For the past four years, I’ve kept a tightly guarded secret. I want a man to take control.
There are three reasons why I decide to go to Dom Prescott’s hotel room that night. First is the dominant way he glares at me in the bar. Second is the room number scribbled on his cocktail napkin with the word “come”. Last, but perhaps most important, is the assumption that my scandalous night with the sexy stranger will remain confidential and private.
After tonight, I will move to New York to work for my father’s marketing firm, and I can’t add the stress of dealing with a relationship, but it’s been so long since I felt a man inside me. So, I make a promise to myself. I’ll indulge my most submissive desires for one night only. When I get to New York, my focus will be on the job.
Imagine my surprise when I show up for my first day of work and realize that the stranger who absolutely owned me in bed is my new boss.
DOM
Cute. Inexperienced. His big eyes beg me to take charge.
I can handle that. What I can’t handle are the feelings that come afterward. On the cusp of my big promotion to partner, there can’t be any distractions.
And boy is this guy a distraction.
One night of indulging my darkest desires with the gorgeous Sean, but it has to end when he walks out the hotel door. Returning to New York means returning my focus to the job.
So, what am I supposed to do when my boss tells me to show his son the ropes?
Note to readers: This is a spicy MM romance with a twist. While Dom is aggressive and dominant, this is not a BDSM book. Readers can expect two red-hot men and several steamy scenes that will leave you gasping.
Loved the blurb. Loved the beginning. Initially great chemistry, build-up and anticipation. And then at the pivotal moment; scene fade to black.
Cheated out of the promise of the blurb, I hoped this was a deliberate strategic move on the part of the author. But as the story progressed the reader is forever kept guessing what happened between the pair. All we get is the MCs thinking a lot about "it". Even the flashbacks fail to provide any details. And that sums up the rest of the book; a lot of thinking and very little dialogue. The younger MC is one of the most tongue-tied character I've come across, mostly saying "Oh" in various forms interjected into office conversations. There are a couple of on-page sex scenes later in the book and they are not bad, but at that point I was too annoyed to care. At the 60% mark I was ready to shove both MCs off a cliff. Since the book was short I got to the end by skimming and eye-rolling a lot.
The author is very clear in a note in the blurb, this is not a BDSM story. But author note aside, the blurb text itself set up incorrect expectations of domination and submission. The book title? Is the first name of the main character. Can I shove him off a cliff now?
I thought this was going to be a D/s book - started off with a promising opening scene and then slowly morphed into a low angst romance. The story was ok but it wasn’t what I was hoping for
So according to the blurb this had some of my favourite tropes - a dominant boss, a submissive new employee, a forbidden secret office romance - it's like this was written specially for me! 🤤😍
HOWEVER reading this was as much fun as watching paint dry. IT WAS BLAND AF. 😪 The characters lacked the steamy chemistry that the blurb promised and I failed to connect with either one of the MCs. Read as much as I could before having to stop due to sheer boredom. 😔
3.5 stars - This was a really sweet story about Sean, freshly graduated from college, wanting to celebrate by finding exactly what he’s always wanted in a guy. Before he has a chance to make use of the hookup app, he meets Dom, an older guy who seems to be exactly what Sean is looking for. They share an amazing night, but then each go back to their lives.
Fast forward a few weeks and Sean is starting a new job at his father’s company where he finds out his new mentor is none other than Dom, the man he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about. To say Dom is a bit concerned about this turn of events would be an understatement. He’s worked extremely hard to make it where he has with his career and is on path to becoming a partner. Having Sean turn up as the boss’ son is not something he expected.
It takes quite a bit of convincing for Sean to get Dom back on board with their “relationship.” And things almost don’t work out when a client meeting ends up putting them at odds. Honestly, Sean acted the more mature of the two much of the time, but it was easy to see how Dom’s concerns were the source of his actions.
As the blurb clearly states, this is not a BDSM story, but there is definitely a D/S theme going on with Dom taking control much of the time and Sean being the more submissive. What we get are some pretty steamy scenes, a bit of angst, and a sweet romance. The coincidence of their meetup and the quickness of the resolution aside, I definitely enjoyed this quick read and will definitely be looking for more from Mr. Collins in the future.
First off, let's start with that sexy, amazing COVER!!! Hot damn. Very sexy. Second, the book starts off with a hot and explosive meeting between Sean (a young recent grad) and Dom (an older, settled working man). There is very little said between them, but not much words were needed to have such an engaging and intense hook up. Neither thought they would ever see the other again.
Flash forward a week when Sean shows up at the office to work at his father's marketing firm, and Dom is one of his dad's top employees. Things get complicated when Dom is asked to show Sean the ropes, and neither of them are having an easy time ignoring their attraction to each other.
Dominick had a perfect name. He liked to dominate in the bedroom, and he was actually pretty growly outside of the bedroom as well. He liked things his way, and he had goals. Not bad traits to have. It was nice to see him take a step back and evaluate what it was he really wanted and not let Sean (and his subsequent happiness) slip away.
I enjoyed the story. It was definitely hot, and had an explosive start. The story played out well, and I liked the growth between the characters. The ending with Dom's career choice seemed a bit quick to me, but overall it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story.
Dom by author Jason Collins is an intense read that I loved and wanted more of. This explores the D/S side of BDSM. It is not hardcore at all it is very light. It adds another dimension to this book. I liked how the trust builds with that throw in. Sean wants a man to dominate him. He feels though he cannot take the chance, so he wants to do it on the down low. He feels he has to live up to what others want for him rather than what he wants for himself. I liked how he grew in this book. Dom teaches Sean to like himself I really appreciated that and loved seeing Sean become the man he always had inside of him. Dom, he falls for the sweet Submissive with the huge eyes. They both think this is just a one-night thing. That is till Dom ends up being Sean’s new boss. Now Dom cannot keep his hands to himself or stop being distracted by Sean. Really great connection with the characters. The pacing of this book is really good too. If you are a true romance lover like myself I highly suggest this one. Intense, funny, and memorable.
I liked this story but it was just missing something for me to give it that extra star or two. The characters were cute together. I love the cliche of one night stand coming back to haunt you at work etc and this definitely did deliver that. I do, however, think that Dominick wasn’t dominating enough. I know Collins declared it wasn’t a BDSM novel but it still needed that edge to make it believable that Dominick was the dominant and aggressive lover that Sean was looking for. It was a quick, easy read and I am excited to read more of this author’s work.
Sean is out celebrating with his college grad friends when he meets a mysterious man who leaves his hotel room # on a bar napkin and one word, “come”. Woah. If that doesn’t set the tone, lol......So what do you think Sean does? Ummm, yeah. This story was a fast and fun delight to read. There was some heat that wasn’t over the top and I appreciated that because it also makes a social statement that added some seriousness to it. All in all I enjoyed it. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
The characters and story were ok but just ok. There wasn't really any sizzle and it was a little boring. Not bad enough to not finish, but just a little bleh. The cover and synopsis didn't match the story much.
This book for me was alright. There was just enough back story to make the characters feel real, but everything seemed so rushed. I like the concept, but the execution for me was lacking
I downloaded a sample of this and really liked the first chapters that were in the sample, however when I bought the book, I felt like it built up for this awesome climax and then just kind of sat there. I felt like this book would have benefited from being longer, or something. I felt like there was no resolution after what was supposed to be the climax, we never got to learn anything about the characters beyond the surface level and the fact that one is a dom and the other is a sub. So, I have no feelings about them either way. I felt like the story didn't really go anywhere, and I am left wondering what happened to the characters, how did they resolve the issues between them that were big blatant issues. There is a part where it is really clear that they are going to have major issues in their relationship, but that's never really resolved or addressed. Sure, they talked about it, but it seemed like they just brushed it under the rug and left it at that. I couldn't tell you anything about who each character is as a person besides surface level things like Dom is in marketing and is a dom and good looking. Sean is the son of Dom's boss and is a sub. I couldn't say much about the story other than these guys meet at a bar fall in love and their some were bigots thrown in for dramatic effect.
I give honest reviews, and honestly, this book did not work for me at all. I think it could benefit from more character development and a stronger plot. As a writer, I hate giving bad reviews, but I have to remain honest, and this is just a book I did not like. This is one of the lowest rated books I have ever reviewed.
Appealing title...check. Hot cover...check First scene hotness...check
I should have known that if the first scene was the equivalent of almost reaching a climax and then throwing a bucket full of ice and water. So that should have clued me in that this was not for me.
But persistent me kept on going. Because after such an amazing start it had to have something. This characters had no depth. They never get to know each other. The author did a poor job of depicting the marketing industry. How and I want to know how...on earth you tell me that you fly to the south and to meet a potential big client. You being part of one of the leading marketing agencies in NY. Without a solid plan or any idea what the pitch would be. You are going to what? Just wing it! And just the night before coming with an idea and just saying it in passing by. And how were they supposed to convince this big company that their company was the best fit for them. Then the scene is as unrealistic and immature as it could be. sigh...then the sex scenes where all the same. Well at least until I stopped reading the book because I was afraid I could permanently get my eyes stuck in the back of my head.
Sincerely, they never even had a conversation. How on earth anything was supposed to move forward. I am giving it 2 stars because I just do not find it in me to give it one and it did not annoy me that much. I did like Dom. Because he is kind of the type that I love even if it feels like he is just a mirage without any substance what so ever.
Everything started out pretty well – great cover, great blurb, and great beginning to the story. But then, it just kind of fizzled for me. The initial hookup had me dumbstruck when, after much anticipation, it faded to black. Beyond that point, I had a hard time feeling the connection between the characters and really had to push myself to get all the way through this one. Okay, but not really one I’d recommend.
With the title I was expecting a strong dom, I get it's his name , but still. He was strong at times, but not like I guess I wanted.... I kept hoping for more but was left disappointed.
The first 30% was great! Hot, tense and steamy... I loved the Dom/Sean dynamic. Then it started to slide, personality traits changed or disappeared and not as part of the relationship development... Then I didn't love the Dom/Sean dynamic.
4.5 stars This is one older man/younger man story with some BDSM thrown into the mix. Sean is a recent college graduate living in a small town who has been mostly celibate for the past four years. Dom is an older man who is visiting the small town on business. After somewhat of a challenging day, Dom goes to a bar and sees Sean. Although Sean is somewhat shy, all it takes is a few looks and they are hooked; a one-night stand follows and neither one thinks he will see the other again. One week later, Sean is back home and about to start working for his father’s company. Imagine his surprise when he sees Dom there and learns that he is one of the company’s top senior executives. Dom is taken aback and has no idea what to do with this new development. The chemistry between Sean and Dom just keeps getting hotter. Can they keep their feelings for each other a secret? What will happen if Sean’s father finds out the truth? Can Sean and Dom have a real relationship? This is one well written storyline and the reader can see the growth of the characters to where they are finally able to come into their own and trust what it is they truly want. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
Mix steamy, complicated and engaging together and it makes a fun read! I liked this story, it was well written and had some unexpected twists and turns that kept me reading and enjoying. This book also takes on a hard subject matter in business and it deals with integrity vs. closing the deal. Great food for thought with a fun romance to make it enjoyable!
Sean and Dom developed a connection that was honest and compelling for them. Both had to learn to communicate and i loved how they found their way. The author has a wonderful way of using words, single words, to set a tone and create intimacy and i so enjoyed his talent in this story.
📊 Will the boss's appealing son throw a 🔧wrench in Dom's promising career prospects? 📂 April 22, 2018 Format: Kindle Edition 👬💕🔥Enjoyable hookup turned romance in an 💻office setting. I wish the story had spent a bit more time providing backstory, especially for Dom. But I liked that the power dynamic in their relationship morphed as their emotional connection strengthened. The story's focus stayed with couple Dom and Sean to the exclusion of any secondary story lines, but the story moved pretty quickly and provided some steam, a few plot twists and a satisfying ending.:-)
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Dom is a marketing executive who seems to always get what and who he wants. One night he has his eyes set on a recent college graduate, Sean.
Before Sean heads back to NYC where he can be open and free he wants to give into desire and the demanding presence of Dom.
They do.
I enjoyed the strong beginning of this story. The promise of so much between Dom and Sean, especially when Sean shows up and work and Dom is supposed to show him the ropes. From there the story didn't do much to gain my interest.
This story quickly drew me and kept reading until the final page was turned. The author knows how to make the reader feel a part of the story. The story is told from alternating points of view, this is done very well and works with this story. I liked the characters, they are strong, stubborn, and believable. I was rooting for them to get together and was beginning to wonder if it would happen. This is a great story.
I received a copy of this book from the author, my review has been voluntarily submitted.
Sean meets a guy in a hotel bar on the night he graduates. They spend an amazing night together and the guy goes home and Sean prepares to move to New York to work for his dad's company. When he starts work, he is told he will be mentored by Dominick, who happens to be the one-night stand that got away. As they try to navigate a work relationship, it becomes clear very quickly that they can't just be coworkers. The chemistry is great between these guys until Dominick severely disappoints Sean and has to work to get him back. I adore Sean's dad.
This was my first Jason Collins book and I absolutely loved it, definitely not my last. The story was great and full of sexual tension, I couldn't put it down.
This is the story of Dom and Sean. A Marketing Executive and a university graduate that first meet the night of Sean's graduation, after a memorable night together they go their own ways. This is until a week later when Dom is preparing to take the owner of the firm's son under his wing on his first day at work. The son turned out to be Sean.
I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
I loved Dom and Sean's characters, and I loved their story. I thought they were fairly well developed and the push/pull was nice, too. While Sean is submissive, he is not at pushover and while Dom is dominant, he is not opposed to controlling every aspect of Sean or Sean's life.
While I enjoyed the story, I felt the author could have delved deeper into the characters' personalities and their were several spots the author could have expanded on, so the story could have been longer.
Awesome read. First time author for me and I am definitely hooked. Sexy chemistry and a connection you can't get enough of. This story kept my interest from the beginning, twist and turns that kept me guessing. This felt honest and romantic with a realistic story. Each character has their own point of view and you different. Only thing I wanted was to have more of it, and that is never a bad thing. Can't wait for the next. I voluntarily reviewed an 'Advance Author’s Copy' of this book.
This is probably what you could term a May to December romance. Sean has just graduated college, whereas Dom is established in his work, but the age gap is not emphasised. Instead it is the dynamic of more dominant to more submissive which is focused on. I enjoyed the story, the characters were fun and Sean's switches from confident to nervous and only heightened his youth. A gentle, low angst take which can be read in about 90 minutes
Although I enjoyed this book, after reading the previous book this book seemed lacking and somewhat of a disappointment. Where in His Submissive there was a greater number of scenes along the theme of the book. Where in Dom, there were a number of chances for exploring this, Jason just seemed to pass them by.
Although I did enjoy this book, as I said I founded it lacking is the reason for the 4 Star rating.
