Blood magic can either save or destroy their city.
With the true threat revealed, Sam and Alec search for Master Helen and decide upon a dangerous gamble to uncover her plot. When Kavers turn up injured and drained of blood, they fear they might already be too late.
The search for Helen leads to a discovery that changes everything Sam thinks about the Thelns and convinces her she needs to go after her brother. Reaching him is dangerous and will leave the city unprotected, but if she doesn’t, a far worse fate awaits.
As Helen’s plan unfolds, Sam and Alec race to stop it, but they must discover what she truly intends or everyone with blood magic will suffer. The key to stopping her is a secret kept from everyone in Verdholm for decades, but that same key might be integral to her success.
This could have been such an epic series of books, but the author (and editor) has let it down so much!
I really wanted to find out about all the mysterious powers of the scribes and kavers, but the series ends with not a single character arc being complete and so many loose ends left flapping, including the ending, which to me is like one giant, flapping loose end.
There really should've been another book to complete the stories of at least the main characters. In every book it was annoying that noone could teach them how to use their powers, and it was always hinted that there is so much more, but we never get to find out what that more is. I doubt whether the author knew what the more was, which is why it was never written about.
The planning of this story was awful in that there didn't seem to be a lot of planning. Plots just wander off and come to nothing, sentences are copied and pasted from one book to the next.
I really wish that this story had been better planned and written. It has the potential to be a really great story.
I enjoyed this series so much! I can’t believe that this is the last book. I want more of Alex and Sam! It seemed to me that this last book was written more hurriedly leaving gaps where I was hoping to get more details of what was going on. Non the less this was a great series. Very well written by Mr. Holmberg. I intend to continue reading more of his works if they were as good as this series. Highly recommended.
The final book and hope not the last adventure of Sam and Alex. Alex and Sam final learn the turn. Can they save the city and all the land around? Sam left for Thelma to find her brother, Tray but she learn more then what she was plan on. Alex go to Meg for help. Great story.
Alec and Samara’s story may be done for now. I hope to see more of them in another series sometime. With help from their friends, and some they didn’t realize were friends, they were able to stop a devastating threat. I thoroughly enjoyed this series.
This series is a great read, the story will keep you turning the pages and the characters will have you rooting for them throughout this series. Don't start with this book, start with book one and the who;e series. If you don't you will not understand what is happening. Great Reading Everyone!
There was a level of believability which many fantasy genre don’t quite make it. The characters grew through the series. Is there going to be another book in the series. I hope so.
This was a fitting ending for a wonderful series. The storylines all have their endings and Alec and Sam get the answers that they had searched for. The same excellent story telling that D.K. is known for.
This book had it all and was very satisfying. So much action, story lines coming to fruition. Kind of sad to see Sam and Alex leave my life. Recommended.
With many twists and turns this series is good. There are a few inconsistent things but I just ignored those as the overall story is good. Nice job D. K.
