R.K. Gleason was born in Grand Island, Nebraska in 196-something. He grew up, and spent most of his adult life living in Seattle. In late 1999, he met the love of his life, left his home in Seattle and moved to Ohio. Currently, R.K. lives in Columbus, Ohio with his best friend, and gorgeous wife, Petra. They have four children, currently two grandchildren, and ABSOLTELY no pets.
While R.K. grew up with a naturally vivid imagination, although his friends might argue some of it was self-induced, he seldom put his thoughts to paper. At the age of forty-eight, after the inspiration came to him in a dream, he began his first novel. On that day, The Truth Death and The Michele Shepard Series came to life.
Let me start by saying that I've never been a fan of Nikki so I was a bit skeptical reading a spin off series featuring her as a primary character. With that being said, I absolutely loved this new installment. Bob is growing from a funny surfer/stoner type into a confident bad ass. The transformation is a thing of beauty and I'm glad RK didn't shatter Bob to the point of losing his playful sarcasm. Lo is a unique addition to the cast and I appreciate his zen like oneness. All veggies aside, i really dig his brand of bad-assery; vegetarian or not And if I'm being completely honest, by the end of the ride, I may have lost some of my distaste for Nikki... for now. I'm also thankful this story didn't end in a cliff hanger (I HATE THAT) but in a manner that is becoming quintessentially Gleason and leaves you hungry for me.
The first book in a spin off from The True Death series. This tells the story of what happens to Bob and Niki after they are ripped away from purgatory. Bob, now without the support of his friends, becomes the sole protector of a very pregnant Niki. With Bob winging it things don't exactly go to plan, angels really aren't all that friendly. Stuck in a new realm Bob and Niki must learn to survive while preparing for the birth. Bob realises he needs to step it up. With the help of Lo, a new ally, he does just that. Unfortunately for Bob trouble is never far away. Great story full of humour and violence, but it also shows the sacrifices people will make to protect their family and those they love. You don't need to read The True Death series to enjoy this but I would recommend it to appreciate how far Bob has come.
While I was reading this book I found myself hating and loving the Author all in one book. Very interesting book. Left me hanging at the end hoping for the next book to come out soon. Loved the cover. !!! This Author can make you laugh out loud. Also makes you wonder what is going on in that dark mind.
