She'll do anything for her son ... even marry an alien ... Rosemary left Earth to make a better life for her seven-year-old son. She’s got a good job, a nice house, and one minor problem: she needs to marry a Mahdfel warrior if she wants to stay.
Better the devil you know ... She can take her chances and marry a stranger or she can accept an offer from an unlikely candidate: Mene. She doesn't like him and she thought he didn't like her. He can barely look at her without snarling. But then again, none of the other warriors are any better.
He might not be handsome ... No female can look Mene in the eye and not flinch. But beneath his scarred face and gruff demeanor is a good man. A man who wants a mate and family.
His warrior’s heart burns for the curvaceous and vibrant human female, but she's very clear she's not interested in love... He’ll show her that his passion is anything but fake.

It is a shame that I can‘t give more stars, since I really liked the book in the beginning. And I always prefer a strongwilled heroine before a doormat. But at 40 % the book started to seriously drag, since nothing at all happens. Not plotwise, not sexwise, not relationshipwise, simply nothing. I thouroghly enjoyed that this was a slow-burn, but that doesn‘t mean it should be boring. But the same problem as in the first book came up, just pages of pages that were simply dull. Although the storyline was more original than in book one, all opportunities to make the plot interesting were passed over.
I liked a lot about this book, but there was also a lot that annoyed. Another example was the female lead, who just grated on my nerves at some point. I am not a fan of kids and the box wasn‘t really likeable to me.
My favorite part of the story... Michael, her son. I liked the romance, but could have done with a lot more of it. There was a lot of push and pull and misunderstandng each other throughout the book. But Mene was a good guy, or uh...alien. Had a good family who welcomed Rosemary and Michael with open arms, not to mention how good Mene was to Michael. I liked learning about some of the Mandrel history. I definitely wanna go back and read Rosemary's sister's story in book 1.
this one has more depth than the last Warlord bride. I enjoyed the build up between Mene and Rose. They built a friendship before they began a relationship. He knew she was his mate from when he first saw here, but he wanted to stay focused on other things. When Rose was in jeopardy of being deported, one of the two brothers had to steps up to keep her on Sangrin. Mene couldn't see any one else with his mate so he stepped up. I liked how Mene and Rose took things slow and I loved how accepting he was of Roses's son. Great short funny and sexy read anyone would enjoy.
3.8 points Pleasantly surprised, funny and quirky with quietly sarcastic undertones. Also, there is an alien soap opera called Endless Hope and Suffering and the characters are occasionally discussing the current story lines throughout all the series and I am ALL for it.
"That’s Doctor Ro—” “Shirtless dude is a doctor?” “He’s having a secret affair with that nurse, but she’s from the past. He doesn’t know that yet, but the other doctor, the one with the scar, he suspects that she’s the nurse who went missing twenty years ago. They used to be married. Or they were, before she traveled through time.” “That’s stupid. Of course, they’re still married.” “Well, he thought she died, so he remarried,” Hazel said. “Wait, the guy with the scar used to be married to the time traveling nurse? And he hasn’t said anything?” “No, shirtless guy used to be married to the time-traveling nurse. He thought she died. He remarried. Now he’s cheating on his second wife with his not-dead-time-traveling first wife.” Hazel hummed, clearly enthralled with the convoluted story. “But he doesn’t know she’s the first wife?” “Not yet. She keeps trying to tell him, but they get interrupted.” “That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Now stop talking, I want to watch this.”
We finally get Hazel's sister's story! Mene and Rosemary's story was so sweet. Rosemary is a single mom who has to deal with her deadbeat of an ex who will do anything he weasel money out of her, even using their kid. Thankfully she gets a one way ticket to visit her sister, and the story picks up from there! I found myself grinning several times during this book. It's sweet, it's funny, and quirky. And realistic is many ways in how people deal with certain situations and emotions. Enjoyable!
The Mahdfel had helped Earth to defeat the Suhlik who were after Earth’s resources. In return, the politicians agreed with them that because the Mahdfel were unable to have female children, Earth must allow every childless, single, healthy woman on Earth to be tested for genetic compatibility for marriage with a Mahdfel warrior. If compatible, the bride would be instantly teleported away to her new mate and the family would be compensated with credits. The women, of course, had no say in the matter.
As Rosemary Rovelli and her 7-year-old son drove up to her home, her ex – Michael’s deadbeat father -- was sitting on the porch waiting. She knew he was once again after money, which she didn’t have. Daytime bartending just didn’t bring in much in tips. As usual, he used Michael as a bargaining chip threat to get what he could from her. He wanted her car and in two months would be back for more money – or else he would file for custody. He didn’t want the child, but his rich parents would not want an embarrassing scandal and would make sure he won the lawsuit. Even when she had given him money to sign away his rights, he literally ran off with the money and never signed; so he kept coming back again and again, regardless of how poor and struggling she herself was!
Rosemary’s sister, Hazel, had married an alien. Hazel phoned her to invite her off-world to Sangrin to celebrate a sort of alien Christmas with her. She said she wanted to see her nephew, Michael, again too. And since Rosemary just got fired because public transport she now had to take made her late to work again, she had the time to accept Hazel’s offer.
When Rosemary finally arrived on the alien planet, she was approached by a very tall, handsome purple alien. He introduced himself as Lorran, brother of Hazel’s husband. Michael had a million questions for him until Rosemary made him stop! She was exhausted and not in the mood for Lorran’s flirting and cheerful outlook. He showed her to her room and again flirted, but this time she laughed. Mene arrived home and scented the woman who was upstairs. But cautious of his mother’s matchmaking, he did not go to meet her.
When Rosemary was offered a job by Mene’s mother in their wine business, and living accommodations, she decided to remain on Sangrin. But when the selfish Vince lost his source of income, he took steps to force her back to Earth. She now had to do that or register for the bride program, risking marriage to a stranger somewhere. Mene instead asked her to be his mate. Would she do this? The Mahdfel mated for life, so he could not choose another. But Rosemary did not want a deep relationship due to her previous bad choices. This would completely change her life. Was she ready to do that? Was she willing to let her son be trained as a Mahdfel warrior? And would this be enough to stop Vince from his spitefulness?
How can I express how much I loved this story?!! It was funny and so full of love and affection among the Rhew family Rosemary was visiting! They were everything that her Earth acquaintances were not! If I knew how to find a transport, I might try going there myself! Seriously, though, I loved this story line and the wonderful characters that reinforced what family is all about. I highly recommend this one – it’s awesome and well worth investing your time!

ARC Received from the Author, for a Voluntary and Honest Review. Thank you Ms. Cummings!
So in this world Rosemary has a 7 year old child. The only reason she even became pregnant was because this would exempt her from blood testing to see if she would be a fertile match for an Alien. See Earth was attacked by aliens who were kicking our ass when out of nowhere "another" set of aliens swooped in and saved the day. In return Earth women must pay the price. If your single and your blood proves to be compatible with the Aliens then Ding, Ding, Ding, you become an Alien bride regardless of your wishes. Unfortunately Rosemary's baby daddy is a total loser who extorts money from her and threatens her with his wealthy family. For a little peace Rosemary visits her sister off world who has recently (happily) married an Alien of her own. Here Rosemary comes into contact with her Alien brother-in-law's family or more specifically his brother Mene. Mene is a badass with tattoos and scars and a gruff, grumbly nature. They are attracted to one another and then blah, blah, blah. This plot has been seen before and there was nothing specifically wrong with it, I just didn't thing it stood out particularly well. Mene was a softie inside and of course there was insta boners which wasn't really necessary. Rosemary's son was nicely written and added a great touch and I really liked when Mene and he interacted. I just didn't have the feels for Rosemary in this one but it was fine I guess? Just not very memorable.
And the sparks fly. Rosemary is a single mom doing her best to make a good life for her 7 year old son in spite of his deadbeat dad trying to get all the money he can from her, usually by threatening to take custody of the son he has nothing to do with. An invitation and tickets from her sister Hazel to visit Sangrin, gives Rosemary the chance to get away and see her sister and her alien mate Seeran. While visiting, the Mahdfel Warrior, Mene, Hazel's brother in law, is sort of manipulated by his mother to take care of Rosemary and her son. He takes Michael under his care and gives the boy the experience of having a strong male influence in his life. Rosemary sees how much care Mene shows to her and her son, and begins to care for the scarred Warrior who would really like to have a mate and family of his own. This is really a sweet romance in the making with it's moments of humor that make you giggle over some of the antics and words, well made up swear words as Rosemary does her darndest not to swear. Although this is one of the longest books, it never left you wanting to or even daring to put the book down. This is a book I urge anyone wanting an exciting romance with an alien and humans that gives you all the feels you could want. I look forward the the next Warlord Bride Index book!
At first, I wasn't sure I was going to like it but decided to give it a try. Glad I did. This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. I didn't think I would like it because it was the "human woman has to marry an alien" idea. I often have a hard time with this trope because I don't like the idea of women HAVING to marry someone and quickly they are madly in love with him. This book is not that. Rosemary leaves Earth to visit her sister who ended up marrying the H's brother. Her low life ex keeps threatening to sue for visitation rights to a son he could care less about. Her brother-in-law, Mene, is tired of his mother throwing females at him. He want to find his mate in his own way. Rosemary ends up being his mate. Where this book veers from the typical-you are my mate, we must be together- is Mene doesn't really tell Rosemary this. Through some bureaucratic BS, they end up agreeing to mate. Their relationship develops naturally over time then. It was wonderful to see them come together as a family. Of course there is some miscommunication but it's very natural.
🚀Have Rosemary and her son found their perfect haven in 🌌 outer space with a purple warrior?!💞 April 25, 2018 Format: Kindle Edition 👍4.5 stars Really enjoyable and long on humorous moments, Nancey Cummings has done a great job on this 🚀sci-fi 💕romance between an alien warrior and a single human mother who lives in fear her son's deadbeat human father will win custody of seven-year old Michael. When she finds a possible way to escape the threats of her greedy ex, the romance begins.
MCs Mene and Rosemary are grudgingly attracted and brought together through their siblings (MCs in Cummings previous book, Seeran). I liked both of them, and Rosemary's son is always good for a funny or tender moment.
Much of the story's humor relates to human and alien understanding each other's idioms and cultures. This includes some incidents with food, "crabs", and Mene's incredulity and disgust at the violence in Earth bedtime stories. I really love romances with humor and this one had plenty.:-)
As to the romance, the 🔥heat was restrained but appropriate to Rosemary and Mene's growing closeness. I don't mind steamy scenes, but some writers rely on them a bit too much. Cummings flirts around the edges and I actually find that more appealing.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Rosemary, Mene, and Michael are priceless! Out of money, without a car, out of a job, harassed by her ‘baby-daddy,’ Rosemary needs a break. Her sister, Hazel, comes through with tickets to Sangrin for a visit. She and her son Michael are on their way to a super adventure! Rosemary’s baggage from the past continues to color her outlook and creates trouble in her budding relationships. She has a strong spirit, a good heart, and a loving nature. She will tackle anything/anyone who endangers her son. I got a big kick out of the creative words Rosemary uses instead of swear words. Such a good mom!
Mene is an admirable Mahdfel warrior with a difficult job and an interfering mom. He takes Michael under his wing and gives him some badly needed male influence. I thoroughly enjoy Mene’s subtle (mostly) courtship of Rosemary. Their mating ‘dance’ is unrivaled entertainment. I love it!
Rosemary decides to visit her sister and brother in law on another planet to get a break and escape from her ex who is trying to get money from her and threatening to take her son away.
A situation arises where she has to marry in order to stay on the planet. Mene, a Madfel warrior, offers to marry her. Mene knows what she is to him but their road to peace is rocky.
I didn't like some of the decisions Rosemary made at the beginning of the book or the fact that she expected so little of men that Mene had a hard time convincing her he really wanted to be her mate. Some scenes jumped around a little and while Rosemary's sister, Hazel, and Mene's family were prominent at the beginning of the story, they seemed to drop out of the picture for most of the book.
But overall I absolutely loved this story and highly recommend it.
There was a really odd feel to this for me. It seemed like there was an underlying tone of something bad was going to happen. Specifically with Nals and Charin... it really felt like something was being setup there. I didn't get that part of the story... this was the first Mahdfel male that felt... not honourable? He came across as a sleazy bully... it felt like there was more to his disdain of Mene than we were privy to. And Charin? First time I can recall coming across a nasty woman in this universe. They left a bitter taste and kind of tainted the whole read for me.
I also thought there would be a little more drama with Vince. I didn't get the point of that being included in the story and it made no difference whatsoever to the outcome of the tale.
Great read! I am really enjoying this series. In this book Rosemary goes off-world to visit her sister and get away from her ex who is bleeding her dry and threatening to sue for custody of their son if she doesn't give him more money. There's an instant spark between Rosemary and Mene but they always seem to be at odds with each other. I kind of loved Mene and he was very patient with Rosemary who I sometimes found myself getting a tiny bit annoyed with. I also feel like the story moved a little slow but it was good nonetheless and I really liked the epilogue. Looking forward the the next book of the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I loved this story. It made me laugh out loud a lot. I thought it was well written and a great story with just enough sexy times to make it interesting. Relied on teh story and not sex to make it great. It was a great take on a single mother finding the love of her life. Of course she had to leave Earth to find it. I loved that we got to see Hazel and Seeran again. And Mene's mother was an absolute hoot. Once I started reading had to finish it to see what crazy thing would be said next. I love this world.
This book wasn't actually fun read. The characters are not your super drop dead gorgeous, fall in love at first look, conscientious do-gooders. These characters are snarky, dangerous, scarred, has horrible taste in males, lack of confidence in their looks and both hate being told what to do.
That description alone should have you when you rush and pick up this book. Oh let's not forget we have a managing mother who wants all her son married with grandsons on the way.
Rosemary and Mene are not a match made in heaven but on another planet all bets are off.
I'm a stickler for an apology. I honestly need a character to not just think remorsefully but to actually show it and apologies for his behavior. Mene is a big gruff teddy bear, but he's also a bit of a dick in places and while that works with Rosemary, it just feels disrespectful to her.
Rosemary initially left Earth to visit her sister and get away from her ex. She stayed because she thought she could make a good life for herself and her son and she could get away from that money grubbing ex. Additionally, she had a strong attraction to Meanie, alias Mene. Now Mene immediately knows Rosemary is his fated mate but didn't think she could love him because of his facial scars. Rosemary never looked at his scars as scary. She grew to love the man he was. There were a few complications along their road to happiness. Great read!
This is a review of the writing, not a rehash of the publishers blurb.
This is a first in a series for me to read. It was easy to get into the book, and the world created was not a hard concept to get into.
This is a simply written story line that does not create any mysteries. Characters are predictable and the story has been written many times in other genres.
I am going to try one other story in this line before not reading anymore.
This was a good story although the MFC made me mad with the choices she made with her baby daddy. Fortunately for her, she accepted an alien mating with a real rockstar that was determined to protect her and her son as well as love them with all his heart. This book was about the importance of communication! Great world building and when the steam came it was hot!
This one was nice and different. Mene isn't a traditional soldier and Rosemary is a single mom. With the other stories set in the same world, the female protagonist is stubborn, independent, and meant to be with a Mahdfel - and yet, doesn't want to. I absolutely loved how quickly Mene accepted Michael as his adopted son. I thought Rosemary held onto her preconceived notions for too long with the length of the story, but it all worked out in the end.
I loved the Warlord series,(never git to finish this one :( unfortunately) but these books were on another platform that I worked hard on to read, (purchased by $ and time with stupid long ads) and now, I can't read them there anymore but have to BUY them to be able to read again on kindle. It why 2 stars. I've reread several repeatedly, but now I have to start from scratch? Great author, but I'm not sure I like how she does business. There's nothing like giving your loyal readers the bird. I wouldn't mind buying them on Kindle in addition to having them on the other platform, but I think this is crap.
Single mom making her way the best she can ending up on a alien planet.
She's been put through the wringer and has managed to keep her son clothed and fed. Men are not to be trusted, so how come her sister's alien brother-in-law makes her feel safe? Read to find out how they work for and against one another to reach their HEA.
While Index book (1) was a prequel (2) isnt, it's more like a sideways step. Rosemary's sister is already married to Madhfel warrior. Who is Mene's brother. They met at his parents home, when she came for a holiday. Rosemary has no intention of falling for him, she has her son and a nasty ex, more than enough trouble for her thank you. Sue P
I’m so happy to see this couple make it so many years two more children and their relationship still going! How exciting! I’m glad they grew as a family. I want to read more about the Judgement clan and their mates! I kind of want to know what happened to Cen and his mate...
I enjoyed this story. It was well developed and had interesting supporting characters. There was snappy dialogue, bad guy ex, sweet 7 yr old and a hot single Mom who gets her hot alpha alien mate. It really was an interesting read.
Loved it! This was a sweet and funny romance that has been added to my favorites list of books in this series. I couldn't help but love Mene and Rosemary. Even with trust issues between them, they have a chemistry that is hard to deny. *I was gifted an Arc for an honest review*
Fantastic storytelling with just the right amount of loving and supportive mates! I love this series and am looking forward to seeing which warlord is next to find and Wii his mate.
