Teenage twins Malcolm and Valentine Gilbert have defeated doomsday machines, ice monsters, and time-traveling supervillains. Yet their full potential remains out of reach. The Chrona is elusive, and without her guidance they struggle to grow in their abilities and to choose the course of their lives.
When an enemy invades from the future, he brands the twins as war criminals. Amidst a war between ages, the twins must uncover the real truth about themselves, their accuser, and the secrets that brought him to their town. At all costs, they must unlock their true power before the enemy breaks the timeline completely. If they fail, it could mean the end of Time itself.
This book was action-packed, much more than the first two books! I was hooked on every sentence, and it was better than I expected! The Genesis Flame is high tension, full of intense scenes. This is the final battle, the fate of the past, the future, and the present all in the hands of a few teenagers. I am extremely attached to the characters. As a result, I was not at all happy with some of the sacrifices they made to protect the ones they loved. It ended the series nicely, and did not leave me wanting more. I liked how it answered some questions and also left many things up to the reader to decide. The epilogue was amazing! To read my full review, see http://pagesforthoughts.blogspot.com/...
Good for fans of Lorien Legacies and Reckoners. I didn't read books 1 & 2 so was a little lost in the time-travel. Definitely defies credulity, but is a good choice for middle school/younger teens w/clean language, very light romance, fast-paced adventure.
Usually by the last book in a trilogy there's not many surprises left, but The Genesis Flame is exciting and keeps you on the edge of your seat right to the end. Even though I hated to see this story end, I loved the ending. Awesome story!
