The story of Gilded Cage begins with mafia princess Ophelia and twins out to own her... But there's a villain preying in the darkness, and he's almost ready to strike. Ophelia Sokolov. Innocent, beautiful and spoiled. The daughter of a Russian mafia kingpin, I get everything I want with the click of my fingers. Except for him. I've been in love with Ryker for years, but I'm supposed to marry his brother, Max. Until that one fateful day, celebrating my eighteenth birthday when everything changes. There's evil lurking in the shadows, just like Papa said. And this time, I won't be able to hide...
A decent intro to the series. Very curious to see where it will go. I think if you want a little sample of this series, just read this and you will see if it's your cuppa.
I'm not really into kidnapping books, but I like the writing style and I love dark books so I will continue to see where it will go.
"Feather" is the prequel to the Gilded Cage series and it is gives an intense start to a dark mafia captive story!
At age five, Princess Ophelia (daughter to Russian mafia kingpin Sokolov) meets the Marinos brothers and she instantly is drawn to Ryker at first glance and later was introduced to his twin brother, Max. That very day, her Papa Sokolov announced that the two families would join an alliance (Russian and Italian) and that she as the eldest daughter would marry one of the Marinos -- Max, not Ryker. Precocious Ophelia whispered to her father that she was only five and the guests laughed but when she told her Papa that she wanted to marry Ryker instead of Max, well her Papa slap her across her face and it was then that she saw profound hatred in Ryker's eyes for Papa Sokolov.
"I hung my head in shame when I thought of him first. I scolded myself inwardly. I should never put Ryker first. Max was the one I was going to marry. Max was the one I’d end up with. And as soon as I got over my silly little crush on his brother, the better off I’d be. But it had been thirteen years… and it seemed like the crush was only getting worse." - Ophelia
~Thirteen years later while celebrating her 18th birthday, Ophelia's world changes when she would have to pay for the sins of her father by losing her entire family, Ryker and Max Marino! She then kidnapped by the cruel mastermind Kain and her life would never be the same again because he, Kain has plan his crime for 10 long years!
“This is your new home,” Kain told me plainly. “You better get used to it, and fucking fast too. You know, little orphan, you remind me of a bird….” - Kain
This is the FREE prequel that I snached just to see if was going to like it. Pf, not only did I like it, I freaking loved it! It was so intense, so intoxicating, so dark and so captivating. I can't wait to read more of Gilded Cage Series.
First - this is published on KU as "Entrapment" by Isabella Starling, but the Kindle Notes are tied to this book. It's the exact same book, so I'm not sure how the name & author changed, but whatever.
This is the pre-book book (only 59 pages) and it has my interested peeked! I'm going in blind so I have NO idea where this is going or what to expect. It might be a love triangle? Or why choose?? There might actually be 3 men with her - does that make it a love square (instead of a triangle)? IDK but I'm interested.
Ophelia Sokolov(18, virgin, Russian) is celebrating turning 18 just like every other Russian mafia princess - by being betrothed to Max Marino(Italian), while also being in love with his twin brother Ryker Marino. Unfortunately for everyone involved, an unexpected party crasher shows up. Apparently, Ophelia's daddy did some naughty shit because Kain wants revenge.
I'm so eager to start the next book. FYI there's no sex in this book. It's just the prequel.
Ophelia Sokolov is a bratva Princess. At the age of five, at is betrothed. However, she's in love with someone else. When she turns eighteen, her life becomes a living nightmare. She is kidnapped for revenge against her father's sins. Feather is a great prequel, giving us just a taste. Fawn Bailey knows how to hook a reader and leaving them wanting more. I can't wait to see where this story is heading.
Wowza!!! What an intense prequel to the start of a new series “Gilded Cage” by Fawn Bailey. Ophelia Sokolov is a bratva Princess. We first met Ophelia in the Rose and Thorn series. Her character was such a mystery up until the very end and now we are getting her story. In the prequel, we are taken back to a time in Ophelia’s life from age five to eighteen. In this very short read, the reader is able to gleam what a horrific life she lived, full of violence and evil. We are also introduced to the men in her life= the twins, Ryker and Max who both love her, but she only falls in love with one of the twins and then there is the villain of this series, Kain, who wants to make her to pay for something that wasn’t even her fault. This is a dark, intense, stormy, brutal, mysterious and dangerous read. I couldn’t believe how the prequel ended. This is a must read before you read the start to the Gilded Cage series. I loved every moment in this book , very much recommend reading and can’t wait to read Ms. Bailey’s latest.
My Rating: 4.7 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
nie jestem pewna czy to bedzie ksiazka /seria dla mnie. czy budzi emocje? budzi. czy mi sie one podobaja? te emocje? wcale. nie lubie sie wnerwiac przez duze "w" i tyle.
“Princess” Ophelia Sokolov has been groomed all her life as the eldest daughter of the top-tier Bratva, knowing she will marry Max Marino once she turns nineteen to unite the two prominent mafia families as her primary duty. However, that is not to be the outcome…at least, not immediately.
Fawn Bailey offers a prequel in FEATHER which has every interesting element going for it, and I cannot wait to find out what happens in the next installments!
This is looking like the set up to a seriously twisted revenge story. It starts out almost sweet with five-year-old Ophelia falling in love with Ryker when she first lays eyes on him. Only to learn that she’s now betrothed to his brother Max. As you can imagine, this is the set-up for a lot of angst. But it’s nothing compared to the events of her eighteenth birthday. There’s just enough in this little prequel to whet the appetite. I can’t wait to read the rest of the story. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
This 43 page prequel (free) is intense, I mean intensely insane O.O...the ending or rather the beginning had me at I must read this, not out till June :(, but I was reading that we met Ophelia in her Rose and Thorn series, I will look into that since they are all out. But Kain gives me the shivers and I fear for our Ophelia :))
This book will rock your world. Feather by Fawn Bailey is the prequel to the Gilded Cage series and will give you the start to this series. Ophelia is the Russian princess used to have everything she wants. When she's 5 years old she meets the Marino brothers and is instantly attracted to Ryker. She formed a bond with both brothers until the day her father told her she was meant to marry Max. On her eighteen birthday party her life changed drastically... And I can't say more. You need to grab this and get ready for this series that will rock you would forever. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Amazing introduction to a new dark romance series. This series started with a bang. It is intense and will definitely have you on the edge of your seat. I cannot wait to start the books and I will definitely recommend
That was supposed to be just a little easy read in between heavier stories I’m reading 🙄. My bad. Guess I should have read the synopsis cuz damn that was not light and fluffy. Now I feel like I need to keep reading to see what happens to Ophelia.
Wow. This prequel is amazing. Can’t wait to read the Gilded Cage series to find out what happens next. Fawn Bailey done a phenomenal job in pulling me into this book.
A dark and gripping prequel to a new mafia series....this book is all about introductions, beginnings...and endings
Seen mostly through the eyes of Ophelia, the world in which these characters exist is an opulent facade where power and influence is determined by the last, brutal and violent men standing..
Revenge is most definitely not sweet..... and the ending is undoubtedly just the start; I can not wait to begin...I received an advanced copy of this novella from the author...
I really should remove all mafia related books from my library; they make me fucking ANGRY. The acceptance of crime and shitty behaviour is part of it, but mainly it's the RAMPANT MISOGYNY. Men hating women. Women hating women. Women being used for nothing but their bodies. Does "Mamochka" do anything other than pop out babies? Lots of uses of the words "slut" and "whore". I thought the heroine would have a personality beyond "mafia Princess"; she doesn't. She has her father punish the entire family of a woman who dared to have sex with a guy she likes and enjoys it. She ignores the handsome, kind man who loves her in favour of his so much sexier brother... except that they're identical twins! What is wrong with you, woman?! I hated her and Ryker so much that I was quite relieved when he was and she was brought down to earth with a bump.
Bailey, if you're going to keep writing, then I suggest you work on your grammar - in particular conjugation, sentence structure and apostrophes - but if this is the kind of tripe you always produce, I beg you, throw in the towel.
3 1/2 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ I absolutely HATE love triangles and amnesia in a book and I knew I wouldn’t like the triangle in this one especially with them being twins. But I like Isabella Starling, I like dark books, and I love Mafia men so I figured I’d step outside my box. The book was well written and very interesting but I friggin’ hated Ophelia so I didn’t care what happened to her. She was a spoiled, entitled immature twatwaffle who I seriously wanted to cunt-punch. Please note the rating is because of my intense hatred for the h not because I knowingly read something I hate and then wanted to bitch about it. I’m actually glad to have had this short prequel because I know now after reading this I will not continue with the series.
Great introduction to a new dark romance series. Ophelia is a happy, well-loved (even slightly spoiled) daughter. She loves her family, especially her mother and younger sisters and quickly befriends twins, Max and Ryker. She’s immediately drawn to them, but what she feels for Ryker is different, stronger—tingly. Unfortunately, Ophelia isn't just a happy daughter, sister, and friend. She's the daughter of a Russian mob boss who has made a lot of enemies and hurt too many people. Now, she's going to pay for her father's sins.
She loses everything when her world comes crashing down on her 18th birthday. It's traumatic and violent.
This prequel makes me want to read the series. It shows you pieces of who the characters are--Ophelia, Max, Ryker even a glimpse of the bad guy Kain. Kain does some horrible things that day and is probably going to do even worse, especially to Ophelia, but there's more to him than brutality and vengeance. I can’t wait to see more of what is driving Kain. If you’ve read the author’s Rose and Thorn series, then you’ve seen Ophelia before and know how her story ends. I guess this is how she gets her dark HEA.
In this prequel we are introduced to Ophelia Sokolov; she is the daughter of the king of the Russian Mafia, which is why she is often referred to as Princess Ophelia. She is used to getting what she wants & when she wants - so when she meets the Marino twins & falls in love with one of the brothers, she has high hopes for their future. However, their dad’s have different plans. She has been betrothed to the other brother & they are to marry once they come of age. But everything goes horribly wrong on the celebration of her 18th birthday.
I loved the last series of books that Fawn Bailey released so I was so eager to read Ophelia’s story. We caught a glimpse of her in the Rose & Thorn series but she was such a mystery that readers were just waiting for the author to expand on her. This prequel gives just a hint into her life before and the events leading up to Wings; just enough of a hint that it will hook you in and you will be anxious to know what happens after Feather.
**4.5 Stars - I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.
Wow! What a fantastic start to a new series this prequel is! It is a short taste of what's to come, just enough to get you hooked and wanting more. At least that's what it did for me. I have a feeling it is going to be a long month waiting to find out where Ophelia's story goes next.
We first met Ophelia in the Rose and Thorn series. She was a mystery right up to the very end of those books. This prequel takes us back before then and spans the time period of Ophelia's life from age five to eighteen. In a few short chapters we are introduced to a life of violence and evil. The things Ophelia experiences are unimaginable, and this is just the beginning for her.
This is a short introduction to Ophelia's life and takes about a half hour to read. Although short, this intro holds a wealth of promise. I can't wait for book one! *I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*
I volunteered to read an Advanced Reader Copy of Feather and to submit an honest review.
This prequel is the most intriguing and fascinating one that I have ever read. Ophelia is introduced at the age of 5. Her father nicknamed her Princess Ophelia and she definitely takes the Princess to heart. Her Father is Russian Mafia and is both feared and revered.
Ophelia meets the Marino twin bothers at a function at her family home. During the function, her father brings her up on stage and announces that Ophelia is engaged to Max Marino. Her father's word was law and she would be in arranged marriage; the ceremony to take place once she turned 19.
Ophelia's 18th birthday party did not end well at all. I personally cannot wait to read what happens in this collection. I recommend reading Feather; the collection is going to be awesome.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This series is going to be like no other. The storyline is so intense dark and dangerously haunting . A five year little girl named Ophelia has been arranged a a gift to join to mafia families together by her father to the Marino family to Max who has a twin brother named Ryker on her 19th birthday party. A massacre a blood shed where nothing and no one lives except for Max Tyler and Ophelia. Kain who gives her the option pick one twin to survive, she chooses Ryker. Ryker is stabbed in the stomach and left for dead Max is drugged and thrown into the back of a van and driven away. Kain had kidnapped and driven to a unknown place and told her she now belongs to him. Kain promises a lifetime of pain and punishment as revenge for her families actions. A guilded cage for his now naked soon to be broken little bird. This is going to set the book world on its edge. Highly recommended read.
