Blue eyes, sensual lips and a heart-stopping grin—those are the first things girls notice about Cooper Maverick. If they are like me though, the next thing they notice is how much of a jerk he is.
But he has to be the sexiest man alive, and there is no stopping the fast beating of my heart whenever he’s near… whenever he speaks in that deep, Southern accent of his.
But I hate him—really, really hate him.
He’s the most arrogant man on earth, and the only thing stopping me from getting that promotion. Everyone knows I deserve it, everyone except for him it seems.
Whatever. If it means getting the job I know I deserve, I can try to go along with whatever he says for a while.
Smile and nod for a while. Do the job with no questions asked, and do my best to ignore all the rest.
Although it’s going to be hard to ignore him when he starts using that deep, deep voice.
And if he keeps taking a starring role in those recurring naughty dreams I’m having, ignoring him is going to be damn near impossible.
He’s my enemy.
He’s also the only man my body has ever seemed to want so badly…

This is a cute story. Although it's not a big enemies to lovers story TO ME. That's just my own personal opinion. I liked Violet and it took a bit to like Cooper but I got there. The family is fun and you really do fall in love with Cooper's family.
This is the first book I have read from this author. Once I started it I couldn't put it down until i had finished.
It was a gripping enemies-to-lovers story. The banter between Cooper and Violet was brilliant to watch. The tension between them is palpable where they don't want to admit their attraction.
I will certainly be reading more books from Lexi Aurora.
Would have scored higher but, oh my goodness, the H was wishy washy! He practically gave me whiplash with how his feelings about the h went back and forth. The weirdly flirtatious older ladies and his responses were a bit icky to me too. It never said one way or another if any of them had been together. But it all gave me a “Mrs. Robinson, you’re trying to seduce me” vibe.
I enjoyed the book. The characters seemed to meld well together and even with the conflict, I loved how they finally came together in the end. Nice to see a 'not so perfect' bodied heroine for a change also!
Don't be too quick to judge this hero- things may not be as they first appear in this spicy, angsty little enemies-to-lovers read by Lexi Aurora.
Violet Ingrid has worked very hard to earn her position as the assistant to the CEO (and board member) of the New York based Maverick Ad Agency, Dirk Jasper. Dirk is an unkind man, and he decides to demote Violet when he offers her position to the daughter of his friend. He assigns Violet to become the secretary for Patricia, the head company manager. Patricia treats Violet as little more than a housekeeper and errand girl, instead of the capable woman that she is. She instructs Violet to retrieve board member Cooper Maverick from his hotel for a meeting after work one evening.
Board member Cooper Maverick is known as an arrogant ladies' man who has been avoiding the New York offices. He inherited his shares of the agency from his recently deceased father, who warned him not to trust Dirk or sell his share of the agency to him. Cooper is entertaining his usual "type" of woman (tall, thin, and beautiful) at the bar of the hotel when Violet arrives. Even though Violet doesn't fit within his "type", and their tempers clash, he finds himself drawn to her.
Cooper refuses to sell his share once again to Dirk and Patricia, so Dirk decides to try a different plan to get his way. He appoints Cooper as head of the Texas branch (formerly run by Cooper's father), and plans to sends Violet along. Dirk promises Violet a promotion if she can convince Cooper to sell his share. Cooper happens to overhear the end of their conversation, and is furious with Violet, even though he is still fighting his attraction to her. She has no idea that Cooper is on to her, and is fighting an attraction of her own, while assuming the worst about him due to his erratic behavior. Cooper brings Violet to stay at his family's Texas ranch, and as Violet gets to know his family, she begins to see a different side of Cooper- one that she can't resist. Will Violet still be able to convince Cooper to sell his share, even when she discovers that it may not be the best thing for him to do? Will Cooper be able to forgive her for lying to him?
This was actually quite an entertaining, well-written little story. I enjoyed the snappy dialogue, and the angsty chemistry between the characters was believable. Cooper's mood swings were a bit too sudden at times- I felt like I was getting whiplash from the constant back and forth of his emotions. I really liked that Cooper took care to convince Violet that he loved her body exactly as it was- having a curvier heroine added a more realistic feel to the heroine. I liked being able to see a different side of Cooper's character at the ranch- his relationship with his family really helped him to become a fully fleshed-out hero.
Overall, this was a fun, quick read that held my interest. I enjoyed it, and I look forward to seeing what Lexi Aurora writes next! I received an ARC from the author, and I voluntarily chose to write an honest review.
i read this book as part of an arc program. This was the story of Violet and Cooper. Violet worked at an advertising company and was demoted in her job, she was asked to go with Cooper to Texas and try to convince him to sell his shares in the company without him knowing and she was promised a promotion if she succeeded. Cooper was a board member of the company that his father started and he promised his father he would never sell his shares. When Cooper learns that Violet is being sent to convince him to sell, he decides to have some fun with her and takes her to his family's ranch. Cooper makes Violet work on the ranch and soon she has a strong dislike for him. Cooper is attracted to Violet and the more she fights with him, the more he wants her. Cooper doesn't let on he knows about the real reason she is in Texas with him and the more Violet gets to know Cooper, she learns he is really good to his employees and family. Violet soon feels guilty about why she is there and she has to decide if she can go through with it. I liked this story, I thought Cooper was a really good guy and he really liked Violet. I think they were good together and both just needed to trust in the other. Good one.
Violet works for Maverick Advertising for Derek her boss. But she thinks she getting a promotion for all her hard work, but finds out she got demoted and has to work for Patricia. Cooper Maverick is on the Board of directors and knows that Derek and Patricia are trying to get him to step down and sign over his controlling stock to them. Derek tells Cooper he has to go to Texas at the other branch of the company with Violet to check out the facilities. Violet is coerced into going to convince Cooper to give up his stock with the promise of getting her promotion. Not knowing that Cooper heard everything. He acts like he doesn't know but he slowly changes his mind as he slowly is attracted to Violet. He takes her to his family farm and puts her to work helping around the farm. She doesn't mind helping but he sometimes rubs her the wrong way and they argue. She doesn't take any crap from him. Great story of two strong people that are falling in love but also don't want to get hurt. Read as they find each other and they separate because of misunderstanding. But both are stubborn but are miserable being apart. Great story
A very well written story with nice storyline and plot. It is very captivating from first to last chapter. The characters are likeable and well described. They develop nicely through the story. This is a story of great length and that gives the characters a depth that cannot always be given to their personalies in shorter stories. The story flows so well of the pages and I could not lay it down.
I like it is written in dual POV, which gives the reader both the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. That makes the story even more emotional and captivating. The twists and turns are so unexpected that they made it worth the read.
Characters that have an amazing chemistry and are very passionate. But an issues parts them and they have to find their way back. I liked the most about the characters that for once the heroin is not taken out of a magazine. She is not perfect and that amazed me! Because who is? The story has a lot of tension because of secrets and trust issues. But Cooper and Violet has a lot of attraction for each other. Can the lie part them or can they manage to help each other and make the best out of the situation?
Wrong Job by Lexi Aurora ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Violet Ingrid loved her job at the ad agency and was working to move up the ladder. Then, Patricia happened and messed up her plans. Now she had to go to another office and do some duplicitous work against the company's possible game changer, Cooper Maverick, with whom she was traveling. Can she get him to finally sell his shares in the company? Ingrid did not like Cooper for all the bad things she'd heard and believed about him. Cooper knew Violet was there to spy on him, he just didn't know the scope of it. As good as Ingrid is, it's surprising that she would buy into all the subterfuge. I like Cooper as the lazy playboy, he's much more than they all thought. A good story with a hidden heart of gold. It's a huge reminder that we can always tell a book by its cover, and to make your own opinions of others. I voluntarily read this Advance Readers Copy for an honest review.
I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review. Violet never knew her father and she lost her mother to cancer at the age of six. She grew up in foster homes. She put herself through college and was working at an advertising agency. Her boss Dirk demoted her and then sent her on a mission to persuade a stockholder to sell his shares in the company. Cooper did not want to sell. He had promised his father. Went Dirk sent Violet to Texas with Cooper, Cooper was hard on her and made her do farm chores before he took her to the office. All the while they argued and fought their attraction to each other. Little did they know what the future held for them. I loved reading this story of Cooper and Violet. It was dual points of view and it was easy to relate to the characters. It was well written and was full of personality, lots of chemistry, passion and doubt. An excellent read.
Wrong, or just right? Wrong Job by Lexi Aurora is one of those enemies to lovers stories that grabs you straight away. I was drawn to both Cooper and Violet because of their backgrounds and/or roots. It was clear to me that they were made for each other, they just had to get past all the mess that the two of them created (with some help as well - guilt and threats!). Their chemistry builds throughout the book until they finally start to realize neither is as awful as they other thought, then their chemistry consumes them. Cooper's family is a wonderful part of his and Violet's story, sometimes funny, other times a much needed smack to the back of Cooper's head (so to speak). Overall a well written story that I enjoyed reading to discover this character couple's HEA. I voluntarily read and Advanced Reader Copy of this book to leave my honest review.
Excellent romantic well written story because of the arguments and relations between Cooper and Violet. She has to convince him to sell his shares of the enterprise where she works, but she has to hide her goal. What she doesn’t know is that he overheards the conversation between her and her boss and so he knows everything before she even starts. When they go in Texas for the enterprise, he lead her to his family ranch and then he’s quite hard on her. Because of their attraction and the secret between them, we can feel the tension between them, how Cooper just tries to avoid her and how Violet is struggling with her job and her attraction to Cooper. It was really excellent. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Violet has been demoted from her job and the only chance she is given to move back up is to convince Cooper to sell his shares in the business. Even though he's good looking he's a complete a hole to violet so how hard can it be? When they end up spending time together the chemistry is to mix to handle.
This book is told from duel POV from violet and cooper. It's well written and I enjoyed the storyline. It is an office type romance but the story is more unique than most bos/employee plot lines.
The characters are well written and I enjoyed the interactions with coopers family.
If you like love to hate romance I would highly recommend this one. And it has a happy ever after
I've heard it said that it's a thin line between love and hate, and Violet and Cooper do an incredible job or walking the line in this enemies to lovers romance. They really dislike one another at the start, but the chemistry between them really sizzles. I completely enjoyed the push-pull between them as their relationship grew. It's great to get to know both Violet and Cooper as the story progress, which makes the hard parts that much more impactful. It's fun and touching in places, and absolutely heartbreaking in others. I adore a good friends to lovers romance, and this one is one of the best. I highly recommend picking this one up asap and giving it a try. A+++ This is a voluntary review of an advance reader copy.
This was one amazing and quick read. It is filled with ups and downs and all kinds of in-between's. Violet had the job she has always wanted, then her boss demotes her and she starts working for another exec in the ad agency who basically uses her to run errands instead of what she should be doing. Then things change and the bosses want her to work with the other boss, Cooper and decided if he should keep his share of the business.
I will leave it at that even though there are lots of other things that happen and I could go on and on, I do not want to ruin the book for you. You really need to read this awesome book.
A well written, fun, quick read that's well developed, has snappy dialogue, passionate chemistry. Dirk wants Cooper, a lazy playboy, who inherited his shares, to sell his shares in the company. Cooper wants no part of selling. Violet is working hard at an ad agency to get a promotion and keeps getting shafted. Dirk sends cooper and Violet to Texas and promises Violet a promotion if she can convince Cooper to sell his share. The story has a lot of tension because of secrets, trust issues and misconceptions. It in written in dual POV which I love. So many unanswered questions keeping you captivated through the end. I voluntarily reviewed this standalone ARC.
Violet is a casualty of nepotism. Her boss decides to reassign her to an absolutely horrid woman, who makes her job unsatisfactory. Her bosses then coerce her to persuade Cooper Maverick into relinquishing his stake in the business. Reluctantly she agrees for fear of losing her job. Violet and Cooper get off to a bad start, and proximity does not ease the animosity. However during their many skirmishes they each see admirable qualities in each other, while grappling with intense attraction. How they resolve that pesky fact that Violet may be working against him, is what made this story a fun read.
4.5 Stars! There is Cooper who is a owns a ranch and also is part owner in a company that his father left him and also told him to beware of. Then there is Violet who has been tasked by her boss to get Cooper to sell his shares of the company. She is sent to Texas with Cooper to work out of a branch there. There is good banter and the story pulls you in. Lots of heat and good character development. This is a good one click. Enjoy!!

Well, Violet… This job is not exactly what you expected. And as the days go by, you are less and less inclined to fulfill the expectations laid out by the people who sent you here… Because Cooper isn’t exactly what you expected, either. Is he? And both of you are finding out the truth about first impressions… And jumping to conclusions.
You’re falling for him And his wonderfully crazy mixed up family… And… Would it be so bad? Well, there are those chickens…
What a delightful, mixed up mess of miscommunication! Bottom line: Sweet, sexy, wonderful romance! 5 stars.
This story flowed along very quickly and easily. A good story line. The two main characters were actually quite funny at times. The romance was lovely and the sensuality was steaming hot. There were three other characters, the Mom and the two sisters, who were well developed as well. The one sister, Abigail, was a hoot. I can see another novel arising about her. Loved the strong sense of family that was imbued into this novel. Great read. I highly recommend it.
I received an advance review copy and I am leaving an honest review.
I received this book as an ARC. This story literally ignites the pages with two fiery characters fighting for dominance. They are like two metals rubbing against each other and emitting sparks. Of course we know that fires can be cleansing and lead to new growth which is exactly what happens when they are able to air their differences and find all they have that will make them live happily ever after.
Violet works at an advertising agency and gets demoted to have her job open for a friends daughter. Her boss wants he to go with Cooper to help at the Texas agency. Also to spy on him and get him to sell his stock that his father left to him when he died. They fight but get closer until he finds out she’s spying on him and he sends her away. She reported to her boss and gets fired. What will Cooper do now, sell or go talk to Violet? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This is a pretty enjoyable enemies-to-lovers romance. I actually liked it more than I expected to, with its unexpected turns.
Cooper & Violet were believable as a couple, and their chemistry was hot. The secondary characters enhanced the plot well, helping us to see a different side of the Cooper we were first introduced to in the book.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
This was a great enemies to lovers romance that will grab your attention right at the beginning and keep you interested until the end. The characters were well developed and likeable and the story line entertaining. Lexi did a great job with this book and know you will enjoy reading it as much as I did. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.
Yet again Lexi Aurora has written a beautiful steamy read that captivates the reader from start to finish. This is a wonderful story that pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the end. The book is fast-paced, the writing is fluid and easily read in one sitting. It is a standalone book with no cliffhangers. I received an ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.
Violet and Cooper heat up the pages in this amazing story. Lexi Aurora knows exactly how to build the tension of their attraction to each other while not trusting each other due to a business transaction. I loved being able to see the ranch through their eyes. Gotta love them Texas boys!
This is a very good, entertaining romance. The storyline is well-written, engaging with defined characters who are determined, have chemistry and integrity. I liked it. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
This is a well written story with likable characters. It is an intriguing fun quick read that will keep you interested from the start. The characters have amazing chemistry. This book won't disappoint. I recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Entertaining, as every Lexi Aurora book I have read has been. Love - Hate, Misunderstanding, erroneous assumptions. Hilarious family meddling. Hot and steamy in parts - sweet and tender in others. HEA - all the loose ends are tied up. Stand alone story. 100% enjoyable
Good to read a story where the h Violet, isn't a skinny model size beauty but the H, Cooper is still a hottie. They find their HEA on his family farm while he builds a new business and she gains a large family that she never had as an orphan.
