After 14 years on walkabout to New York, Colorado, Texas and Tokyo, I swam home to spawn in shoreline Connecticut. A recovering computer programmer, I’ve worked in the seismic industry, semiconductor electronics, academic research in biology and environmental science, and online teaching simulators.
I live alone, and enjoy swimming, walking, and crafts. I grow vegetables indoors, until my crops spill outside and down the driveway. I read voraciously, curious about everything, especially how things work.
This is another author that I follow faithfully. She’s created an important vision of the world beyond climate change: many have died but the true drama lies in how the survivors deal with a world that has taken an unscheduled left turn.
I think Ms. Booth’s series of books are well conceived and should be discussed by scholars and planners as a way to explore the consequences of inevitable climate change. It would be useful to discuss which parts of her dystopian imagination are most likely and what actions need to be taken now to minimize the impact.
This is the 3rd book of the Feral Series. There are a couple others and--along with the Calm Act Series—Ms. Booth is now up to 10 or 11 books. In this novel, we follow former gang-rat, now death angel, Ana Panic, who is out alone on her first mission. We travel with her across Canada, the only continental power left in North America, as she journeys from her home country, Hudson, to Oregon which lies unreachable across the expanse of the former United States.
Well, there are issues and there are dangers, and you’ll have to see how Ana rises to the occasion. The story is a good one, and it will entertain you in a dystopian sort of way, but the real value is as a warning. Winter is coming. A hard rain’s gonna fall. It is time to prepare.
I have set the bar high and Ginger Booth always leaps higher. When I saw that the author had come out with another book I stopped reading all of my other books to read this book.
The latest Feral America chapter of the series is decidedly another fantastic book. Ms Booth writes her stories with such accuracy I wonder if she has done first hand research. She is on par with Bruce Sterling, William Gibson, and Doug Beason in how she brings you into her world. Describing the lightning in the sand storm is the detail that she brings to the book. She also refers to the Calm Act story line as well as the players. She also uses strong female leads without making them dependent on the male characters. Her topics bring together taking care the older people along with the younger people. Ava naivety gets her in trouble and is also a great asset. Ms Booth brings about the process of the maturity Ava goes through. There are so many correlations with issues that we are going through today. Her writing just takes us there without us knowing it
Ginger Booth delivers once again. All the books I have read of the Calm Act Feral America series have been fantastic and this one is no different. The world building is so amazing because it is so utterly believable. Ava has a solo mission whereby she has to cross into hostile territory. This time, she has no backups and no clear cut directions but this daunting mission matures her and you are left in no doubt that she is a kick-ass agent in her own right. Canada is an eye-opener for her but the dust bowl is magnificent in a terrifying way. On her journey she meets up with old friends, makes new friends and puts herself on the radar of some very powerful enemies. If you like apocalyptic or dystopian stories that have a believable backbone, then do yourself a favour and get this series - you won't regret it.
Great book . I love this series. Ava, as an 18year old, really pulled me into her feelings and emotions. And we see a wider view of the both american continent. As normal in this series, we see the dichotomy of personalities, reactions and situations. The instance which stood out was that one group of the us military rejected the death angel idea and one group went with it, more or less. I would've liked to have seen more of Cade with Ava and I was holding my breathe regarding their relationship. I always hope the survivors will totally survive not just continue to exist. Last... I want more of this series and I want it yesterday! I tried to read this slowly, to make it last longer, but I just couldn't.😢 😭 But I can start to re read it now 😍😁 so that's a plus.
Love three road Ava it's on, I sincerely hope, From kind gang rat to another, her adventures continue! I would love to see he team up with Dee for something!!! I hope our MSF friends make some more appearances, I am still enamored with the six degrees of separation on these series, with the return of some of my favorite characters making entertaining returns. I am seriously curious, overwhelming so, with the plans Skull has for our young couple- nice hinting with no resolution, guess I just have to keep reading!
Ava has grown into the leader Case knew she was. On that journey she finds friends, not so great friends, new perspectives, and a rescued gang rat. Overcoming fear, anger, loneliness and losing her trainer along the endless miles of the train ride across Canada to end up striking a blow to the NL while making the connections that will build up her home Hudson!
This series is well written and loads of fun to read. I also think it is improving with each book. Off to buy Feral Carolinas!
Another amazing read from Ginger Booth! There is great depth and detail in this future us. Her characters are well developed and interesting as all get out! The story takes many twists and always maintains high interest! Loved this book. Love the whole series.
I just love the world building, the depths and layers of the characters, and the desperate race to salvage some kind of civilization. I hope there more of this world is some form!
As always, Ginger does not disappoint. A continuation go her previous series, the feral are interesting and kind of amoral. A really good and fun read from a writer who understands the world she created and knows how to take you on a tour.
I am still so totally into this series. It is awesome! Well thought out, well written, and oh, so satisfying to read. Ava takes a trip across the country and it's amazing.
Who could have imagined what little Ava was capable of? Turns out she is very capable of finishing a job with a bonus on the side! I can’t wait to finish this series.
The worst part of this book is it is the third book in a trilogy!
I am on my fourth reading of the whole world. I start with the Calm Act, then read the prequels, and then on to these. I keep holding that one of these days to find a new book. The women are strong and still unsure that the men they love will stop loving them back. I hope for some reason the women will band together to break out some women and children from hillbilly hell. I want the boys to show up and Ava, Kelly, and just a bit more Dee quietly have fixed any problem that has come up. I would like that Dee learned the hard way to be a partner you don't compete, or be overly assertive. Women have different skill sets. We know how to do things men dont. Polish up her skill set. This will do more field trips ,newkids with different way to a ark. I would be interested in the preppers. I really want to know about the Ex-Usa arks.So I will start to read from begining.... Ok so I all ways check for something new ....and We have a new book coming out.being of Septem Deeber!!!!!! I am quite excited
