I'm a bit of a craft book junkie and the blurb on this book for the writing period it teaches was interesting enough for me to buy it. I'm a bit on the fence. The way the book is structured, it's very disorganized. I am by no means a writing novice and some of the things she advocates in this book gave me pause, like the three Vital Questions in a romance being the same for both the hero and heroine. That can be the case, but it is by no means a necessary feature for outlining a decent romance novel.
The author uses her own set of lingo for writing terms, but it wasn't always explained right away what she meant. She gives an example of an outline of one of her own books at the end, but I would have liked to see more examples sprinkled throughout the book, and preferably examples from books she hasn't written herself as well. At one point the author makes the assumption that the reader has at least written already one book, which I thought was a bit weird; it doesn't say anywhere that this method is for advanced users only, so that came a bit out of nowhere.
I know my review comes across of as negative, but I did get some nuggets of wisdom from this book and it did gave me some ideas I will use when I start outlining my next novel.
