Persistent Chronic Pain Problems

Rate this book
My Book Introduction.
Millions of people suffer from chronic persistent pain. The medical terms are confusing so I have attempted to simplify the language of pain so that my explanations are more easily understood. My idea of beginning with a case report is a method of making the explanation more alive and real.
This book is aimed at medical students, nurses and the lay public so that they can get a basic understanding of problems they may come across. The cases are of real patients with real problems, but their names have been changed so that they cannot be identified. If the patients have behavior that is not appropriate they should still be respected and helped to solve their problems so that they can function normally.
The medical terms have been written in in simple terms where possible so that they can be more easily understood. Generic and trade names in brackets are used to make them available.
David Simmons is a retired Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists with 30 year experience in anaesthesia and pain medicine management in the UK, South Africa and Australia. He has also taught medicine at the University of Sydney which has made him a brilliant educationalist not only to students and colleagues but also to the general public.
