Apartment manager extraordinaire Cambria Clyne is back, and I couldn't be more thrilled! No sophomore slump here as Rocky Road & Revenge is every bit as funny, clever, unpredictable, and entertaining as the first book. Although Cambria now has job security and a steady beau, that doesn't mean she can breathe easy--not when she's got a property inspection coming up, the last birthday of her twenties to celebrate, and oh yeah, a murder to solve! When Cambria's best friend, actress Amy Magnolia, is implicated in the murder of her co-star on the TV show Ghost Confidential, she feels honor-bound to investigate, even if that means putting herself in danger. With suspects and motives galore and murder victims piling up, Cambria races against the clock to find the killer who may be closer than she thinks.

The author does a masterful job of weaving all the various elements of Cambria's life together (her work/dealing with crazy tenants, her young daughter, the ongoing love triangle between her and the two hotties she has feelings for . . . #TeamTom, and all the chills and thrills of searching for and unmasking a killer). Huss's characters are vividly brought to life by her descriptions/dialogue, and they feel very distinct and real. Cambria is such an endearing hot mess of a heroine; she makes me laugh and I love how she never says die about anything. The woman is tenacious! With her uncanny ability to ferret out bad guys/girls, I'm surprised the LAPD hasn't recruited her yet! ;)

Like the ice cream Cambria often indulges in, the books in this series are a delightful treat meant to be savored and enjoyed, and they will leave you smiling. I can't wait to see what trouble Cambria finds herself in next time around.

I highly recommend this series to readers who love a good Cozy Mystery in the humorous style of Janet Evanovich.

The second in this mystery series, this book sees Cambria Clyne returning as the MC in a fun and fast story as she attempts to be a successful apartment manager. Of course, many things go awry, her daughter's father makes an appearance when he is not wanted on the scene, and her new romantic interest is a detective who tries to help solve the murders that Cambria seems to keep getting involved in. This is a good story that mystery readers as well as romance readers will enjoy.

This was another good read in this series. Cambria's birthday is how the book starts off. However, it goes all wrong. Her best friend ends up being set up for a murder. On top of that you know the residents in this neighborhood are still nuts. Thankfully she is able to keep it together and find out who did it.

This is book two in the Cambria Clyne Mysteries series. We follow the life of Cambria in her job as an apartment manager. It is an ideal job for her, after her relationship broke up and she needed a new job and a new home for her and her daughter. It’s her birthday and she has an inspection to prepare for, vacancies to fill and rents to collect. At least her love life is on the up, she has two men vying for her attention.

Her best friend, Amy, is an actress and has just landed a role on a popular drama series, Ghost Confidential. Cambria hasn’t heard from her best friend yet, but the day has only just started. Hopefully, it will be her best birthday yet! But, she wished for it all too soon. Shortly things go up in flames! Quite literally.

Suddenly, a member of the cast from Amy’s new show, Ghost Confidential turns up dead and that is just the start. Items linked to the murders turn up in Amy’s possession and it seems someone is trying to frame her for the murders and may have a very personal reason for the killing spree. Cambria finally finds Amy hiding out in the apartment complex, sometime after the first death. She decides to try and find out who is framing her best friend, who is behind the destruction at the studio.

Whilst doing so, she has to avoid a certain detective who believes she knows more than she is letting on and also get ready for her boss arriving for the inspection with their strange owner. The owners’ son is also a resident, living in an apartment rent free, due to being family, having just left rehab and being somewhat of a misfit. Cambria’s other residents have some more oddballs amongst, a pair of OAP’s with a noisy sex life, an old woman with a bird constantly on her shoulder, a young woman who hasn’t signed her lease yet, an older Vietnamese couple, the Nguyen’s, the complex maintenance man and his wife, who look after Cambria’s daughter Lilly and many more.

Rumours get spread about Cambria, by her quirky residents, making her job much more difficult. Who is the murderer and will Cambria survive until the case is solved? How will the inspection go, will she pass and what are her chances This was an amusing read, with all the antics of her residents and the chaotic life she is now living with her daughter, her ambitions for a promotion and a better life for her daughter. You have a good bit of mystery behind the murders, but there is a really good surprise on what links are discovered late on in the book and also who is actually behind the murders.

This is an easy and short read, with lots of twists and surprises. Lots of things occur during the book, in the apartment complex and also at the studio and a lot of them bring about quite a bit of amusement at the antics of the characters involved. I really enjoyed reading this and look forward to reading some more of the series and will have to go back to the first book in the series, to see how Cambria started out on this path.

I received an ARC copy of this book from Hidden Gems and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Like I said after reading the first book in the Cambria Clyne Mystery series by Erin Huss, French Vanilla & Felonies, "You cannot help by fall in love with Cambria!" and that goes double for Rocky Road & Revenge. Cambria Clyne is "all that and a bag of chips" !!

After reading French Vanilla & Felonies, I was a huge fan of Cambria. I was in love with her and everything about her. Now after reading Rocky Road & Revenge not only am I a fan of hers but I want to move into the apartment complex she manages and hang out with her on a regular basis !!!

In Rocky Road & Revenge things hit really close to home when Cam's best friend Amy is being framed for the murder of Amy's co-star.....okay....let's back up a bit. Amy is an actress and Cam's best friend and she also lives in an apartment in the complex Cam manages. Amy is on a television show where she doesn't get along with her co-star and when the co-star is found murdered, Amy is the prime suspect. Unfortunately Amy doesn't have an alibi for the time of the murder and things are not looking good for her......

The thing I love the most about Cam is her ability to multi-task. She is getting the property ready for it's yearly inspection, she is trying to help Amy prove her innocence, she is celebrating a birthday, taking care of her 3 year-old daughter, dating a police detective and trying to figure out the best way to co-parent her daughter with the one night stand that produced said daughter...... Even though things seem to be spiralling out of control and a normal person would hide under their bed, Cam runs at danger straight on....no seriously, she does !! You have to read it to believe it !!!

I highly encourage you to read this series. Huss will have you holding your breath as you turn the pages, hitting yourself in the forehead while reading one page and then laughing out loud on the next. She will have you rooted to your seat while you get lost with Cam and all the "fun" that she is having. And when you get to the end, Huss will have you breathing a sigh of relief and smiling when you put the book down.

In this delightful second book of the series, Cam has really buckled down as an apartment manager. She has whipped the place into shape and is awaiting a meeting with the owner's representative in 3 days. Everything will be perfect. She envisions a move to a better complex with dreams of having a gold cart to get around. Things don't quite work out however, and a disaster with fragrant hot wax melts leaves the lobby on fire and in need of extensive repair-in two days.

To make matters worse, the star of a TV drama has been murdered, and Cam's friend Amy is also in that TV show. Amy has gone radio silent-not answering calls, texts, or emails. Worst of all, she won't even answer the door when Cam comes looking for her at the complex's apartment where she lives.

In a series of murders and some attacks on Cam, the inspection is still on. and the owner's hated son is back from his jail time. Could things get any worse? Oh, like Amy being framed for murder? And what about Lily's daddy, Tom, making a romantic play for Cam when she really loves Chase?

Even in the midst of murder and mayhem at the complex, there were laughs aplenty. I had to read until past bedtime because I couldn't put the book down. It was captivating, humorous, and a darn good mystery. The main characters are all believable and include Cam, Lily (her 3 year old daughter), Tom (Lily's dad and Cam's one night stand), Chase (police detective and boyfriend of Cam), Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen (Maintenance man and wife who were former neighbors of Cam and are from Vietnam), and Amy (best friend), all supported by an assortment of apartment renters who leave you gasping sometimes by their antics.

Funny, warm, suspenseful, you will be glad that you chose to read this book. Of course if you haven't read the first book in the series (French Vanilla & Felonies) you should read it before this one to have the full Cambria Clyne experience.

Rocky Road & Revenge is the second book in Cambria Clyne Mystery series but can be read as a standalone.
This being the first book for me I still had no trouble following the story and getting familiar with the characters.
Hilariously funny and entertaining, written in a seemingly light and easy manner this is the perfect choice for those who enjoy mystery as much as a good laugh out loud books. I can only say that Cambria has already become one of my favorite fictional characters.

Her life is a mess, her job is messy, her relationships with men are nothing short of disaster yet our heroine just keeps going.
As she awaits a very important inspection that could possibly promote her to the manager of a very upstanding community, a lost urn will start a chain of events that will bring doom to all concerned, as her best friend Amy is accused of killing her co-star nemesis, Tom her baby daddy is having mysterious accidents and someone has put a contract on Cambria.

I couldn't put this book down, kept turning pages to see what more crazy things will happen next. Fabulous cast of quirky but likable characters and very interesting setting. I also like that main character is a single mom, down to earth and able to take things on.
I highly recommend it.

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

Funny little mystery. The Protagonist is a bit accident prone. Whether she is at fault or the problems are drawn to her, she has her hands full. She is an apartment manager and it appears many of her residents have gone crazy. Just when she needs everything to be perfect for an inspection, all hell breaks loose. Let's not forget all the dead bodies that start piling up. Her best friend is a suspect to the murders and she tries to get to the bottom of it. The book takes place over just a couple days, but man, what an eventful couple of days those are. Lots of action. Lots of accidents. Lots of laughs. Lots of cringing. The characters are colorful and umm.... interesting. This story moves pretty quickly. It's a fairly clean read. No sexual content, but there is some that is alluded to, and some kissing. Also not much violence, just a little tussle. The actual murders aren't played out in the pages. It's a fun book and the characters alone are enough to keep you entertained. It's written from the one POV.

*I volunteered to review an ARC of this book.

😆Chuckles galore as Cambria ponders the side effects of safeguarding Mom's funeral urn!😕
November 15, 2018
Format: Kindle Edition
👍👍😆😁😂 🍧 Zaniness and sarcastic humor abound in this cozy mystery. I have read several books in this series and they are getting better as they progress. Lily, 🏢 apartment complex manager Cambria's young daughter, and the wacky residents of the complex are priceless, especially Gloria and her diaper-wearing parrot! Single mom Cambria is dry-witted, beset by disasters like fires, murderers, absconding renters, and a funeral urn that seems to bring bad luck in its wake. So much fun you almost don't care about solving the murders.

A definite recommend it you like your cozies with tons of personality and humor. The heroine's💕 romantic life, though it pops through now and then, is mild in heat and definitely takes the backstage to the weird and wacky world of apartment living in greater Los Angeles.:-)

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

What a FABULOUS book! If you are looking for a super fun, laugh out loud story with crazy (albeit well developed) characters all rolled in to a well told story that has your attention from the first word till the very last, this is the book for you! Cambria and the rest of the 'gang' are total entertainment in this easy read which will keep you up past your bedtime so you can read "just one more chapter." I hadn't read the first book prior to this, but not only was that not an issue, I certainly am going back to read it now! Oh, and of course, the twists and turns you would expect in any mystery that keep you guessing until the very end with a touch of romance. So, why are you waiting, go check out this dysfunctional group, they will make you want for more by this author. This is my unsolicited, honest opinion after reading an advance copy of this book.

Oh wow. I thought book 1 was good, but book 2 is perfect 🤩
There was so much going on. And again, I was completely clueless about who the murderer could have been.
But besides all the things going on with the ☠️, there is so much more.
I so love this "community" 😁 I mean all the things with Sylvia and her parrot 🤣
And generally, all these very noisy neighbors with their gossiping and rumors. I know ☠️ are not funny, still this book is 😎

I also loved Lilly, Cambria's 3-year-old daughter. She is so cute and so inquisitive. And yes, I'm convinced she would love mommy and daddy to be together 😎 But will that ever happen? 🤷‍♀️ I mean, Tom isn't the only man in Cambria's life 🙈

I can't wait to start book 3 and see who will ☠️ this time 😎 And because of that, I don't wait and just jump into it 🤩

This series is absolutely laugh out loud funny.

I loooved it. I laughed out loud so much my niece asked me to stop laughing cuz it was interrupting her.

Cambria is sarcastic and self-deprecating. I relate to her on so many levels lol. This book has a hilarious cast of characters that live in her building and every one of them is hilarious. They definitely add to the book.

The mystery wasn't as good in this book but I still really enjoyed it. The mystery kind of took a back seat to all the other things happening but it was all really good and kept me hooked. I did expect a bit more at the end with the whole mystery but that's just my personal opinion.

This book has mystery, romance, and hilarity. If that sounds good to you then I would for sure recommend this series.

Cambria and crew are back at it again! Cambria is an apartment manager with a daughter Lilly. She is involved in a somewhat love triangle with Lilly’s dad and a cop named Chase. Trouble follows her like bee to honey. In this book, a famous actress is murdered and her best friend Amy is the prime suspect! Cambria knows she is not responsible, so she takes it upon herself to infiltrate herself into the situation to prove her innocence. As expected, be prepared for another hilarious adventure with Cambria and friends! Who is the murderer? What will happen in the love triangle? Find out and more when you read this AWESOME HILARIOUS book! I received this book as a gift and am leaving a voluntary review.

What a FUN read!
This is the first book I've read by this author and will certainly be reading more. Cambria is certainly not your ordinary mother, apartment manager, and/or girlfriend. She's able to handle everything in spite of being a "hot mess". How she handles her young daughter, the baby daddy, her steady beau, an apartment complex, and trying to solve a murder her best friend is accused of is "one for the books". This IS the book. I laughed till I had tears in my eyes even though there are some serious situations, i.e someone shooting at her. Great characters, super story, and super clever writing make this a must read.

I received this book from Hidden Gems in return for an honest review.

I will start by saying that I read this book in less than two days! Once I started, I did not want to put it down. Cambria is an extremely likeable property manager who finds herself in a few scrapes. The cast of oddball tenants added to the story as well. I did not expect the perpetrator to be the perpetrator, so the mystery part of the story was well done, too.

This is the second in a series; I have not read the first, and did not need to in order to fully enjoy this book. I want to go back and read the first now, though, and re-enter Cambria's world.

Apartment manager, Cambria Clyne, is trying to hold things together. Between getting ready for a property inspection on the apartment complex, she is turning one year older, trying to keep the renters happy (and still renting), and attempting to prove her best friend Amy didn’t kill her co-star. Yep, all in a day’s work!

Cambria just can’t seem to catch a break and with her quick wit, nose for finding trouble, and knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, readers are in for the fun ride of their life. With a mixture of humor, madcap adventure, and a mystery to solve, this book has it all.

OMG! You really would think Cambria was cursed with everything that happened in her life. Tom and his commitment phobia always sending mixed signals and nearly getting her killed. Amy involving her in all her horrible cop avoidance decision making. A persistent tarantula, a weird allergy inducing dog, an urn, a couple of fires and a killer on the loose. Chase was one of the few happy bright spots in Cambria's life along with her daughter Lilly. I couldn't help laughing at all the horrible situations she found herself in, especially the ones of her own making.

Cute mystery romance, nothing really different about it other than the job title which I can relate to having just retired from this type of job. Since that’s what caught my eye, that was what I was interested in and must say they nailed it on the job specifics. Cambria was a likable character with an adorable daughter and of course two hot men interested in her. What’s a romance without an angle. Either they hate each other from the start and then fall desperately in love or there are multiple boyfriends and they must choose after 2-5 books. In this case readers divide themselves between team Tom- the lawyer and team Chase -the cop. Who will Cambria choose?

This is the second book in the Cambria Clyne Mystery series and I got a lot of laughs from it. I love how smart and inquisitive Cambria’s three-year-old daughter is. The author has two men vying for this character’s attention, and I can’t make up my mind as to who I am rooting for. Erin Huss has done a fantastic job with this five-star book and I hope to read the next installment in the series very soon.

This is the second book in the Cambria Clyne Mysteries Series and it's just as good as the first one! Things seem to be going well for Cambria, she has her new apartment manager job, her daughter is settling into their new home, and she has 2 great guys vying for her affections. Unfortunately for her, on her birthday everything starts to go wrong. Her best friend is accused of murder, there is a fire, she gets into a car accident and the residents are acting crazy as usual. Great mystery with zany characters. Warning - may cause excessive bouts of laughter! The characters are very well developed - and characters they certainly are. This could almost be an apartment complex for misfits! They mystery was also good with several plot twists. Reading the book kept me up way too late when I could not put it down. A very enjoyable read!

I just love this series! Ms. Huss is such a good storyteller! The setting is described so you feel like you are there. The heroine is funny and someone you’d like to know. The storyline is attention-getting till the end. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes “clean” mysteries, people who care about their friends and neighbors and a great story!

Cambria is still managing the apartment complex and dealing with some strange tenants. Her best friend Amy is accused of murder so she is trying to prove she is innocent and ends up being a target. The characters are fun and zany and the story is entertaining and keeps the reader intrigued to see what happens next in Cambria's life.

Fun!

Cambria Clyde is turning into my favorite heroine! She’s funny & awkward and I think we’d be friends.

All the hijinx that plays out on her way to solving this murder is a hoot! Her tenants are whacky, her love life is a little whacky and her methods are whacky but it makes for a fun read!
