Insanity was in the eye of the beholder.

Harmon Little was a surveillance expert. He lived in the shadows, and he liked it there. There wasn’t a place he couldn’t get in and out of without detection. As usual with his mischievous nature, his current assignment went south, and he ran. He thought he was free and clear until he knocked someone over in a grocery store aisle.

Sanity wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.

Solomon “Solo” Poe was counting calories. Working out until he fell into bed hungry and exhausted. He was plain and pudgy, plus he couldn’t remember when he’d last gone on a date. He wanted more than the occasional, lights out, one-night stand. So, he was going to lose the weight and find himself a man. At least that was the plan, then a big man with a huge smile tried to kill him in a store aisle. There was one thing he was sure of, Harmon was his.

Dabney is one of my automatic one-click authors. I love the town she has created and all the characters. I wish I lived there. But, this book wrecked me. I went from crying to sighing at all the sweetness. There were parts that just tore my heart out. And there are parts that made me melt.

Poor Little. All he wants is someone to love him, touch him. He broke my heart. His history is so sad and there's no wonder he has insecurities. Thankfully he kidnaps Poe. But after he's back home, Poe can't forget Little. These two are so sweet together and just what the other needs. They accept each other just as they are. Poe is the perfect hero. He was so good to Little. And oh...mama Lily. Those scenes with her were so sweet and loving....perfect.

I'm looking forward to more...hopefully Daddy Gage is next!

3 5*

That was rather cute, a lot funnier than I was expecting but with a side order of dodgy doctor experimenting plot.

Little is such a sweetheart, his giant size matching his need to find someone for his own person. Poe proves to be just the right man for the job.

Both find something in the other which makes their life perfect and it was super sweet to watch them build through friendship into love.

The side plot I'm not sure really worked for me but I loved them as a pairing so much I let the rest slide.

3.5 stars for this installment. I enjoy this spin off series and love the range of characters. This was Little and Poes book. Little is the gentle giant with serious attachment issues. He doesn’t have the best social cues and this is evidenced by kidnapping Poe from a store when he felt lightening! Sweet really LOL - the only thing with Dabney books is that they go WAY too fast !

It's impossible not to love this series and all the crazy guys that led up to it.
In this one, we have Harmon Little, who came straight out the gate breakin my heart.
With the lowest of self-esteem and self-worth, a long life of being used and thrown away has him convinced that he's not worth being wanted, and he's never had a "person" or people who showed him any kind of love or affection, and it's something he wishes for so much.
People say he forms unnatural attachments, but jeez.... can you blame him?
So, after a talk with Lily about what happens when you find your person...like lightning bolts to the gut, he runs smack into Solomon Poe and feels it immediately. So, what does he do?

He kidnaps him.
Yep, grabs him by the hand, drags him to his van and drives off, with what I would imagine would be the cutest cheesy smile, thinking he's finally found someone he could keep. Unfortunately, Poe doesn't see it like that... he's just been kidnapped!
And I must be as weird as the people in this fictional world, because I thought that was just the cutest thing. Unfortunately for Little, it doesn't go according to plan, at first... but fortunately, it at least made an impression with Poe, because he finds himself calling Little and wanting to hang out.

They do the friends thing for a while, where neither of them think the other wants more... it's customary with this author, that the back and forth makes you want to punch something, the |he doesn't want me" and "no, he doesn't want me" until finally, one of them just gets over it and does something about it....

What surprised me the most, was that unlike the other books, Poe takes the lead in this one. It's LIttle who's the more submissive one and Poe is the more dominant one. I liked that. I liked that Little was the one that needed taken care of instead of the other way around. It made for a nice change.

Now, the side story in this, was a tough one.... I almost couldn't stomach the torture that Little had to go through for the sake of an undercover assignment.... don't worry, there's no cheating or antyhing, it's nothing like that... but it's almost worse, because why in the heck did nobody do anything for seven or ten days when Little was being drugged and tortured in that hospital???
The shock therapy, omg, I had to skim, it physically hurt me to read about it.
I couldn't believe they not only left him for that long with no contact, but they also had to leave him in the condition he was in, when he was quite literally begging to go home. I wouldn't have been able to do it. Knowing that he could've and might've died and they just left him?
No... wouldn't happen...I didn't like that part, and I'll admit, I almost stopped reading. I'm glad I didn't, because then I wouldn't have gotten the sweetest ending that Little deserved, but, I almost did.

Overall though, this one was just another amazing addition to an already awesome series.
I can't wait for more!

I absolutely love all of J.M. Disney's crew members and Little is just as heartbreakingly beautiful as the rest.
All little wants is to be loved and cared for but he can come across slightly nutty and he's got the build, tattoos and piercings that can scare some. But not Solomon Poe, even after Little kidnaps him......
One man is brawn and slightly off kilter while the other is short, cuddly and lonely yet they could be perfect for each other.
What emotion this story brings out! Sadness, happiness, heartbreak, amusement, worry. The histories for both characters are sad but Little's especially so. With love and support of his best friend, Lily, and the crews family he's been adopted into, he's got himself a job and home but is still lonely until he experiences the lightning spark upon literally running into Solomon. Though kidnapping isn't necessarily the recommended next step :-)
Solomon works from home and after being on the softer side for so long he takes up the services of a trainer. Upon searching for health bars he's knocked over by the most beautiful man who would, of course, never be into him. But by picking through random comments from Little and Lily that's what he surmised. He soon finds that he can offer so much to Little that the man wants and needs.
I love that we constantly hear from different crew members throughout all of the books and all of the characters are linked in different ways. With how many there are it's amazing the organisation it must take to keep track.
The MC's are well rounded and we're given the backstory for each, helping us understand their present day selves. Their interactions with each other are exactly what the other needs and it makes sense now quickly they are together for them. I would have liked to have heard a little more from Solomon's family but what we did get was surprising but wonderful to read.
I can't recommend this book enough, especially I'd you've read previous books in the series of by J.M. Dabney. I would recommend starting with book 1 in the series, or if possible at the very beginning with the Twirled World Ink crew.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

I loved Little and Poe. This story has everything. Little is a man who just wants love. I wished I could reach through my kindle and give him a bear hug. Then we Poe a small young man who Little accidentally kidnapped. I loved how they became friends before they became a couple. I cried and laughed in this book as it was a book full of feelings. My only gripe was the doctor. I hated that part of the story.

Just a little crazy

Oh WOW I just say I like this much better than Liv's story. Gosh Harmon was abandoned as a toddler and spent the majority his wife wishing and hoping for someone to keep him. He finds his family in Lily and her family then he finds "his person" . Acceptance is a beautiful thing. I really enjoyed this story. The doctor that was experimenting on the homeless is sad that such things continue to happen. Look forward to future installments!

Best Adoption Story

Even though I enjoyed the romance between Poe and Harmon, the relationship between Harmon and Lily really made the story worthwhile. I love how Lily and Damon adopted this grown man and treated him as their own child. Lily understood him better than anyone else and it was adorable. I’m also glad Poe wasn’t the cookie cutter hard body that is popular in gay romance novels

I am STILL sitting here crying off and on over this book. All of these books have hit me hard with what these boys have been through. I’ve raged with them, hurt with and for them, broken down over the guys like Liv and Joker. But this one, made me ugly cry in bad ways. I don’t want to give it away, but it is a very emotional story. Not one necessarily from abuse but from neglect. And it has just as much of a lasting effect.
Little ducked in the store when he realized he was made from a job he’d been doing. And on his way to running out the door, he bumps hard into the most adorable man he has ever seen. And like Lily told him, he felt the lightning as soon as he saw Poe. For Poe’s safety, in case he was being followed, he kidnapped the man and was so smitten. But with his brokenness and no one ever wanting him or wanting to stay with him, why would Poe be any different? But Poe was different. Something in Harmon called to Poe and he wanted this man with a fierceness he’s never known. But he’s just as insecure because he’s a bit chubby and soft. No matter how well he eats or exercises. But he’s had to put aside his own insecurities the more he gets to know Harmon, because he sees the need in Harmon for him and he’s going to make damn sure that Harmon knows he’s Poe’s.
The tears just keep pouring over this sweet and crazy man. Harmon Little is a big kid. He really is. He’s a lost little boy in a grown man who just wants to be touched and loved. But his past has left him doubtful, fearful and severely insecure. And his joking around is sometimes just a cover for what he’s trying to hide. Not always, because he’s a little booger. I was so happy when he literally ran into Poe. Even though Poe was a bit scared at first that he may be killed or something, he soon realized he liked this big, seemingly shy man. And mine was the only word that kept popping in his mind. He knew he’d have to be slow with Harmon. Love him, cherish him and adore him like no other. And the benefits from it were worth more than all the gold in the world plus some.
It is so hard when you crave affection and try to get it any way you can. Just a simple touch. A hug. Something. But when you’re denied or treated like dirt for needing it, it makes you turn into yourself and you doubt anyone who could possibly truly love you. Little has a hard journey in this book. It will break every inch of your heart. But the outcome from what he gets, is what makes it all worthwhile. Just one more man I’ve fallen in love with in these books.

ok, what to say about this book?!

3.5 stars
I enjoyed the story. Little is a big tough guy with serious insecurities. He worries that no one wants to keep him, be his 'person'. People (he is bi) stay long enough to partake of the monster cock, then bounce. All he wants is someone to touch him and to stay. In enters Poe with his body issues but with fewer insecurities than Little. He is all touchy which is great for Little. But wait, he is also exercising his dominant muscles. Him, of the yellow bow ties, has discovered he can instruct Little out of his insecurities with the right bass and firmness in his voice.

0.5 stars.
Now, all that being said, I couldn't stand the lack of editing. Names were interchanged with any characters in the story, including with secondary characters. I had to work to follow what was happening. I would have dnf for the editing alone. But I persisted. It didn't get any better. I would not be surprised that I got the story entirely wrong since I worked to just piece it together!

I don't know if I am willing to buy another of this author's books and take a chance on lack of editing.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I enjoyed this book. It was definitely an emotional roller coaster that’s for sure. I though Little and Poe were great together, and their chemistry was completely off the charts. Little was abandoned by his mother at only 6 years old. He never fit in at foster homes that he was placed in because he was considered needy. He has major abandonment issues and just wants someone to love him and stick around. He ended up running away from the last foster home he was placed in since he got told that he was going into a group home, He ended up selling himself for not only to get enough money so he could eat but for human contact and hopefully someone will love him and stick around.

Linus found out what skills he could do so he hired him as a temp when he was 18 years old and then when he moved back home to Powers and opened Trenton Security he was happy for Little to come too. Little found the family he always wanted but he kept them at a distance apart from his best friend Lily and her husband Damon who treat Little like their son. He’s different than all the other guys that they’ve adopted. I loved their conversation with Little after he rung them when he’d k*dnapped Poe from the Grocery store. Poe was thinking for a moment that he was going to be k*lled but he could see how vulnerable the big man was. I loved that even after the cluster f*ck of their meet cute Poe decided to give Little a chance to redeem himself.

I loved how Little and Poe’s relationship progressed. They became friends first before they became more. Man, Little is a total sweetheart and I’m glad that he found Poe as he accepts him for who he is, quirks and all. I enjoyed that Poe was the more d*minant of the two of them. It was so adorable how Poe used to wear his bow ties with the hint of yellow, to put a smile on Little’s face since yellow is Little’s favourite colour. Poe would do anything to make his man happy. I hated seeing what Little had to go through while on his undercover job at Carrington’s Clinic. Why did it take Linus and the rest of the guys at Trenton over 10 days of not hearing from Little, knowing what could possibly being done to him before they decided to check on him by sending in Poe to act as Little’s husband and with some legal help from Peaches and Gage being bodyguard for the both of them?

It got even worse when Poe, Peaches and Gage had to leave him there while he was practically begging to go home with them, even after seeing the state he was in. He was catatonic for most of their check in. It was also pretty hard to read about Little’s jumbled thoughts and feelings of what was happening to him while at Carrington’s Clinic. The Electric Shock Therapy he endured was also really hard to read, I kind of skim read over that, which I hate doing but I hated hearing the pain that he went through. I loved seeing Little and Poe get their much deserved happily ever after. I also loved seeing how much the Trenton’s love and care about Little as well as showing him that he’s actually a part of their family. I’m looking forward to reading Gage’s story next and seeing what makes him tick. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

This is the second book in the series and is Little's story.

I have to be honest, I went into this with no interest - up to now, Little has been immature, a prankster and has few redeeming qualities - but you'd think I'd have learnt not to judge a book by its cover...

Harmon Little. A large man, with soft green eyes (book cover whore moment), low self-esteem and no self-worth was given away by his mother at a young age. He runs away from a foster home at age 13 and lives on the streets and quickly learns how to survive - giving himself away for money but craving love and affection. He tries too hard to form an attachment just to feel wanted but this often ends in the other persons anger and they leave.

Lily has taken it upon herself to "adopt" the waifs and strays that come into the ever expanding Crews. She is particularly fond of Little and they have a strong mother/son bond between them. After one conversation of lightening-bolts when you find the "one" - Little literally runs into Solomon Poe in the grocery aisle and feels like he's been punched in the stomach - feeling this is his lightening-bolt moment he kidnaps Poe!

After the misunderstanding is sorted out, Poe starts a "friendship" with Little. Neither of them is forthcoming with their feelings, although it seems to be bubbling under the surface - each afraid to say anything because of the possible repercussions. And it's Poe who is the dominant one - I just loved the switch around from the norm of previous MC's. Poe is the smaller, soft and nerdy character but whips up a storm behind closed doors! But Little needed that lead, he needed the comfort and attachment that Poe offered - it simply made my heart glad!

I wasn't too sure about the mission, crazy doctor, torture and all - why Little had to be left at the clinic after the visit made no sense? Surely as it was a private institution they could've just walked out with him - I was heartbroken when they left and Little was escorted back to the horrors! More trauma to add to his already addled head! Thankfully, it all hands to the rescue, but not without a few difficulties.

It feels like the The Trenton Crew are trying to win "the most broken/damaged/crazy arse" awards! This book read well and I enjoyed it. There was a little more depth to a main character compared to the others, although I would've liked a little more around Poe too. The ending was super sweet and fluffy and I was left with a contented sigh.

The next book is Gage and Derrick.

3,5*

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-
Away-book like
‘Jesse's Smile' or ‚Joey’ from Angelique Jurd,
‘Save the at he kids' series from EM Leya,
‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or
'Liberty' from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a
WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises
(like most of Andrew Grey’s books)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few
times a year (most romances where you can
enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader,
maybe 2-3 times a year. It’s like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-
reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but
it was ok). It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too
many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an
absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole
line, dismissed, repeat the class

3.5. Adorable. I loved Harmon, and Poe was cute and quirky (loved the bowtie fetish) even though I never got into him as a dominant. He was too insecure in his own right for that. The author tried to compensate for that by having him doubt himself in his non-sexual moments but eh. I got what she tried to do because Harmon was just so insecure and needy (not in a bad way), but I preferred it when Harmon showed his dominant side. I liked that they switched it up.

The family angle was awesome, as was Harmon's backstory. All well done. The author kept referring to Harmon/Little as crazy and not right in the head, but it was more tell than show. I never really saw it; he just wasn't highly socialized.

Housekeeping: How did we not know Little had ink until over 80% in, and a lip ring until almost 90%? So Poe is tiny, but his mom is almost 6 feet tall and his dad is 6'3? If Little has cameras, why does he keep opening his garage doors without knowing who's out there lol?

Off to read Book 1 as I realized it's Daddy kink, even though some of the reviews have me worried!

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review

Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5

For the full review visit https://wp.me/p220KL-fZS

From that review:There is something just a little bit....softer, an air of gentle humor combined with poignancy that somehow lessens the bleakness that lies just under the surface of much of this story.  There is always a truck ton of darkness in a J.M. Dabney story, especially those associated with any of these interconnected series. But in   Little (Trenton Security #2) by J.M. Dabney, the author gives us an element of lightness, a fun tenderness, if that makes any sense, that could be at odds with the horrendous details of Little's backhistory, Trenton Security's jobs, or the hardness of the men around him.  But no, here is translates into a story about a man's overwhelming need to be loved, to be touched...to be claimed by a very special man in a bowtie. What an incredible journey J.M Dabney gives us!

OMG Loved it

This is a truly fantastic read with the sweetest couple going and I loved this book. Harmon Little is a big guy with a big heart who craves love and affection and wants a man just for him. Solomon Poe is a slightly chubby man who wants someone to love. When these two collide it was a lightening bolt what happens is a ride that you will not want to stop.
Please take notice of the trigger warnings as this book looks at mental health and how the past can shape and haunt us, This book show that family is not just blood and can I say I want to be Lilly when I grow up.
This book is the second in the Trenton series and although you don't need to read the other books by J.M Dabney, however characters from other books and series do make appearances and to read them will make the series and the world in which they reside richer and add depth to your reading definitely a high recommendation from me. Love these characters and Lilly rocks!!!

Not gonna lie, was weirded out about the way Little and Poe met, but overall it was a sweet, sad story. J.M. Dabney never fails to captivate me with her characters crazy antics and their lovable personalities. My heart broke for how much Little wanted to be loved, and when he found Poe I actually cheered.

One thing that I have noticed that I haven't touched on before is sometimes when there are more than two people in a scene and there is a conversation there is not an indicator of who is speaking, so I have to spend time to be like "Oh, so and so said that, and this person was who said that." It takes me out of the story a little bit because I am trying to figure out who said what. Just something I noticed.

Overall great story, loved Little's craziness and sense of humor. 4/5 for me.

This one will break your heart

Little ... Out of all the crew, Little is the most insecure and needy, and it nearly broke my heart learning why. For all his big, badass-ness, Little needs love and affection and touch more than any of them. When he meets, and inadvertently kidnaps Poe, Little realizes that he has found his "person" and sets about trying to woo him - although in the end, it is Poe that has to show Little that he is there to stay. This book had the most intense operation by the Trenton Security boys, and I was on the edge of my seat fearing for Little. The whole ending and epilogue were just perfect and I think this is one of my favorites of all the series. Although, I've probably said that before! 😁 I am absolutely on love with these books and characters and I honestly can't recommend them enough. So good!

Dabney has obviously never been introduced to grammar or punctuation, incorrectly substitutes similar words and near-homophones frequently enough to be notable, and the writing is closer to clunky than smooth.

If I were to draw a Venn diagram of reality and the world as found in Dabney's books, it would be two separate circles.

And the books are so chock full of cheese you could fry them and call them lunch.

I *adore* them.

They're perfect escapism - badass, sympathetically broken folks find their HEAs, all whilst being supported by a tight-knit community of equally sympathetically broken badasses.

The perfect trashy read. Keep 'em coming!!!

Love everything about these books!!

Omg this was super sweet and sexy and just awwww. I love Little! That guy cracks me up with his antics and has me tearing up with his insecurities. He just wants to be loved. Poe is a fantastic addition to the series! I love how she made him dominant! It was so hot! He’s just perfect for Little! I don’t know how she does this but every character is so unique and the couples (throuples) are always just perfect for each other! Can’t wait for the next one!!!

Finally Little's story

I have been waiting for Little's story since we first met him. Harmon Little is a little bit crazy and a whole lot of a sweetheart. When he meets Soloman Poe and accidentally kidnaps him I fell in love. Poe is the perfect patient man to deal with Little's crazy antics and he sees first hand what a sweetheart Little really is. I loved this book more than I can say. I also loved seeing old friends pop up around town. Harmon and Poe are my new favorites of all the crews.

4.5✨ Yay, another Dabney book!! 😍 Poe is right...Harmon is kind of adorable. I love that neither man is what one would expect by looking at them. Of course, it was awesome to see the crews. Plus a few new people! 🖤 And what happened in the last chapter? Awwwwe. 💕 Every time I get to the end of one of these books I have an instant craving for 5 more on top of the ones I already wanted! Lol.

I gave it 4.5 though, because the phrase “his man” felt too repetitive for me. It pulled me out of the story a few times.

This installment in the Trenton Security series didn't pack as much of a punch as the first one did and largely that was because I struggled with the characters. I liked them but the dynamic was very sweet and tender and that's not quite what I was looking for. I also couldn't do the undercover in the psych institution, I had to bow out half way through.

It's written beautifully and the characters are unique, they're very much not something you'd find anywhere else but just not to my personal taste.

While this is a sweet, at times funny, gay romance, it has a dark subplot that leads to a climax that I feel didn't work. Still, I very much loved the MCs and the way their brokenness makes their relationship work. There's a strong found-family theme that I greatly appreciated.

I want to give this four stars, but feel the most I can justify is three stars. This is primarily due to the dozen or so malapropisms (esp. using "laid" for "lay") and the bringing down the rest of the story.
