Mindfulness is a way of focusing on the moment and letting go of past worries or future cares. In this little book of calm, each page is brought to life with beautiful and themed images. Combined with original pieces of prose, and thoughts to help you discover a moment of tranquillity, just for you!
Sarah Northwood grew up in a small town in Cheshire. As a child, she had a love of animals and music. After a career in pharmaceutical research, and starting a family, she became inspired to realise her dream of becoming a writer.
Her love of music continues, often composing melodies to accompany poetry pieces that she also writes.
Her two children are a constant source of inspiration, motivation and perspiration.
In addition, she works part-time at a local school and has a trusty dog companion to accompany her on writing adventures.
I took 15 minutes out of my busy weekend to have a moment of calm. The week ahead was going to be busy and I needed to refresh myself and be energised. I had received an ARC of this book from Sarah herself and I was delighted to read it ahead of everyone else because I had read her poetry work before.
The Little Moments of Calm did just what it said on the cover. It gives you that space to think and there were two pages that made an imprint on my journey and gave me that motivation to know I had it all in hand. One about healing and the other about glancing back at your footsteps. It gave me food for thought in a controlled and delightful way.
I believe my readers would gain a value from reading this quick and easy book that gives you some time to yourself, often enough we don’t do this and will continue with our work or day. I have returned back to this book a few times just to reminded of a particular poem/quote from a Sarah, it grounded me and they are memorable. Well done Sarah for bringing another beautiful book to your collection and thank you for allowing to get my hands on a copy before it went public. I am always glad to be able to support other authors and Sarah has supported me for a while now.
We need more little books like this. Simple, soothing, beautiful combi of images and sensible words. I liked it and it left me calmed....what more can I say ?
I am a lover of nature so, naturally, I felt connected to each of these simple moments of inspiration. The words, precisely arranged on each page, unlocked feelings of solace and motivation. Through Sarah’s soul, I felt tension release as waves of calm gently blanketed my being.
I also love the accompanying photos. The rich images add fuel to the poems. A flower bud is shown. As you imagine the petals unfolding, your inner beauty releases. Steps taken, little or large, can lead you to your future. Look back if the urge overwhelms you but remain steady towards your true destination. Wind in the sails, cotton specks far away in the night sky, a paint brush to inspire a new day…
This is a gorgeous book of short pieces of mindfulness prose, which you can dip in and out of as the mood takes you. Each page has a beautiful image that enhances Sarah Northwood's unique insights into calm and tranquillity. Take 5 minutes out of your hectic day-to-day routine and sit down with this book. Make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, maybe have a biscuit or two, and read a couple of these poems to brighten up your day and give yourself a boost. Whatever your mood, you'll find that perfect phrase you so need to hear today.
As the title of this book "Little Moments of Calm" is what the reader will find in each of the short poems. I found each poem had a different inspirational message, with the pictures, to help me invision the words. While I loved each of the poems, my favorite is the fifth poem by Sarah Northwood "follow your own heart, be faithful to your own steps and track your own path". I will be returning to read the calm words of this book to receive the calmness that I need in this busy world. I recommend all to read this book.❤
In this charming book the author has given us some calming thoughts. Life is a gift that we should unwrap with excitement and keep unwrapping. There are many layers of paper to pull away. What we find inside comes from the feelings deep in our hearts and the gratitude of a peaceful mind. If you feel a little overwhelmed sometimes open the book and relax in the words.
Such a lovely little book! I read the whole book in one sitting, but is arranged so you can read a poem a day. It had beautiful pictures to go with the beautiful words. I would recommend to everyone that would like to just sit and be still for one minute a day and enjoy this author's sweet words.
This is a short and sweet, zen style poetry book, full of wisdom and light. It was almost meme-like with beautiful pics of scenery behind each small poem, but I enjoyed every page. I read this when I really needed calm in my life, and I can imagine re-reading it again at some point.
I have been provided with a copy of Little Moments of Calm by the author for an impartial review. This little book is just a great way to relax and let the stress of the day go away. Each page was a different image with words to go along with it. The images and the words were just so beautiful and I hope the author brings more of these beautiful pages to life.
