He’s quiet, a thinker who is always three steps ahead of the game—in and out of the ring.
Trenton “Trick” Jameson is a mystery, even to his fellow fighters at Diablo’s Throne. They only know him as the Country Boy Brawler who left home to chase his dreams. His band of brothers have no idea what he's lost or left behind...
And that’s the way Trick wants it.
With a champion title tied to his name, his future is endless until the raven-haired beauty became his game changer. Mack owned him the moment she stumbled into his world.
Trick could have never seen the sharp turn his life was about to take. Everything always catches up with you, whether you like it or not. And now, all he's fought for is on the verge of being destroyed.
USA Today Best Selling Author, HJ Bellus is a small town girl who loves the art of storytelling. When not making readers laugh or cry, she's a part-time livestock wrangler that can be found in the middle of Idaho, shot gunning a beer while listening to some Miranda Lambert on her Beats and rocking out in her boots.
I think this is my favorite in this series so far, and that's saying a lot as the first 2 books were amazing. Who doesn't love a good, nice, white knight with muscles? So much story in this one little book. And a lot of humor thrown in. This is definitely a MUST read for 2018.
Trick was HJ Bellus’ third book in the Diablo’s Throne MMA series and I’m hoping it won’t be the last.
Trenton “Trick” Jameson was known as the “Country Boy Brawler” in the MMA world. He left his family in the small town of Idaho to pursue his dreams. He was a fighter but always wanted to go to college for his accounting degree so he attempted both simultaneously.
Mackenzie “Mack” Graham was the clumsy but deathly shy introvert that had a simple and understated beauty. She was used to being the freak of her environment and ignored everyone around her while trying to hide and become invisible while she earned her degree.
I loved the opening scene. It set the stage for a mysterious yet sometimes funny story. We received Trick’s POV solely for the first four chapters. I loved Trick’s version but was totally craving the reclusive and socially awkward Mack’s perspective since she was such a mystery. Bellus played it up well then we were graced with both POV’s until the conclusion.
I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and both characters. It was a mixture of sweet with Trick patiently pulling Mack out of her comfort zone and sexy - no explanation needed - and emotional when addressing both their past and current issues.
There were a few scenes near the end that I would have preferred fleshed out more versus referring to incidents and skipping over the details; otherwise, it was well written, well developed and enjoyable. Bellus hinted to a story for Boss; however, she also hinted this may be the last book. My vote is to not only have Boss’s story but have Riot’s story as well. And hey, a spin-off with Trick’s high school buddies or students at his gym would be awesome too. Either way, more Diablo’s Throne please!
Trick is just gentlemanly at times, “when we are together, I pay. No exceptions. You’re not going to argue. It’s the way I was raised. ” I kiss her sweet, cherry-flavored lips." Trick has inform his woman on some things, “you can’t be considered a farm boy’s or cowboy’s girlfriend if you haven’t romped around in the hay a few times.” I loved this book, I loved Trick he was protective and caring.
Trick is the third book in the series and while it can be read as a standalone it's worth your time to read the others in the series.
I'm a sucker for Alpha males and their protective nature and Trick had this in spades. He left home at an early age to pursue his dream of an MMA fighter. Because of his dream, his father has disowned him but he's built a family with the men at the gym. He realizes he can't sustain his career and needs to go back to school for a brighter future.
Mack literally stumbles into his life. She's smart, shy and caring but years of emotional distress and abuse have left her weary and scared. Mack has a small circle of people she care and look out for her but nothing compares to the connection between Trick.
One look at Mack and Trick is brought to his knees. I loved the instant chemistry that these two had. Their connection never seemed forced or one sided.
At times the storylines seemed over the top but the author knew when to real it back and focus on bringing us a good story.
I was sad to to this end but I enjoyed the way it ended. The transition from the heart of the book to the epilogue was well done.
I am addicted to this story. Heck, I'm consumed with this series. My heart was completely invested in these two characters. They're both woven perfectly with Heidi's words that you can’t help but fall. A perfectly written book that gave me all the feels. In Heidi's special way, she had me laughing on one page. Tears ready to fall on the next. Such an amazing story. Trust me, you need a whole lot of TRICK in your life. Kathy Coopmans USA Today Best-Selling Author
"These fighters at Diablo’s Throne are a special type of men."
This series is quickly becoming one of my fav sportsbooks. This one was even better! In the second book of the series, we see more of Trick and his shy way. This guy can beat everyone in the cage but can also blush like a school girl. It's so sweet! These characters are awesome, and I have a lot of fun reading it. Trick was trying to move on with his life after he left home to follow his dream. His father did not like that he moved out and away from them so their relationship is rocky, to say the least. He's trying his best to fight his way through the MMA scene and is getting more and more attention with each victory. Mack is a sweet girl that has a past that everyone knows. She spent most of her life hiding from people that teased and made fun of her because of something she didn't have any control of. She just wants that, to be invisible, get her degree and build a non-profit organization. She did not expect to fall for a big fighter and have her life changed because of that.
This book is really good and it's kind of different than the first two... In those, the heroines were strong and kept her head high. In this one, Mack chooses to hide so she can pass unnoticed and Trick will help her see her worth and how much she's loved. This book is such an inspiration, it's really beautiful. Mack will begin to gain confidence and get on her own two feet because of Trick's help and that was awesome to read. She grew and became the woman she was always meant to be. That end though... God, I almost cried. But I was glad to see everything was fine. I'm also super anxious because of the hint HJB left at the end about a possible book for Boss! Yes, pleeeease! 😍 Oh, and one for Riot too! These Diablo's men deserve every book, they're awesome!!! Great series! <3
I don't even know where to begin with this book. I enjoyed Trick and Mack's story so much I finished it in 2 hours. Leaving Idaho and everyone behind Trick heads to college and train for MMA with Diablo's. But sometimes leaving doesn't always work the way you planned and you end up back where you started. And sometimes even the best plans work out different in the end. For you never know just when someone may land in your lap changing everything.
This book is amazing. These MMA brothers are so different from each other and their girls are so awesome! Trick is far from Jag but who needs more than 1 Jag! The world couldn’t handle it! So far I think Trick is my fave!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Trick the cowboy brawler, what a sweet caring, possessive cowboy you are, this book had twists and turns you didn’t see coming, it will have you in tears in some parts, laughing at diablo thrones antics and getting ready to fight with them when needed. You get to hang out with Cruz and jag and the gorgeous woman and hang with the main man boss aswell Loved this book hard
This series continues to surprise me. I really enjoyed Trick's ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫 4.5 stars story. It was filled with many emotions from all angles were I couldn't help but constantly swoon for this MMA fighter. He left home to make more of himself and the risk of leaving was hard leading him to pick between the family plans and his want to make it on his own terms. He is sweet, sexy, and an alpha male that you cannot help but fall head over heels for.
"Lesson to all of you-no matter how bad you think your life is, trust me, it can get worse. Way, way, worse."
Clumsy "trash girl" Mackenzie "Mack" Graham literally falls on MMA fighter, Trenton "Trick" Jameson in class. This random occurrence lead to something more and also ended up being paired as partners on a class project.
Mack prefers to keep to herself. There was something strongly fierce about her that appealed to me and of course Trick regardless of her background, her personality, and random things she does that has an underlying meaning that are eventually revealed. The encounters she faces and the the affects it had on her made her a one of a kind girl.
Trick's curiosity on the girl leads to wanting to protect and watch over her. Something about her intrigued her in ways he least expected. Someone totally not his typical type.
This couple is my favorite in the Diablo's Throne series. There is always that one person, the one that will spark you for more. The one that will push your limits and be patient with you at the same time. Hesitant for more and afraid to let your walls down. The risk is greater and the fall is deeper and it is a step in breaking free the demons that are holding you back. This is a read filled with chances for more...personally, emotionally, and physically. It will take you on an unforgettable ride.
OMG! OH. MY. GOD. Just. Ohmygawd. I knew I’d like Trick before I started it. HJ Bellus is one of my favorite authors ever, so I started this fully expecting to enjoy it. But I more than enjoyed Trick. I effing LOVE TRICK! Not like “Oh this is gooooood” love. Nope I full on stalker level love this book. I fell fast and hard for Trick and now must recover from an epic book hangover. HJ Bellus took this series to even higher levels than it already was with this addition. Trick, my man, I did not see his greatness coming. Each man in this series is completely unique and totally different from others yet still family in every way that matters. More mellow than previous books but still packing an emotional punch that hits you right in the feels. Trick is by far the sweetheart of the bunch. Well, as sweetheart as a total and complete bada*$ can be, but you get my point. I lost count of the times my heart absolutely melted with how he was with Mack. Mack was so fragile but Trick saw the strength buried inside her and the way he gently pushed her to see that *swoon* nothing short of pure beauty. Trick and Mack together stole my heart. The entire Diablo family had me smiling, laughing, and feeling warm and fuzzy. This book is magnificent!
As you open the pages of this book you will be instantly wrapped up in a bear hug by the magic that surrounds Trenton “Trick” Jameson. Being the MMA champion fighter that he is, Trick will always be moves ahead of you so you will never see it coming as he sweeps you off your feet. As Mack stumbles into Trick’s world it will be the toughest fight of his life as he tries to bring this beautiful soul out of the shadows and into the bright lights of the living. This couple will discover that true love and real family will always be your loyal supporters. HJ Bellus will drag every emotion from you with this 3rd book in the Diablo’s Throne MMA series. You will laugh, smile, cry, be heartbroken but best of all this story will leave your heart so full of happiness it will feel like you will burst.
Seriously love this series! I love this group of friends who are truly family! Mack made me sad. She had a horrible start to life that no one ever let her forget. Kids are cruel but even as adults these people were cruel. She was a scared little thing with no self confidence. Until her big strong hero Trick came in and saved the day. I absolutely loved watching him build her up, give her strength. She blossomed into a strong independent woman who in turn held her hero up when he started to crumble. The story came full circle! This was a love story but it was a story of strength. This couple and this family have a bond that can't be broken. It is too STRONG! I have to admit my favorite parts were with the loveable goofball Jag. He is just too much sometimes! I really hope there will be more in this series. I feel there is a love blooming also I am just not ready to say goodbye to this fun gang.
What a great continuation of the Diablo’s Throne MMA series. I loved Trick and everything that he is about. There are some stories that just grab you and make you not want to let the characters go and this is one of them. I wanted more! It follows Trick and how he gets into MMA and how Mack literally falls into his lap one day in class. Can he break her out of her shell and show her how to live and love. Emotional, heartwarming and suck-you-in type of read. One you won’t want to put down and will keep you wanting more of these MMA fighters. I loved every single page of this book. A must read book and series.
5 SEXY TRICK STARS!! Love, Love, Love Trick!! This story will touch your heart with all the feels. Trick and Mack are fantastic characters and have one check of a story to tell you. The Diablo's Throne series is one of my favorite series every. This is one book and series you will want to read.
My life now looks like a car without brakes. Lol. Once I end a book I automatically start a new one. Sometimes I forget the time and dig in but the problem is that sometimes I stay awake till the sun is almost up and I need to go to work... Crazy right?? H. J. Bellus had been in my book life for a few months and the impact that had made me want to read non stop. After the first book I was doomed. Her writing is intense, breathtaking, hot and wild. Each chapter have the ability to hook you up and make you want to read non stop. Trick is her latest release and it's the third book from the Diablo's Thorne series. Let me just say that despite all books are standalones you should read Cruz and Jag first, doing so you will know all characters better and understand this new book. This books explores Trick and Mack's lifes. Trick is an MMA fighter that lives for this sport. He's a champion but he hides so much. He left his hometown seeking for the chance to train with Boss at Diablo and to become the best fighter. He did it but how can he forget his past? Now he enrolled in college to get his degree. Mack is a sweet girl, super shy and clumsy. She doesn't have friends her own age, but she loves the seniors at the senior centre she volunteered. One akward moment and she ended up in a super hot guys lap... I'm not saying another word because I don't spoil so go read it. This book is beautiful. I'm still smiling after reading it. The plot is amazing, very well written, super engaging and intense. It was amazing to see the struggle these two endure and the way they grew up. The connection they share is beautiful and you will be hooked. The story progressed smoothly and quickly, with some ups and downs and you will love it. How can you find yourself if others keep putting you down? How can you truly be happy when you miss your rock? Each chapter was a breath of fresh air, despite all the sadness that sometimes we were greeted, there where other parts when I laughed so hard. It was amazing to have news from Layla and Cruz and don't forget Belle as well as Sunni and Jag. And girls... The got stuff is there too. Oh boy. H. J. You rich woman. This book was amazing like the other two were. I can't wait for the next one. There will be a next one right? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Trick is the third book in the Diablo’s Throne series. They can be read as standalones, but if you love alpha MMA fighters I recommend reading the whole series. I loved this book and have to say it is my favorite in the series so far, but I am sure that will change when I read the next book!
I love the brotherhood of the Diablo Throne fighters and how they always unquestioningly have each other’s backs.
Trick’s story is no different. He is following his dreams of becoming a fighter, but knows that he cannot fight his whole life and has started taking college classes for his future after fighting. He meets Mack in class and is paired up with her, so they are forced to get to know each other. This is fine with Trick, but not Mack. I loved everything about Mack. She has a debilitating shyness and no self-esteem at all. Life has not been kind to her. She was abandoned as a baby and raised by an uncaring grandmother. Trick takes her under his protection and watching her wings spread made this story everything.
Trick and Mack start out as kind of friends, but the more he talked she ran. I loved that he never once pushed her for more than she could handle. He knew that if he pushed too hard it could end in disaster, but he also knew that she needed to be pushed to a certain point. Everything about these two was perfection for each other. I loved their chemistry, and the genuine friendship they had. I also loved the fact that there was very little drama between them and when there was they did not make it a thing. They went into this knowing they wanted to be together and did not get in the way of their happily ever after.
HJ Bellus has written a series that makes you root for love and happily ever afters. I love how this series is more than just the main characters, but all of the characters from all of the books. It makes me feel so much more invested as a reader and I cannot wait to read the next book!
There is so much to love, to laugh and to cry about in this book. It is every emotion you could ever feel.
In a continuation of the Diablo’s Throne MMA series, this is book 3, and after Cruz and Jag, we get to read Trick’s story, and wow! Once again, HJ Bellus puts a story together with her trademark writing of tension and steam pulled together with a layer of humour endemic in most families, where characters always try their best to wind each other up.
This is why we love MMA romances. The men are in the toughest of sports, yet they show the most respect to those around them, and some like Jag, have given their balls to their wives to keep safely in their purses! There is nothing funnier than grown ar$ed men afraid of one angry pregnant woman.
I love everything about Trick. He’s one huge world title winning fighter, yet he’s back to college to pursue his degree, and when the clumsiest and cutest girl literally falls into his lap, he feels attraction on a level he’s not felt in a long time.
Mack has had the most tragic of starts to life. She’s introverted to a fault, topped off by a healthy dose of clumsy, making her a target for ridicule throughout her school years, and now those boys have seen her trip and fall again into the lap of a massive, and gorgeous man, they’re at it again! Well, not on Trick’s watch, and even as Mack is scared to engage in life, and with him, his gentle persistence makes for beautiful and heartfelt reading.
You have to read this book. It’s an amazing story that also showcases the triumph of success over not only the little things, but overcoming the big things in life that shape us. I hit this book in one sitting – who needs sleep anyway! And, it you haven’t read Cruz, and Jag’s books, you’ll find you have to now. 5 Stars.
What!!??? Just say what now!! Trick just blew Cruz and Jag completely out of first place!! And this series just keeps getting better and better!!! This book tho, this book, lord have mercy this book touched me so much. That Heidi will have some work cut out for her to top this one because just daaammmmnnnn woman!!! First off I had a feeling Trick would be my favorite from the beginning because two reasons 1. MMA fighter and 2. Country boy can you say Kryptonite!!! Then add on that Southern charm with the manners, the protectiveness, and of course all that Alpha just mhmm lord love a duck!!! And Mack she’s his perfect match in every way. She just needs that person to bring her out but protect her at the same time. But this book also to me has so much more angst in it to me. And the surprise’s and all the twist that will blow your mind!! I mean my heart actually broke in certain parts of this book, I recommend Kleenex while reading. I was completely consumed with this book and the only time I set my kindle down was when I had to wipe my eyes from the tears. But never fear there is happiness as well. HJ has absolutely hooked me on this series and it is one of my top favorites ever. And Trick has definitely landed on my top favorite books of 2018!!! I know I have not done this beautiful book justice on the review but trust me you need to read this book and this series and I highly recommend in order.
I am sooo in love with HJ Bellus MMA men!!! These books have been soo freaking good and such a great page turner with all the bad ass fighting and drama going on...ohh and then let me mention, the romance in her books are off the charts HAWT!!! Goodness...I can't get enough..lol
Trick is the next book in the Diablo Throne books. I feel like you could probably read each as a standalone, but in each book, Bellus gives you glimpses in the lives of the other guys and to me it just makes you fall more in love with each guy and his lady even more. You would definitely miss these great stories if you didn't read in order..in my opinion..lol
Trick grew up on a farm. He never had the same dream as his father. He loved fighting and loved beating the shit out of something. But don't get me wrong, he may be a bad ass but he was sooo saweet as well. I fell in love with his softer, caring side of him as well!!!
I gave Trick 5 "Man I am in cover lust" iScream Cones!!! Thank you for another fantastic book Heidi!! I think now we need a book that is a follow up with all the guys on vacation or holiday with their girls..lol I just love these guys!!! xoxo
Trick may very well be my favorite from Diablo's Throne gym. Trick, the Country Boy Brawler, knew ranching was never where he wanted to be. After being forced out of his parents house by his mom to follow his dreams, he never looked back. That doesn't mean he never thought about it, but never wanted to return. Mack is a clumsy, introvert who literally falls into Tricks lap the first day of class. And this woman has him intrigued from the very beginning, never can get the thought of her out of his head. So slowly but surely he cracks that shell and tries to show Mack there is so much more to life that always looking down. Little by little Mack is shown how to live and love, and that family can be everything to a person, even when they aren't looking for one. This sweet, loving, emotional story shows how two people who are very different in what they need still need each other. I love that Trick made me feel like I was reading the old works of HJ Bellus; the small towns, ranchers and rodeos took me back! Thanks HJ for the nostalgic reflection!
This is a story about finding your place in the world and the people that become your family. Mack (Mackenzie) learns how to truly live her life and falls in love with Trick. Trick is smitten from day one and Mack becomes the center of his world. I loved catching up with Layla and Cruz, and Sunni and Jag, from books one and two in the series. The extended epilogue and the bonus emailed scene were perfect! This has become one of my favorite series, each book even better than the last.
Love Trick with his Sweet Ole Country Boy Demeanor <3 Trick is such a sweetheart and the protective instincts he has for the people he loves blew me away. Watching Mack grow into herself with the love and support from the Diablo's Throne MMA family was amazing. I thought that no one could top Cruz, but I have been mistaken (in such a great way!)
Would love to see more from the Diablo's Throne MMA family!
Absolutely loved Trick's story. The Country Boy Brawler is amazing and meant to be an MMA fighter. On the flip side, he is gentle and caring. Enter Mack, and Trick is exactly what she needs to help break her out of her shell. Loved watching her change and grow. Love this series and can't wait for the next one!
There is nothing to be said about this story but support, love, and encouragement.... Loved Mack and her growth and progress. Head held high and move forward.... This is another added gooden by HJ Bellus.
Let me not forget about my husband, Boss. ENOUGH SAID!!!!
Trick Book 3 Of this series Diablo’s Throne MMA was absolutely extraordinarily, i couldn’t put it down. I couldn’t wait to see what happened next when I turned the page. Trick and Mack both had some demons that were life changing they could make or break them. Their story is intense, steamy, filled with hurt and hope most importantly a lot of LOVE!! Family isn’t always a blood connection. Ok that’s it I can’t give any spoilers
Author HJ Bellus’ creativity is off the charts and you deserve to take this amazing ride. Go get these books now you will not be disappointed.
I loved Trick and thought he was a great alpha male lead for this book. I'm glad he went back home at the end. It bothered me a little that he "retired" to the ranch that he desperately wanted to leave. I couldn't stand Mack at all. She was such a weak female lead. I understand she had a hard upbringing but she couldn't even order a donut without freaking out? I must have missed it but why was she afraid of cars? She had a good role model of Gene in her life. I wish there was something more dramatic to make her the way she was. Overall, it was good and I would recommend it for a quick read.
