Harry Potter fanfiction. Sent back in time by a mysterious person and trapped in the past with a missing Dumbledore and an overbearing, charismatic Dark Lord, they had no idea how much they could dabble with time before the world they had known shattered into pieces.
pros - in character-ish hermione. like, when i read that scene of her getting angry at tom in the library i was like WOW. surprisingly super in character - in character tom - draco is such a gem. there’s something wrong with my humor, i know, but whenever he calls harry “potty” or “pothead” i have to actually laugh out loud. plus, him always frantically trying to let tom know he wants nothing to do romantically with Hermione is hilarious cons - minor grammatical errors - cliches HOWEVERRR i can't get too angry about them because this was published in 2008, apparently. i've never liked the cliche of a gaggle of jealous fangirls constantly following around the male lead because it makes zero sense - the whole thing of tom being this sought after husband makes no sense. he's a broke half-blood with no foreseeable future, and the parkinsons trying to get their kid to marry him is ridiculous. as far as they know, he would offer zero benefits to their family. - hermione is a dumb fuck. like, early on she just kinda forgets that ron is her boyfriend and she's making out with magic hitler. hello??? she should feel disgust at her attraction to him and her betrayal to ron, not gloss over it and pretend that those very real problems don't exist - severely disappointed hermione didn’t die. like, yes, i wanted all the angst, but also, her resurrection is mad convenient. there’s not even any consequences for bringing her back. tom should be a lot more... possessive over her, but their relationship remains stagnant. you could take out her dying from the fic and nothing would change - death being a character is so corny HOWEVER again this was published in 2008 so i can kinda forgive this - the fact that tomione's relationship is still the same after 15 years?? girl i was so disappointed & i wanted there to be a lot more progress. it made me so sad and left me feeling unfulfilled idk especially since he was so distraught over her death. like that DEFINITELY calls for him to act differently towards her
It started out interesting, but I honestly got a bit bored once it hit a certain point, and I almost had to drag through til then end. The end itself sort of felt like a fizzle to me.
