This is an excellent book. The plot was complex but the writing is assured. It is extremely atmospheric. The characters have depth and backgrounds, I especially liked Daniel's back story which makes the reader uncertain of his actions. Joe Foster was also well observed and he was credible as a farmer. I have no background in farming but the mention of his handling of sheep etc was believable. I'll be putting Mark Sennen's other books on my to read list.

What a bloody good book, well done Mark Sennen. You know right at the end I really felt so sad for old Joe Foster. Like you Mark I would love to send my regards to old Joe if I met him on the moor.

Having read all the DI Savage books I was very keen to read a book by the same author. This is a standalone and not connected to the DI Savage books. This was a big disappointment. A bit long winded with totally obnoxious characters bar none. I had no sympathy with any of them. None of them had any redeeming features. Highly unbelievable and improbable plot bordering on the bizarre. Yes do read DI Savage books but I wouldn't recommend this one at all

What a gripping story.

Took a little while for me to get used to the jumping back and forth to the past and then back to the present. One bit i wasnt to keen on was I was just getting in to the story and then it went to part 2 and went back to the past to tell how they got to worlds end which kinda threw me, however despite this I love how the story had so many twist in it. Like the body not being Tobys. (When I was convinced it was)
Most of the story I thought Daniel was evil and lying but was shocked when it turned out not to be him.

This book had me hooked.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I was blown away. It grabbed me from the start and I couldn't put it down. I like to pride myself on working out the plot when reading a book but with this one you think you've sussed it and another twist appears. Great characters, great quality writing and a fabulous story. I will be reading more by Mark Sennen.

Not my usual type of read but I really enjoyed it

I downloaded the book because it was written by Mark. I love his Savage series. Not my usual type of book but I loved the way we heard from a Catherine and Foster’s points of view.

Pretty awfull

The plot is quite outrageous from chapter one until the end. The one local cop is too stupid for words and to say he main female character is gullable, is putting it mildly.

This is a excellent suspense/crime novel set in the wilds of Dartmoor. It’s a great read – really atmospheric – the moor is beautifully drawn. The suspense never lets up. Crimes of the past and present intertwine. The characters are relatable and come alive on the page. One you start reading this you won’t be able to stop. All in all a cracking good story.
