Tessonja Odette has done it again with the second book in this series . It is just as good of not better than the first book . To me when the first book is as good as it was it's sometimes hard to make the second book as good . No disappointment here at all . Everything that made the first book so good is here and the main characters continue to grow and we the reader's become more vested into the lives and the choices they are forced to make and the outcomes that happen because of them .
I basically read this second book in one sitting , so be warned once you start you are not going to want to put it down lol. Your drawed into the world and you can't out it down until your done reading .
I'm starting book 3 today and I can't wait to see where this story goes after book 2 .
So as I said before go buy this series you will not regret it at all . Tessonja Odette has created a story that has everything in it and it is executed perfectly . So buy it , enjoy it , leave a review which will only take a few minutes but it might be the reason someone else goes on this wonderful adventure . Now I'm off to read book 3 .

Okay, so that ending got me. I need to know how they fix all these bureaucratic and political messes.
Also #Can'tDimetreusCatchABreak2019? Just me? Okay.

So I won't talk about the romantic relationships, they still don't work for me, and I'll move to the characters. Cora is still a great mc, even if she gets too lost inside her personal concerns this time and important things escape her notice, but she's only human. I liked Teryn more in this book, he grew up from the events of Shadows of Lela and I don't hear any spoiled nonsense from him anymore; he's now brave, and I like how he's always been respectful and courteous and it still stands. Mareleau continued spoiled and dramatic until she was faced with the real world at the end, I'm expecting some growth in the last book. Larylis was mostly absent so I don't have much to say.
Now for the villain: no spoiler, but they are unsettling and I want them gone forever. Very well done.

How do I delve into the plot without spoilers in a sequel? Greedy adults suck, more bad stuff happens, these kingdoms need so much work, we need more arts aka magic! Oh. Set innocent people free!

Now let's finally fix the magic in this land, and do something about the Ancient Realm WOOO!

Oh my heart

I tore through these pages. My heart felt heavy, conflicted, and anxious the whole way through. There are so many complex issues woven through this story seamlessly. Lela has a richness that I didn’t think could get better. I was so wrong. The revelations from book 2 have definitely set us upon a path that will lead to something wonderful. I can’t wait to start book 3.

Whew! That ending was jam-packed! When I was about one third of the way through the book, I saw a thing happening and I was like, Noooooo! I didn't want to keep reading because I could see where it was going, and I didn't know if my heart could take it. I'm so glad I kept reading!! Of course there was conflict (like any good book), but it was handled well. It was exciting to see the world expand and see the characters grow and change. My heart broke for Teryn so many times. :( I loved Cora, and I especially loved seeing how her magic got stronger in this book. So excited for book 3!

I was lucky enough to be part of Tessonja Oddette's Street Team for the release of Veils of Mist, book 2 of the Lela Trilogy.

My dear friends, I must say that I loved this book. It was incredibly well written, and very engaging. I highly recommend this read to all fantasy lovers.

Book 2 picks up immediately following Shadows of Lela. The four Main Characters have found what they thought to be bliss, only to be gravely mistaken.

What follows next is an epic quest for happiness, truth, and love.

Check it out, and let me know what you think.

It was well written, kept my interest steady throughout, and was overall a nice read. Are there any spectacular moments that stand out to me? No. The couples dedication to each other is honestly my favorite part. And I liked the struggle Mareleau had, whether or not to take the tea.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Reading the Lela trilogy has got me so excited😍. I already finished with Book 2 Veil of Mist by Tessonja Odette

After a long exile Cora returns to Kero as a princess. But there is a lot of repair to be done on the land destroyed in the recent war. She is happy that she has her brother back and the man she loves. With one year until her marriage to Prince Teryn, they want to spend all their time together. But all plans go down the drain when they are separated to be on different journeys🥺. A moment of anger is all it takes for a fatal mistake to happen. Darkness is reborn in Lela. And this time no one would see it coming😱

I cannot even explain! This book was a crazy ride. I had to finish it fast to see what would happen as the anticipation to know the ending was driving me crazy😆. Once again the thrill of reading this series is amazing. Truly entertaining😍!! I was losing my mind waiting for everyone to realize what was going on right in front of their eyes that they weren't recognizing😯

The book also gives many twists and surpises with a nice action-packed ending. Also I am glad to get more backstory on our villain here which I had wanted since Book 1👌. Not just Cora but Teryn's character development is also great to see in the sequel and I am glad they are getting stronger as individuals💪. I hope they get to spend more time together after all the chaos they have been through and we get to see them grow stronger as a couple❤. I also saw good development on side characters like Mareleau whom I had initially thought to be a spoiled princess but now seems to take things seriously🤔.

I rate this one a 5 on 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I am so excited to see what happens between the two worlds and the protection veil in Book 3🤗. Thank you Tessonja Odette for providing an ARC copy for the review❤❤

I just finished listening to "Veil of Mist" and I have so many thoughts swirling in my mind. When I first started it, I kind of dreaded it thanks to the blurb announcing Teryn's faux de pas, but I think once I got over it (it wasn't as bad as I thought), I got so invested in the story some things stopped bothering me (like the fact I could stand only for so long Larylis' and Mareleau's voices).

With this sequel, Tessonja Odette delivers another epic adventure with far greater and darker ramifications than the first. There's more danger and twists, the story delves more into some characters' pasts, it transports the readers to other realms and introduces new characters, all while leaving one with the question, will it end in a cliffhanger?

As for the narrator, besides the aforementioned "but", I think she did a great job with the voices of all the characters both good and evil, as well as with the new ones and the foreign accents (though with English being my second language, it took me a bit to get used to the elven accent). I also think there was a "repetition" of sorts in one of the last chapters, but other than that, her performance was really good and definitely gives continuity to the series. ~ 4.5 stars

⚠️Possible spoilers for Book 1. ⚠️

Description: This is book 2 in the Shadows of Lela trilogy. It follows Cora, Teryn, Mareleau, and Larylis as they try to rebuild and get acquainted with their new roles after the battle at Centerpointe in book 1. Cora and her brother Dimetreus head back to Ridine to rebuild. Mareleau is chosen to go to Ridine as well, to help teach Cora how to be a Princess and ultimately a Queen. Larylis and Teryn are to stay in Mena to learn how to rule there. Everyone thinks the danger is over, but it is just beginning.

Thoughts: This book was amazing. I loved the first one so much, and this one managed to surpass it. This sequel managed to be better than the first which a lot of times is rare.

We get to see more into the characters’ personal lives in this book. There is more romance, and other platonic relationships explored.

The action was more of a slow build in this book, but it worked so well. It was suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I kept wondering how the characters were going to get themselves out of the predicaments they found themselves in.

The villain is cunning, manipulative, and so convincing. It was frustrating, but also entertaining watching all of his plans fall into place, and it seemed like no one was going to be able to stop him. I was worried up until the last ~20 pages, because the villain wasn’t slowing down at all. It really appeared as if he would win.

I can’t wait to see what the last book holds! I’m so excited!

If you like fantasy, romance, great villains, suspense, and some magical creatures, then this trilogy is for you!

OMG, I totally love this book! It might have been better than the first book, and that book was fantastic. I love the beautiful writing style that Tessonja Odette has. When she writes, she completely transforms the reader into a new world. Since I've been listening to this book, I've been bugging my poor husband about going on an adventure. (The poor man has no idea what to do with me! lol). Although, without a unicorn of my very own, I will probably be disappointed. Speaking of unicorns, I am absolutely in love with Valor. I loved how the narrator did his voice, and all of the voices and accents in this book. She really did an amazing job with both books. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Just like my review of the first story, I really enjoyed the story while listening to this book. I found the characters very engaging and well developed and the world building well done. My only problem is the narrator. She sounded very whiny to my ears and there wasn't a lot of distinction in her voices and tone. The male characters most often didn't sound masculine at all and the unicorn's voice was like a little child - the kind that grates on you. This is really unfortunate, because, like I said, the story itself is very good. I will read the last book in the series the old fashioned way, rather than listen.

An exciting sequel to Shadows of Lela. The story takes you to Ridine where Cora and Mareleau have to live their lives without their husbands, the twins Teryn and Larylis. However, Teryn decided to follow Cora and unexpectedly becomes a pawn in the battle for evil and good when Morkai takes over his body and Teryn's soul is trapped in a crystal. Cora sees all the misery and chaos around her getting bigger and tries to find a solution without losing Teryn. This is how she discovers El'Ara, the Ancient Realm.

Nice adventure story to read. A lot is happening and the young protagonists (between 17 and 20) are trying to save their world and maintain their love.

Cora and her brother Dimetreus return to Kero as the Princess and King for the first time in years. Things didn’t happen the way they planned. They are under the thumb of King Verdian. Nothing is going right and Cora is trying to cleanse the tower where Morkai lived. Teryn defies King Verdain and travels to be with Cora. Then the real trouble begins.
Cora has to try and save everything and everyone she holds dear as once again she is faced with a evil threatening to take it all.
This book was fascinating and full of amazing characters and twists and turns.
A great book full of fantasy galore.

Much is right with this book. But there was too much mushy romance thoughts. I suppose I’ve been in that zone, but I wasn’t convinced enough to be drawn in by that as a major component of the story. Which means a mushy bit near the end didn’t impact me like it might others. I was intrigued by Mareleau’s point of view, because how others perceive her is not flattering and I wanted to become one with her thoughts and identity. I think the author only partly succeeded here. Nevertheless, an enjoyable story with lots of interesting turns and one predictable bit near the end that had a satisfying but frustrating delay from when it was foreshadowed, and foreshadowed again. Will read the next.

If you’re looking for magic...

A great second installment. The plot twists are deeper and more than that of the first book. Fair warning, you’re going to get frustrated, you’ll kick, scream, want to shake people, all while not wanting to put down this twisted tale.

Narrator is great, good character differentiations and pace of reading.

Parents: reference to intimate relationships, gore, and a fair amount of blood.

Highly recommend this series.

Cora is back with lots of powers. Powers needed to help create and save the country against the devil himself. Lies amongst thieves but none really knows what is going on. Teryn is Cora's boyfriend but finds himself stuck somewhere he doesn't want to be. War, death and conniving people to do things that are not right. Good continuing story. Very good storytelling. Cora is putting her life back together as princess. Mareleau is chosen to go to Ridline to help prepare her to become queen. While Larylis and Taryn are in Mena to rule there. With a prophecy in play and evil that needs to be conquered, this book was interesting and exciting and I can’t wait to read the next one

This was even more twisted and surprise packed than the first book! We have some very intense scenes and some very tender moments as well. Finally towards the end we see a maturation of Mare that I hope we see more of in the series conclusion. Cora undertakes some very monumental tasks and finally shares her deepest secret with her prince. With everything up in the air it's up to the young heirs to band together and rule Lela. I cannot wait to see what happens next!!

Reviewed voluntarily and objectively

This book was much better than the first book! I believe it had to do with there being less action, and this is a personal thing, so I can’t really judge the book for this. The romance bloomed on all sides.

Secondly, this one focused more on royal politics, all while mixing the magic that we loved from the first. I love royal politics. The marriages, the debates over running a kingdom...it’s all great!

The villain in this one was good! Such a sneaky trick and I am happy it was resolved by the end. Onto the next one, which is shaping up to be more politics

I was given this ARC in exchange for a review. Same as the first book, really enjoyed it! They were very very similar in quality and clearness of wording, I felt like they were almost the same book, as if it had never ended! The plot got a little more complex in this one, and I liked seeing different relationships progress. I cannot wait for the last book!

Great 2nd book in the series. The fight for Cora's Kingdom was not over from the first book and Morekai manages an even more evil way to take the throne and use Cora and her friends to gain power. There is more about an Elven land and the veil between human and fairy and of course the amazing Unicorn Valorre to save the day!

~ 3.5 stars

Again, I struggled whether to rate this 3 or 4 stars, like the last book. I have to say that I did stop reading for a couple of days... Overall I think the story is interesting, but everything that bothered me in the first book is still present. I also don't like that Cora's powers are increasing without her consciously working on them or even using them often. I feel really bad for Dimetreus!!! :( I found Mareleau to be incredibly rude, snotty, self-centered and honestly just so annoying. I hope with everything that happened we will see Mareleau grow up more. I am hopeful. I still want to know how everything ends, but I do not feel as invested in the story as I would have liked.
