Reluctant witch Missy Rae is at it again in Book Two of the Missy Rae Mysteries!

Find out what happens when an outdoor adventure, a long-held vendetta, and a band of well-meaning and slightly neurotic do-gooders try to help solve a murder.

When the annual Halloween Trail Hike ends in murder, resident witch Missy Rae finds herself in a sticky conundrum.
Legend has it that her ancestors committed a series of similar crimes in the past, so it’s only natural she and her meddling family members are to blame.

Although they can’t yet prove their innocence, they can do what they do best – create chaos – to root out the killer and expose a sinister scheme to rid their hometown of all witches.

Can Missy, her precocious Granny, a heavy-drinking cousin, a retired witch hunter, and her eternally angry mother find the culprit before he or she strikes again?

The Missy Rae Mysteries are written as standalone novels in the same witch-tastic world!

Not on goodreads

This was a fun read. A little mystery, a little paranormal, and a little laugh out loud humor. The only thing that kept me from rating higher was that I found Jake annoying especially at the beginning of the book.

Missy hasn’t really come into her power as a witch, her mother has turned her back on being a witch, and her grandmothers abilities as a witch are not always reliable. When a hiker is found dead during a competitive hike that Missy and Jake are participating in, suspicions fall on Missy. Now her family of witches, her boyfriend a witch hunter, and the normals in their circle decide to try to solve the crime.

I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.

Another fun, suspenseful cozy witch mystery

Missy Rae goes on a Halloween weekend hike for possible prize money. Someone who played a trick on her earlier was killed in his tent. One of the deputies who shows up is her high school nemesis, who really wants Missy to be guilty. Between her grandmother's spells that almost work, Missy's stubbornness, and a couple of disappearances, things get crazy until it's resolved. Lots of suspense and fun.

Fun, light reading.
Quirky characters that embrace the good natured fun in you.
A witch that has not come into her abilities, her grandmother whose powers have somewhat dampened, her mother that doesn't want anything to do with her witchy powers and her boyfriend, who is a witch hunter all combine with her best friend who is a "normal" to try to solve a murder that has put Missy in the frame for it.
Plenty of fun along the way.
Enjoyed it.

This is a fun, enjoyable, light- hearted, suspense mystery with lots of humor. Missy is not having fun hiking through the woods, setting up a tent for the first time and sleeping out in the woods where there's so many night noises. If that's not enough to ruin Missy's adventure, there's a murder in the camp. Who could have done the deed? Missy, her Granny, Jake and her Mother all want to solve the crime, in their unconventional and magical ways. This book has adventure, suspense, murder, witches, magic, twists and turns and lots of humor!
