The Last Chance Hotel

j’ai beaucoup beaucoup aimé ma lecture! j’ai eu une impression d’ « Akatawitch » et de « Nevermoor » en ce sens où le personnage se retrouve dans un univers merveilleux malgré lui. j’adore être plongé dans ce genre d’univers et dans ce genre d’histoire. surtout, j’ai des envies de mondes merveilleux, ces temps-ci, et ce roman a été à la hauteur de mes attentes. vivement la suite!

Une ambiance tellement bien campée, un soupçon de mystère et de magie sur fond d'enquête qui nous garde curieux du début à la fin du roman.

Es una historia para niños, que podría haberme encantado, pero desarrolla muy poco el mundo donde está situada y deja el final abierto para el siguiente libro.

I almost lost faith in middle grade books as I'm reading this, except from a message from a new friend here in goodreads that I remind myself there are loads of other good stuff around. Like the wonderful series by Cressida Cowell and Morrigan Crow's that I'm waiting for now.
Don't judge a book by its cover. Don't think the book will be good just because the cover looks promising and properly atmospheric and oh my god the design is so cool. This, or that a lady in Waterstones told you I really like this book, or there's a little note taped there saying perfect for fans of Harry Potter (they say this all the time, eh?)
Well, the fault lies in me in a way. I'm probably too old for this, and I'm not the intended audience any more. I shouldn't set my expectation so high. I'm fairly aware I'm becoming more and more of a critic, and pardon me if my language gets too cutting. I'll try to keep everything polite though.
So let's properly begin, if you're with me (well no one's here anymore I guess, but I'll rant on, get it off my chest)... SPOILERS AHEAD
1. The characters are so flat. Everything's so much of a stereotype: the hard working downtrodden kitchen boy who we can't even picture, the grumpy cat who's here just so the book has something to sell on, the eccentric Inspector with the penetrating gaze (have I heard this before, right?) Not to mention the mean girl who's here, apparently, just to be mean. No backstory, no reason, but only a device to... well, be a bully, and that bothers me a lot.
2. Too many characters. Too many attempt at details and history that is handled in a confusing and messy way. Why include the Darinder boy if he's not doing anything at all? Or Henri if all that happened is that his name is mentioned once or twice? Why bother with so many guests if you don't develop the characters? They all feel the same: a bland, flat mass of grey figures and names. Don't get me started on the world building. The heck with magic system that's the most uninteresting one I've encountered. Locked room mystery, indeed. We don't even know what the room is like. And the setting of the Hotel is just... meh. It could've been much better, and I as a reader want more of it, instead of it barely mentioned except talking walls.
3. Everything just balloons out of nowhere. Suddenly there's the blooming mass of information that doesn't lead to anywhere, then what... That's a bit much, really.
4. The conclusion's pretty feeble, and the twists are so predictable. Also, the characters are so exasperating. That is VERY face-palm inducing.
I dearly want to drag Poirot into this book and have the whole thing done within an hour. Or Artemis. He would certainly sort everything out right with a parting remark 'Honestly?' and a smirk.
PS. One thing, if you're still with me, would you be so kind to leave me a comment or a like so that I know someone actually read it? I don't mind ranting to thin air -- or in this case, to the keyboard and computer screen, but a little reassurance that I got at least one reader would be very nice. Thanks for your time and I'll stop here though I could have carried on lengthily. Sorry, I'll really stop. (Unless you want more?)

Auf der Suche nach einer geeigneten Klassenlektüre für eine 1. Klasse AHS Unterstufe habe ich diesen Kinderkrimi gelesen. Leider hat mich die Geschichte und ihre sprachliche Gestaltung eher enttäuscht und ich werde diesen Roman nicht mit meiner Klasse lesen.
Im Grunde ist die Geschichte schon in Ordnung und sehr nett, auch auf keinen Fall zu brutal oder grausam für die Zielgruppe der Zehnjährigen. Sprachlich hat mich die Geschichte aber gar nicht überzeugt, die Namen der handelnden Personen sind total lächerlich, was an der Übersetzung liegen mag, und auch irgendwie schwer auseinanderzuhalten. Die Kapitel sind kurz und die Handlung geht im Grunde rasch voran, ich habe aber die ersten und letzten Kapitel als sprachlich zu umständlich und verwirrend erzählt empfunden. Ich glaube nicht, dass alle Schüler*innen meiner Klasse da mitkommen würden. Kleinere Aspekte der Handlung blieben bis zum Schluss offen und ungeklärt, was ich als unbefriedigend empfunden habe.
Falls es jemand mit einer Schulklasse gelesen hat, wäre ich gespannt, wie dieser Roman bei den Kindern angekommen ist.

Heyho,
Wuhuuuu, mein 50. Buch dieses Jahr ist beendet! Und das süße Buch bekommt von mir 3,5 von 5 Sternen. Es ist eindeutig für sehr viel jüngere Leser geschrieben, sodass die Handlung doch recht einfach nachzuvollziehen war. Trotzdem konnte es mich an manchen Stellen überraschen. Die Charaktere sind leider sehr oberflächlich geblieben, das Innenleben wurde oft nur angerissen. Aber wenn man die Zielgruppe bedenkt, dann ist das in Ordnung.
Das Cover leuchtet im Dunkeln, ein sehr schöner Anblick 😊
Hat Spaß gemacht zu lesen. Kann man gut den Kopf ausschalten.

3 1/2 Sterne... ein schöner erster Teil. Für junge Leser ab 10 echt geeignet, wenn man selbst einen Kriminalfall lösen will, der noch dazu Magie enthält :)

Wow j’ai rarement été aussi emballée par un roman, tout au long de ma lecture je voyais le potentiel pour mes élèves. L’hôtel de la dernière chance est un roman policier-fantastique. Et mon dieu que j’ai aimé la combinaison! On s’éloigne du policier classique, mais en même temps tous les éléments sont là (suspects, interrogatoires, mobile, etc.). L’univers magique dans lequel se déroule l’histoire est merveilleux et amène une toute autre dimension au récit. Vraiment un gros coup de coeur de mon côté, je pense même avoir trouvé la prochaine série à faire acheter par l’école. La denouement est surprenant (en tout cas, moi je n’ai rien vu venir) et la fin du roman nous donne vraiment envie de découvrir la suite. Outre le fait que les pages sont trop remplie (je n’aime pas les marges si étroites), ce livre est parfait!!!

This middle grade magical murder mystery was pretty good fun! For me, there was a little too much going on, and Seth isn’t always the best main character as he doesn’t know anything lol. Though that works as a plot device, it means you feel like you always want someone to just tell you what’s going on. He’s also a bit of a push over, and I’m looking forward to how the reveals at the end of the book will (hopefully!) change that.
And I loved Nightshade. Talking cat ftw. She helped with the gloriously spooky feel it had going on.
The magic warred a little with the mystery, especially as Seth was trying to sort out both, so it felt a little info-dump-y in places. But the both elements were good on their own, and I especially like the magical elements for how it all seems to work. I’m assuming there will be a follow up, and I hope we get to see more of that.
I’m giving this 3.5 stars, as it doesn’t hold up to the magic of Nevermoor or the mystery of The Lost Twin, but it does do both well, and it’s awesome and fun to see them combined.

This falls into the Children's Middle Grade genre, and that is exactly how this one felt. The MC is a kitchen boy at a hotel and he wants to be so much more than that, but he being without parents, is abused and pushed around by the bullies which seem to appear around every single corner.
This was a bit of a yawner for me, but I liked the idea behind the cat though. I even liked the MC but he was so much of the same thing.....always the victim...always nice. So 2 stars.

Gleich mal vorneweg: ich denke für Kinder mit dem empfohlenen Alter ist es ein tolles Buch, dass die Augen öffnet für eine Welt voller Magie und einen spannenden Teil hat, in dem man auf Mördersuche geht.
Der Protagonist Seth wächst in einem Hotel auf das mitten im Wald liegt. Verwunschen könnte man es nennen, denn es ist umgeben von einem wundersamen Garten, in dem immer alles wächst was man braucht und umgeben von einem riesigen Wald, der schon immer verzaubert gewirkt hat.
Trotzdem hat Seth nie an Magie geglaubt, bis die Schar an neuen Gästen ins Hotel kommt.
Die Handlung geht flott vorwärts, die Kapitel sind kurz gehalten und die Schreibweise ist einfach und an das Lesealter angepasst. Trotzdem fand ich, das manches etwas wirr oder auch unerklärt beschrieben wurde, wo ich meine Probleme hatte es zu verstehen. Vielleicht denke ich als Erwachsene auch viel mehr darüber nach, während Kinder oder auch andere sich einfach von der Handlung weitertragen lassen. Ich konnte mich einfach nicht so recht mit der Entwicklung anfreunden und wie Seth versucht hat, den Verdacht, dass er der Mörder wäre, aufzuklären.
Die Ideen zur Magie waren allerdings spannend und da gab es einige witzige Vorführungen, der Hintergrund zu dem ganzen Fall hat mir aber nicht so zugesagt, wahrscheinlich weil es nicht wirklich neu oder spannend war. Es plätscherte dann ab der Hälfte eher vor sich hin und die Neugierde, wie es weitergeht, hat sich etwas verloren.
Seth selbst ist ja "der arme Küchenjunge", der ständig gepiesackt wird und alles machen muss und kaum eine Chance hat, jemals den strengen Hotelbesitzern und deren gemeiner Tochter zu entfliehen. Ein bisschen Aschenputtel-Charakter, verknüpft mit magischen Elementen und kuriosen Figuren, mit dem ich nicht so ganz warm geworden bin.
Für Kids aber, wie oben erwähnt, sicher eine schöne Geschichte, die sicher mehr Spaß daran haben.

3.5⭐ J'ai bien aimé cette lecture! Toutefois, j'ai trouvé l'histoire un peu trop simple et facile à deviner. Je me suis aussi un peu perdue au début avec le noms des personnages, ils étaient un peu nombreux 🙈.

A book about a teenager that is thrust I to the world of magic and mystery. I am going to try and avoid comparing it to another series. There are a lot of differences.
The author has the ability to produce some brilliant descriptive writing and characters that you invest in. I feel some minor (and possibly one major) characters could have been expanded upon more without losing the story or the mystery. It was a good read for any age but it also did drag in points.
It created a world and some rules of this world on an intriguing manner. It just lacked magic in some places. I did enjoy the fact that certain cliches were set up and ignored. I expected a few things in the ending and was happy that they didn't happen.
A good start to a series that could get better. There is plenty of room for the series and world to grow.

I really enjoyed reading this book! It was like a cross between Harry potter and Agatha Christie. There was suspense boarding on frustration as the reader goes through the murder mystery. The main character, annoyingly, doesn't help himself and keeps a lot to himself, a sort of dramatic irony, as we know that information might help him but he doesnt say anything! There are many puzzles and inferences that can be made throughout this book, an interesting read for a key stage 2 class. I really liked the descriptions throughout as i could picture the scene. A slow start as the author sets the scene and background information but worth pushing on, you wont be disappointed. I just hope there is a sequel!

This book was not for me. It had all the stuff I like: magic, mystery and murder, but when you combine all of that it just falls really flat.
There were a lot of things wrong with this book. First of all, most of the female characters are very unpleasant. I get it: the writer wants to create the impression that Seth is a sad little boy who cannot stand up for himself. But you can do so without turning the female characters into Mean Girl stereotypes.
Also - and this really bothered me - why is Seth still allowed to wander round the hotel EVEN THOUGH HE IS A MURDER SUSPECT? Make it make sense.
Lastly, the weird character names made reading a drag. At least if you're going to give your characters weird names, make them funny!
Would not recommend.

Otroligt likt Harry Potter om Harry aldrig hade åkt till Hogwarts. Seth får bara slita och svettas, aldrig får han någon bekräftelse av hans goda mat eller hårda arbete. Tills idag, då en magisk grupp kommer på besök och skapar ett ståhej. Allt Seth trodde han visste, visar sig nu vara helt fel.
I början älskade jag boken, men ju mer man märker att Seth inte är den bästa detektiven, vilket jag inte klandrar honom, det är ingen som riktigt rättar honom. Men det blir lite virrigt i min åsikt. Det hade nästan varit bättre att Seth inte redovisar sina hypoteser än att märka att de är "fel".
I början älskade jag boken, men ju mer man märker att Seth inte är den bästa detektiven, vilket jag inte klandrar honom, det är ingen som riktigt rättar honom. Men det blir lite virrigt i min åsikt. Det hade nästan varit bättre att Seth inte redovisar sina hypoteser än att märka att de är "fel".

He's not happy with his life and is hoping to find a way out with the help of Dr. Thallonius, one of the guests that is soon to arrive. I really enjoyed the beginning of this book and really liked Seth as a character, Nightshade was without a doubt one of my favorites! The guests that arrived to the hotel were all quite different and had unique names which made it a bit hard to figure out who was who at first. But I do understand why Thornton choose to have this many characters in the story, it makes it so much harder to figure out who killed Dr. Thallonius.

Ha sido una lectura agradable, perfecta para pasar el rato.
Si bien, algunos elementos no me gustaron mucho como el diseño de personajes, que lo sentí un poco caótico y superficial. Me hubiera gustado que se hablara más del trasfondo de los mismos, para así confundir un poco más al lector a la hora de revelar al asesino.
Me despertó curiosidad por el mundo mágico creado por el autor, sin embargo, no creo darle prioridad a esta saga.

Teachers I know are recommending this to students. Thankfully I don’t know of any school studying it. Dull and convoluted to the extreme, it deserves a place in the discount bin of The Works where hopefully it’ll fade in to obscurity. Take my advice, if someone recommends it ask them this question: have you read it?

It was a joyful book to to read and really begins to encourage the imagination. If I had to describe this book in only three words I would say Whacky, Magic and murder

An interesting locked door mystery. Those who read a lot of mysteries won't have much trouble guessing who done it, but the addition of magic and interesting magical systems keeps the story moving and holds the reader's interest. This does read a little young to me (more like 3rd or 4th grade) but includes murder which tends to make kids gasp when I mention that on school visits, so I'll have to think a bit about who this is for before book talking it. But the murder isn't grisly and I do think there's an audience for this kind of book, it just might be a little more niche in my library.

J'ai bien aimé ce roman qui nous entraîne dans un univers magique, fantastique, et une enquête en même temps. L'hôtel de la dernière chance est un lieu mystérieux dans lequel évoluent des personnages particuliers. Un roman qui nous permet de soupçonner plusieurs personnes. C'est une intrigue bien ficelée. J'ai hâte de lire la suite.

This was enjoyable but didn't bring me the magical feeling I get when reading other middle grades. I liked the characters but never really loved Seth, he annoyed me a few times and I got a little frustrated. The plot was good, the idea solid but it just didn't pull me in as I was hoping. I am glad to have read it though.

Als ich beim Stöbern das erste Mal auf „Hotel der Magier“ gestoßen bin, wusste ich sofort: Das Buch muss ich unbedingt lesen! Es klang einfach so gut. Ein Mix aus Fantasy, Abenteuer und Krimi? Ein abgelegenes Hotel? Und dann sieht auch noch das Cover so wunderschön aus? Das Buch musste ich einfach bei mir einziehen lassen.
Seth arbeitet als Küchenjunge in dem abgelegenen Hotel Zur letzten Chance und ist um sein Leben wahrlich nicht zu beneiden. Jeden Tag schuftet er schwer und muss dabei die gemeinen Schikanen seiner Chefs ertragen. Als außergewöhnliche Gäste erwartet werden, legt sich Seth ganz besonders ins Zeug. Es soll schließlich alles perfekt sein. Dann aber geschieht etwas Furchtbares: Der nette Dr. Thallomius stirbt. Er wurde vergiftet – und zwar durch die Nachspeise, die Seth zubereitet hat. Klar, dass nun alle ihn für den Mörder halten. Seth aber hat mit dem Ganzen nichts zu tun. Er möchte seine Unschuld unbedingt beweisen und beginnt daher auf eigene Faust zu ermitteln.
Leider waren meine Erwartungen an das Buch durch das geniale Cover (das übrigens im Dunklen leuchtet!) und den sehr vielversprechend klingenden Klappentext zu hochgeschraubt. Ich muss gestehen, dass mich das Buch ziemlich enttäuscht zurückgelassen hat.
Der Anfang hat mir noch sehr gut gefallen. Wir lernen unseren Protagonisten Seth kennen, der als Küchenjunge im Hotel Zur letzten Chance arbeitet. Es wird einem sehr schnell deutlich, dass Seth kein einfaches Leben hat. Seine Mutter ist tot, sein Vater ist verschwunden und jeden Tag muss er schwer für seine drei Chefs schuften, dem verschrobenen Henri Schimmel und dem gemeinen Ehepaar Bunn. Täglich wird von er ihnen schikaniert und als wäre das nicht schon mehr als genug, wäre da auch noch die Tochter der Bunns, die blöde Tiffany, die Seth das Leben ebenfalls ziemlich schwer macht. Mir tat Seth richtig leid, denn er ist ein total lieber und sympathischer Kerl. Etwas naiv zwar, aber dieser Punk hat mich persönlich nicht groß gestört.
Leider haben mir dafür so einige andere Dinge nicht so gut gefallen. Meine anfängliche Begeisterung verflog recht schnell. Die Handlung wurde irgendwie immer konfuser und chaotischer, sodass ich stellenweise gar nicht mehr mitbekommen bin. Keine Ahnung, ob Kinder es anders empfinden als ich, als Erwachsene. Mir jedenfalls hat hier etwas der rote Faden gefehlt.
Was mich total verwirrt hat, waren die Namen der Charaktere. Vermutlich lag es daran, dass einfach viel zu wenig über die meisten Figuren erzählt wird, sodass sie so blass blieben. Ich zumindest hatte große Schwierigkeiten damit, den Hotelgästen ihre Namen zuzuordnen und musste beim Lesen immer wieder kurz innehalten und mich fragen, wer nun noch nicht mal wer war.
Zudem muss ich gestehen, dass ich manche Namen als sehr albern empfunden habe, mir waren sie einfach zu gewollt komisch. Allerdings denke ich, dass Kinder das anders sehen werden. Die Zielgruppe wird sich über diese skurrilen Namen bestimmt köstlich amüsieren.
Was mir sehr gut gefallen hat, ist die Suche nach dem Mörder. Es gibt lauter Verdächtige, sodass man lange am Herumrätseln ist. Ich zumindest bin bis zum Schluss im Dunklen getappt und wurde von der Auflösung ziemlich überrascht. Allerdings war mir die Handlung dennoch zu ruhig. Etwas mehr Spannung, besonders in der zweiten Hälfte des Buches, hätte der Geschichte sehr gut getan.
Wovon ich mir eindeutig mehr erhofft habe, ist das Setting. Ich kann noch nicht mal so genau sagen warum, aber ich liebe es, wenn Bücher in Hotels spielen. Ich finde, dass diese Kulisse immer eine ganz eigene Atmosphäre verströmt. Mir hat dieser besondere Zauber hier nur leider etwas gefehlt. Wie die Charaktere, so wurden auch die meisten Schauplätze meiner Ansicht nach zu oberflächlich beschrieben, sodass bei mir leider das Kopfkino ausblieb.
Das Ende lässt so einige Fragen offen, sodass ich schon davon ausgehe, dass es eine Fortsetzung geben wird. Da bin ich mir aber noch nicht sicher, ob ich diese lesen werde. Momentan würde ich eher zu Nein tendieren.
Fazit: Mich konnte „Hotel der Magier“ leider nicht so begeistern wie von mir erhofft. In meinen Augen hätte man aus dieser tollen Idee mehr machen können. Ich habe die Story als ziemlich wirr empfunden und stellenweise ist sie mir zu sehr vor sich hingeplätschert. Mit den Charakteren bin ich nicht komplett warmgeworden und der Humor war auch nicht so meiner. Es ist natürlich immer Geschmackssache, mich jedenfalls konnte das Buch nicht überzeugen. Die Aufmachung ist aber super! Ich liebe das Cover! Für mich reicht es hier aber leider dennoch nur für 2,5 – hier gerundet auf 3 von 5 Sternen.

One of my favorite things to do in Waterstones (the UK equivalent of Barnes & Noble) is wander through the children's section and find new stories. A few weeks ago, when we were in London, this book was *everywhere.* And, after wavering for a long time (and realizing that if I bought it on Amazon, it wouldn't be any cheaper than if I just paid the exchange rate) I picked it up. It was, apparently, the "winner of the Times' Children's Fiction Competition" and was a magical murder mystery.
And...it was an interesting read, I suppose. The best way to describe this book is that it'sAgatha Christie meets Harry Potter meets Sherlock Holmes with a dash of Scooby Doo thrown in. No, really: there's a line at the end of the book where one of the characters says, "The Bunns would have got away with it too, if it had been for Miss Squerr and her department checking on these things."
--Agatha Christie: it's a murder mystery whodunit, yes, but more than that, it's a cast of people with odd names and murky backstories who assemble together in a spooky hotel in the middle of nowhere and all of them, in one way or another, have a motive or come under suspicion. There's even Inspector Pewter who is quirky, has unique methods, and a self-deprecating sense of humor that seems VERY Hercule Poirot.
--Harry Potter: there's an orphan kid whose parents are absent and lives with a mean husband-wife couple and their awful daughter and all three of them treat him terribly. And at one point, he's even locked in a cupboard. (No word on whether it's located under the stairs.) And, spoiler alert, he may (or may not) have magic.
--Sherlock Holmes: the climactic scene literally takes place at a waterfall that, for all intents and purposes, may as well be named Reichenbach.
So, here's the thing.
As far as mysteries go -- and the whodunit plot really picked up the last 150 pages which redeemed the book a tiny bit for me -- I would give it 4 stars.
But.
[Because there's always a 'but' isn't there?]
But. One of the things that makes Agatha Christie murder mysteries so enjoyable to me (I know other people hate them) is that they're very character-driven, and there's really not much going on outside of the murder mystery.
Thornton, however, throws a whole second plot in about magic and magical schools (oh, yes. That's right. There's a magical school too that our protagonist, Seth, may be attending. It's called Hogwarts -- no, wait. That's not right...) that just comes out of nowhere.
Okay. Not out of *nowhere,* exactly because the jacket summary mentions "a strange gathering of magicians." But, TBH, I thought that meant like, you know, Houdini magicians, not Harry Potter-esque wizards. Because that's what they are. And the whole world building is just...y'all know I'm a stickler for world-building. Here, "magicians" are actually wizards/witches (essentially), and there's magic, but what are the rules? It was frustrating and admittedly a little confusing as a reader because the two stories seemed rather disjointed. I'm not saying it couldn't have worked -- because I think it could have -- but then you'd have to have (IMHO) your protagonist know about magic or at least introduce it earlier so that it didn't seem so disconnected.
Bah.
Probably a fine reader for Middle-grade readers who don't obsessively care about world building like I do.

SCHREIBSTIL & LESEFLUSS
Nicki Thornton hat einen sehr feinfühligen, ruhigen und doch humorvollen Schreibstil. Mir hat es sehr gefallen wie schön die Autorin hier geschrieben hat und wie leicht der Stil war. Trotz der Leichtigkeit und des feinfühligen schreibens der Autorin muss ich sagen, dass die Spannungim Stil trotzdem kontinuirlich aufrecht erhalten wurde und das hat mich echt so gefesselt und begeistert. Nicki Thornton schreibt einfach richtig gut und begeistert mit ihren Worten. Ich mochte den Stil sehr gerne, da er sich sehr gut lesen lies und ich so schnell voran gekommen bin.
CHARAKTERE
Wir lernen in diesem Buch den sympathischen und, wie ich finde lustigen, Seth als Protagonisten kennen. Seth war mir auf anhieb sympathisch und wirkte auch sehr gut durchdacht. Stellenweise wirkte er zwar zu naiv, zu gestellt, aber in meinen Augen passte es einfach perfekt zu ihm und machte ihn dadurch zu einem sehr interessanten und authentischen Protagonisten. Auch die anderen Charaktere waren einfach richtig gut gezeichnet und haben mir sehr viel Lachen beschert, da sie alle auf ihre Art und Weise humorvoll waren und das peppte die Geschichte nocheinmal richtig auf.
STORY & VERLAUF
Die Story rund um Seth und seine Freunde ist der Autorin einfach durchweg gelungen. Ich mochte den Spannungsaufbau in der Story sehr und ich wollte immer wissen wie die Story weiter geht. Die Story war einfach sehr schön durchdacht und echt gut umgesetzt, hier kann ich echt nicht meckern. Auch der Verlauf der Story war einfach richtig genial und ich verfolgte die Story und den Verlauf dieser gebannt mit. Schon ab der ersten Seite war ich in der Story drin und konnte mich voll und ganz auf diese einlassen. Nicki Thornton schaffte es hier Spannung und Humor richtig gut zu vereinen.
HANDLUNG & STRANG
Bei der Handlung wusste die Autorin genau was sie tut, denn von Seite zu Seite wurde die handlung einfach humorvoller, lustiger und spannender. Schon ab der ersten Seite war ich in der Handlung drin und konnte diese auch auf den weiteren Seiten vollkommen nachvollziehen. Die handlung war ebenfalls wie die Story durchdacht, einfach gehalten und doch fesselnd erzählt, dass ich keine Probleme mit dieser hatte. Auch die Handlungsstränge im Buch waren stets präsent und haben sich einwandfrei an die Handlung geschmiegt und ein Gesamtbild erschaffen, dass ich sehr gerne mochte.
MEIN FAZIT:
Abschließend muss ich sagen, dass Hotel der Magier ein humorvolles, spannendes und echt tolles Kinderfantasybuch ist, dass sich sehr gut in einem Rutsch lesen lies. Nicki Thornton erzählt hier eine Geschichte die sehr humorvoll und echt rübergekommen ist. Hotel der Magier ist ein gelungenes Buch, welches ich weiterempfehlen kann. Es ist zwar kein Highlight aber die Story war richtig gut und spannend bis zu letzten Seite und daher vergebe 4 von 5 Sterne.

Nicki Thornton schreibt einfach richtig gut und begeistert mit ihren Worten. Ich mochte den Stil sehr gerne, da er sich sehr gut lesen lies und ich so schnell voran gekommen bin.
CHARAKTERE
Wir lernen in diesem Buch den sympathischen und, wie ich finde lustigen, Seth als Protagonisten kennen. Seth war mir auf anhieb sympathisch und wirkte auch sehr gut durchdacht. Stellenweise wirkte er zwar zu naiv, zu gestellt, aber in meinen Augen passte es einfach perfekt zu ihm und machte ihn dadurch zu einem sehr interessanten und authentischen Protagonisten. Auch die anderen Charaktere waren einfach richtig gut gezeichnet und haben mir sehr viel Lachen beschert, da sie alle auf ihre Art und Weise humorvoll waren und das peppte die Geschichte nocheinmal richtig auf.
STORY & VERLAUF
Die Story rund um Seth und seine Freunde ist der Autorin einfach durchweg gelungen. Ich mochte den Spannungsaufbau in der Story sehr und ich wollte immer wissen wie die Story weiter geht. Die Story war einfach sehr schön durchdacht und echt gut umgesetzt, hier kann ich echt nicht meckern. Auch der Verlauf der Story war einfach richtig genial und ich verfolgte die Story und den Verlauf dieser gebannt mit. Schon ab der ersten Seite war ich in der Story drin und konnte mich voll und ganz auf diese einlassen. Nicki Thornton schaffte es hier Spannung und Humor richtig gut zu vereinen.
HANDLUNG & STRANG
Bei der Handlung wusste die Autorin genau was sie tut, denn von Seite zu Seite wurde die handlung einfach humorvoller, lustiger und spannender. Schon ab der ersten Seite war ich in der Handlung drin und konnte diese auch auf den weiteren Seiten vollkommen nachvollziehen. Die handlung war ebenfalls wie die Story durchdacht, einfach gehalten und doch fesselnd erzählt, dass ich keine Probleme mit dieser hatte. Auch die Handlungsstränge im Buch waren stets präsent und haben sich einwandfrei an die Handlung geschmiegt und ein Gesamtbild erschaffen, dass ich sehr gerne mochte.
MEIN FAZIT:
Abschließend muss ich sagen, dass Hotel der Magier ein humorvolles, spannendes und echt tolles Kinderfantasybuch ist, dass sich sehr gut in einem Rutsch lesen lies. Nicki Thornton erzählt hier eine Geschichte die sehr humorvoll und echt rübergekommen ist. Hotel der Magier ist ein gelungenes Buch, welches ich weiterempfehlen kann. Es ist zwar kein Highlight aber die Story war richtig gut und spannend bis zu letzten Seite und daher vergebe 4 von 5 Sterne.
