He’s a rancher, an ex-cop, and the only thing standing between a killer and his prey. Except he doesn’t know it.
Against his better judgment, Ethan Collins hires Zoë Pennell as the new cook for his ranch. She’s not the person she pretends to be, but the men on the ranch are taken with her. Especially Ethan. Unable to resist her, he delves into her past, an act that plummets the pair into jeopardy. For the danger she’d outrun has found her, and his ranch is no longer a safe refuge
Wanted Men of Bison Bluffs.
The tiny prairie town houses hard-working, genuine folk leading humble lives. It’s also a place of mystery and intrigue, where love flourishes, but danger has come.
What a strong start to a new series! Zoë is on the run and ends up at Ethan’s ranch interviewing for the position of cook. She talks her way into getting the position and Ethan learns very quickly that she can hold her own in this male dominant world. I love Zoë’s sassy, bold, and caring spirit. She keeps Ethan on his toes in and out of bed. Ethan is suspicious of her but is still captivated by her at the same time. She has mostly everyone loving her, but will she stay long enough to nurture these new relationships?
There is a lot of suspense in this book to keep the reader wondering what will happen next and a few “didn’t see that coming” moments. There are also a variety of different characters that pop up along the way in this book that will, hopefully, get their own books in the series. I am looking forward to discovering more about this small town!
For me, the first book in a new series kind of sets the tone for the rest of the books. I think this series is gonna be a hit because I loved the story of Ethan and Zoe. She's on the run from something in her past and when she's hired on at Ethan's ranch, she doesn't tell him. He knows there is something "off" about her being there but can't put his finger on it at the moment. I liked Zoe because she is a strong and determined character. Ethan is a tough man to work for and fights his attraction for Zoe. There are twists and turn in the story that will keep the reader on the edge of their seat. There are also quite a few secondary characters that I hope we will get to see in future books! Loved this and can't wait for the next one!
I have absolutely loved every one of Cynthia Knobles' books that I've read in the past and I loved this book just the same. The story line between ex cop turned rancher (Ethan) and the cook he is unsure to hire(Zoe) is amazing and intriguing! There are many more characters that will catch your interest as well. I'm sure of it. 😉 I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. Definetly worth the 5 star rating!! Take me to Bison Bluff please
