The Plant Lady’s Roots Are Showing (Up)! Eden Tywyn just wants a quiet life, far from the past, and the pain. Packard Falls was supposed to be that life. But her past is coming back at her with a vengeance, and attacking everyone and everything she’s slowly growing to love. With her back-from-the-dead husband finally behind bars, things should be returning to normal. But the head of the Thorne family tree, Camille, is coming fast for HER head. It looks like the Plant Lady has her job cut out for her – but can she face the coming storm and somehow get the Thorne clan to leave her alone once and for all? Third in the “Plant Lady Mystery” adult cozy mystery novels, Eden Tywyn’s life has grown from quietly watering plants in a small mall to becoming intertwined with the odd – but zany and lovable – characters of Packard Falls. Through wild car rides, exotic food, and delightful animals (especially Max), she comes to understand what community and family really is. (Check out the story using Amazon’s “Look Inside” feature.)
This series only gets better! The 3rd Plant Lady book did not disappoint. It kept me at the edge of my seat through the entire book. I couldn’t put it down. With each book you get to know Eve and Ronnie a little more and Camille gets a lot meaner. Lots of twists and turns. As with the first two books, the plot thickens and the characters get more intense. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes intrigue, a developing storyline and great writing.
Eden Tywyn, plant lady at Packard Falls’ Cambridge Mall, hopes she can finally get some rest. Her back-from-the-dead husband, Calib, after assaulting her, is finally behind bars, facing a long prison sentence on federal fraud counts, and she and her friend, Veronique, have survived being kidnapped and nearly killed. But, along with a hangover, she is depressed, because her vindictive mother-in-law, Camille Thorne, continues to be a thorn in her side. Camille is determined to develop the mall for profit and blames Eden and Veronique for blocking her. In addition, she seems to be engaged in a personal vendetta against Eden. The Plant Lady Grows a Pear by Gwen Pankhurst is the third book in the Plant Lady series, following the misadventures of Eden and her eclectic set of friends as they face off against unbridled greed backed by great wealth. Action, introspection, and evil deeds are woven in a tapestry of entertaining reading—and, for dog lovers, a valiant dog who saves Eden’s life in more way than one. This series just keeps getting better. I particularly like how the author wraps up most of the loose ends of the story; yet leaves an opening for further adventure. I received and advance reader copy of this book. Another five-star presentation by Pankhurst.
Eden and company are back! The third book in the series picks up the day after the second book ended...love that!
Eden is now facing the manipulative ex-mother-in-law, Camille, who is trying to buy up land for development in Packard Falls - and she won't be denied. Trying to find out who is friend or foe and trying to solve the mystery of Eden's beloved Grandfather's death becomes a tool that can be used against Eden and her friends.
I enjoyed the growing friendship with Ronnie, Millie, Maud and the rest of The Cambridge Mall shopowners and quirky, lovable characters. Eden herself is growing closer to these people who want to help her- slowly, Eden's walls are coming down.
The addition of Pal the dog who was rescued in book two, is heartwarming, throw in the 30lb half Siberian cat Max and you have quite a pair of furry friends for Eden!
I can't forget the mysterious character, John who is just as much of an enigma as she is herself! I can't wait for book 4!
WOW this one was really intense. There was a lot going on. It really held my attention. I love how the Eden is really coming out of her shell. I look forward to the next adventure.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I just love this series. Eden is a great main character. I enjoy all the other characters that inhabit these stories. I was sad to see Pal go.I hope this author continues this series.
