The perfect man for me is the one who broke my heart. #thanksbutnothanks
Once bitten. Twice shy. Yeah, I wish.
I'm on a mission to find myself a nice, solid, respectable man. The only problem is nice, solid, and respectable comes in a meh package and is B-O-R-I-N-G as hell.
It's been established. I have one type. Bad Boy. I tried the other flavors, I really did. But there's nothing like the allure of a man who takes what he wants without apology.
As if my love life isn't dramatic enough, Dean Bennett walks into my life again thinking he's going to win me back with his charm and charisma. He might come in a different package, but under that expensive suit he's still the same cocky, arrogant, pompous prick who only cares about numero uno.
I'm not that naïve young girl anymore so I have to ignore the fact that the way he looks at me practically sets my panties on fire.
Everyone deserves a second chance to right a wrong. The problem? He's not just an ex-boyfriend…
Piper Rayne is a USA Today Bestselling author duo. Our goal is to bring you romance stories that have "Heartwarming Humor With a Side of Sizzle" (okay...you caught us, that's our tagline). A little about us... We both have kindle’s full of one-clickable books. We're both married to husbands who drive us to drink. We're both chauffeurs to our kids. Most of all, we love hot heroes and quirky heroines that make us laugh, and we hope you do, too.
Man, this H gave me great grovel from start to finish. And we know how much I love a man grovelling. Sweet and safe story. Told only in the h’s POV. Standalone story in a series where I never read the 1st book and was able to understand everything and everyone. Ends in a HFN where it preps into next couple’s book.
Where the f***k is the grovel????? Seriously? All the 5 stars for this s**t? Can't believe I spent my morning reading this, based on the reviews it should have been amazing...and what I had is a needy and annoying h with her panties in flames every time that idiot of the H was talking to her. And the H, what an arrogant prick. Fuck off.
I just love it when I find a new author that writes with humor and heartbreak in such a way that it emulates everything women go through today.
No one wants to admit they’re miserable and girlfriends can only do so much for you. But sometimes the one person you thought you hated the most turns out to be the one person you’ve missed the most.
Chelsea had her hands full with this one. Her hot hunk of a dreamboat turns out to be her ex and all bets are off when he sets his sights on her. Seems she may not have a chance of escaping this sexy hottie! Such hardship! lol
Piper Rayne crafts an amazing second chance story that is humorous, heart-breaking, and so very swoon worthy too. After all who wouldn’t love a little afternoon delight with the man who can still ring all those bells for you?
Definitely a story that is sexy, humorous, and just an overall fun read!
This was little more angsty than what I'm use to from this duo. But it was great!
Chelsea and Dean were divorced five years ago after a whirlwind marriage while they were in college. Neither have gotten over the other, but Chelsea is doing her best to try when Dean inserts himself in her life. He's changed in the years theyve been apart and is determined to get the love of his life back. Does he? You will need to read this and find out.
I liked both Chelsea and Dean. Dean was a little smug, but when he flashed his vulnerable side...swoon. Chelsea had a secret...both in tth par and in the present. I get why she keeps quiet, and thankfully it doesn't drag to much. I like that she was mature enough to fix it when Dean found out and was mad.
You know how there are just some series that you read so fast you can't wait for the next one to hurry up whereas others can take years to read as you procrastinate and read other books ? For me, a series I have been loving this year and already read the prequel and now the first two books and will be sad to see it end is the Charity Case series by Piper Rayne. I love the characters of this series so much that I wish they were my best friends as they just seem to click so well with one another and their quips and banter just roll together so well. As we all know Chelsea Walsh is divorced and is our RISE dating queen . Just before her latest date, Hannah gets her to drop off something at their new tax attorney's office. She gets their and discovers to her shock and amazement that the new Tax Attorney is none other than her ex-husband Dean Bennett. For the past five years, Dean has been busy cleaning his act up and becoming a changed man and has one goal in mind - to win back Chelsea. Becoming the tax attorney for RISE was his foot in the door. Chelsea never stopped loving Dean but isn't ready for her heart to be broken again as this time she doesn't think she would be ever able to repair it. Can Dean prove to Chelsea that he has changed and would do anything to win her trust and more importantly love back ? Will Chelsea become Mrs. Bennett once again by the end of this book and this time have a little surprise for Dean ? Find out in Book #2 of this amazing series "Charity Case" a Romantic Comedy / Second Chance Romances - Afternoon Delight by Piper Rayne. What I also loved in this book was that we got see a crossover of characters from the other two series of Piper Rayne's - Single Dads Club and Bedroom Games.
For the life of me, I don’t understand the high reviews. The heroine is annoying. All her decisions revolve around her being in her ex-husband’s vicinity (like she just can’t help herself) but then laments about how he’s hurt her too much and will never give him the time of day 🙄🙄
As for the hero, everything was a joke to him. I couldn’t take him and his supposed ‘effort’ to get her back seriously. There was nothing about him that made him interesting or redeemable by any means. So I didn’t end up liking either of the main characters.
Swoon! I loved Afternoon Delight even more than I did Manic Monday. I was really excited to read Chelsea's story after being really impressed with her in Manic Monday, and here in her own story she shines even more.
She's on her way to make a delivery for her boss, and she's late, when lo and behold, who does the tax attorney she's making the delivery to turn out to be? None other than her ex-husband, the man who decimated her heart 5 years ago. Chelsea's body is still attracted to this charmer, but her mind, and her heart? Yeah, not so much, or at least that's what she tells herself. So when he starts making serious noise about wanting a second chance with her, she can't resist and soon she's letting him back into her bed. Just not her heart, at least not completely, because the walls she erected after their whirlwind marriage and subsequent divorce, are higher than ever around Dean (love the name btw!).
I was seriously rooting for these two as the pages flew by. He was so sweet and so determined to be in her life again and it was obvious he was a changed man. And Chelsea was the same sassy, irrepressible woman she was in Manic Monday only better, because we got to see her whole self, her heart, and why she didn't let anyone in deep where it counts.
Piper Rayne just keep getting better as this series goes on. Afternoon Delight is even sweeter, even sexier, and more swoon worthy in this second chance. Dean and Chelsea are so adorable together that I can't stand it. I know I called dibs on Reed in Manic Monday but I'm going to have to do the same with Dean. There's just something about the men in this series that check off all my boxes: sweet - check, sexy - check, swoony - check, and charming af - check and double check. I just know that Roarke is going to be just as sexy and swoony as Reed and Dean, in his and Hannah's story, (Happy Hour), can't wait!
This was a lovely second chance romance! I have not read to many second chance romances and I am glad that this one of the first! Chelsea and Dean got married when Chelsea was young, unfortunately their marriage didn't last long and they divorced. Five years later and Chelsea and Dean are in each others lives again and Dean would do anything to gain back Chelsea's love and respect.
One reason I adore this series is that is is funny! Chelsea had me cracking up, and she is feisty! Dean was so caring and just wanted to make Chelsea happy. Their love was so cute and their chemistry was great! I also loved seeming Victoria and Hannah in this one. Their friendship with Chelsea is just another reason why I adore this series! I love seeing friendships and good family relationships in books. While I obviously love the love stories in romance books their are so many other types of love to celebrate and I love when couples have more then each other in their lives.
Hannah's book is next and I need the cover and the story NOW!! Please pick up this series!! SO good!

Dean and Chelsea are the ultimate second chance. Not ex-boyfriend and girlfriend who broke up through no fault of their own...but a divorced couple who split up because the things that happened to them in their relationship were more than they could manage to get past...for reasons that you start to suspect but are fully revealed slowly.
Sometimes, it is nice to read a book about where the man just loves the woman. This is that book. Dean is back, because he wants Chelsea in his life. He messed up, he knows what he lost, and he wants her back. He owns this, he admits it, and he does all that he can to make it happen. And, for this book, that is necessary as Dean, and his actions, are the reason that they split in the first place, so he really does need to be the one who is "all in" from the beginning.
There are some hurdles, and some revelations for Chelsea, that crop up and sort of make it look like things are not going to ever be able to be put back together for them...but they work through it. There is a thing that is not resolved at the end of the book, but I am guessing, as there is another story to come, we will see that happy resolution in the backstory of the 3rd title.
*Read more of my reviews at Whoo Gives A Hoot* Afternoon Delight, the second book in Piper Rayne's Charity Case series is just another example of how this dynamic duo can do no wrong! This enemies-to-lovers and second chance romantic comedy is the perfect mix of laughs and angst, which is something that I've come to expect when it comes to these two incredibly talented authors!
After devouring Manic Monday I was ready to dive into the next book in this series and WOW did Piper Rayne deliver with the second book in the Charity Case series. Chelsea and Dean were a unique pair and I've got to say I really loved their back-and-forth banter that kept us readers on our toes from start to finish! I mean can we really expect anything less from a divorced couple?! I don't think so...and neither will you the moment you meet these two crazy lovers!
This book was highly entertaining with a ton of laughter! I absolutely adored every minute and I am already counting down the days until I can get my hands on Happy Hour, the final book in the standalone series!
5 years ago Chelsea and Dean were married in college. After walking out on him, Chelsea had not heard or seen Dean since and the last thing she expects is him to be her company’s tax attorney. Dean tries his best to win her back and show her that he’s not the same person 5 years ago.
This book was just one big miss for me. I couldn’t get into the romance. It just felt off. Angst was little to none. Too sappy and cheesy for me.
Chelsea and Dean's story started fantastically. I enjoyed every bit of it but toward the end, the story lost its drive in every "we need to talk about everything" hint and unfinished sentence that were meant to built up the drama. For me, it was the opposite... Plus, it got a little bit crowded there with all those cameos of previous and upcoming characters.
Afternoon Delight is the second book in the Charity Case series, and the first series of Piper Rayne’s that I have read. I read the book quickly, over the course of a weekend, and found many aspects of this second-chance romance irresistible.
This is the story of Chelsea, a woman who is rebuilding her life after the end of her impulsive first marriage. Since divorcing her husband five years ago, Chelsea has found professional success working at the RISE Foundation. Despite the heartbreak she’s endured, she’s still looking for her Mr. Right, albeit without much luck. When her boss sends her on a work errand to the tax attorney’s office, she suddenly comes face to face with her past. Dean Bennett has grown up a bit since Chelsea was married to him, and unfortunately for her, he’s also grown more attractive. Despite his matured looks and new career as an attorney, Chelsea is wary of Dean and his sudden reappearance in her life.
As it turns out, Dean’s divorce from Chelsea was the wake-up call he needed to straighten up his act. He’s spent years turning his life around, hoping to become the man Chelsea deserves. And now that he’s ready to win her back, Dean’s pursuit of her is unrelenting. Even while the former couple can quickly fall back into their sexy banter, Dean knows he cannot simply seduce Chelsea in order to win back her heart and her trust. Dean will do anything it takes to show her that a tiger can changes his stripes.
Afternoon Delight is a great continuation of the Charity Case series. I found myself drawn to Dean’s sexual energy, and frankly was cheering for the moment when Chelsea would once again accept Dean back into her heart. At one point, Dean is described as a “briefcake” (a beefcake in a suit), and there really is no better description for him. He’s smart, impulsive, sexy, ambitious, and so very athletic.
If you’re looking for a fast, fun, second-chance romance then I gladly recommend Afternoon Delight to you. I enjoyed the story from the beginning and only found myself investing more of my heart with each turn of the page. I look forward to concluding the series this summer when book three is released in July.
I absolutely loved Chelsea and Dean's story. I'm a fan of second chance romance and this is an example of the sub-genre done perfectly.
I feel like Piper Rayne have been hitting out of the park with the men on this series. I loved Reed, and now I feel like I equally love Dean just in a different way and for different reasons. I'm so used to the ex-husbands in the story being the bad guy. I'm still not quite sure I feel like the ex of the last book is redeemable enough to deserve his own story. But Dean? Dean was absolutely deserving and I loved everything about him, especially his journey to become the man he is now.
Chelsea was exactly what I had been expecting from the glimpses I got in Manic Monday. Comfortable in her own skin but with very high walls to protect herself. And those walls are in place because of the very man who wants her back. Despite everything I learned, piece by piece of their past, I was still very much rooting for them to resolve everything. I felt like Dean was the man for her and I just kept flying through the pages, heart in my throat, hoping she would see it too.
Once again Piper Rayne gave a fantastic ending that's going to have me wishing Happy Hour were ready to release already. Just a little tease, but enough to keep the next book in my mind until I can get it in my hands.
I’m just going to say it...Afternoon Delight was a delight. Plain and simple. It’s an engaging and heartfelt story that will have you believing in second chances.
Chelsea and Dean’s young relationship was one that burned hot and fast, but burned out just as quickly. For the past five years Chelsea’s done her best to move on and put Dean out of her mind. Dean, on the other hand, has used the last five years to become a better man, someone deserving of the love Chelsea used to give him. And he’s determined to do whatever it takes to win her back. I really felt for both C & D in this case, as they each suffered so much at the end of their marriage that it was hard to imagine them being able to come back from everything. But that Dean is nothing if not persistent and I just adored the way he was unwavering in his pursuit to make Chelsea his again.
Afternoon Delight ranks right up there as one of my favorite’s from Piper Rayne. I do enjoy me a good second chance romance and Dean and Chelsea’s story was right up my alley. I love when characters reconnect and you can just tell they are meant to be together, even with past dramas and heartaches. I love the fight for redemption and the surrender to forgiveness.
Afternoon Delight by Piper Rayne is the second book in the Charity Case series. But a complete standalone. And once again I LOVED the work these two authors do.
This is a second chance romance about Chelsea. She's trying to rebuild her life and is now looking for Mr Right, Mr Perfect. After divorcing her alcoholic husband 5 years earlier, she runs back into him. And surprise he's got his life together, and he's a lawyer.
Dean has definitely grown up and changed, but Chelsea is too scared at first to let him prove it. Dean wants Chelsea back and will prove to her he's changed.
Afternoon Delight is another fantastic read. With a storyline that is believable, and characters that draw you on and hold you captive. I'm a sucker for second chance romance and Piper Rayne gives us that, plus we get comedy, and smoking hot romance. I really enjoyed the story from the beginning, and I'm looking forward to more characters in this series.
*I voluntarily read a copy. This is my honest review.*
Piper Rayne, the incredibly hilarious duo, has struck again. Afternoon Delight was funny, sexy, and had me swooning throughout. I was immediately intrigued especially after the bomb that was dropped at the end of Manic Monday. I just couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. I love the dynamic that Chelsea and Dean brought to this series. I was already in love with their overall trope of divorcees with this series. What I didn't expect was the second chance romance of exes. In my vast index of read books, I've never come across one of this nature. And if I have, it obviously didn't stick with me the way this one has. Honestly, I wasn't sure how this would play out but P & R had me entertained right from the start. Now, I can't wait to see how Hannah and "the silver fox" situation plays out.
Audible Update: 5 Crazy Ass Must Listen Stars!!!!!
Kylie Stewart was so perfectly cast for this narration. She was great in giving every character their own voice. She really made what was already a great story and made it even better by bring it to life. I will not hesitate to purchase anything with her name attached to the narration.
4,5 Sterne
Absolutes Highlight in diesem Monat!
It would have been better if he groveled. There was no grovel and he missed her having a miscarriage because he was drunk. That deserves a snot dripping, on the knees, heave sob grovel. Disappointed.

Oh how I love Piper Rayne! I swear each book just gets better and better. I've loved every book they have released, but in my opinion, this is one of their best. Not only is it a second chance love story, but it also shows that even when things may seem like they are black and white, they rarely are and things happen for a reason when the time is right.
Chelsea Walsh has had her share of heartbreak in her twenty five years and while she wants love in her life, she's always been attracted to the bad boy type and that is how she got her heart broken. Married at eighteen, she had found the love of her life, but then everything spiraled out of control and it ended in divorce. Lately, she's been on a string of failed dates with more "respectable" men, but they just don't light her fire like bad boys, or maybe it's one particular bad boy - her ex-husband.
When she goes to a meeting with a tax attorney for her job at RISE, the last person Chelsea expects to come face-to-face with is the aforementioned ex-husband, Dean Bennett. The last time she'd seen Dean was the morning she walked out on him. Dean makes it clear that he wants another chance with her and that he never stopped loving her. While it's clear that the chemistry between the two is still alive and well, Chelsea is skeptical as ever that Dean could have changed enough for her to even consider making him a part of her life again. Will Dean be able to convince Chelsea to trust him again and prove that he's bettered himself in the last five years? Or will everything that happened during their short-lived marriage overshadow any chance these two have of a future?
There was so much to love about this book! The characters were so well developed and we learned so much about each of them as the story went along that it wasn't hard to understand where both were coming from. They both have baggage, some of which we don't know about at first, which made the story that much richer because you *knew* there were more proverbial shoes left to drop. These two characters were fighters and not in the literal sense, but they weren't going to back down from what they wanted.
In typical Piper Rayne fashion, the book was witty, sexy, romantic and entertaining. Truly one of the best books I've read so far this year. This was truly a delight to read and you won't regret one-clicking!
