Alison grew up in England and lived in Israel and Mexico before settling in the USA. Despite being the proud holder of three passports, she is not on any national or international Wanted list.
Alison’s short stories have been published in the USA and Mexico. As a former clinical social worker, she has presented at conferences worldwide and been published in academic textbooks, anthologies, professional journals, and newspapers on feminism, diversity and mental health.
When she’s not writing, Alison can be found chasing dolphins, messing up her knees because she insists on playing tennis, or planning a road trip with her wife Carol, and their two rescue dogs.
I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this story. It’s the first in a mystery series and certainly lived up to its genre. The main characters, Gordy and Kat both have their own story developing and interlinking events that build throughout the story.
I loved the twists and turns it took as the mystery was unfolded, and that I couldn’t guess where it was all going, or what had actually happened. This was one of those books where you think you can figure it out because of the way it is started and set up, but then you are left in shock when you actually start learning about what has happened!
Fantastically written, with very likeable main characters, and sundry characters that have their own problems and personalities worked in. I am hoping some of these great characters will feature in the following titles in the series.
Very much looking forward to reading more of the Gulfport Mystery series. Highly recommend this interesting start to a very promising series.
This book isn't really a mystery, though there's a crime. But it is an interesting lesbian novel that I liked because it deals with complicated questions of ethics and with the incredibly problematic US immigration system. One of the main characters, a professional woman from Mexico with a green card, faces the possibility of deportation even though her child is an American citizen.
I just finished binge reading all three of Ms. Solomon's books since she said that previous characters make an appearance in Timing is Everything. Two of the major characters were in the previous books and it helps to know what their stories were when reading this one, but it could be read as a stand alone book.
This was well written. The plot kept me interested even when I thought I knew what would happen. I was wrong, of course, because the author did a great job of developing new details that fooled me. The characters are interesting and multi-dimensional. We not only get a good mystery but also a glimpse into what it's like being an immigrant to the US.
This is the first in a series and I am looking forward to the next book.
Astonishingly and brilliantly written novel of strong women who surpass obstacles to find answers. They go far beyond the meaning of friendship and passionate love. The relationships among the well developed characters were remarkable. The entire series was such a good read. I couldn’t put any of them down. The prequels are as important as this book. I love Ms. Solomon’s writing style and will read all of her works. It is my hope that she writes a second book in this series. I enthusiastically and unequivocally recommend this work and any others by Ms. Solomon. Thank you. Peace
This story shows a return to form. Except for a bit of thrashing somewhere in the middle, the plot moves along well, characters are sympathetic, and the resolution is better than one might expect.
O livro é muito bem escrito e pretendo continuar a série
I've just finished listening to the audiobook of Timing is Everything by Alison Solomon and enjoyed it very much. It was cleverly woven and gripping and I could imagine the characters in my mind's eye because the descriptions were vivid without becoming tedious. I also loved hearing the author read her own creation.
