Marie Savage is a self-published contemporary southern romance author who has a love for family, friendships, patriotic spirit, and hometown pride.
Born and raised in the Florida Panhandle, she has always had a love for reading and writing, with the romance genre being her obvious favorite. Her desire to expand her horizons, led her to join the United States Air Force and proudly serve her country for six years.
While stationed in California, she met her true love and together they have shared life's beautiful joys and tragic losses. After spending over half her life in the Central Valley of California, she has moved back home to the Wiregrass area of Alabama, where her passion for writing first began.
There was Marla, Vicky, Tina, Ashley whom he had a threesome with. None of them were the heroine Aime Jo, which btw he forgot all about Tina when he saw the heroine.
Luke had met his share of women all across the U.S., but the country boy in him still preferred the sweet as honey kisses of a southern girl. Luke was not ashamed of his promiscuous lifestyle. It is the way he preferred it. He didn’t want an insecure girlfriend wondering if he was being faithful while he was on the road. Worst of all, he didn’t want a wife sitting at home, crying because he was away so much, or kids only seeing their daddy for a few days each month.
If there was one thing Luke McIntyre was good at, besides driving, it was pleasing women. In fact, he had built up quite the reputation of pleasing many women on his travels.

An excellent story . Luke: living the life of an Asphalt Cowboy, on the road hooking up no strings attached . Aimee Jo : Leaving sadness and an abusive ex behind to pursue a dream. Aimee Jo's car is stolen with all her belongings, she's not going anywhere now. Luke just can't walk away. Seems like he is about to break his own rules. Maybe they are just what the other needs. I recommend this to everyone 5 stars
What originally caught my eye when I came across Asphalt Cowboy's Girl, was first the cover graphic. I'm a sucker for pictures that tell a story. Secondly and more importantly, was the information I read about the author, Marie Savage. She's served our country in the Air Force, that's an automatic check next to someone I would want to support. As I continued reading about Marie, I read her note that spoke about how special this particular book was to her. Marie's husband is a truck driver. Can you imagine the nights away from your husband that could lead to some seriously juicy romance writing? I suppose that my training as a teacher, has always aimed my focus on the author and their purpose for writing when selecting what I will spend my time reading and now writing/blogging about. As an author, if you have a passion from personal experience, you have the gift of a special sense of what your audience wants to read. I found this to be the case in this quick and easy read, Asphalt Cowboy's Girl.
The book is jumps right into a flow of fun and flirty dialogue and action that reads like a scene playing out in front of you. No big tricks, no major dramatic elements to get through, other than life. Which I guess is a paradox in itself. I felt a sense of relief reading a book that was a sweet romance with a sexy relationship building along the way. Marie didn't need millionaires, movie stars, CEO's or any other intangible figures to advance her story. In fact, her characters were a truck driver and a girl on her way to Los Angeles. Truck stops, non-wash board abs, and a Tex Mex restaurant with a jilted one night stand were sexy! Sometimes it takes a well written kiss to make the simplest of stories sizzle.
If you are looking for a quick read for a long evening in, or just a change from the stereotypical romance genre that is overflowing with fantasy lifestyles of the rich and complicated for seven hours of your life, this is a fun read. You won't believe what those Big Rigs are actually hiding...
This is the first book I've read by this author and I really liked it. I liked Luke and Aimee Jo and the way they were together. I was really hoping Aimee Jo would have made it to her audition but I understand why the author went the way she did. I look forward to reading more by this author. I would really like to read Hud's story!
enjoyed this book. I really loved Luke. Reforming cads are one of my favorite types of heroes. I really enjoy the moment when they realize their behavior isn't really getting them anywhere. Aimee Jo makes for a great heroine, too. Even though life keeps kicking her in the teeth, she just soldiers on. Watching their relationship build was fun. I also really liked Luke's friend, Hud. All in all, this was a good read. I look forward to revisiting these characters.
Asphalt Cowboy – a man (country boy) who works on the road. he is always gone, traveling to different states due to his line of work. an asphalt cowboy could be considered a truck driver, iron worker, etc.
I was provided an ARC of Asphalt Cowboy’s Girl for an honest review. Asphalt Cowboys Girl Marie Savage
In this steamy contemporary romance by Marie Savage, we meet Luke McIntyre and Aimee Jo Elliott. Luke a loner, travelling the highways with his rig, living life by his terms, finding temporary lovers along the way. Aimee Jo, a young, trusting, naïve woman, fleeing her life in Georgia, hopeful of a new start in California. Unfortunate circumstances have the two crossing path at a truck stop in Mobile Alabama. What should have been an easy 4 days together turned out to be anything but.
This was my first read by Marie Savage. I really enjoyed the overall plot line of the novel. The book was a very easy read and easily devoured in one sitting. The story line flowed seamlessly throughout the entire novel. I also really liked that Miss Savage chose to write the novel from a dual point of view. One of my favourite things about any romance novel is reading it through the males eyes.
While I generally like my lead females to be strong and fierce, I found that Marie Savage wrote Aimee Jo’s character to perfection. Her skilled words brought Aimee Jo to life, as she saw her, on each and every page.
The steaminess really builds in Asphalt Cowboy’s Girl until it was thick with sexual tension. Add in a unexpected threat from a dangerous ex and you having the makings a of a well rounded book.
I desire nothing more that to kiss you, but I don't kiss girls I don't plan on fucking. Do you understand?
Overall I rate Asphalt Cowboy’s Girl 4 Stars. I’m looking forward to reading what Marie Savage will produce in the future as she grows as an author.
Marie Savage is a new to me author, so I wasn't sure what to expect when it came to this book. The blurb and the title had me interested, since it seemed so different from what I am used to reading. And it was very different from what I've ever read. It was original, with the characters and the plot, but the truck driver cowboy thing was also so different, it was so much fun to read!
Luke is the type of guy that's used to traveling the country in his truck, while stopping around the country finding different women in different spots. He is firmly planted in the bachelor zone, with no plans on ever changing it. In fact, he enjoys the player life. He enjoys travelling around, meeting new women, and not settling down. When he meets Aimee Jo, she feels different, the type of different that would normally make him stay far, far away from a woman.
Aimee Jo has had a string of disasters follow her for the last few months. Between ex boyfriends, death, and a stolen car, Aimee is more than just down on her luck. She is moving from Georgia to California on her own in order to follow her dreams, all alone, and she's alone for the first time in her life. She is naturally positive, and believes in God, but God can't help you come up with another $3000.
Along the way Luke and Aimee Jo learn more about themselves and about each other. Spending days on end with only a truck and the interstate to keep you company, you get to know someone very well. Sometimes in the biblical sense, sometimes you get to know someone's mind. And getting to know someone's mind is a dangerous thing. A body you can forget, but when someone's intelligence creeps into your heart and mind, it's hard to get them out.
3.75 Stars I love finding a new author and this was my first read by Marie Savage…it will not be my last! From the first page Luke and Aimee Jo’s story spoke to me, I liked that Luke had a profession as a rig driver that I hadn’t come across in a story before, not saying that it has never been written about, I just know that I haven’t come across it. Life on the road suits Luke, driving across the country never really worrying setting down roots or where he lays his head particularly, he hasn’t exactly been hurting for company but a relationship has never been on the cards…or at least it wasn't until he picks up a hitchhiker…Aimee Jo. Budding country music star Aimee Jo had her sights set on making it big, heading to California to make her bit for success, she is soon rocked to her very core and takes to hitching a lift to get to where she now needs to be. They were captivating, confined in the cab of the rig, they had a sink or swim situation, learning to get along. But it didn’t take long for the penny to drop that the fact the two of them could have a whole lot more going on if they just took the time to cool their heels…perhaps then they would see that all their angst and attitude wasn’t pulling them apart it was actually pushing them together. I loved Luke, I thought his character came across beautifully, yes, he has been a bit of a lad but that doesn’t mean that he couldn’t be something more, especially when it comes to Aimee Jo, I loved when that penny dropped, gotcha! A story that reveled in its emotion, all the while bringing forward a story that was as angst-filled as it was romantic. Well written, I look forward to reading more from this author in the future
A truck driver comes across a young woman who has just lost everything she owns.
Didn't so much like the overall concept, to be honest. Young damsel in distress needs a hero. And thank god, while there are some creepy dudes who check her out in the diner, there is also a guy who checks her out, too, but you know, with this guy it's fine cause he doesn't seem AS creepy AS the others. To me, he still seemed creepy af cause 1) he was looking for a quick lay, and 2) flirting with the waitress while checking out the heroine. Even though (!) he mentions that the waitress lacked something in his opinion (he even tells us she's wearing too much make-up - yeah, thanks for that info but I am so over guys telling women what to do to be attractive!). So naturally he wanted to get closer to the young woman, i.e. the heroine.
So, 14% into the story and I had to quit... All of that was a bit too much for me. Plus, the heroine is really shy but then she was also angry that a guy she didn't know was flirting with the waitress while also locking eyes with her. Girl, just get out of there... Not to mention that her car got stolen, that her stuff was thrown out by the thieves and she doesn't look for all of that (except for the things she got from the police officer)
... Guess I'll rest my case.
Oh yeah, writing style. Sorry It was okay but I was a bit annoyed that a part of every scene ist retold by the other character... That was a bit much. We knew what would happen anyway cause it's a predictable plot so... Why?
I'm not usually a fan of contemporary romance because they all seem to be about the same thing, but I really enjoyed this book. Luke is a trucker who likes the playboy lifestyle since he lives on the road. However, he doesn't lie about who he is. He tells all the girls up front that it's about fun and there are no strings attached and they can decide if they want to proceed. I normally don't like the player types either but Luke was different, he was completely honest and awesome in his own way. Aimee Jo has her car stolen in front of the diner that Luke takes a break in and he decides, against his better judgment to help her out. There's something about her that intrigues him. She takes the help because she really has no other choice. This is their 4 day journey to California. They get to know each other and find that they are incredible attracted to each other. Aimee Jo seems a bit naïve but she's a rough time in the past. Will Luke continue on with his commitment free lifestyle and just drop her off or will they keep in touch after they reach California?
Marie Savage is a new author to me, so my expectation was not high. However, I got to say…I loved Asphalt Cowboy’s Girl. I enjoyed Aimee Jo and Luke’s story. It pulled me in from the first page.
Luke is a rig driver, making his way across America one city at a time or better yet, one women at a time. Lol. A commitment phobe, he only dreams of being single and ready to mingle. But can all that change with one blond beauty?
Aimee Jo has dreams. Dreams that can only come alive in sunny California. Hoping to make it big, she leaves everything and everyone she knows behind and hits the road. Until, an unfortunate event turns her plans upside down. And into the rig of a commitment phobe. Lol.
Can these two make it far along before they kill each other or give their chance to feel more for each other?
I highly recommend. It's an easy read with all the romance and hiccups along the way.
I love books with a strong woman lead and this story delivered that in spades. Aimee Jo was a very strong woman going through a string of bad luck when she had her car stolen at a truck stop, but after a good cry she picked herself up and kept going. I think I liked her because I can relate to her as I am a strong willed and stubborn woman myself. At the diner She meets Luke who agrees to take her to California no strings attached. The sparks really fly between these two. I really enjoyed the ride these two took me on with all the interactions between them. It was fun to see if these two very stubborn people would get together or not. I really hope that these two get another story together.
This was my very first book by Marie Savage but definitely will not be my last. Amiee Jo is a budding country music singer and decides to go to California to try to make a career and leaves Georgia and its trouble behind. But at a truck stop her car and everything in it is stolen without money or a car she stuck. Luke is a truck driver living his nomad life never staying in one spot long and finding lovers whenever he wants. But when he sees Amiee Jo and offers her a ride neither thought theyd have a connection but trap in a cab with eachother there no resisting it. But can they make it more permanent after there ride ends. Loved this story.
A lovely, heartwarming story with the right blend of action and passion to keep the reader turning page after page. Aimee Jo and Luke are a wonderful couple...she dewy eyed and inexperienced, he more knowledgeable of the ways of the world. She is an anchor for him, the woman to keep him grounded and happy. He is her protector and advisor, shoring up her damaged self-confidence and helping her navigate the pitfalls of the world. They are awesome together. Hope to read more about this beautiful couple, and about Luke’s friend Hud and his girl who got away.
This is my very first book from Marie Savage and to be honest, I was impressed how easy it was for the story to suck you in. Luke and Aimee Jo are two characters that are passionate and very lovely.
Their story has so much more to offer and I was looking forward to read more about it but it didn't happen here. I am looking forward to read more about this two.
Don't get me wrong, book was good and it was perfect for an afternoon read.
I volunteerly review an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I recieved a complimentary copy of this book through Crazy Cajun Book Addicts for an honest review.
So this lady is a new author to me and I thoroughly enjoyed Aimee and Luke's story. It pulled me in from the first page. It was a great story filled with emotion, aghast and romance.
Luke is a rig driver, he's had his fair share of women whilst driving across the country but a relationship has never been on his radar, but could that all be about to change when he meets Aimee Jo? Aimee Jo is on her way to California hoping to become the next big thing in country music when her life is turned upside down. She finds herself hitching a lift in Luke's rig. Will they keep a platonic relationship or will the pull they feel towards each other be too strong to deny?
I great story and I'm hoping it's not the last that we will hear from Luke and Aimee Jo.
This is a new author for me, and I cannot wait to read more from this author in the future. Luke owns his own rig, and is confident that he has his life planned out, with plenty of women along the way, but no relationships, just the way he likes it. Aimee Jo is getting away, and wants to become the next big thing in country music. When things do not go to plan, she is forced to hitch a lift with Luke. This is a well written story, and a great page turner, which is filled with suspense, angst, emotion, romance, and is an intriguing read.
Reviewed on behalf of 3 degrees of Fiction book blog. This is my first book by this author, and I thought it was quite a good story. I have never read a story about truckers before, and have to say I would read more of them. Usually I am not a fan of when the POV of one character quickly changes to another character without warning. But in this instance, I think Marie made it work and after I was used to it, I hardly noticed it at all. Luke was a great character to read. He thought he was set in his ways, but after meeting Aimee Jo, he still tried to hang on to those beliefs, but his stubbornness was starting to crack. Aimee Jo is an absolute sweetheart. How she first ended up meeting Luke would have been terrifying for anyone, but I think especially for her as she comes across as quite an innocent woman. There is also a bit of suspense and intrigue with Aimee Jo, and this all adds to make this a great book
This was such a good read the blurb just had me hooked and wanting to see how the story would play out and how the couple were going to be together . I mean have you seen this cover it's perfect for the story line and will draw you in just like the story did . This would be the first book I've read by the author and I know there will be more on the my kindle as soon as possible .
I read this book in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down! Marie Savage told the story beautifully, making me fall in love with Luke and Aimee Jo! I want to read more of their story...and I'd love to read more about Hud! This is well written and easily brings a picture to mind!
This was my first book by Marie Savage. I loved it. Luke was a playboy who needed the one to change his ways. And Aimee Jo is a sweet, southern belle, perfect for our Luke. I really enjoyed the twist in the plot line that .ade the story more interesting. I really hope there is more to Luke and Aimee Jo's story.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. I enjoyed this book.
Such a wonderful romantic read. I didn't want to stop reading even though I had to. It was so easy to see and feel what Luke and Aimee Jo were struggling with. You won't be disappointed with this read!
A sweet Contemporary Romance that tugs at the heart strings and leaves you with a smile on your face. I really enjoyed this and definitely recommend to anyone looking for a short sweet romance.
this was a really good book! she is trying to make a new start only to have her car stolen. now she needs the help of a trucker to get to her next stop. he is a man whore and doesnt do relationships. can she be the one to change his mind? read to find out.
Luke and Aimie Jo's story was a very believable one.there was lots of laughs some sad parts and some mystery. Can't wait for more of their story and Hudson's
I love this story! Marie Savage is an amazing author. I love the sweet simplicity of this book. The characters are hard not to fall in love with, and it helped that they are my fictional neighbors from right down the street in my hometown.
