Business has changed over the years. Not so long ago, the majority of people did manual labor. It was clear what needed to be accomplished in a day and if the employees pulled their weight. Today, most people are involved in some type of knowledge work be that planning, answering emails, researching, or project management. Often it’s very difficult to judge or compare productivity.

Reinvent Your Enterprise explores the concept of knowledge work: what it is, how it differs from manual labor, and perhaps most importantly how to determine what needs to be done and when. Really, it’s all about clarity: understanding your business, your clients, and your employees. Then, using this knowledge to simplify, focus, and make use of available skills to build a better company.

Reinvent Your Enterprise provides much food for thought. Although the author’s expertise is primarily with large and mega-corporations, even small business owners will find this model useful. Sometimes, bigger isn’t better and throwing more people into the mix isn’t the answer anyway.
