** This is the first book in a completed series and ends on a cliffhanger
E.M. Jaye is a romance and adventure author with four published books at this time. The True Immortal's Series is based on ideas E.M. had in her early pre-teen years. Characters and personalities were formed in her head while she would make up stories to herself late at night.
Her childhood home is full of notebooks with short stories filled with the characters who later evolved into the heroes and heroines of her books. She grew up loving books and the escapes they provide and hopes that her books will help you escape for a while as well.
She dreamed of writing a book for over a decade, but being risk-averse by nature, never pursued it heavily. Then fate intervened, and the only logical next step was to finally give in and let the words escape onto the page. She took the Indie route and is still learning and growing as an author.
While writing (which is always), E.M. can be hard to find but never fear, she always surfaces eventually and responds to any questions or comments sent her way.
Thank you for supporting this Indie author and as always, Happy Reading!
Imagine a world destroyed by the Erain's, a race from another planet, with most of the population gone. A few hundred years pass, and new societies spring up around the modern world, ‘Nueva'. The concept of old earth has dissipated into the war of the past. To save humanity, they created ‘Claiming Day' to gather all single women between the ages of twenty to thirty years old to a ceremony claiming one woman each year. The Gelders hadn't chosen a woman in twenty years since the last claiming leaving the confused citizens to question the ceremony that is shrouded in mystery.
How would you feel if you were picked to be a mate to someone you have never met even if it was to save the planet as you know it?
A twenty-something, name Ellie, had just secured her independence and the claiming couldn't come at a worse time. She doesn't want the responsibility of saving Nueva, but it is mandated that all shall comply.
Danian, the King of the Gelders, has waited several decades to claim his mate since no one has the essence of love that sparks his emotions and need to bond. Ellie had no clue, but Danian knew from her birth that he would claim her as his queen. Nothing was going to impede his passion for his soon to be bride. Will Ellie and Danian seek each other or will it test the very fabric to save humanity?
I enjoyed Ellie's journey of unwanted love and Danian's desire to bring her into his world of power. The passion, the animosity, the overwhelming and intense love, the betrayal engulfed my senses and transported me to another world. Ms. Jaye is a wonderful and talented storyteller with a vivid and creative imagination. Her characters are bold, strong, independent and full of life that beckons you into their world.
I must say, the ending made me upset due to the cliffhanger, but I am incredibly excited to read the next installment in ‘The True Immortals ' series. To be continued: The journey of Ellie and Danian!
I liked the concept and the overall summary made me super excited to read this book. However, in the end I was not that excited. There were many grammatical and punctuational mistakes. There was also poor developed sentence structures all throughout this book. There was also many scenes where it was info dumpy for their alien customs and world. The male in this couple was like wayyy to abrasive for me. Like he claims that he will protect her and will do nothing to hurt her, but he does that constantly?¿ Also I didn’t think it was necessary to end the book like that...? The only reason I bought the next one is because I somewhat like the main character female and want to know what happens to her.
I had picked up the first book a while back on sale cause it looked interesting. Sat down today and devoured the first book then bought the rest of the series and finished them all today. I enjoyed it and I hope she continues the world so we see their stories continue.
What a fabulous book. I highs enjoyed this book. I was captivated with the characters, plot and the setting. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. She has a talent of bringing her readers into her world. Highly recommended.
The only thing that more frustrating for me as the reader is a too be continued in the next book. Yet, even though I am drawn to read the next books in the series , I may not because last book will not be out until April 2019. I need that closure! As the plot thickens I am drawn towards seeking the answers. The first book should have ended where the second book revile ended. That would have done it for me to buy the second book. Hopefully I will remember this series when the last book comes out . Probably not, too far away. I noticed that most of E.M. Jaye's novels are Series books so that's it for me. Don't get me wrong the book is good , I personally don't mind series book if it is complete and can be read alone. I should have realized before I started it, it was a to be continued..... It was a free read and I enjoy reading new authors that I haven't read before.
I like this novel so much, I ordered the second book in the series so I can keep going with the story. I am liking the characters better now that I have finished the first book. In the beginning, the two main characters were rather childish for two who had such important and heavy roles to play. They more or less grew up as the story progressed. I like them better now and so I began to care about them enough to keep going with the series.
There is a lot of world building that was nicely done and set the scenes with complete clarity and seemed very natural as a stage for this science fiction novel. There is a strong indication of a noteworthy adversary a bit later on in the book. It is a mystery who it can be and carries the suspense along introducing another note of urgency.
I think anyone who enjoys this genre would like this story and how it is crafted.
Another one for my C-R-A-P (Can't Read Another Page)
An excruciatingly painful, annoyingly repetitive tale about a twenty-year-old woman being used as chattel yet again for alien protection. The story concept is nothing new in the alien genre, and the grammatical errors are overwhelming. The story is written in the first person, and as per typical, there are way too many "I's" and "my's." My optimism that The Claimed Queen would be a decent if not enjoyable read because of the author's thoughtful consideration in providing a pronunciation and definition guide at the beginning of the story. I was only able to make it to chapter three before The Claimed Queen hit my delete file.
In any written piece of work, only a handful of authors know how to paint a picture that immediately draws the reader in, and E. M. Jaye never disappoints me. In less than one chapter, I was right there with the characters and the setting. I felt as an unseen guest, able to see, hear, taste, smell and touch it all. The narrative starts strong and keeps moving at a fast pace, making it easy to get lost in the story and enjoy every minute of it. The characters are well developed, and the setting works perfectly for the events as they unfold. I adored the pronunciation and definition guide included in the first pages, personally I believe it is time saving. Fans of mysteries and thrillers, like me, will enjoy this read and all the twists and turns that come with it.
It’s been twenty years since Gelder last paid the fee for their salvation: choosing a young woman on Claiming Day. Yet, the day has come for Elli to be claimed. From the beginning of the story, I met this twenty-year-old girl who is a bit scared but hopeful and confident about her future role. Eli joins Danion, the Warrior King who claimed her, and both get involved in an adventurous quest to save the galaxy. Action-packed and full of engaging scenes, The Claimed Queen is a really entertaining story with surprising twists that prevented me from putting the book down. What I loved the most is how author E. M. Jaye successfully described the setting. I can’t wait for the next book of the series!
I like the idea of relationships that are built on compromise and understanding. While the two main characters struggled significantly with this throughout the story, I found that their connection seemed to feel more real than just a part of a story. I wasn't able to feel much of a connection or a bit of relatability to either of the characters, though I liked that their uniqueness brought them together in a way that was unlike anything I've read before. The premise was of great quality, but I felt as though the character development lacked a bit where it should have been exponential. The scenery depiction was well done and gave a straightforward vision of what the author was presenting.
The Claimed Queen, book number one in The True Immortal series, written by E. M. Jaye, is very captivating. The central idea for the plot is great; so as not to be erased from the world, many years ago people allowed their women to be claimed every year and this time is the turn of the protagonist who unluckily was born twenty years ago just in claiming day. The story is not too long and I also believe it could have been a bit shorter as I found some parts which could be omitted; anyways, the story is captivating and the dialogues are really well written. I liked how the author wrote this book and I am curious about the next one in the series as this one ends in surprising ways. I won’t spoil anything, of course!
I would recommend this book to all my female friends, because the romance along the story is definitely inspiring. Eleanor is a charming girl and I felt identified with her many times in the story. It made me sigh quite deeply while I was reading it. I think that the development of every character is vertiginous, and that is what makes the story spicy. However, I must admit that I did not like very much the way the dialogues are established.
The claimed Queen is the first of the four books that constitute The true immortal series from the same author. This full of hope novel tells the battle that a young couple must undertake for the galaxy´s salvation. But also, each one of them has their own fight, struggle and challenge to win.
Why did I read this book? The writing is something of an early high school level and the text is marred with grammar errors every two words it feels like!
Don’t get me wrong...the idea is great! And I’m so glad she wrote it out and then published it. However, there are barely any details, all her sentences are simple with a few complex sparingly sprinkled in, and everything moves so fast. Not in a good way.
Thank god I didn’t buy this book and it was on sale.
I’m usually very patient and understanding, and I rarely poorly review books, but this just...I can’t even try to defend this book.
Jaye is the author of this entertaining fiction called “The Claimed Queen”.
The author tells a love story from two different points of view: that of a King and a Queen to be. Although the novel presents a standard love story, the whole context makes this book captivating and rip-roaring.
I must say I am not a fan of the role of women in this novel, but I was able to feel enthusiastic about its plot.
As the writer describes, the ending is open since it welcomes the second part of the story, the second book out of four from “The True Immortal” series.
I think this novel is perfect for middle aged people that enjoy romantic fiction.
“The Claimed Queen” is the beginning of a series that immediately caught my attention. As soon as I saw the book, I decided to buy it and I must say that it was a great decision. I really enjoyed this great book. “The True Immortals Series” surpassed my expectations, it is a thriller full of mystery and action. The protagonists and the setting are excellently described. I felt captivating by the story from the first page. It is a story of love and fight for the future, not only by a couple but also by the entire galaxy. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good science fiction novel, like myself.
In a world of women to choose from, the King has found his perfect match, and is determined to have her.
She is not exactly ready to be chosen, and is not sure she wants any part of this, but she has been raised believing that she has no choice but to go along with it. Without the protection of the Kings space armada the entire Earth would be destroyed, and her friend and sisters with it.
This book is great! I'm dying to know what come's next! The humans are under protection of an immortal alien race and one of the catches is that every year some human females are taken away but they don't know why. They are true mates to the aliens and very precious to them. In this case, the mate is the queen.
I couldn’t stand the quick switch of emotions, the abuse that is supposedly accidental, and how he promises to change and be better only to go back to how he was acting before. Once may have been an accident but several times isn’t bond sickness or not. The possessiveness crossed the line over to creepy and dangerous.
Love the story with its twists and turns. I am excited to get to book 2. My only hope is you get someone to read the next book for errors. Too many misplaced words in sentences. At times I can't even decifer the meaning. Misplaced pronouns.
The story engages, but the myriad apostrophes used where they do not belong and not used where they should be turns what would have been a 4-star book into a 3-star book. Other grammatical errors sprinkle the content, along with too much passive voice. Otherwise, the story's good, but ends on a cliffhanger.
I really love this book it was so exciting to read about these warriors and the king and queen of was exciting and fun to read i couldn't put it down it is a very good story won't want to stop reading this book
I really like the characters even if I find the start of the book to be a little slow, it almost starts out like another sleeping beauty type of story once you get past the first 4 or 5 chapters. I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series
The story line and plot was great, my only problem was the wording. It was often times quite repetitive and I had to skim over a little bit to get through some parts. Still work the read.
2.75 Stars. Ellie is annoying and repetitive; but, the rest of the story has just enough to bring the reader back to see what will happen next...if Book 2 wasn’t free there wouldn’t be a problem walking away from the series...
Great writing. Love how Ellie developes into a strong woman through the story. I hate cliffhangers but will continue with the next book so I can see how her life works out.
