Spellbinder Bay #2

Broomsticks And Bones

Rate this book
What do you get if you cross a murder, the skeleton of a mysterious creature, gold fever and plenty of magic? Mayhem, mystery and laughter - that's what!

This is book number two in series. Although the reader might enjoy it as a standalone novel, the author strongly suggests that book number one - 'Witch Way to Spellbinder Bay' - is read first.

Millie Thorn has been in the paranormal town of Spellbinder Bay for a few months. During that time, she's come to terms with the fact that she's a witch, and she's come to terms with the fact that her familiar, Reuben, is a particularly cheeky cockatiel.

She's finding it hard to come to terms with the knowledge that the father she never knew she had lives in the same town as her. She's finding it even harder to pluck up the courage to discover his identity. When her magical familiar, Reuben, comes up with a plan which may make the delicate situation easier, Millie must decide whether she has the courage to face somebody she never thought she'd see again. Somebody who has been dead for a long time.

When Millie is witness to the discovery of a body, gold and the skeletal remains of a strange creature - presumed to be a dinosaur, things begin to spiral into a mystery which involves demons, metal detectorists, alien hunters - and homemade biscuits. (With a choice of raisins, chocolate chip, or for the adventurous - both.)

Never having been the jealous type, Millie can't quite work out why she's so offended at the fact that George, a handsome vampire, is showing interest in a mystery woman - but is determined to find out just who the attractive nurse is.

With all the ingredients required for magic, mystery, humour and mayhem - 'Broomsticks and Bones' is the second book in the Spellbinder Bay cozy mystery series.

Some answers can cause more harm than good

Another great one in the series. A flash of light on the beach leads to the discovery of a skeleton. However there is also gold on the beach, which leads to some bad feeling. When the finder of the gold is murdered the questions multiply. Who killed him? What does the skeleton mean and how will it affect the community? Finding a ring also leads to questions - what does the inscription mean? Add in a cold case missing person, the unread letter from her mother and two demons for a great read. Terrific plot woven around the lives of our main characters that will have you wondering how things will work out. Great to read about the characters and learn more about what makes them tick.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

Gold, Alien skeletons, missing fathers, and more are woven into this novel. Newly discovered Witch Millie Thorn, is shocked when she stumbles upon another body. Not just a person, but, a person Millie had liked. She is determined to find his killer.

Enter the Constabulary which watches over the human and paranormal community. Luckily, Millie has an aptitude for seeking out murderers. However, what is she to do about the Alien hunters??

This is a true paranormal book. The mysteries are many and you have to let go of the 'box' and stretch your imaginations to follow this talented author. Please read the first volume in the series first as it introduces all the characters and allows you to venture into the possibilities of things you might just thought were myths...

Entertaining

The book was an easy read but it entertained me which is all I really want. However, it's irritating to not be able to get Book 2 when your ready to read it and by the time it's released I will have forgotten about it. If it gives you a release date, you have to buy it to make sure it's delivered to you but since I read this book under my Kindle Unlimited plan, so why would I want to buy book 2 when I didn't buy book 1 and book 2 will probably be released in the Unlimited plan too. Frustrating!!

Murder - Again

I loved this book as much as the first one. Millie, Judith and the police sargeant are again up to their necks in mystery and murder. Bones were found in the dunes on the beach after a huge storm. A man with a metal detector found the bones when he was looking for gold. This started a chain of events which eventually solved more than one mystery. I sincerely hope there will be another book in the series soon.

Paranormal, Demons, witches and mystery.

If you read the first book this on ties up a few of the subjects covered, plus includes more mysteries. Cold cases get updated, bones get found, as does gold. New characters arrive in Spellbinder Bay, and someone gets murdered. Lots going on spells, quiz nights, detective work, little bit of romance. If you like fantasy with a twist you might enjoy reading these stories.

Even more spellbinding

This series continues to delight. There is good interaction between the characters and interesting developments in the storyline. I love the fact that Milli's familiar is a very sassy cockatiel (a move away from the traditional) and I can watch the bond between them growing stronger. The other characters have well rounded personalities and I look forward to reading more about life in Spellbinder Bay.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one. I love that the solving of the murder (as in the first book) wasn't quite the end of the story.
I'm excited to see how her new knowledge of family plays out.
As for story who couldn't find shipwrecked gold, alien bones, possession, and feisty elderly by play fun.
Bring on the next book please.

A Spellbinder Bay Cozy Paranormal book 2

This was another winner. I hope there is a book 3. This new author for me is a man. He writes very well with great characters and wonderful storylines. Most cozy Mysteries I read are from woman. As long as they are good as this one was. I highly recommend his books. Diana Romano

This was an enjoyable mystery. Its cosy and I just got myself settled down to finish it off after I started it last night.

It isn't the most complicated mystery, the 2 subplots of a missing woman from years ago and the murder of someone recent was an interesting combo. I saw who killed the missing woman but not the person who killed the recent person.

The demons are a nice twist.

Awesome new series

Awesome new urban fantasy/cozy mystery series. A nice new series with a great cast of characters and a great storyline. A little bit of humor a little bit of grit throw in the supernatural twist and it’s a very entertaining read. Definitely check them out

Laughter and sadness

I wanted to cry at the end of this book. Poor Millie nothing seems to go her way or its a big fight to get an inch. Millie is back for another mystery in her town. Her personal life just breaks my heart. I hope by the end of this series she gets her HEA.

Good Fun

Interesting taking on the paranormal world. Enjoyed the characters but it did seem to jump around with the storyline. Characters are good and I'll be rewarding the next one.

Witches, Mermaids and demon bones!

Millie is a witch, just like her Mum! She has a cockatiel as a familiar and she really wants to know who her father is! There is treasure hunting, motorcycle riding and alien hunters, just for starters!

Great fun

I really enjoyed this book, and without giving too much away, enjoyed the description of how a mermaid breathes. I felt it finally made it “realistic.” This ends on an impressive cliffhanger so I’m waiting with baited breath for more.

Quirky bit of fun

Wow. I flew through this. After the shenanigans in book 1 I honestly didn’t think anything could top that, but lost treasure, a potential dinosaur skeleton, and a long lost father definitely raised the bar.

Okay, now to check if there is a third book 🧐

Good book two.

I didn't love this book as much as the first book, the whole demon possession thing was just out of place in my opinion. I was also disappointed Millie didn't tell her dad he was her dad at the end. But I was happy there was a Pamela worked into the story lol
