no expert on all things LLV, but this was the most angst-ridden story of hers I’ve read yet! Here were two people who were very much in love and happily married, yet they got divorced due to unforeseen circumstances, stubbornness, and an unwillingness to admit wrongs. My heart broke for both characters because they were not only suffering needlessly, but they were still so in love despite their separation. They made so many mistakes in their quest to make things work, making each other hurt in the process. It didn’t help that the media was so involved in their lives, making their efforts that much harder, sometimes sending their progress out the window. But I loved that they didn’t give up. I loved that even though they weren’t together, they still had each other’s backs and were still very much involved in each other’s lives.

George and Wrigley were real and raw and broken and silly and over-the-top and hard NOT to fall in love with. This story was drama-filled and full of heart. With its amazing cast of supporting characters, I can’t wait to discover what’s next for this series.

ARC BOOK REVIEW
Release Date-20/7/18

This was the second book by this particular author I have read and out of the two this one I enjoyed slightly less.
Saying that this was still a good read that was easy to follow and though slightly annoying at times with all the turmoil still kept my attention.
This is a sports romance typically Baseball; being from the UK I don't really know a whole lot about this sport so I did actually find that quite interesting.
So this story features George Hoffman, the Lumberjacks centre fielder and Wrigley Field; what a name ay.
And the Events that transpire after he manages to knock her out with a ball to the head, Ouch!
What follows is the most amazing and at times ridiculous antics that these to face overcoming hurdles that stand in the way of there own personal road to a HEA and all that jazz.
So I knew as soon as these two started to succumb to there emotions it was all going to go to pot.
With how instantly life fast forwarded on them it was a foregone conclusion really.
The road to that coveted couple-dom is always going to be rocky when it starts out so easy.
Just didn't realise exactly quite how angsty things were going to get through; these two were seriously like a runaway train with no obvious destination.
Humour, Misunderstanding, heartache and crappy family combined this was like some modern day carry on film.
I actually really liked the style of narrating here but was a bit less stoked about the huge time jumps; to me, they felt a trifle out of whack and disjointed at times.
Making me almost lose my place in the order of events to come.
I felt like we almost sacrificed the getting to know you stage where we build up a picture and understanding of the couple itself for unnecessary angst and drama.
I would have been so much happier with a simpler tale with more emphasis on the earlier emotions rather than the dramatic theatrics.
"Quit My Pitchin" played out in a very rom-com style and at times was extremely entertaining to spectate.
I did like both Wrigley and George and was, of course, rooting for them both all the way.
Told in dual POV this was at its heart an enjoyable experience.
Happy to recommend this one especially if you like a more relaxed style of narration.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of "Quit Your Pitchin' (There's No Crying in Baseball, #2)" of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions are entirely my own.

I have really enjoyed this author's work. For the most part, I've loved her books. but I haven't had very good luck with her most recent books.

I had high hopes for this one. It's been awhile since I read book 1, and while I remember the story I don't remember all of the secondary characters. So it was like meeting George for the first time. I was okay with that. Because sometimes secondary characters don't always translate well into their own book.

I loved George. It's as simple as that. I have no complaints about him whatsoever. I wish I could say the same for the rest of the book.

Overall, this book just felt a little clunky to me. I don't know if it's because of the time jump, or what, but it just didn't flow.

I'm not opposed the time jumps, they can work really well when done right. but in this case, I didn't feel like the time Jump was necessary. I would rather have seen Wrigley and George's relationship from the beginning. And we did get that, but then at the most dramatic parts, we were told and not shown. We did not see them deal with her sister's accident. We did not see them have problems and fight. We didn't see them get divorced. And for me, I felt like I was dropped into a story at that point and that I should know exactly what's going on but I didn't. And I was quickly given a rundown of what had happened that I had missed and seeing as it wasn't years and years later, I feel like I should have gotten to experience that with them instead of being told about it after the fact.

I'll be perfectly honest, I didn't blame George at all. I am really angry at Wrigley for how she reacted. I get wanting to stick up for her sister, but she chose the wrong person here. It wasn't like her sister just tried to shoot her husband. He came home, and went to check on his toddler son and walked into his son's room and saw his sister-in-law standing over his son with a gun. Then the sister-in-law turned the gun on him and shot at him. I don't think it's unreasonable for him to be concerned for his son's safety. And it really angers me that Wrigley didn't have the same concern for her own son. She was denying that there was anything wrong with her sister but the simple fact that her sister was standing over her son with a gun, in the middle of the night, should have been a red flag for anybody.

Overall, I found this book to be disappointing and that's sad since I've been looking forward to more of this series for a long time.

Lol so the H kissed another woman alone in h’s apartment because he didn’t want to be rude??? I was hoping for an “it isn’t what it looks like” explanation at least, but no they actually kissed bc he didn’t want to seem rude. I hated both characters in this, which is sad bc they started out great, then the time jump after waking up married happened and that completely ruined the story for me, among many many other things.

3.75 ‘Second Round’ Stars

Oh my Lord, the ANGST!!! Lani Lynn Vale put my heart through the wringer with this one!

Everyone that knows and follows me, also knows of my addiction to all things LLV, and I have to say that after the perfection of that first book in this series, Pitch Please – if you haven’t read that you need to, STAT – I’ve been anxiously and impatiently waiting for this book. Well, I can say that George and Wrigley sure surprised each and myself right along with them!

“Hello,” I smiled. “I’m sorry.”
She smiled back. “Sorry for what?”
I pressed lightly on her forehead, right above where the swelling was starting, and said, “For hitting you in the face with a ball.”
She moaned. “That’s gonna suck the next few weeks.” she frowned. “I’d say I’d take your balls to my face any time you want but…I have a class for battered women tomorrow. This is going to be hard for them to look at.”

With the most unconventional – but surely impactful – first meeting, these two’s love story was a whirlwind of emotion and angst filled events. Wrigley Fields – yes, that’s her name, and wait until you read her siblings’, lol – ,not a fan of baseball, is dragged by her younger sister to watch the Lumberjacks game, where Furious George is playing. From the moment they locked eyes they were attracted, what they didn’t expect was the George’s odd ball would be the first thing to make contact with her.

He was beautiful, kind, thoughtful, and overall a really great guy. Plus, he had a beard.

I’d witnessed my first home run ever, and I was officially addicted to baseball.
Or maybe it was the man.
I didn’t know.
But addiction was in there somewhere.

With a smoking hot bearded ginger giant I’d be hooked for life too. Specially with those tight baseball pants! Who can resist a handsome man in those?!

I loved how George was so open about wanting her and wooing Wrigley from the get go, and from that moment it was full speed ahead, marriage and baby, and what it seemed to be an HEA.

He was my hero.
Seriously, all I did was worry, and all he did was reassure me.
We were a match made in heaven.

But no, something happens and we find these two divorced for eight months, but still very much in love. So we have a time jump, and normally I don’t mind them, but here it should make the story Arc a bit strange – specially given we jump the separation and are just told what happened – and it seemed very un-LLV. George is alone, away from his love and his baby boy, and I hurt for him SO bad. I could feel his pain, his frustration, his helplessness, and was seriously mad at Wrigley for allowing the past event and her stubbornness and pride, to keep them apart.

I used to be tame. I used to be able to control my temper…I used to be happy.
Now, I wasn’t.
Now, I was worse than before I’d met her.
I was lost.
I was broken.
I was alone.
And worst of all, I didn’t want to be found.
Not by anyone but her.
I was simply existing.

I was going to have her back.
In my home. In my bed. In my life. And I was going to get back into her heart.

George was absolutely perfect in this first half of the book, he had the patience of a saint during those eight months but then all of the sudden BAM, he had the most idiotic, and one of my personal peeves regarding separated couples that it’s clear that still very much in love – I couldn’t believe not only his approach and how he dealt with it and the series of events and media repercussion – but also his carelessness of how much it would her Wrigley. True, the separation and divorce was her fault, but with the way he went that it completely made me forget her blame and become seriously raging mad at him, and it’s a shame because I had such high hopes for him (with the perfection that was Hancock and how spectacular George was on the first half).

“You’re beautiful, and not a day will go by that I don’t find every single inch of you captivating.”

“I’ve regretted my decisions for a really long time now. It would make me the happiest woman alive if you allowed me the chance to rectify my poor choices.”

In between that initial media and OW drama, and horrifying disaster that had me crying , they ended up supporting each other, and finding his way back together, but the media, and George mistake snowballed in a way, that had me fuming at him! Wrigley had all the right to be beyond mad, and that last OW drama scene – that seemed out of the blue, and made no sense, and contradicted the whole background of both characters, more like a plot inconsistency/error, that I hoped it was fixed – , as well as his explanation, sadly tainted the whole story for me. Even more so because his senseless explanation and its close proximity to their ending, I felt a bit disheartened, because I truly adored the first half and their story had such great potential, with all their background and the motive for their separation, as well as their families, they had a LOT going on, so the unnecessary OW drama just a step too much. Fortunately, after all this rollercoaster we got to see their beautiful and much anticipated HEA.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Lani Lynn Vale truly pulls to all my emotions, that is for sure. I laughed, I cried (yes, I was literally gripping my seat when the disaster happened and I was transported to Shock Advise’s heartbreak), I swooned, I raged, and I just soaked in all the words from start to finish. Ms. Vale has the gift of gripping us in from the get go, and making us live through all the feelings the main characters are going through. And with the amazing cast that we have in these Lumberjack’s team – btw, I ADORED the tiny bits we got of Hancock and Sway! – and I wonder who she will gift us with next. Maybe Gentry?! Manny?! Gunner?! I don’t know, I just know I need it NOW!!! <3 <3 <3 <3

“I think we’re two peas in a fucked-up pod.”

Let me start with I abso-freaking-lutely love and adore George!!!!! With a nickname like Furious George you would not expect him to be such a loving, emotional, amazing man, but he is! Sexy, gorgeous, sense of humor, devoted…just all together swoon-worthy! He’s almost too good to everyone, including his horrible brother and sister. Wrigley, I have a feeling she is a heroine people are either going to love or hate. I liked Wrigley; did some of her actions irritate me? Yes in the beginning, but then we get a look into her mind and all the emotions she is going through because of everything that has happened in her life before George and then all that happens with him in basically about two years. He knocks her off her feet; literally, they get married, pregnant, the incident with her sister Diamond, and her douche-y brother Dodger, it’s a lot for anyone to go through.

George and Wrigley have some major hurdles to overcome and it’s not pretty most of the time, but George never gave up on his love for Wrigley. My heart hurt for both of them through most of the book, I could feel their connection and the internal hurt each were going through. Thank God for George’s Gram, she knew they were meant to be and never gave up on trying to make sure they got back together.

As much as I love George and Wrigley’s story, I did feel it was a bit choppy. I felt like I was getting snippets of their lives and not seeing as much of their actual relationship develop. Maybe it was the multiple time jumps throughout or maybe it was the length of the book, I can’t put my finger on it but I felt I was missing something.

Quit Your Pitchin’ is a funny, emotional, it’s about passion, making mistakes, learning to forgive and the undeniable love between two people who are truly meant to be together.

Quit Your Pitchin' is the second book in the 'There's No Crying In Baseball' series by Lani Lynn Vale. Having read the first book in the series and several other novels written by Lani Lynn Vale, I was thrilled to start this novel. I'm a huge fan of baseball and having baseball incorporated in romance novels is a huge attraction to me! Let's face the cold hard truth, I'm a 1-click whore when it comes to baseball romances.

Quit Your Pitchin' is Furious George and Wrigley's story. First off I want to state that I loved Lani Lynn Vale's play with names throughout this book. Wrigley, Dodger, and Diamond how freaking cute is that for sisters and a brother! I loved it. Epic and pure genius.

George and Wrigley's story is a whirlwind romance. I feel for George and Wrigley's romance all throughout part one of this novel. There were moments that made me smile and moments that made me laugh so incredibly hard. I couldn't get enough of Wrigley and George's 'mishaps' during games. And George's Grandma was freaking epic. Everything about part one is a must read in my opinion.

And then part two happened and the darkness set in. due to the fact that I didn't read the blurb and went into this novel completely blind, I had no idea what I was getting into. I feel like a whole part of this story is missing. Part two is a complete 180 with emotional whiplash attached. To be honest, I didn't really care for the second part of this story, I felt Wrigley was too wishy washy when dealing with her feelings for George. Maybe if a chunk of the story wasn't missing i would have more clarity on a more emotional perspective.

When a novel states it's a standalone in a series, I base my review solely on the book I'm reading and not the series as a whole and with that being said, I felt like there were a few holes in this novel. A few key points that may have been missing. For example, and without giving away spoilers, I would have loved to see the Diamond 'issue' involving Micha and George in detail. That would have been a great opener for Part two.

Now thinking about it, I'm wondering if maybe Lani Lynn Vale has other plans for that story line.... hmm.

Overall, I loved part one of Quit Your Pitchin' but sadly part two was just okay in my opinion. I however do plan on reading the rest of this series as she releases more books.

Holy time jumping 🤯

Major parts that really could've made the book were just glossed over.

Who/what/where/when/why/how did they get married.....?
What grandma just "accidently" married them and it's never mentioned? Or grandma was there and set them up? Both of them were so black out drunk they BOTH don't remember anything but they are both okay with it?

*BAM* We're divorced/baby.... I mean...
🥴😵😵‍💫

If I choose to not want to know more or why for major plot points then yes, this was a decent book. If you are a curious brain and must know answers or reasons for things that happened- go ahead and skip bc this one will leave you irritated.

Review by Lisa Kane

Wrigley Field (yes that is her name) is at the Lumberjacks vs. Strokers baseball game. She no fan of baseball, but her sister Diamond (yep that's her name) is and so she's here. Miserable, but here.

One player catcher her eye-Furious George Hoffman. He's tall, red haired and smokin' hot. She seems to have caught his eye too.

His teeth were straight and white, and his eyes were a bright green that shone like shiny emeralds.
And he was staring straight at me.

George is one of the best in the league, but you can't always control where the ball is going to go-case in point-the ball hits Wrigley right in the eye! He can't get to her fast enough to make sure she's alright.

Passed out. Not dead. Good.

Thus starts a beautiful relationship. George finds out a lot about Wrigley. Tracks her down. Starts dating her. Things move quickly. I'm thinking this is a sweet sports romance.

This story is told from both POV's. It's also broken into two parts. I hadn't noticed that when I first saw the chapters. Why two parts? Be prepared to have your heart sliced into little raw pieces in part two. Remember how sweet the first half was? Those days are over. Things moved quickly and I could barely keep up.

"You're giving up on us. Maybe I never really meant anything to you at all."

There is a third Field sibling. Dodger Field. (yep, that's his name) He's a sports reporter and the most despicable excuse for a brother. Man, I just wanted this guy to take a ball to the face himself!

One of the things that I most enjoyed about this story, besides the angst, which I adored, was Wrigley's appearance. She's curvy and not a stick figure. She's beautiful but probably doesn't fit what society's expectations of the perfect woman's body. I loved that-I loved that she could stand to lose a few pounds, and that George couldn't give a rat's ass about any of that. He loved her just the way she was and I loved him for that.

This is actually my first read by Lani Lynn Vale (gasps...I know right??) but I like her sassy style and clean writing. The characters mess up, make stupid mistakes, but own up to them. Her dialogue is spot on and she doesn't waste a lot of time with inner thoughts. They speak their mind or have a good reason for not putting it all out there. Plus, I do love when my heart goes right for my throat and it physically hurts to read the words. Perfection!!

"It's not easy loving you," he informed me.
I bared my teeth at him. " I never told you, you had to love me."

Just one little comment...the guy on the cover is hotter than July in Texas...but he's no red head.

The story doesn’t exactly match the description ...

Mostly love books from the author, this story will be a miss for me not a hit. Strike 1 I was REALLY enjoying the story, many good laughs up to the 40/43% mark and boom. Story took a turn. A strange turn. Went from quirky fun to ugh depressing and not making sense story wise. I do wonder if I had known the story was ment to take this turn would I be more excepting of the plot twist? Maybe.
Spoiler (they got divorced. Like why? Too real, or too stupid I can’t decide.) Me No Likey this plot twist. Took the whole story to resolve it.
Strike 2- they are divorced with no one making an effort to overcome this BUT THEY LOOOOOVE EACH OTHER. Ugh. FOUL. Then he wants to make her jealous, uses other woman. One who loves someone else on his team, as if things aren’t bad enough let’s add ketchup to the hot dogs and mustard to the fries. He gets caught kissing her, the other woman more than once and has the foul balls to say- well she’s getting her father to donate a lot of money to your grandmothers charity and I didn’t want to upset her by turning her away...(but wait, I thought they were fake kisses, why would she be hurt then? Ugh!!!!)
Strike 3 why does the child need to be brutally and graphically injured for the parents to come to their senses? What did the kid do?
I would like to add, extra innings of more fouls and strikes in the form of relatives who don’t get their comeuppance. Lack of poetic justice.
So, to sum it up, there is crying in baseball when I don’t get my romance. And yes I cried watching a League of their Own as well. I’m a crybaby. Wa. And a bootyholehurt reader/reviewer. I feel tricked and bamboozled cause I LOVED this story when I thought it was gonna be sweet lol silly me. #BallsToTheFace

LLV's books have always been a comfort read for me. When I read them I always get to fall back into her world of alpha men and sassy strong women. Unfortunately, this book didn't do it for me.
Wrigley and George's book was very odd. The story ARC was choppy and I honestly just did not like the heroine. Throwing in drama in a story just for dramas sake is aways bad idea for a writer.
I'll still read the rest of the series because hello.....I'll always love Lani and her books. This one just not so much.

Ok so...I was a wee bit disappointed in this book😔I hate to say that because I totally LOVE everything written by Lani but I felt this book was rushed for lack of a better word and I don’t think that the character arc was as developed as in all of her other books. This pains me to say the least.
That said, the book got better for me in the second part then took a nosedive because of Wrigley and then by the end I was quite happy.
George is the most upstanding male character I think I’ve ever read. He is just the “good guy” who would do anything for anyone. I think Wrigley took advantage of that and when she made the choices that she made...well she pissed me off and it made her look like a complete idiot! I loved their baby and he added so much to the story. I wanted more I guess and although it had my HEA it just lacked that “oomph” that is in her other books. I loved the secondary characters and hoping that the sister Diamond gets in a book somehow! George’s grandmother made the book for me! She was hilarious!!! 😂She spoke what was on her mind everybody be damned! I always love when we get a new book from Lani and I did like this one it just wasn’t one of my favorites.

I'm a bit torn with this one as I loved George and the romantic relationship but I don't think the book layout, with the time lapses, worked very well as you get told some important scenes rather than shown them and that made things feel rushed and half-arsed to me.

A hilarious #RomCom set against the background of Baseball. The team is Lumberjacks, the player is sexy Ginger -Furious George Hogffman and he manages to hit the girl in the stands with the ball a whopping three times! What're the odds?

description

That's kismet for Wrigley Fields...yup that's her name . She's got brother Dodger Fields and sister Diamond fields( Lmfao) and brother is a douchebag. Sister is delusional. The oddball cvouple begin their story with her sporting a black eye and him asking her out and pretty soon she's puking her guts out.
I won't tell any more of the plot.
It's written with so much wit and humour, I was laughing throughout except when that thing that happened when that boy that was doing that thing with her.....#YannoWhatIMean!!!!
Lani has a wicked sense of humour, writes at breakneck speed. the story is just whizzing fast like a hard hit ball during home run.
George is swooooonworthy alpha, sexy hot ginger with a beard 😍😍 despite them both having a shitty family
I was not a ride or die kind of man. I had questions. Where were we going? How long would it take to get there? Who was I allowed to bring along with me? Was I allowed to have snacks? What kind of car was I driving? Who was going to be on there when we arrived? Things of that nature. I’d always been like that.
He's hilarious with his nonstop questions
Wrigley really irritated me, her dumb "run now ask later" attitude was really annoying. And George had the patience of a saint !
All in all, I really enjoyed reading the book .

Yikes.

I’ve loved this author’s previous works. She writes amazing love stories that aren’t cotton candy sweet, about people who have struggled and have to fight for their love. I was really surprised about this book. It wasn’t near the quality of previous books, had pretty immature writing in some parts (ex. some conversations between H/h were what I would expect from teenagers), and the H pulled some pretty douche moves in which weren’t explained very well to h when he “apologized,” if you could even his weak explanations as apologies, and I felt h forgave him too easily. Sure, he was upset about her leaving him, but inviting another woman out on a date to make h jealous when he realizes she still loves him? Then continuing to invite this other woman out to the charity event? THAT was fucked up. And he can’t understand why h would be upset about walking in on him in the midst of a kiss with this same other woman?? Sure, the other woman was innocent in this scenario but he created the situation by using her to begin with. Yeah, this was fucked up and really disappointing. I should have stopped when I got to the point where he invited the other woman out when he realized his ex-wife was still in love with him. Really, really wished I did.

I really liked how smitten George was right from the start with Wrigley, loved how he pursued her. They were so sweet together. I loved how George's Gran helped move along their relationship and how both embraced the changes. It was not long after that things went downhill for me. The drama, so much drama, all of which could have been dealt with had they taken time to calm down and talk. Instead they said and did things that hurt each other. Sure by the end they managed to work through things, but they didn't have to go through that.

This was interesting. I had read the first instalment of this series, There's No Crying In Baseball, Pitch Please, and loved it. It was a great introduction to another style of what Lani Lynn Vale can do other than her MC romances/Romantic Suspense that i completely and utterly fell in love with.

So, of course, it's no surprise that i had to get my hands on Quit Your Pitchin'... because, well, it's Lani Lynn Vale. I mean, this is one author that i don't think about and immediately one click when my bank account isn't screaming at me that i've already busted my already significant book buying budget. There was something about this book that didn't have me give this a 5 star review - don't get me wrong, it has everything that i love about this author: humor, suspense, characters that i immediately connect with. But there was something about the romance between these two, or maybe it was the way that the storyline was developped that had me wondering if i skipped a chapter or a few paragraphs, but it was a bit jumpy. At first it was me, so i spent more time going back and rereading passages, and then i got confused, and figured again it was me since it was 11.30 at night when i jumped on this book.

While i still love these characters. Love this author. And absolutely love her books, this will be a book that i will need to reread in the future to see if my option changes - which with luck and more sleep, it will. Otherwise, my review still stands as is, but still with huge thumbs up, because quite honestly, just because my addle brain couldn't keep up, doesn't mean that someone else won't love it even more.

Or maybe because it's baseball and i'm like Wrigley - couldn't even begin to start understanding how it works unless i'm dating the batter and getting beaten up by the fly balls... who knows. I'm totally using that excuse!

George Hoffman and Wrigley Field, the hero and heroine of Lani Lynn Vale’s newest release, Quit Your Pitchin’, seem like a match made in baseball heaven, except for the fact that the heroine doesn’t know the first thing about the game of baseball, which is a bit of an issue since George is a professional baseball player for the Lumberjacks, but while Wrigley can use a ‘Baseball for Dummies’ book to acquire some much needed insight into America’s past time, neither she nor George has the power to control the media or his fans when it comes to their relationship and their issues being plastered all over the Internet, which is definitely a point of contention, especially due to how quickly things happened between them and how much chaos Wrigley’s siblings bring into their lives.

Things between George and Wrigley heat up extremely fast, which means they quickly move forward with every aspect of their relationship and for this reason,
it was difficult to get my bearings on one situation and then have to keep moving forward to another one when I hadn’t fully understood the repercussions of the previous one, and because A LOT happens between them and as a result of other people’s actions, I needed more information, deeper insight, and more indication of why everything affected them the way they did.

The media/fans’ aspect of the story was absolutely necessary, and it was realistic, even as disgusting as it is for people to do the things the paparazzi do and the things fans say about people they don’t truly know. With social media as rampant as it is nowadays and the freedom it seems to allow people’s nasty inner critic to come out and freely share things that should remain unspoken, it’s not easy for professional athletes and the people they care about to not be raked over the coals for even the smallest on incidences.

The secondary characters are quite the contrasting group. George’s grandma is a hoot and I like how she tells it like it is. It’s easy to see how much she adores her grandson and how proud she is of him, and her relationship with Wrigley is something that Wrigley desperately needs and despite the less than stellar events that occur, that bond remains in tact. George and Wrigley’s siblings are complete asshats who seem to use the pair more than help them, and while George and Wrigley’s constant support of them illustrates the fact that they are good and compassionate people, I wanted George and Wrigley to wash their hands of the users, especially those responsible for making things between the couple so much harder than they would have been if these blood relatives would have had their own act together.

Furious George definitely lives up to his nickname, especially when things go to shit between him and Wrigley, and while he does make some mistakes along the way, Wrigley seems to be the more stubborn one of the duo, which makes their lives extremely difficult and it also makes for one frustrating and unpredictable journey to what readers hope is a happily ever after.

Haaa, what a fun book to read this afternoon!!!

Quit Your Pitchin' is book 2 in the "There's No Crying in Baseball" series. They can definitely be read as standalones, but OMG I am loving them soo far!!

This is Furious George Hoffman's book and boy are you in for a treat. George is the Lumberjacks center fielder. He has won the Home Run Derby 3 years in a row and has one of the highest batting averages in the entire major league.

But Wrigley Field—and yes, that is her real name, has no idea about this players stats. Hell, she has no idea what any of the rules are much less how they even play the game. She is just there with her sister so she will just hang out and have some fun.

That is until Furious George spots her in the crowd and then almost knocks her lights out. George comes running to the rescue and he falls head over heals for this beautiful girl.

Y'all the banter between these two was soo much fun. They end up having some EPIC shit happen to them and of course it kept me turning those pages to find out what kind of mess they were going to get into next..haha

I gave Quit Your Pitchin' 5 iScream "Vale hit it out of the park" Cones. I am such a sucker for a sports romance book that I just sit there and have that goofy grin on my face while reading!!! lol Thanks for another awesome read Lani!!

Ahh… batter up!

I love this author’s ability to take a whole bunch of unlike minded people, throw them together, mix things up with alternating strife and harmony, and let the chips fall where they may. There was a lot of mixing and falling as Wrigley (Wrigley Field, isn’t that the best name ever?) and George burn, crash and burn some more, in spectacular fashion…

“That moment when you realize it’s your girl yelling at the ump.”

From their very first, unique meeting, Wrigley and George knew something sizzled between them. The banter was brisk and funny, the heat between them so hot you could feel it. The time from sizzle to “I do” was quick but things soured so quickly it was hard to savour the moment. They were apart, neither was happy about it, but the path to reconciliation was super bumpy… Anger, resentment, sadness. I ached for both of them as they struggled to find their way back to each other. They were human and the mistakes they couldn’t seem to help making, meant they kept moving backwards more often than not.

They couldn’t seem to catch a break between one crisis and the next. I was mesmerized to my kindle screen, making sure popcorn accompanied this deliciously, over the top drama. Another emotional roller coaster of a read that had me clinging to the safety bar the whole time. So good!

Quit Your Pitchin by Lani Lynn Vale
“Baseball romance, 3 stars”

When George met Wrigley he wanted to know her, then he got to know her and fell, everything about their love story was a whirlwind. They made each other absolutely crazy in the best kind of way. One thing was for sure though, they loved each other and then it all fell apart. Will George be able to win her back over or did they burn out?
Wrigley’s life has been an interesting one. Aside from her sister she’s never really had someone who is loyal to her and willing to stay. Then she meets George and they move fast. She knows she loves him but is she willing to stick around when the going gets rough? Or will she be one of those that walks away before even trying to fix the problem?
I enjoyed the whirlwind aspect of Quit Your Pitchin. But there was a point where the story basically fell apart for me and that was during part two. The way the story was written made it feel like they hadn’t been married long when tragedy struck but we know they had been married for quite a while. They should have had a foundation by that time but didn’t and I found that hard to believe.
Compared to other stories of Vales this one fell a little flat for me personally. I don’t enjoy a whole lot of misunderstandings and that’s basically what this story was, a miss understanding after another. If you’re into a story that is like a road full of switch back turns, then this may be the one for you.

SHOOKITH!!!!!

Where the hell do I start with this?.

I luuuurv a good sports romance and Lani does not disappoint.

"Furious George Hoffman" earned his name in the game by taking no prisoners when swinging his bat.. pun definitely intended ;). 6&half foot of tall defined red headed yummyness you better believe that man is pure sin. Cheeky banter, smooth talker, confident and strong with a side of sweet. He hits every nail on my perfect book boyfriend list.

Wrigley ... I fucking love that name!. Sweet girl she is a hot mess in all the best ways. Parts of her remind me of Cheyenne from Boomtown but a little less forward. I loved that she just went with the flow and felt instead of overthinking the situation in the beginning. Easy going, sweet with a good dose of fiesty I found her to be super relatable as a character.

Wow their story didnae pan out how I thought it would. I did not see some of that shit coming and I kinda maybe a little (lot) hated Lani for some of it. It was a love hate thing because it was brilliant but also sucked balls. The chemistry was straight up there from the beginning. I loved how they started out and the whole whirlwind romance. I laughed hard at some of their crazy antics and cried my eyes out at the heartbreak. I was team Wrigley & George from day dot believing in their connection and rooting for their happy. Suspenseful, dramatic, heartbreaking, relatable, funny and sweet... this author NEVER disappoints but she sure as hell takes you on a emotional journey.

Another great addition to this series. A refreshing change up to her usual style but of course with her signature stamp. Seamlessly written, characters with depth and growth. A plot that has more turns than a turkey twisler with the emotion capacity to hit you like a fright train. Yup this ticked all my boxes. And the two part thing? Genius! I don't want to give any spoilers so just take my word for it.. expect the unexpected.

This is going to be a hard review. You see, I LOVED the first book in this series, Pitch Please, and this second book had me hooked right away. However, the romance/story moved really fast, and before we were even halfway through, it took a really, really sad turn. And then, it just seemed to keep getting more depressing! So many bad things happened to George and Wrigley, I had a lot of tears with this one. In the end, they still got their HEA, but it was an emotionally wringing story. I'm glad I read it. I really did like George. But Wrigley's family, especially her brother, well he sucked. And her sister, well, it was hard to decide on her. Because when I say it felt like it moved pretty quickly, there were some parts of the story that we only got a quick retelling from the characters about what went down, and I think I'd have liked to have that more fleshed out in the story. If you enjoy sports romance, especially with hot baseball players, you need to read this series. Just prepare to cry with this one.

I liked George and his grandmother but I wasn’t too fond of Wrigley. I wasn’t crazy about the storyline either. It started out so cute then just went into a direction that left me puzzled and sighing with frustration. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think it's... What I'm trying to say is that it's not bad story, it just wasn't my fav book from this author.
It has some aspects that I love in books, but the way they were implemented wasn't for my liking.
I wanted to throttle Wrigley, when I learned the reason why they broke up, and then how she was chickened to fix what she broken. Seriously, I was wondering why George just don't move on and forget about woman, that so easily let him go. He was supporting and patient.
And while I liked George, he wasn't reacting well in some situations later in the story either. On the other hand, he was lashing out, maybe because his life wasn't peaceful for a while now, and he just tired of being hurting.
And the way the story ended.... I kinda didn't felt that they solved the problem for their marriage. They were happy but it kinda felt like it was band-aid.
And probably I was more annoyed that at the end SOB people wasn't teached a lesson.
