A collection of fine poems, Dance In The Rain, is a beautiful book to read and reflect upon. Yes, the author has poured her heart out to smear the pages with a bounty of emotions and feelings that touch our skin every now and then. We try to escape the surge of emotions but such works of poetry trap us into immersing ourselves in them, all over again!

The anthology has poems on varying subjects - from love, dreams, the courage to rise again to the plight of a woman subjected to ordeals. They are well-written and presented. The flow of thoughts is palpable as you move along the course of the poems rich in vocabulary and subtle expressions. A few of them are very interesting which touched my heart. Through the poems runs the searing pain and blooming love that would tickle you and might even leave you in the lurch to ponder over its gravity.

Poems like 'I don't know why' just mirrored my own state of mind and hence, it's my favorite. Seriously, the readers would find the poems expressing their own lives. They would see themselves in the ocean of words. Each poem will find a way to your heart or maybe, even to your soul. This is the real beauty - reading something that you have been feeling for long!

So, the one who finds immense pleasure in reading the poetry and is willing to run his eyes through the delightful works of poetry, Do read this book! The book has something really good to offer you.

Serene read

The emotional pain of a breakup, the grief, and engulfing shedding of dismay, the trauma of a lost lover, the fear of a little girl, the voice on social stigma whatnot author alleviates her opinion on myriad topics. It's an amalgam of ballads encrypted with emotions ranging from physical distortion to desperation, loneliness of betrothed.

Is it so because I read it in the dusk? or I was exhausted due to a hectic day? I only noticed the gloomy part of the book engulfed with full of emotional turmoil though there are hope and enthusiasm in a few of the verses.

Does our mood influence what we read? or the one which we read influences our current mood?
For the second part definitely, the author should have the artistic expression to deliver and make one decipher in their world by reading.

I guess the author has this ability to drive anyone and make thought-provoking. Yet it disappointed me with citing painful, emotional distress. Not to mention in a negative aspect but break up sting, emotional turmoil, dark shade themes definitely make one feel low. Rest of that it is spellbound.

I liked The Land of the Thundering Dragon – Bhutan and The Triple Cry stanzas among the most which showcased her efficient writing skills.

Only due to that gloomy part (it seems to be gloomy just because she succeeded in Presenting the exact feel of those characters in her passages anyways) I give this an overall rating of 3.4/5.

Shreya Dutta, through her book, would indeed make anyone dance in the rain of emotions. Her book, a collection of poems, written during the course of her school days truly paint on canvas the maturity she gained at an early age. This book evokes romance, betrayal, and resultant catharsis in equal length and breadth. Through her poems, she has wonderfully captured the issues of child abuse and triple talaq, the essence of love, the pain of heartbreak, and passion she had for her dreams which encourage her to break every limitation coming her way. “Dance in the Rain”, thus, is a coming-out-of-age collection of poems which aptly reflect the growth of the writer from youth to adulthood, shedding her imaginary persona and embracing her real self. In the end, it will leave you with a unique style of poetry writing, aptly displayed in the first and last poems, where she weaved the words in a lyrical fashion to embed her name ‘Shreya’ and the country ‘Bhutan’ in wonderfully composed stanzas.
