Tialanna is fated to become the queen of all Underlayes witches. She thinks the worst part of her life is the fact that she’s betrothed to a complete stranger while in love with someone else. She’s in for a rude awakening when she discovers who, and what, she truly is.
Tialanna is about to learn the truth behind several lies, because not only does her life depend on it, but so does the fate of the family she never even knew she had. But hey, life would probably just be boring if she didn't have to deal with elemental witches, vampires, demons, sorcerers, bindings, spells, lust and betrayal. Right?
***This book is intended for mature audiences only as it includes both graphic violence and graphic sex***
T. A. resides in Detroit, Michigan with her five children, and the rest of her dysfunctional family, where she was born and raised. She started her writing career in the midst of a very hard time in her life and is now a best-selling author. Her debut and award-winning novel, Witch Wars, and the world of Underlayes, was born from a mind that desperately needed an escape, so she created one.
The novel was inspired by her love of all things paranormal and how she wanted it seen. “We live in a diverse world, shouldn’t all of the characters in books, even paranormal also be diverse,” she says. “I saw so few paranormal books with a diverse cast until I read L. A. Banks. You know, with more than one or two diverse characters thrown in for good measure. Mine have it all, too.”
A mother of five beautiful children, but by far more than just that. T. A. Moorman is an artist, a violinist, a seamstress, a crafter, a writer, a blogger, a reviewer, a dark confidant and a darkly dangerous, fiercely protective friend.
ARC provided by the author and publisher through the FLOAB book club :))
not bad! this has some plot holes here and there, but all up it was pretty entertaining and had some good smut. the writing was a bit dodgy occaisonally, and in my opinion the MC made some stupid decisions, but ah well, everyone does. i did get slightly annoyed with the drug situation though, i understand that it just 'let her do what she wanted to do without the worry of society's opinion', but any drug that changes what someone would usually do, and ends in sex, counts as drug rape in my opinion. however i did love the casual approach to LGBTQ+ stuff! this book was set in a society where sexuality and gender didn't matter, and that was really refreshing.
overall this was good fun! the book was short and sweet and kept my attention for a while, i'm glad i read it and i'll probably finish the series one day! thanks for the ARC :))
.. this was a amazing read! This story had me going from the first page! Tia is a fire witch from a powerful family who is betrothed to Bran a powerful wizard. This story had me all over the place from Grimm the wearwolf who loves Tia to Bran and then a new love interest a vampire she finds out secrets that will rock her world ..family betrayal new friends . Some hot sex..I don't know how to give a good review without giving up spoilers!! Wow Ta Moorman does weave a mighty good tale. I loved it erotic fantasy and paranormal put together.
In Witch Wars we are introduced to Tialana, princess of the witch faction. Raised to put her people first and trained to hate vampires her world is tilted on it's head when she finds out she was betrayed by the people she thought were her parents. Noble by birth, she was raised to put her people first but after uncovering the betrayal she learns her world is a lot bigger than she ever realized. As the future Queen of the Witches there's always someone out to obtain that power, when she is once again betrayed who is there left she can trust? Torn between duty and her own heart, Tialana's life is on the line as a prophecy unfolds. More than a love story, more than just a paranormal story, Witch Wars is an intoxicating blend of love, sex, action, and blood. I was drawn into the story immediately and still found myself shocked by some plot twists. If you like action, fighting, and various paranormal creatures then Witch Wars is the book for you!
An ARC was thrown my way and I read this book, and the following is my own thoughts of the story.
This is the start of an addictive, magical new series, from a talented author who has created a Realm that is only privy to others; witches, vampires, and werewolves to name a few. The story, itself, is full of surprises, keeping you on your toes. I never knew what was coming, I was fascinated by the Realm, with it's two moons, that let shifters shift at will & with a sun that won't burn up vampires. Of course, there's witches, and it's oh, so magical. You're taken on a journey of self discovery, a princess, who discovers she's more than what she knew along with realizing her destiny and all that entails. And just for good measurement, there's a hot and sexy love triangle that our princess is smack-dab in the middle of. However, I'm thinking she's allowed to that, since... Well, I'm not going to spoil it!! These characters are solid, relatable. You feel with them, some you feel for, and none at all for some. The main character never waivers in what she believes in, she stays true to herself, throughout the story. The ending wrapped up well, you know there'll be more and you will, indeed, want more. So for me, it was an intriguing, unique, sexy paranormal read, one I refused to put down, and am anxiously awaiting the next book. Five Fangtastic stars from this reader.
A fantastic book that will rock the paranormal world! Love, love, loved it! As soon as I started reading, I was quickly immersed in the pages. Tialanna is a kick-ass heroine who has no clue about the true powers she possesses. Chandler is one smokin' hot vampire who can bite me any day. There's a battle coming from unknown threats that they must be ready for.
This has it all, from the mind-blowing sex to the supernatural creatures. The secondary characters play a big role in the overall plot which gives it that special touch. I'm looking forward to exploring more of this realm. Grab an ice-cold drink and your favorite chair, and give in to your desire to read this. Go ahead! You know you want to.
Wow, just wow! This book is just as good as cotton candy, and I say that for many reasons!
Magic, mayhem, action, vampires, witches, and so much more came together in this steamy paranormal and fantasy book. One could not hope for anymore than what this book has to offer.
This book was addictive, and hard to put down. I have been up all night with this book, because I could not, well I could, but I didn't put the book down because it was to exciting not to finish in one sitting. If I would have tried to put this book down I can guarantee that I would have the jittery feeling urging me to finish the book which would result in me picking up the book anyways, just to devour the amazing world it had to offer. As I continued on reading I realized that this book earned way more than 5 stars.
I read this book when it was previously published, and I have read it again now that it has been published again. I don't usually judge a book by the edits because I know that nobody is perfect, but this book has drastic improvements in the edits making the book even more impeccable and binge worthy.
I really loved everything about this book. Great character building and world building to the point that the book blurs into my own reality. In other words, it was so real that I didn't even think about what was going on in real life. I was too busy living another life; a life that was exciting, sexy, and dangerous all in one. The magic in this book felt so real, and complex that I could feel myself becoming one with it. Do you know how cool that is to just actually feel the magic that the other character has coursing through you? I will tell you it is like adrenaline mixed with passion, heat, and the scent of cotton candy. I actually lived in the characters shoes, and became the character which made me come to love the story even more than I would ever expect to love a book. This is by far one of my favorite books. To have this happen with a book is a very exhilarating, and beautiful experience.
Some say the euphoria of what a book creates in one's mind or life is what makes book lovers so much more open minded, or happier than others due to the fact that they let themselves live as many lives as possible. I can believe it! Why? Despite what people may think some books can do this for you, there are books that can make it seem like they are altering your opinion on what the world could be. For example when you get a character that is positive and doesn't give up in encourages you to do the same, and if you get a character that works magic that you end up loving it shows you that it is okay to enjoy a little fantasy in life once in awhile even if it is only in the form of a book.
Do to how good this book is I will be waiting for book two, and when it comes I look forward to devouring it. Not many books can give me this sense of happiness and euphoria but when they do I always crave more.
I recommend this book to Adults due to some steamy romance.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader's copy of the book.
T.A.Moorman has done a amazing job in building a solid world! You will feel a part of the realness. The writing definitely is talent, you are pulled in from the start to the characters and world created. The characters feel real they have flaws and personalities that draw you to them. Tialana is fated to become the queen, she has been raised to put her people first but after uncovering the betrayal she learns her world is a lot bigger than she ever realized. Tialana feel like a real person, someone you want to know! She has strengths and weaknesses, she makes mistakes like anyone else and over comes, she has real depth and dimension, all the cast does. I hate spoiler reviews!! so I do one!!! Pick up this book it has absolutely everything you could want!!! Witch Wars has action, fighting, love, sex and a full cast of fleshed out paranormal creatures. Well worth the read!!!!!
This is the first I have read from T.A. Mormon. I was not disappointed. It had everything I look for in a book. The romance was off the charts. The twists and turns had me guessing. The only bad thing is that it ended way to soon, I was not ready to leave the world that hooked me in. I love the chemistry between characters. The flow was awesome. I'm dying for more to come, as this was a perfect setup. I just don't know who I rooted for more Chandler or Demon Bran, but there was plenty of love to go around. I did want more backstory on Anya and her love. Awesome start to a series, great characters. A solid paranormal for the adult reader.
What can you say about a world apart from ours filled to the brim vampires, witches, and the like oh I know awesome read. I loved this book from beginning to end I literally finished this book in a matter of hours it was that great. Tialanna was an amazing leading lady at first I didn't know how I felt about her but by chapter 6 I was so loving her and her badassness. This book took family dysfunction to a whole different level and I loved it, I cannot even imagine whats in store for the next book but if its anything like this one I'll be in for another all-nighter yay happy dance.
My five star review of: Witch Wars (The Underlays Book1) Written by T.A.Moorman Tialanna is the main character in this this story about Witchcraft, demons and fae folk and she’s a witch destined to rule the magical world behind the veil that all mundane humans toil away and not know about. Being a princess and a witch with considerable power her family wish for an arranged marriage into a suitable and powerful family. This arrangement is what leads Tialanna to become rebellious and causes her to explore her forbidden love interest whom is a powerful werewolf and so this story begins. Lies, misdeeds and plays for power all take a role in how Tialanna is forced to learn a great deal about her family that she never would have imagined. A whole world of magical characters that are filled with remarkable depth, description and awesome dialogue sets the stage that I was swept away by. Tialanna is young, healthy, rebellious woman who is sexy and strong. The main character is filled with all the many emotions only the young can have. The sex is rich in description, vibrant and passionate and numerous times I was often impressed by the imagery portrayed in the descriptive scenes the author told so vibrantly. The action scenes very intense, violent and impressively written in this whirlwind of a story. The description of the different fae folk was what I found truly enjoyable with the demons, vampires, witches and shapeshifters. What really swept me away was the passion and zeal by the main character coupled with the constant need to learn more about her history and the role her family played in hiding so much about her is what I just couldn’t get enough of. This story shows a gorgeous cover that matches the story from beginning to end.
Prepare to be swept away by a perfect adventure fantasy for anyone with a big imagination. Witch Wars is full of adventure, remarkable characters, dangerous quests, and of course love. One thing I look for in books is original, unpredictable storytelling because I like a book that pulls me in from the first page and doesn't let me go.Witch Wars is a beautifully written book with perfectly crafted sentences that flow without conscious thought. From the very first chapter I was swept into Tialanna 's story. Tialanna, a powerful witch destined to become the queen of all Underlayes witches. To me, she felt like a real person with both strengths and weaknesses. There were times when I admired her guts and determination, as well as times when she made mistakes which added to her vulnerability and ultimately gave her real dimension. The writing is beautiful, T.A. Moorman definitely has a talent for crafting words to draw the reader into the mysterious world she creates. Her characters have personalities and flaws, and I loved watching Tialana character grow.
As I keep my reviews SPOILER FREE that’s all I reveal. Read it, you will not be disappointed.
Witch Wars is book in the Underlayes Series. Underlayes is a dimensions where the things that go bump in the night live. There are witches, vamps, shifters, fae, werewolves, etc. These creatures were scared for their lives and worked together in order to create this dimension and escape from humans. Living in this world is Tialanna who is a very powerful witch who is set up to be Queen. She is unhappy because she is set up for a marriage of convenience but loves someone else. Then her world starts to fall apart as she realizes that there are many things she does not know and they will be able to ruin her life and the lives of those she loves.
The characters are interesting and funny and I love the fact that the paranormals have their own world. Tia had me laughing so much. There were editing errors that do draw you away from the story at parts. There are plot twists that will throw off your thoughts about what is going to happen. There is a lot of action, love, graphic scenes, and this does end on a cliffhanger.
The cover is great. The story is unputdownable! Tia is a witch with a sister and both parents. This all takes place in another dimension called Underlayes. She was betrothed to some wussy witch before she was ever born. There is also Grimm who is Tia's bff, sparing partner and the lover who she'd rather be with. The wussy witch, Bran takes her on a first date to a place she actually wanted to see, a sort of paranormal carnival. This is where all hell breaks loose. Tia's life changes forever. Witches, vampires, demons and werewolves...oh my! Well written. Interesting from start to finish. I'm ready for book 2. Are you?
Blurb : Tialanna is fated to become the queen of all Underlayes witches. She thinks the worst part of her life is the fact that she’s betrothed to a complete stranger while in love with someone else. She’s in for a rude awakening when she discovers who, and what, she truly is.

About: This book is only for mature audience.
The blurb was much appealing which made me to choose to review this book. The dedication part made me chuckle and affirm its so true in many people’s lives!
Some of the elements had a slight tint of Vampire Diaries but later on seemed to evolve in an awesome mission-oriented, purpose-of-life finding plot.
I love werewolves but I like Vampire Diaries more than Twilight Series but this book was an addictive read mainly because the story was evolving throughout.
Loved the sexy description of Grimm, the Werewolf.
Loved Tia’s description – “The only time I ever felt whole was when I was with him”- it was so human-like.
The description of battle in the Book of Knowing is described in an absolute wonderful way.
Loved the phrases/sentences: Father says to Tia - Now I need you to come to terms with who and what you are Let bygones be bygones Demon Bran- His sinister laughter was signature him Tia – It made me sad to hear the fear of rejection in hs voice, his real voice.
Loved the union of the family .
The realization of one’s purpose is life I feel is more knowledgeable than any amount of education because I feel that’s the real thing which changes our life in a particular direction, may be even re-routing our life towards it and the way the sisters find their purpose in life is simply fantastic.
I am sure the next series would be coming up soon and keep the readers addicted to your book till then!
My rating is Narration:5/5 Story plot:5/5 Cover:5/5
This is the first story I have ever read by T. A. Moorman and I was Bewitched!
Here is a Tantalizing Tid-bit to Savor:
“A wicked grin began spreading across my lips. “This, I can do.” When Bran arrived, I had on a pair of tight red leather pants, slits on both legs coming up to my knees. Red, knee-high combat boots with small diamond skulls going up the sides, with a five-inch steel stiletto heel. A sheer, white, long-sleeved blouse, with a V-neck all the way down to my waist band, over a red sequined halter to seal the deal. Borderline sleazy, yet very sexy. “Are you ready?” he asked, still looking nervous, like some human boy in high school going on his first date. Don’t get me wrong, he did look very nice, in a black linen suit with a blue silk dress shirt and a black neck-tie to seal the deal. But he just looked so damn straight and narrow. No excitement. Just. Plain. Boring. “As ready as I’ll ever be.” I managed to say while wishing I were anywhere but there.”
T.A. Moorman. Witch Wars: The Underlayes, Book One (Kindle Locations 305-313). After Glows Publishing.
The pace was fluid, the plot spellbinding; there is paranormal graphic violence, graphic sex, suspense, action, adventure with many well-developed characters.
However, Beautiful Bibliophile, I never reveal spoilers, as I possess too much respect for you to ever spoil a story!
I am an independent ARC reader reviewer blogger and I originally received this novel free from the publisher and I chose to voluntarily review it.

I loved this book so much! I am a Paranormal head and had been wanting to read this book for some time now. In this book you have everything you could want, Vampires, Werewolves, Fae, witches... everything Can you imagine being forced to marry someone because your parents think it will be a good union... yea.. that is what Tialana is facing. Of course she isn't having it! The same people that she thought that she could trust are the same people that betray her and she has to learn that not everything is what it seems. I felt so bad for Tialana since she had to find out all of her history on her own. I would recommend this book to 18 and older, the love scenes off the charts. I closed my eyes (then promptly reopened them) at some of the descriptions. I was really transported into this book with the writing style and characters! Can't wait to read the next one!
This book was an amazing mix of magic, witches, vamps, shifters, power, and hidden lies. It has me hooked from the get go! Can't wait to see what book 2 brings.
Tialanna had no idea her life was about to change. Being forced to be with one man when she loves another was not the only change. Going on a date with her soon to be husband only took her into a different life and meeting family she had no idea she had
Great world building and rich characters, graphic language and raw sex, intriguing mystery and damaging betrayal can all be found in Book 1 of The Underlayes: Witch Wars, a new series from talented author T.A. Moorman. The paranormal species have all separated into different realms in The Underlayes and Tialanna has grown up thinking that she is a princess of the Witch realm. She’s in for a rude awakening when she is kidnapped by a demon (some readers may find the subsequent scene disturbing) and then rescued by Vampires who take her back to their realm where some startling truths are revealed. Now, Tia is left to sort all these new revelations and to prepare for the consequences. Add to the mix a hot demon, a smoking Vampire, a new family and new abilities, and you have the setup for what promises to be a very engaging and exciting series. I look forward to reading the rest and I am grateful that the author gave me a complimentary copy of this book so that I could enter the world of The Underlayes. Highly recommend this book to all who like their heroines to be strong, independent and sassy, their heroes Alpha, clever and caring and their books sexy, fast paced and action packed.
I found Witch Wars Underlayes Book One to be a dark and fun read full of surprises and twists. The author T.A. Moorman draws the reader into a nightmarish world full of diverse characters and their complex but interesting family tree. The main character faces many tough situations and by the end of the book the reader is left wanting more and more. A good way to set up a series. I look forward to more from the author and this series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a true page turner. I can't wait to get started on the next one of this series. You had to stay on your toes with this one because there were so many bad guys and a host of wonderful characters. I truly enjoyed this book from cover to cover.
Underlayes is another dimension where all sorts of nocturnal creatures reside; witches, vampires, fae, shifters, werewolves...... The dimension was created by all of these creatures working side by side to escape the scrutiny and danger to their very existence that stemmed from the human world. Humans tend to fear things they do not understand and tend to try and eliminate anything that they fear. Even though these nocturnal beings were actually humanoid themselves as well, just different, more enhanced, than their day bearing brethren... Amongst those beings lies a very powerful witch, Tialanna, who is to become the queen of all Underlayes witches. Thinking the worst part of her life was the fact that she was betrothed to a complete stranger while in love with someone else. She is in for a rude awakening when she discovers the truth of who, and what, she truly is. Tialanna is about to learn the truth behind several lies, because not only does her life depend on it, but so does the fate of the family she never even knew she had. But hey, life would probably just be boring if she didn't have to deal with elemental witches, vampires, demons, sorcerers, bindings, spells and whatnot, right? *** This book is intended for mature audiences only as there will be both graphic violence and graphic sex.*** More than a love story, more than just a paranormal story, Witch Wars is an intoxicating blend of love, sex, action, and blood. I was drawn into the story immediately and still found myself shocked by some plot twists. The paranormal world is fascinating and the witches, demonds , vampires and werewolf's made it even better for me! The writing is beautiful, T.A. Moorman definitely has a talent for creating words to draw the reader into the mysterious world she creates. Her characters have personalities and flaws, and I loved watching Tialana character grow. The story does end on a cliffhanger, but that just builds the anticipation for the next book in this amazing series!
Our heroine, Tialana, is a witch and soon to be leader of the witches coven.
She's sassy, sarcastic, and strong. She moves with attitude and grace.
Tialana loves with her whole heart and has enough for more than one man, wolf, or demon.
She is also the one fated to save the world.
When life as Tialana knows it, changes abruptly we go on an adventure with her as she negotiates her way through the hurdles.
This book is really good and could easily have been a five star read. The heroine is great, likable. The supporting characters are great. Witch Wars is the perfect blend between adventure, suspense, and comedy with just the right touch of sexy.
My only complaint is that it needs a really good edit. There are words mixed up i.e. men and mean, the and this. It wouldn't have been an issue if it wasn't throughout the whole book. It actually took away from the overall story.
I look forward to reading more from this author as she knows how to create some pretty fantastic characters.
Witch Wars grabbed me from the very beginning and left me wanting more in the end. It’s original, dark, sexy, and full of off handed humor. Although, I found some positive and negative things about the book, I cannot wait for the second book. Now for the honest review…. The bad: As many have mentioned, there needs to be better editing. I can overlook some grammar and editing issues if it doesn’t detract from the overall meaning and content. However, a good editor would have made this an excellent read. The good: From the very beginning, I found the premise of an alternate dimension for the otherworldly (underlays) a fascinating one. Each have their own king, works with one another, and basically living peacefully is a great setup for the unexpected problem that arose. Tialanna’s journey learning about her true heritage and how it will affect, not only her family but the fate of the witches has more twist and turns than a road through the mountains. Let’s just say I would have went postal from all the revelations. The addition of some imaginative sexual interludes, colorful characters, and an unexpected ending kept me thoroughly entertained. Witch Wars is a fantastic beginning for what looks to be an excellent story.
This was a great start to what should be a fun series to read. The author did a good job creating her world and setting it up so the reader could visualize being a part of it. The dialog between the characters is realistic and serves to move the story along. I especially liked the conversations between the parents. (I've heard conversations like that in real life.) There are some awesome fight scenes. The author took the time to create a whole scene and I even found myself fighting along with the characters. There was a lot going on in this story and I'm sure the rest of the series will answer all my questions. (I hope the panther comes back!)
The blurb about this book drew me in. I love everything witch, vampire, werewolf and demon alike. The storyline was great. I fell in love with the characters. ..Yes, even the demon. There is plenty of mystery, intrigue and magic to keep me engaged in the story, wondering what was going to happen next. Unfortunately, this book needs editing. There are many instances of dropped words, misspellings or wrong sentence structure. If edited, this story would be unstoppable.
Hands down favorite read of 2016! Vampires, Demon, and all my favorite supernatural creatures thrown into one book. Couldn't put the book down and it ends on a cliffhanger but I'm so looking forward to next installment of the Underlayes series
I was browsing Booksprout when I came across this book. I love a good urban fantasy with its blend of magic, demons and paranormal beings. I haven't read anything by this author before so wasn't quite sure what to expect, but the blurb certainly caught me interest. Overall this is an enjoyable and fast paced story, with a likeable heroine and a decent plot. Whilst my review even to me seems negative, please remember I think this is a good story and would recommend it.
Tialanna is not only a witch but is destined to be Queen of the Underlayes witches. Added to that is a prophecy that states she will unite the Underlayes world by joining forces with a powerful warrior. This means, despite being in love with Grimm, she's been betrothed to another witch since before she was born. Things start to get really strange when she meets her betrothed for the first time.
Whilst I did like Tialanna she did feel more like a new adult rather than someone nearing 31. I'm not sure if their extended life span means they take longer to reach adulthood so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt. I did really like her, she was complex and written with a nice touch of humour. I was a little confused as to who the real hero was, this is sort of a reverse harem and whilst I did feel the lust and chemistry between the characters, I didn't really feel as though there was any romance or love involved.
The author had some amazing idea's but with the shear amount of characters, events and intrigue involved, sometimes it felt rushed and underdeveloped. Other parts were really well executed, which shows that the author has talent, this just needed more fleshing out at times. There were a couple of times, AND ONLY A COUPLE, when the story felt very disjointed. It was as if, as the author wrote, she changed her mind about where the story was heading but forgot to tie in the threads that had already been woven. Why was Chrissy in the story? What happened to Grimm?
I think this would have been much better spread out across at least two books, with much more time and depth given to each part of the story. An example would be the battle at Bran's castle, which is very rushed and unexplained. Some attempt was made at explaining this, but it just wasn't very clear. The world building was very good, and the characters had depth, it was just as soon as you met one, they disappeared from the story and you met another.
I am invested in this story enough to read future books, I found the author's writing style easy to read and the book was engaging.
This book! OMG! I have no words! Just prepare yourself for the awesomeness that is this book! Prepare to meet Tialanna is fated to become the queen of the all the Underlayes witches. She is also betrothed to a man that she doesn't even know due to a prophecy that was foretold. She's in love with someone else but knows that it can never because things were set in motion before she was even born. What she doesn't know is that her world is about to get a major shake-up, and she's going to learn that quite a bit of her life...isn't at all what she has been lead to believe. Witch Wars is the first book that I have read by T.A. Morrman and this book is FANTASTIC! The author engages my interest from the beginning and doesn't let go all the way through. The characters are amazing and layered in such amazing ways. You will want to despise certain ones, only to learn that there is more to the story. It's so cool! I couldn't get enough. The bit of backstory that the author gives us in the beginning truly sets the stage beautifully for this story. This ensured that I would want to keep reading without a shadow of a doubt. Tialanna is such an amazing character, I can't get enough of her. There honestly isn't anything that I don't like about this book. It's an amazing story and I simply want more! The characters are well done, there are surprises, twists and so much more! You will honestly eat this book up and come back begging for more. I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. This is one of the best paranormal novels that I have read this year. We get a variety of characters, backgrounds, twists, surprises and steamy situations. If you don't like good hot situations, don't read this book. The author warns you more than once before and after picking this book up, so if you get it...don't complain. They add to the story and are not just thrown in there for kicks. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I'm really hoping for lots more to come!
