I started writing in 1990’s with small magazines and specialist publications, finally branching out into the women’s magazine market in 2001. I have since written more than 200 articles and at least 150 short stories. They’ve been in Take A Break Fiction Feast, Woman’s Weekly Fiction Special, Weekly News, My Weekly and People’s Friend. Some have been in anthologies with the proceeds going to charity. The Fantastic Bubble was repeated on BBC Radio 4 and the World Service.
My novels are set in Worthing; There’s Always Tomorrow (2011) Better Days Will Come (2012), Pack Up Your Troubles (2013), For Better For Worse (2014), are all published by HarperCollins Avon. Blue Moon (2015) & Love Walked Right In (2016) are published by Pan Macmillan. I also have a couple of novellas on Kindle. Emily’s Christmas Wish (2015) and Amy’s Wartime Christmas will be released in October 2016

Lovely to read one of pams books again a really lovely story and the Sussex girls were great if you like reading about the war on the home front you will enjoy this 5 STARS .

Three women in England are wives of POW’s during WWII. They are brought together by a bombing in their neighborhood. Two have children and the other loves children. Their lives grow more and more close, and they find out they love to sing. They form a three person group . They perform for war charities and for soldiers. The story moves through their lives. The ending ties it all together.

A thoroughly enjoyable story set during the second world war in England.
A chance accident brings together 3 women who go on to build an enduring friendship as they navigate the challenges of life during the war.
As the characters grow and develop through the book you begin to have an insight into the beginnings of women starting to realise what they can do and starting to want more than the the traditional life of a housewife. These everyday women have been expected to come out into the world and take on tasks usually handled by their men, while still being treated by pre-war societal standards. From dealing with authority figures telling them not to 'worry their pretty heads', question their judgements or ability to deal with situations to just underestimating them in general, these ladies are on the brink of a changing world.
I enjoyed reading their separate journeys through life and seeing how important the support and friendship between the 3 was for this.
I felt like there were some other stories in there waiting to be told that we never quite got a conclusion to (Maud and Marion; Ron, Betty & Iris) but perhaps their stories will be told in a future book.
I listened to the Audio version of this book. I found the narrator to be well suited to the story and easy to listen to.
Am I glad I read it - yes.
Was it a waste of my time - not at all
Would I sit down and read it all over again - yes.
Would I read more by this author based on this book - yes, just popped one on reserve at the library.

This is an interesting book. It happens that a German aircraft crashes into a house in Worthing, UK... and is has devastating consequences for all of the local communities. The year is 1942, and three women meet for the first time that day: Pip, Stella, and Lillian. Lillian's little girl, Flora, unfortunately gets hurt in the plane crash, and is delivered to the hospital. All three women have husbands serving overseas.
Pip, Stella, and Lillian find that they have something in common (besides children); music and singing. They decide that they are going to their part for the war effort....perform for others. They call themselves the "Sussex Sisters", and are a lot like our Andrews Sisters were.
As the war gets sooner to ending, the women begin to wonder if they continue the work that they do, or will they be relegated to the past: working at home and caring for the children. This was a huge problem in the United States, as well as the UK.
After D-Day comes, the world begins to change, and so have the women. Mysteries come out of the woodwork, and life is no longer the same.

This is everything you'd expect from the historical fiction/saga genre: husbands at war, wives & mothers & children pulling together to get through the long days and unexpected situations. Of course an illicit romance or a hidden secret will also pop up ...
The premise of this story was great, and I enjoyed it as a light read, I just felt that I was expecting far more of the "Sussex Sisters" and their singing than we got - if the book had been called "The Sussex Sisters" and the blurb had focussed more on the relationships between the three main characters it would have been more accurate

A lovely story about three women who meet after a german plane crashes on a residential street and who become close friends.They each have their own story of love and war but they all stick together.I can highly recommend this book well worth 5*

I loved this book the author wrote it brilliantly I loved how the girls all met and became the Sussex sisters it reminded me of my sisters we did exactly the same! So I really could resonate with the story line on to my next Pam weaver book

The story was nice but there were a few too many side stories that didn't need to be quite so elaborate/long.

Another great story line from the author. Emotional, nostalgic and full of historical factors. Loved every minute of it.

This is the first wartime book I have read and I really enjoyed it. It was quick paced and packed with drama. There were times it made me both laugh and also feel really sad that people did actually go through this. I wasn't expecting it to be as graphic as it was sometimes, so this came as a little bit of a shock to me. I enjoyed the different points of view and this helped to break the story up. It was a really easy read for me.

I found this story to really surprise me.
From the beginning you wouldn't know how each character came together.
Shocking near the end of the story.
However I will look forward to reading more stories by this author
