For months, Cavatica and her gunslinging sisters have heard rumors of psychotic monstrosities killing everything in their path. But the Wellers have more important Pilate and Micaiah have been captured by the ARK, and it’s up to the sisters to save them.

Once again, the odds are not in their favor. If they manage to survive the treacherous weather of the Rocky Mountains, Tiberius “Tibbs” Hoyt has created new super soldiers known as the Severins to stop them. You need an army to fight an army, and the Weller sisters think the outlaw warlord known as June Mai Angel might help them. But she’s tried to kill the sisters twice. Can they convince her to help?

Aaron Michael Ritchey was born with Colorado thunderstorms in his soul. He's sought shelter as a world traveler, an endurance athlete, a story addict, and even gave serious thought to becoming a Roman Catholic priest. After too brief a time in Paris, he moved back to the American West and lives semi-comfortably with three forces of nature: a little, blonde hurricane, an artistic tornado, and a beautiful, beautiful blizzard.

Cavatica Weller and her sisters are off in their ever continuing quest to fight the founder of ARK, Tiberius Hoyt and expose his treachery. Not only has he been bioengineering super soldiers, but he also has the cure for the sterility problem. But, first, they must try and save Micaiah, Hoyt’s son, and Pilate, their friend, and a priest from the clutches of ARK’s Praetor Edger and her army.

Ritchey’s fourth novel The Juniper Wars series, Bindweed Highway delivers a fast paced, high octane, steampunk western. There is no lack of action. It is told from Cavvy’s point of view with her own brand of reflection.

I thoroughly love this series and was not disappointed. And, neither will you be.

5 out of 5 stars.

The Weller sisters have just escaped Aces and his horde of macho misogynists and are doing their utmost to escape the ARK troops however everything is against them including the weather. Pilate and Micah have been taken by the ARK soldiers and the girls know it is up to them to save them. However their highest priority is to get the chalkdrive with the data for the cure of the sterility epidemic which ARK had always known of to the media and Cavvy thought that getting this to the outlaw warlord, a prime enemy of the Wellers, June Mai Angel was her best hope. So even when the going could not get any tougher and Cavvy finds herself struggling, in dire pain with no food or water she keeps her imperative in mind and struggles on. The number of betrayals in this book are incredible and they came from people one least expected them from. This is another very exciting read full of bravery and the will to do what is right even at the cost of so much sacrifice. Is the trek worth all the pain in the end?

This Dude Is Such A Good Writer--A+

I just love the Weller Sisters and The Juniper Wars quadrilogy so much. Future western post-apocalyptic stories now seem rife with possibility to me. And the writing here is first-rate, almost poetic at times, yet packed with slam bam battles and wild action sequences and big old helpings of love. Can't beat that combo, if you ask me.

Title: Wow - what a ride!

Content Ratings: Violence - R; Language - R; Other - R

So, I've had the 5 books of this series (more on that later) for years and never got around to reading them. I heard somewhere they were being re-released, so I figured I'd start reading them as kind of a "back burner" read - just a little here and there. Nope. Quickly dropped everything else I was reading and blasted through all 5 books in about as many days. ...only to find out that wasn't the end of the story! What ?!?! I asked around and was pleased to find out that the re-release is because the series is continuing. I **think** the 6th book is the finale, but that's all third hand information. Also, I blasted through these so quickly, this review is for books 1 through 5 as a whole.

This is a very well written, fast paced dystopian / post-apocalyptic tale with fantastic characters and an engaging plot. See above about how I had no interest in reading anything else (I usually have 2 to 4 books going at a time) - these books are that engaging. One caveat is that there are more than a few ideas and behaviors here that make sense for these characters in their dystopian world that wouldn't translate well into our current-day world, especially for younger minds. That said, bring on book 6.
