Moments after an explosion rocks the sisters of Black Rose Investigations, Private Investigator Roxy Knight discovers two human skeletons buried in a secret tunnel under their stone mansion. Although rumor has it that the previous homeowners—a genius doctor and his wife—simply disappeared one day, the crack in his skull says otherwise. Is it possible they were murdered? More importantly, what were they hiding?

Fire Chief Weston Cage begins to believe he got more than he bargained for at his new job when he meets the emotionally icy but sizzling hot Roxy Knight, who seems to have the weight of the world on her shoulders—and two corpses under her house. As the clues to the mysterious skeletons lead them to a grisly murder, Weston fears that Roxy has taken on more than she can handle, and is getting too close to the killer.

Although their chemistry is undeniable, Roxy has more important things to worry about, like solving the skeleton mystery and finding Krestel, the witch of the Great Shadow Mountains who tried to kill her sisters. And Roxy will stop at nothing to keep her family safe… even though her current case might put her six feet under.

In Tomb’s Tale, Roxy, the oldest sister and one of the co-owners of Black Rose PI agency is fuming after she, her sisters and some of their team are nearly killed by an explosion that occurred at their headquarters – and she’s determined that the witch who did it will pay, and when I say witch I do not mean figuratively. Roxy may not be the most lovable character but she was incredibly protective of those she cares about and I did like her go-to attitude.

Weston Cage is the new Fire Chief for Devil’s Den, and when Roxy starts talking about witches well imagine his eyebrows shooting up in bafflement. When he finds himself working with Roxy to investigate the remains found in the secret tunnel underneath her place of business, it wasn’t just the mystery that keeps him intrigued. There was definitely a connection between Roxy and Weston which made for a fun mystery with a side of romance. Roxy is somewhat surly in some of their early interactions, but Weston is in no way put off.

I found myself engaged with this book/novella from the get go, it was well paced and overall an entertaining light little morsel. I do wish it was a full-length book though, and that there had been more dimension when it came to the romance component of the tale, and the interactions between Weston and Roxy.

Be warned this third novella/book

Book 3 of a 5 novella suspense romance series. (Very early books by this fabulous author.) The main characters own Black Rose investigations, which is in a small town. There's a creepy forest nearby and an apparent 'witch', targeting people throughout the books, so read them in order if possible.

After a mysterious explosion at the house, an underground tunnel is discovered. Down below lie two skeletons, so the investigation begins. There's some action, mystery, murder and a hunky fireman to the rescue. There's instant attraction between our H/h, although the romance is slow burn. There are a couple of spicy romance scenes, although this book is all about the back story. I enjoyed it. 3.5 stars.

I don't particularly like Amanda McKinney's occasionally over the top writing style but the books are pretty short and I'm an optimist, there's always the chance that she will tone it down. That ain't happened so far and "Tomb's Tale" is no exception.
This time out the romantic focus is on Roxie:- "Roxy’s reputation preceded her, along with the rumors of her beauty. She wasn’t the girl-next-door beautiful. No, Roxy was an exotic beauty. Timeless. Exquisite. The type of beauty that made him want to throw her over his shoulder and show her a thing or two about getting dirty."
The previous book "Hatchet's Hollow" ended on a bang - an explosion and fire destroyed the Black Rose Investigations premises. "Tomb's Tale" starts within a few seconds of the explosion - the smoke from the fire forming the letter "K" in the air - clear evidence of the witch of the Great Shadow Mountains, Kestrel (aka Marden Balik), who has been a central character in the series without actually appearing very often.
Returning to the scene later that night Roxie bumps into Fire Chief Weston Cage, discovers a hidden tunnel in the wreckage and, OMG, "the corpses of two human skeletons." She what?
There follows the usual mutual Instalove and a fairly unbelievable mystery which, of course, gets solved with a minimum of effort. And, of course, the usual dramatic lead in to the next episode.

Tomb's Tale brings Roxy - the eldest sister and CEO of Black Rose Investigations - into the forefront. She is a doer that rarely takes time for herself. Her main priorities are her sisters and the company their parents worked so hard to build. All of that begins to change when she meets Fire Chief, Weston Cage of the Devil's Den FD.
After nearly being blown to bits, Roxy and Weston are put into close proximity to each other in a Tomb they discover underneath the kitchen at the BR headquarters. Skeletons, Africa, and Krestel all come into play during the web of information that is discovered and has both Roxy and Weston rushing to bring the answers to the surface.
I loved everything about this book by Amanda McKinney. She develops the characters so well within a short time frame. Once I start reading her books, I have a hard time putting them down!

Another grand slam for Amanda McKinney! Tomb's Tale is a fantastic romantic suspense populated with a phenomenal lineup of characters. Roxy is the oldest of the Knight sisters and is protective of her sisters and the coworkers that make up her family. Weston is the fire chief of the local fire department. When the kitchen of their old family home, now headquarters blows up and catches fire Weston and Roxy meet. Their story is packed with drama, sizzle, humor, action and suspense. I loved every page of this book and can't wait for my next read from Amanda McKinney. Tomb's Tale is book 3 of the Black Rose Mystery Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

'I'm not asking. I'm telling'

A hot, sexy firechief demands you let him take control of your pleasure.....swoon....no one with sense will say no!
Weston is exactly what Roxy needs, what all of us need! Sweet, funny, supportive, smart but also fully capable of taking charge when needed...or wanted. He warms you heart with lines like 'Nothing brings me to my knees faster than a woman who knows her cheesy eighties movies' but slips in and steals it completely with the bath...snap him up quick Roxy!
This is book three in the series and whilst each book centres around a different couple, there are plot lines and investigations that continue across the series, so you do need to read all the books in order for them to make sense, however the whole series is available on Kindle Unlimited.

Roxy and Weston

Tomb's Tale is book three in McKinney's BRM series. This is oldest sister Roxy Knight's story. She is the protector, the oldest, the strongest and looks after everyone but herself. When a fire happens at the PI office Chief Weston Cage will be on site to help figure out what caused the fire. Weston and Roxy will have instant chemistry and their banter is foreplay. With a mysterious K left in the air after the fire and two skeletons found in a secret tunnel below the office things are going to get very interesting for Roxy. She will have a sexy six foot three fireman to help her with everything. I enjoyed this story, favorite of the series for me. Happy Reading!!

Sooo Good!!

This is another wonderfully written mystery by Amanda McKinney. This series has been excellent and it's just getting better and better as Amanda introduces us to the cast of characters in Devil's Den and allows us to fall in love with the ladies of Black Rose Investigations. Picking a favorite in the series would be like choosing your favorite child...but I will say that Tomb's Tale caught me completely off guard. That, to me, is the sign of an excellent mystery writer...who can also make you break out in a full sweat with her steamy love scenes. If you haven't yet, you need to start this series today!

5 Stars!

I’ve read all of the books in the Black Rose Mystery Series and this is my favorite so far! Starts out immediately with action and an undeniable chemistry between Roxy and the swoon-worthy fire chief, Weston Cage. Couldn’t put it down! Ms. McKinney’s books really draw you in from the first page and are so entertaining from beginning to end. I highly recommend this fast-moving, steamy romantic suspense book! Can’t wait for the next in the series!

This story seemed more like Author McKinney’s style, than the previous books in this series. The leading characters have more depth and clever dialogue. Westin is a strong sexy firefighter with a romantic side. Just what the always in control Roxy needs in a man.
Once again I am clueless on the villain. As with the other books, the ending is the start of the next installment, leaving me anxious to download it.

Very exciting!

These novellas are great reading adventures, involving the women of Black Rose Investigations. Each one has a particular woman at the center of the mystery but all the others interact! She meets her own particular hunky, sexy male during the mystery solution. They are exciting, short, mystery adventures and enjoyable reading

“I’m not asking. I’m telling.”

Oldest sister, Roxy has always taken care of everyone around her. Now that someone is trying to kill the only family she has left, she needs the help of single, sexy Weston. It’s not just the witch she has to worry about. This series just keeps going deeper. Great characters, spicy storylines. Awesome read! Enjoy!!!

More Mystery and Chills

Roxy's and Weapons story begins with the explosion in the Black Rose Investigation kitchen. They find two skeletons in a tomb under the destroyed kitchen. Who is behind the death? Who wants Roxy dead? Can she and Weston let down their walls to experience true love? Great read another you just can't put down until you are done.

Another excellent addition to the series. I love the Black Rose ladies (and guy)!

When an explosion and fire suddenly happen at the Black Rose offices an underground cave comes to light. In the cave are the bones of two people, but who are they?

The third book in the series. Good plot albeit kind of hard to follow at the end. Felt rushed but overall a good read.

Enjoyed this book!

Always a fun twist of two in this series of books. Who doesn't like a good mystery with beautiful women and get sexy men. This PI group are great together.
