Kate was forced to live with her uncle when she was little and was kept locked away. Then one night she found out her uncle was going to use her as collateral in a bet, and she knew she had to break free. But when she did, she never imagined she’d run straight into trouble with the king.
James is ruler of all that’s around him, and he has to keep the peace in his kingdom. When a trespasser is brought before him, he isn’t prepared for what happens next. He’s ready to stake his claim and take what he wants. He’s the king, after all.

I finished the book I was reading last night and I wasn’t taking the chance of starting my next one and being up half the night. In cases like this Alexa Riley is usually the answer. Short and sweet with a HEA and at least one epilogue (usually more).
I enjoyed this one. Kate lives with her dodgy uncle and it’s only a matter of time before she’s gambled away. So she waits until her eighteenth birthday and runs away. Straight onto the Kings land. The king takes one look at Kate and knows he’s found his queen.
If you’ve read an Alexa book before then you know how it goes and for me it went well.
Heartwarming quick royalty read with a runaway by the name of Kate and a very conscientious, young King James who on first glance knows that sweet innocent Kate is the one!
Alexa Riley has done it again! Yes, she, again, managed to assault me with cumming, cum, leaking cum.. that I (felt like) was sprayed by it.
This Royal Wedding series is one of the August BR of my Geisha people and whilst I’m not a big fan of Alexa Riley, I still read it. Not because I was forced to but I want to so I can complete the series. And it was a short read anyway.
Minus the cum, cumming and leaking cum, this was a heartwarming quick read.
All work no play King James was busy ruling his kingdom when Kate and her uncle Jack / Howard (typo error? Not sure what his real name was) were captured by his Royal Highness guards. You see, innocent Kate was running away from her uncle (to find out why - read the story) and ventured to King James’s kingdom unintentionally. And as expected, when our alpha OTT king had first laid eyes on her, he realised she was the one that will make him cum non stop for him.
Because it was too short, AR had graced us with plenty epilogues and I must say I LOVED the very last one.
"The King's Innocent Bride" is the story of Kate and James. This AR tale has all the typical insta love tropes -Instant love filled lust -Innocent h -Celibate hero -Some OW drama which barely lasts a minute -Super sweet HEAs I give it an extra star for the epilogue, because apart from that the story was average. Safe 2.5/5
sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo disappointing. Not that hot and not that protective? I didn't feel the heat I normally get from Alexa Riley. Also, who was editing this? It seems that AR is working so hard to churn out as many book as possible without caring too much about the quality.
Quantity > quality apparently for AR now. But this one irked me a bit because things were being repeated. For example, a character may say he doesn't believe in love at first sight and doesn't want to break his mom's heart by telling her this. But then he would say it again two paragraphs later. Um, what? I got it the first time.
I absolutely adore AR books and will read anything written by them. There is no surprise there.
=>Hot sexy possessive alpha, who would do anything for the women they love? Check. =>A women who is strong and has her happy ending? Check. =>Hot scene? Check. =>Short and insta-love, but that you still would like? Check.
This book has everything that all of the other AR book had and that’s way I liked it.
Slight ow drama, but didn't last long and wasn't an ex, just someone who wanted to be queen. Fast read. To me a fast read doesn't mean pages, just means that it is so good, there is no stuttering, it's just bam, bam, bam, then it's over and you don't realize how long it was cause it was that good.
OK, so I am an Alexa Riley and yes, this book was EXACTLY what I would expect from her and I loved it!!!!!! Short, sweet, sexy and totally full of alpha deliciousness!!!!!
Wow! What a horrible disservice this author has done to this series!
What did I just read? The author did not edit this story...nor run spell check. That is a great disservice to people who buy your books! And it pisses me off to no end! She or he did not care enough to make their story as perfect as they could before offering it to the public. It is an embarrassment!
Now for the story.... I wasn't sure if it was a contemporary, a medieval...or a different universe. She had the character acting just weird...the hero too.
The story was weird. I loved the first two in this series...they are diamonds! This one? It's a cubic zirconian.... just fake and not worth anything.
Cute read, lots of use of the c-word, insta-luv hero, naively innocent heroine who is gaga for the hero after 5 minutes, you know same old same old with Alexa Riley. She's the go to author when i just want something mindless and with not a great deal of substance. They are just quick stories that help add to my book count. I enjoy them but nothing to write home about.
Oh and the one plus with this Alexa Riley book? No "creamy nut butter" for a descriptor!
Kate lost her parents at a young age, then later her grandmother who raised her, and then finally, her freedom, after being sent to another country to live with an uncle, her dad's brother. Her uncle, however, was not a good man and essentially kept Kate imprisoned. When she overheard him bet her in a poker game, and thankfully win, she knew he would do it again and possibly lose. She's seen how those men look at her and is scared. With no other choice, Kate runs, but is soon caught by her uncle and then by guards, the King's guards, because they've unknowingly trespassed on his land.
When James, the king, needing to escape yet another matchmaking attempt from his mom, learns of the trespassers, he eagerly uses it as an excuse. However, when he meets the young woman, who'd fooled others into thinking she was a boy with her small stature and cape covered head and body, James instantly knows she's the one he's been waiting for. She is meant to be his queen.
As Kate's life is suddenly changed for the better, becoming a fairy tale she never knew could happen, James shows her what she is to him, what she will be. Kate, knowing only pain and loss so far, is scared this is all a dream, or a mistake. When someone with their own agenda lies to Kate, enforcing her fears, Kate is devastated and flees yet again. But James refuses to lose her and quickly assures Kate of her rightful place, by his side, and the liar will be punished for hurting her.
James and Kate continue their new journey together and begin a life filled with everlasting love and happiness.

**I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
The King's Innocent Bride by Alexa Riley is book Three in the Royal Wedding series. This is the story of Kate and James. I haven't yet read the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book. Kate was trying to get away from her awful Uncle when she is found by James the King. As soon as James saw Kate he new she was his and wanted her for his wife. Ms. Riley always write an alpha male with instant love for his women. I just love that theme! This was a great, quick, hot read!
So this quick read is here just in time for the royal wedding! I've read a lot by Alexa Riley but I don't think that I’ve read a royal one. I loved it! This one was perfect!
James and Kate (like Duchess Kate!) were perfect together! James was a big teddy bear when it came to her and I just couldn’t get enough of reading about him trying to stay in control!
This was so damn cute and I devoured it. Kate thought she was all alone living with her sketchy Uncle and got herself a King. A growling alpha male kind of King!
Not my favorite... I have so much to say and don't understand such a high rating (have we read the same story?) But I'm deciding to keep quiet. Why ? Cause I love Alexa Riley and I don't want to say something that might spoil out relationship.
Mini review: I don't know what to say. No excitement anymore :( Story is decent; more likely recycle. You know the drill. Alpha male with virgin heroine. Sweet AF with fuckfest.
Romance genre: insta-love Series: Royal Wedding Length: 94 pages
Plot: Kate lives with her horrible uncle, but when he betrays her and she ends up at the castle to face judgment, her life changes with just one look. The king, James, hasn't been interested in a woman up until now, but once he sees her, he knows it's meant to be.
Commentary: James is over the top possessive, and if there is something wrong in Kate's life, he will fix it, starting with the mess involving her uncle. James is a great character, definitely a little obsessive. There was some confusion (at least for me) about the setting of the book. That didn't change the motivation of the characters but it was difficult to form a mental picture when you're wavering back and forth between medieval and modern settings.
Grammar/formatting: Could have used another editing pass - that would have ensured another star for me.
