Climbing the corporate ladder in a pair of fabulous stilettos isn’t easy, not even for a witch.

Anastasia Winters is on a mission to become the supernatural world’s go-to event coordinator. With a high-profile wedding in the final stretch, she needs everything to go just right. But when the groom gets dosed with an experimental potion and professes his undying love for the maid of honor, Anastasia’s shot at the wedding-planner big leagues goes up in flames.

Can she get the wedding back on track, or is she destined to be demoted back to coordinating birthday parties for baby dragons and filling the guest list for the Tooth Fairy’s Halloween bash?

I had just finished up Newly Wed and Slightly Dead and had such a good time that I was glad to grab up this earlier prequel to show how Harmony came to live with Anastasia.

A wedding rehearsal dinner mishap led to a little mystery and a few surprises along the way. It was light and fun with a good bit of time with the sisters who find common ground though they are opposites. Looking forward to more good things from the series.

Cute little prequel novella to the series, mostly just introducing us to some characters. I will see how the full length books are. Nicely narrated on audio by Amanda Ronconi.

I listened to the Witchy Weddings: A Magic with Mystery Series: The Complete Touch of Magic Series on Audible narrated by Amanda Ronconi. Amanda did a good job, but I hadn’t really investigated what kind of book I just pressed play on.

Cupid in a bottle, the first short story, had the most random/conveniently inconvenient plot conflict of all time. Lazy puns. And a world that might as well have been set in the real one. A shimmer bus is just a bus, and a wedding planner is just a wedding planner, with no powers as to not inconvenience the author of the book. I just thought that the author didn’t utilize the fantasy elements well enough to justify the fantasy setting.

It's supposed to be a cozy read but the characters are aggravating, and instead of diving into character centered arcs and cute moments between the main cast, we have the beloved mystery genre rear its ugly head in yet another female centered romcom, without the romance part, that has yet to come in the series, but it's coming!

I just don't think the hook was worthy of a whole story. I mean, in a world of magic, people should be more lenient towards strange behavior, such as being randomly and abnormally lovestruck for a few seconds towards the wrong person etc.

It's incredible that this magical society can even exist when the ‘police’ of the world are so inept at their jobs. You would think magic was a foreign concept to them. Generally I don’t think the author has put enough thought into what her setting actually entails and needs.

The story just felt very generic and lacking in heart. So two stars from me.

This was such a fun, charming start to yet another series I’ve decided to dive into—and honestly, I’m not even mad about it. The story followed Anastasia Winters, a supernatural event coordinator with big dreams and even bigger responsibilities. She was planning a high-profile wedding rehearsal dinner at a ritzy venue when everything went sideways in the most hilariously magical way. One second, everyone was enjoying their hors d'oeuvres, and the next, the bride was storming off while the groom was professing his love to the maid of honor. Classic love potion chaos—except it wasn’t supposed to be on the menu.

What unfolded was a lighthearted mystery filled with magical hijinks and a few genuinely surprising turns. I really enjoyed the relationship between Anastasia and her sister—two total opposites finding a bit of common ground as the chaos unfolded. The sisterly dynamic added a lot of warmth and depth to the otherwise breezy plot. And while it was short, it packed in plenty of character development, a sprinkle of romance, and a delightful touch of mischief.

The setting was vivid and easy to picture—glamorous venues, magical mishaps, and a supernatural community that felt alive without overwhelming the story. The writing was sharp and funny, with the kind of wit that made the whole thing feel effortless to read. I flew through it and immediately wanted more. If the rest of the series keeps up this energy, I’m definitely in for the long haul.

Cupid in a Bottle is book 0.5 in the Touch of Magic Mysteries series. This is a Novella that gives us an intro to the characters and a very short little mystery that they solve. This book is only 1 hour and 13 minutes long. Cupid in a Bottle is a paranormal cozy mystery set in Seattle, Washington. The main character is Anastasia Winters. She is 29 and an event planner. The secondary character is Anastasia's 21 year old sister, Harmony. Harmony is always in some sort of trouble that Anastasia has to bail her out of. In this book, she came to stay with Anastasia and ended up be partially responsible for the trouble at a very important rehearsal dinner. A temporary love potion she created was taken from her purse and slipped to the groom. This was cute. It was way too short to really make a solid decision for how the series might be, but I will definitely continue on to book 1 and give it a try.

Anastasia Winters is busy working her way up the ladder at her firm when her younger sister appears desperately in need of a place to live. Her sister has historically been a bit of a screw up but she agrees as she works to throw a successful wedding.
--------------------------------------------
So this little novella doesn't really work by itself, and I wish this book was after the first book in the audiobook because it's not the kind of novella to stand on its own. It's just background info about Anastasia's relationship with her sister.
It did that, but there really wasn't a plot?
The mystery element didn't really work because Anastasia didn't investigate. The wedding planning element doesn't work either because you don't get to see the end result or the buildup.

It's okay a novella, but it can't stand on its own.

Anastasia Winters is on a mission to become the supernatural world’s go-to event coordinator. She is trying to get a very big client's wedding rehearsal dinner done in one of the most expensive places in town. Then all of a sudden, the bride is throwing things at the groom to be, and stomping out to the restroom. What happened? Everyone was having a great time. Well, someone gave the groom a love potion that only lasts for a brief minute or two, but he declared his undying love to the maid of honor instead of the bride! Who would do such a thing and where did they get it? You will have to read this comical short story to find the answers. I personally enjoyed it very much. I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book.

"Cupid in a Bottle" is a spinoff Novella from Danielle Garrett's Beechwood Harbor Mysteries Series. Anastasia Winters has worked her way up the corporate ladder of event planning. She's got her wedding planning down to a science and is working on her biggest gig yet. But that can all disappear with the arrival of her younger sister. Will her sister's shenanigans get her fired or will they prove to be her greatest asset?
Overall, this is a fun but quick read. It gives the reader an inside look at Anastasia's life working in the Seattle Haven. If you liked Garrett's other novels, you'll like this one too.

Will they or won't they

I enjoyed this but it seemed to just stop midstream - really annoying. Be woken in the middle of the night by her errant sister shouldn't have surprised her. However deciding what to do is a much harder decision. Being a wedding planner means her time is already alloted. Can she get her sister a job? Will her latest job actually take place after the actions of certain jealous individuals? Was really getting into the story when it ended. Frustrating! !!

I loved how the paranormal community in this book reminded me a lot of the Harry Potter books. Anastastia is certainly in for more than she bargained for when her little sister shows up at her door. Between this two of them I thought this story was funny and a lot of fun. How much fun it must be to set up a magical wedding. Just thinking of all the things you could do and or have was half the fun. I am looking forward to the next book in this series as this prequel was way to short and I wanted more.

This was a really short prequel to a series that is from the same ‘world’ as another series I’ve enjoyed. This one didn’t really speak to me. The other series has the odd paranormal element but this is chock full of it with no real explanations. I will continue with the series and see if I get into it, not sure if I will though. There’s a point where the supernatural can become twee. I wasn’t keen on the idea of fairies moving pieces of paper, it just seemed unnecessary and a bit silly to me. I’ll continue and see if I enjoy the actual books. It might be a crossover that’s not for me though.

A fun introduction to Anastasia and her irresponsible younger sister, Harmony. This trilogy gears a bit more to the light-hearted and somewhat frivolous side of things, with Anastasia's love of high fashion, and the more elegant things in life. The mystery was fun, and the characters were multi-layered and interesting. I enjoyed seeing a series based entirely in the Haven world, where everyone knows about magic and there's nothing to hide in that regard.

What do you do when your deadbeat sister pops in during the middle of the night and throws confusion every step of the next day at your dream job? You want to be angry, but hold your tongue. Good thing too, because what you think and what actually happens aren't necessarily the same thing.

A very short story that ends in a nice way.

I think this was a cute story but it was only about 2 sisters: One who had her shit together and one who was kind of a flake.

There was no hero so if you're looking for a little romance you won't find it in this book. Therefore, I would have to pass on reading anything else by this author. No heroes, no interest!

An introduction to the series A Touch of Magic Mysteries. Anastasia is an event coordinator for supernatural events. Weddings, parties and anything else you need. When the groom gets dosed with a potion and professes his love for the maid of honor, the wedding falls apart. This is the story of how Anastasia uses her brain and talents to solve a mystery and save a wedding.

Harmony showed up at her sisters Anastasia house. Harmony got relieved of her duties, and did not have anywhere else to go. Anastasia took Harmony to help get her a job. This story didn’t keep me guessing, it was interesting to see what would happen. After solving a mystery. I received a copy from the author and voluntarily decided to leave a review.

As short stories to this is pretty darn good

A tale of two sisters, entertaining and well told. Good characters, slick plot, beautifully written. The story lacked nothing and definitely doesn't leave you feeling short changed.

I read this as part of Betwixt: A Beechwood Harbor Collection: Volume Two

Cute story. I really like these characters, which were knew to me (I don't know them from the Beechwood Harbor series). I REALLY wanted more, this story didn't feel complete, which is why it's 3.5 stars

This is a promising start to a new series! Anastasia and her hot mess of a sister, Harmony, have their work cut out for them when they need to rescue a rehearsal dinner gone amok. Such a fun novella!

Good as an intro to the author’s style, and the personalities of the two sisters, as well as background on how they came to live together, and their occupations. If you prefer audiobooks, then this is also your opportunity to decide if you like the narrator.

Short and sweet!,

Love learning about Anastasia and her sister. I'm excited to see where the story goes. Also, the way Anastasia stresses about her sister is almost too realistic for me about my sister.

Short and not-so-sweet but fun anyway. I suppose we've all had days like this but I'll have to move right along to Book #1 before making any actual objective remarks. Watch this space.
