How can he love a woman who doesn’t know her own name? Angela Wilcox has lost her memory. Pregnant and alone, she has no idea who she is, where she’s from or how she found her way to Montana Territory. Hank Oster is the new Deputy Sheriff in Bozeman. And he’s on the trail of a gang of cattle rustlers. When he discovers a beautiful, young woman alone in an abandoned cabin in the middle of nowhere, his first instinct is to help find her family. But he soon discovers she has no idea who they are or where they might be. And it seems she doesn’t want to know. The last installment in the Paradise Valley series of clean, historical, western romances, brings new characters home to Paradise Ranch, while old, beloved characters will have their whole world shaken to the core, as they bid the ranch a final farewell.
Vivi Holt writes inspirational romance. Of her books, readers say:
"The plot kept me enthralled and the pages turning" "I cried and laughed" "What an awesome ending. Can't wait for more!!"
Vivi lives in beautiful Brisbane, Australia with her husband and three young children. Growing up on a farm she learned to love the country life and now she writes about it in her books. History has always fascinated her as well, so writing historical romance seemed a natural progression. She loves horse-riding, hiking, and reading.
Her goal is to write touching, emotional and sweet romances stories that captivate the reader and transport them to another place and time.
Forgotten Trails is the fifth (and last) book in the sweet contemporary western romance, Paradise Valley series. A unique and captivating story with romance and a happy-ending that we all have come to expect. Like all of Vivi Holt series, this is another story that I had a hard time putting down. It is such a passionate, unique and captivating story. Angela is a scared pregnant girl that doesn’t remember who she is or where she came from. When Hank finds shelter and finds her, she doesn’t know if she can trust him yet she feels that she can. Hank takes her with him and is determined to find out who she is and what happened to her. What they didn’t expect was to find a growing connection and trust within each other. As I have come to expect from this author, the characters are well developed and engaging. I really like that Vivi Holt creates characters that are easy to connect to and realistic.
Vivi Holt spins a remarkable tale in such a way that it will keep you entertained from beginning to end. Mrs. Holt brings the story to life with love and support that will keep you reading and not want to put the book down. This book is just what I have come to expect from this talented author. I recommend Forgotten Trails to anyone that likes to read sweet romance with a happily-ever-after ending.
When Angela arrives in town, pregnant and no recollection of who she is, Ost takes her in and has that feeling that she is the one. But with her past unknown, and a possible husband coming to find her, things move slow. The question is, why can't she remember? Vivi Holt once again has woven a beautiful story to get lost in as the 5th and final book of the Paradise Valley. Ost is a wonderful character. He is loving, attentive and protective. Angela is vulnerable and brave. They have a great chemistry and I love how Angela blooms under the people of Paradise Valley. The story also includes some issues of the times, taking on the women's right to vote as well as the search for cattle rustlers. There is also the threat of Sarah's past coming to harm her family and gives us that peek into Cutter's Creek! It's a fun and heartwarming story and a wonderful way to end the series.
Amanda Stribling has this historical western romance genre mastered and she gives an amazing performance. I love the twang she gives the men, the gruffness to the evil rustlers and both strength and innocence to the women. She nails the story and I could not have enjoyed her portrayal more.
I am so sad this is the last of the Paradise Valley series. I have enjoyed each one tremendously and so wish I could visit!( yes I know it is fictional but what a great place and people! Then can run over to Cutter's Creek!) Vivi Holt has brought this place alive with her insightful descriptions and dialogue, it has felt like a real place. This is Hank, or Oster, as he is called a lot and Angela's story. Hank is now a deputy sheriff in Bozeman and after a vicious gang of cattle rustlers. When he is on the trail, he finds an old cabin, thinking abandoned, but finds a young woman, large with child, alone and not knowing who she is due to a bad bump on the head. It takes a winding journey and deciphering clues plus a growing love that cannot be denied. What is amazing is the visit with other's on the ranch and resolving another story, all that tug at the heartstrings as you listen to the wonderful narration of Amanda Stribling as she brings the words of Vivi alive...

4 stars I purchased a copy of Paradise Valley Series book 5:Forgotten Trails by ViVi Holt and this review was given freely. This is a bittersweet romance, with a touch of political concerns of the time, and although there is a sinister undertone, this novel has less graphic violence then the others in the series. Life moves on with in Paradise Valley with families growing and moving away. Hank Oster leaves the ranch to become a deputy and marries a pregnant Angela who has amnesia, Bill and Sarah decide it is time to return to Cutter's Creek after Sarah's unsettling visit to the Crow's camp, and Tom and Genny receive visitors from back home.
Deputy Sheriff Hank Oster discovers a pregnant woman in an abandoned shack...and she has no memory of how she got there or her name. Hank takes the young woman to Paradise Ranch, where his friends recognize her as part of their former wagon train. Where are her parents who had been traveling with her? Hank just may find out while he hunts down a band of cattle thieves. Hank has fallen for the beautiful woman but can anything come of it? Sweet story that leaves you cooing. Love the ending. Great job by the narrator. I accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This series was excellent, following one story after another. It just kept building on the stories like layers on an onion, getting better and better. My favorite book of the 5 in this series was Lost in Laredo.,Book 3. There wasn't much more that could have happened than what Vivi Holt brought into these stories. They were very fast paced and book 3 I found I could not put down. I read until 2 am.
Another great read by Vivi Holt. This is the story of Angela and Ost. Their life together doesn't start out like a traditional romance, but love has a way of working things out. The only sad part about reading this book is that it is the last book of the Paradise Valley series.
He finds her in an abandoned cabin while searching for a rustler. She has amnesia so her takes her home. He falls in love with her but figures she’s married as she’s pregnant but there are surprises in store
This book is about a young woman who lost her memory and the man who found her. There are some twists and turns in this book that enhance the story. Enjoy the story I did, Now to read the first four books!!!!!!!
I really loved reading this book! I loved the characters and the plot! I had a hard time putting this wonderful book down! I loved reading all of the books in this wonderful series!
This story had old friends catching up on their lives. Some danger and justice to be served. Sadness when friends leave for a new journey and growing families. Ost gets his happy ending after he saves a pregnant woman who is hiding from a criminal who abused her. With God, new friends and Ost's love Angela will get the healing she needs to return Ost's love and be his wife.
