I think there were some topics it glossed over that could have been explained more, and the answer keys to the chapter quizzes were often completely off, but overall an enjoyable and informative read.

This rather standard psychology textbook has one big advantage: the audio version. Yes, unlike all other textbooks, the author of this book has decided to take a risk and offer not only a text format but also an audio version. The risk is that textbooks are hard to listen to; you have to read them yourself. Nevertheless, the topic of Psychology is not so complicated, given that in the vast majority of cases the reader is already familiar with the topics covered. If a person reads a lot of books on popular psychology (a la self-help books), then in this book he or she will encounter not only topics that are already familiar but also examples. So in this case, the author did the right thing by offering the book in audio format. And it is much easier to listen to the book once again than to read the book by yourself.

We must also remember that the book deals with all the topics that fall within the subject of psychology, and there is an enormous number of such topics. In other words, the book offers a general knowledge or introduction to all psychology fields. And this in turn means that for a more detailed study of the subject the reader will have to turn to more specialized books on psychology. For example, the author devotes one chapter to Social Psychology. However, it is much better to read the textbook "Social Psychology," which is the same textbook, i.e., with the same number of pages, but which offers a more detailed overview of the topic of social psychology. In such a situation, the purpose of this book is to give a basic introduction to the subject of Psychology, so that the person interested in the subject will know which way to go next, that is, which books to look for in order to gain a deeper knowledge of the subject in question. If this book is viewed from this perspective, then the book has done a perfect job. The book offers the latest data from the world of psychology and does so simply and clearly.

The book is superbly structured so that the reader will not be confused by the subject of Psychology and will get a clear idea of what Psychology actually does. Since many people often think that the science of Psychology is related only to Freud or, with all due respect, to Robert Cialdini, or more precisely, to the psychological tricks described by Robert Cialdini in his book Influence: Science and Practice. In reality, the subject of Psychology is much broader and covers huge areas of human activity. So the book is great for all those who know nothing about psychology, but who would like to get the very basics of the subject. Or who would like to know what the modern science of Psychology has achieved lately? I think this is one of those books that is a must-read for everyone (on a par with economics, political science, and art).

gonna totally nerd out here for a sec.... this was a really good textbook. I had to read the whole thing for my AP Psychology class and I seriously read it cover to cover. It was great, very helpful, easy to read/understand, and it gave great examples. it even had jokes interspersed here and there, which were nice to come across in the midst of tedious reading and note-taking.
def my fave textbook i've ever had to read and it made all the psych homework not as brutal.

I used it for my 2011 fall semester. It isn't a bad book to use. The terms are right at hand instead in the side margins, good explanations and examples through out. And the end of the chapter summaries are well put together, actually making it easier to study for your tests. (If you're using this for class.) Otherwise, it's a good starter book overall if you're wanting to study up on a bit of psychology.

"Psychologia" autorstwa Saundry Ciccarelli i J. Noland White'a to dosyć obszerna pozycja.

I read (some of) this for Psych 1010 and I really enjoyed the class. It was super general overview psychology stuff so it didn't blow my mind. I know a lot about psych from the internet and high school so it was just learning boring names and stuff. my parents both fell in love with psychology in college so I had high expectations but it was exactly how I expected it to be.

So anyway the textbook was good because it was super straightforward and easy to find things. I hate when textbooks will write like 3 sentences what you could say in ten words because it all adds up. My professor took like four chapters out of the original scheduled plan so I guess that's lame. GOODBYE FIRST SEMESTER

I had to read the whole textbook for my introductory psychology class. And I enjoyed doing so. I could have used the chapter summary and the helpful main definitions on the side, which I did to review for the final test, but reading the book cover to cover was enjoyable and very informative.

I haven't enjoyed a textbook that much for years!

For a textbook, this was pretty darn good. However the answers for a lot of the practice tests in the back of the book are wrong, so that confused me on a few tests which isn't cool. Otherwise though, solid.

This seemed like a good intro that explicitly aligns to the APA curriculum. The authors tried to be funny in some inappropriate places, which I found jarring. The physical book itself is also not very useful, as it refers you to the REVEL online content fairly frequently.

If this is the same one I used in my psych class, this book is fantastic. The examples were always easy to understand and interesting to read. The set-up of the book was very clear and organized. I loved the introductions to the chapters and the end of the chapter/section quizzes were definitely helpful. I'd definitely recommend this book to a professor and hope that they'd use it.

Excellent, clear text. Research is well documented. A few of the studies are small samples which really lead to non-conclusive results, but the author clearly spells this out prior to interjecting the research into the discussion. Overall a great reference for anyone who hasn't investigated anything to do with psychology within the last 10 years. The edition I read was very up-to-date.

For a textbook, this is really well written and engaging. Usually with textbooks, I'll have to force myself to read, barely keeping up with the class. This is not an issue with this text.
