A construction bunny learns a creative lesson in sharing and friendship when he meets the biggest carrot of his life.LaRue was very handy. His toolbox had everything and industrious bunny could ever need. Everything, that is, except carrots. But then LaRue stumbles onto a special seed. With proper tending, this seed quickly grows into an ENORMOUS CARROT! What's a bunny to do with so much carrot? In a stroke of construction genius (and generosity), LaRue has the answer. This clever story celebrates just what it means to be a friend. Christy Ottaviano Books

Illustrations created digitally and then collaged through Adobe Photoshop complement a story about friendship, patience, and imagination. LaRue enjoys making things, and he has many tools to do so. Unfortunately, he finds himself without carrots. When he asks his friends for some, they have none either, but they do have an orange seed. Not surprisingly considering its size, the seed eventually produces an enormous carrot, which LaRue fashions into lumber and then into the things his friends, Ivy, Nevil, and Stella need. Feeling good about what he's done to help his friends, LaRue saves one bit of carrot for himself, and he eats it while relaxing and watching his friends enjoy their gifts. This picture book contains a sweet message about generosity and kindness to others while also showing off one oversized carrot. It makes a good readaloud and launching point for a discussion about friendship and giving back to others.
Cute story. My son was excited to see how the bunny used various tools to construct gifts for his friends. Really great message about sharing and compassion.
Slack delivers another gem with Bunny Built. Burnt Built is the story of a bunny looking for carrots to eat, but he keeps coming up empty handed. As he checks with friends, he discovers they are also missing treasured items. What he does with a found "seed" is heart-warming and endearing. Friends meeting needs is something Slack is good at writing about it. He does not disappoint here. Loved sharing this one with my class.
LaRue, the handiest bunny in Westmore Oaks, can’t find any carrots. So he gets in his truck to find some, but all his friends are missing their carrots, too, due to problems they have encountered (like Stella’s birdhouse being blown away.) But when he finds what he thinks is a giant carrot seed, he plants it and uses the harvest to help his friends.
Children will enjoy this book about a bunny on a mission to find a carrot to eat. He doesn't quite find a carrot, but he does find the next best thing: a seed. What he does with the seed and the subsequent giant carrot is endearing.

6/22/2019 ~ The thoughtful bunny helps others first, sharing the bounty of his hard work. This book had an interesting mix of cute bunny and big machines, and it will be most appealing to preschoolers. It reinforces gender roles.
Genre: Fiction Grade: Preschool- 1 Review: This book was a cute little book about a rabbit who ran out of carrot. He grew a new one and then he was happy and showed all of his friends. I think it was a cute book because he had all of his friends help him with the process.

Bunny is building a very large carrot, but what will he do with it when it is ready to come up? His friends are in need of things and the bunny knows exactly what to build with his large carrot.
Love it! I love how LaRue uses different types of equipment. So if your little reader loves trucks and bulldozers, it is a perfect read for them. I also love how he gave back in the end.
