A good reminder of the things we take for granted. Inspirational

I am Malala is a story of a very strong and brave young woman. It is written by Malala and there are pashto words (most with translations and explanations) throughout the book. The publisher made sure to keep much of Malalas original wording and style which gives the text a very distinct voice. The author spends a lot of time going back and forth between her memories and experiences as a child living under an unstable government, and historical events that happened leading up to her being shot. I thought the book did a good job describe what it was like for Malala as a child, the challenges she and her family overcame, illustrating their strengths and the good that hard work and dedication can achieve. However, Malala's style is very descriptive and she really tries to immerse you in her culture which might be great for many readers, but I had a hard time staying focused on the story because of the descriptive tangents. Overall, great message, but presented in a style that I do not prefer.
