After years of living a lonely life, abused and mistreated, only to be sold into prostitution as a young lady, Lily has no hope for a future and certainly doesn’t believe in any ‘God’. When John Taft shows up one day all of that changes and Lily will never be the same again. After an incident in which Lily gets thrown out of the only home she’s ever known, John tries to help by offering her employment as a maid at his house on his family’s farm. As they both soon learn, miracles do still happen and neither of them could ever anticipate what God has in store!
Ugh! Felt like I was reading a Harlequin novel with the Gospel message added so it could be called Christian fiction. Irony.....John takes one look at a local prostitute and feels he should "rescue" her since he admires her beauty and is responsible for her getting "fired". Lily, of course, accepts his invitation to go to his home. She has been abused and used by men her entire life. John begins lusting after her the moment she arrives in his home. Lily gazes at him with the same desire. I would think she'd want nothing to do with men at this point. Ugh again! John is a Christian , Lily is not....yet he proposes marriage so that he can "protect" her, hoping she gets right with God, and get her into his bed as this whole book is about his lust for her. I don't believe any other Christian fiction book has caused such a negative reaction in me.

This is a sweet quick read and I would have definitely given it 4 stars but I felt the ending was rushed. After all the courting, drama and presumed danger we don't even get to see the wedding or have a real glimpse of John and Lily as a married couple.
This is totally about forgiveness. Not our forgiveness, but Gods! When God forgives, our sins are washed away and we start with a clean slate. These truths are told in this sweet story! Great read!
