Valos of Sonhadra #2.5

Galvanizing Sol

Rate this book
I always lose the women I love...
I'd been assigned to visit Earth's Interstellar Penitentiary System, Concord, where my girls were imprisoned.
Stick to the plan, Sol, I tried to tell myself. That went to hell when the prison ship crashed. Well, a little before then. See, the ship wasn't just holding prisoners--they were being used for experiments.
They were torturing them.
They were torturing my girls.
I consider myself a level-headed man, but when I found that out, I lost my sh*t.
Had we not wrecked, I'd have lost a whole lot more.
I knew they were still alive--they had to be.
Somewhere, on this planet where everything wanted to eat you, were the only two women in the universe that I had left. That I loved.
Until her.

This is a follow-up novella for Alluvial and Tempest. Approx 26K words. There's adult situations, a little violence (maybe a little more than a little), and adult language--after all, this IS DaddySol's story.

Valos of Sonhadra was and is a series of books from a group of wonderful sci fi/ fantasy authors.

Two of those authors are Amanda Milo and Poppy Rhys..both are supremely gifted writers in their own right.

Their Valos books focused on a pair of sisters:

Alluvial: Valos of Sonhadra #1 is Preta Sols story by Amanda Milo

Tempest: Valos of Sonhadra #2 is Charlie Sols story by Poppy Rhys

To enjoy this book to the fullest, you do need to read the girls individual books, otherwise you wont have a clue what is going on ...but that wont be a hardship because these books are individually fantastic!!

So....Charlie and Preta Sol, the girls and their tree/dragons ( plus DROGON!! Which must ALWAYS ALWAYS be shouted ) and fish/electricity dudes had their own stories... but by the time us crazed sci fi fans had read them... the cry on EVERYONES lips was..... BUT BUT what about Daddy sol?????

Well... we lovingly pestered our authors until we got what we wanted... a wrapping up of loose ends... one giant happy ever after for the girls and their guys and yes... A STORY FOR DADDY SOL

And what a story!

Gerard Dan Sol. He’s a big gruff sweary marsh mellow of an ass, kicking Major general man... and NOTHING is gonna stop him from finding his girls!

Not a crash landing, not a deranged warden, not even an inhospitable planet with inhabitants that want to eat him at every turn... unless of course it’s a woman...not just any woman... a woman with a heart made of iron... Nori

and thats all I'm going to say..because this is a spoiler free review...and its too good a series to spoil.

Fantastic from start to finish. I adored this book and continuance if the series. I’m so glad that the authors banded together to write this book and let us see what happened after

This is set in the same world as the 9 Valos of Sanhadra novels and is about Preta and Charlie’s dad who they realized was there on the planet looking for them. You will need to read the novels Tempest and Alluvial in this world to understand this novella.

I had trouble towards the end of the story and dialog wasn’t making a lot of sense. But I got fed up trying to decipher it, so I just moved on. The story also got a little discombobulated a few times, and I didn’t know what was going on.

What I did like is we were finally given an idea of why the creators of the Valos left, which was a relief. That was one thing that bugged me throughout the story. So I liked that. I also liked that we got to check back in with Charlie and Petra and see how they are. It was hard for me to picture Sol being their dad, he just seemed to be written as a much younger man. But it was good to see them reunited.

I am giving this story 3 Boundless stars, it was good.

Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry Interesting! This was a great book but it kinda reminds me of an old joke. Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse decide to get busy one night.
Mickey mouse takes his clothes off. Minnie yells out Oh My Gosh Mickey where's your penis?
Mickey replies "Walt Disney forgot to to draw one on"
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd.... That's what I got to say about that LOLOL
Still I enjoyed this book very much.

Sol's Story!!! Given what we knew of him from Preta's and Charlie's stories, I was concerned that he would have even more bad luck with a woman after the crash.

While fast-paced, the story does show how much Gerard Sol comes to care for and love Nori. A huge bonus for me was that we get to see Petra and Charlie have their babies.

This was a cute book with only a little over 100 pages, it is a quick read.

It did answer my questions about what happened to Charlie and Preta and after everything they went through, I am glad they were able to reunite with their dad.

Ok... so I lied yesterday when I said that was the last in the series... This was actually, well I hope is actually the last in the series. This one ties up some loose ends of books 1 and 2 in the Valos of Sonhadra” series.

It was ok... (great review eh?)

I can’t get enough of the Sol family!
I truly enjoy the first two Valos of Sonhadra books, Ms. Milo and Ms. Rhys did a great job integrating their books (Alluvial & Tempest) into a seamless story line that did not miss a beat and this new installment, Galvanizing Sol, just click into the story line as if it was meant to be there from the beginning.
This book gives us a small peek into the live of Preta and Charly while fallowing their father in his quest to find them, I was not able to put this one down, it’s funny and hell, besides having action, adventure, and romance that will keep you glue to your Kindle till the end.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way! Sol rules!
Gerard Sol was placed on the prison ship for short term observation. Then, they crashed. He encounters Nori, a tattered mechanical woman.
A relationship develops between Nori and Gerard as they wend their way across the land in pursuit of their separate goals.
I admire Daddy Sol! He’s given up on women since he always loses them. His focus now is to find his girls! This is an excellent story! It is full of adventure, a delightful sense of humor, and brings the stories full circle in a highly satisfying way.

If you’ve read the first two book in the Valos of Sonhadra series than the hero of Galvanizing Sol is going to sound familiar. It’s the father of the heroines in book one and book two of the series. A mature man with a high rank in the military who is willing to sacrifice it all to save his daughters lives. However, he along with everyone else crash landed on Sonhadra and is having to survive.

Galvanizing Sol shows Gerard survining on Sonhadra on a seemingly fruitless search for his daughters. However, he manages to find help in the beautiful yet slowly deteriorating cyborg woman Nori. As they travel together their bond grows and the heartstone once again comes in to play. I loved seeing the slight paradigm shift so that the sexy cyborg was a woman and the human was a man.

This novella goes exactly how you would expect, but it’s still a fun and sexy read. It also gives a heart warming extra ending for the Valos of Sonhadra series.

Sweet daddy Sol.

In the final installment to Preta and Charlie’s story this one centers mainly on their father Major General Gerald Sol. I enjoyed very much the extra snippets we got into Preta’s and Charlie’s lives from where they left off in their perspective books. Getting to hear more from Charlie’s four made my day as I absolutely LOVE them and of course finally getting to meet the twins and Preta’s baby. Although I’m disappointed that we’re not told who the twins fathers are, that is left a mystery that will obsess me for a while. Daddy Sol was an amazing man, dedicated father and badass. He was a delight to read about, so down to earth, courageous and funny too, a man’s man from head to toe. I just loved his vocabulary lol, it was a laugh riot all the cuss words and phrases he could come up with. The one thing that didn’t convince me was his love interest to be honest. I thought that considering he’s tragic past in which he lost two wives (which we aren’t told what happened to either one, I just assumed they were killed in the line of duty.) he deserved a passionate partner. The focus was so insistent that she be hardy, durable and impossible to kill override the fact that they still could have made her out to be more anatomically female and pleasurable for him. I mean the poor guy hadn’t had sex in over a decade if anyone deserved to get laid the way a man and woman are intended too it was Gerald Sol. The part involving her own sort of heartstone was interesting to read especially the way it affected her. The story was short but sweet with daddy Sol finally finding his daughters after a very long search I might add, discovering he had grandbabies and getting the happily ever after he so justly deserved.

Oh my Goodness! I have read all of the SONHADRA Series , and the very first two books were about sisters. Preta and her sister Charlie . Their adventures on the ill-fated prison space ship the Concord, and subsequent crash on an Alien planet was the premise behind ALLUVIAN, and TEMPTEST. Both stories had me caught up in the horrible experience of both sisters in the Frankensteinianian laboratories and all of the experiment s that were performed in their minds and bodies to make them ENHANCED . For warfare ? Or simply because ,"science "needs to know ?? Who knows, but in each story ,each experiment enabled each girl to find a type of freedom and acceptance on an alien world, that they would have otherwise, probably not known in Earth .
In this particular book , Preta , and Charlie 's has ALSO been stranded on SONHADRAIAN soil, and he is looking for his "girls". Along the way , Daddy SOL , find a companion who isn't exactly what I expected. But was Perfect for Him :))
In all of the escapades that happen, and all of the myriad of spectacular scenery, at the root is LOVE 💘💘💘 Daddy Sol's love for his girls, their love for him, and their love for their families , and new friends. New beginning 's .... And who doesn't want that ?? !!
I thought that this book was a perfect accompaniment to the Sonhadra stories, and am so very happy that these two authors, AMANDA MILO and POPPY RHYS , were able to bring these characters to life !! And I hope for many other amazing worlds and stories of exciting other worldly possibilities !!! Thank you Poppy Rhys , and Amanda MILO. For another terrific read that will stay with me for a very long time !!!

Papa Sol's story. Because when space sucking accidents happen, sometimes the daddy of two of the inmates is in the right place at the right time.

Sol is one of the few survivors who wasn't experimented on. He doesn't have any nifty abilities to help him in his time on Sonhadra, just a driving desire to survive so he can find his daughters and make sure they're safe. FYI, unlike most of the military-based personnel aboard the Concord, he's a good guy. Not just because he's furious about the experiments done on his girls, but because he's a stand-up guy with a working moral compass. (There are a couple others like him, too, but those seem to be few and far between.)

Honestly, Sol does okay when things go bad after the crash. He's surviving. He's found someone who has his back. Then things fall apart. Fortunately for him, Nori steps in and helps him navigate the dangerous world.

As often happens, romance starts to bloom. Sort of. I mean, romancing a cyborg is hard when she has no emotions. Until, you know, she does. Then things get FUN.

A solid follow-up to Charlie and Preta's stories. Since it's on the shorter side, things move quickly, but we get to revisit Charlie and Preta and see where they're at now. Plus, Sol. The guy who risked it all to save his daughters.

*thumbs up*

OOH!! I want a daddy like Sol!

What a delectable little novella! Galvanizing Sol completes the stories of Preta and Charlie, the half-sister heroines of the first two books in the Valos of Sonhadra series. Their father, General Sol, had gone to the prison spaceship where they were captive, his attempt to free them was spoiled by the crash that marooned them all on Sonhadra. Sol has lost everyone who matters to him - wives, daughters, friends, allies, when a strange alien android befriends him and teaches him the way of survival on Sonhadra, and together they learn agin how to live, and how to love. I adored the ending - it put me in mind of the wandering Ulysses, home at last after a lifetime of struggles, to find his loved ones still there for him. I loved Sol - older and wise enough to recognize a good thing when he sees it, he doesn't waste time dithering about Nori's machine origins, he just loves her for her. His open acceptance of his daughters' polyamorous marriages is heartwarming, as is his utter devotion to his hybrid-species grand babies, and their alien fathers. If all older men were this beautiful and brave, no man younger than 60 would be single!!! I thank the authors for giving me an ARC, and I'm voluntarily posting this review, with a recommendation to read this wonderful story, pronto.

First of all, you need to read the first two books in the Valos of Sonhadra series written by Amanda Milo and Poppy Rhys before reading this book.

Gerard Sol lost his wives to tragedy and now his girls are in peril. What’s a dad to do but go after them on an orbiting prison ship. An unplanned crash on a mysterious planet finds Daddy Sol meeting up with cyborg Nori who’s gorgeous and stronger than him. She could be the perfect woman for him.

Milo and Rhys did a sweet job of giving Daddy Sol his happy ever after AND gave us some closure on his daughters Preta & Charlie, too! This novella is the perfect package to complete this series!

The perfect follow up to the Valos books

Gerard Sol is the devoted military father that will risk everything thing to save his girls. He finds the stunning and mechanical Nori after he crash lands on Sohandra and together they embark on a journey to find what they are both searching for. Nori is searching for a giant mutant cockroach thing, Daddy Sol is looking for his girls. Along the way, Nori is blooded and begins to experience human emotions. Gerard and Nori fall for each other, and eventually find what they where both looking for. Bonus- we get to see the baby Valos and Baby Dan ❤️

Poppy Rhys and Amanda Milo did it again! They are honestly incredible writers. As soon as I started reading the book I had to finish. It took me one day! It was that good and I hope they do collaborate once again. I honestly was not sure how I would feel about Daddy Sol's story but it worked.
I gained an appreciation for Daddy Sol and his woman. I think the heroine was completely unexpected but in a good way. I truly enjoyed the way the romance between the hero and heroine developed. I do not want to give too much away, but it was great to catch up on Charlie and Preta and their wonderfully big family. As always, fantastic writing, unexpected surprises and a lot of laughter.

Smooth around the bend

This book filled in a lot of gaps for Charlie’s and Preta’s stories. We find out where their mothers are, what kind of babies they have, and how their father arrives on the planet. Despite all the holes filled, this isn’t one of my favorites in the series.

The writing style was fine. In fact, I don’t recall anything odd pulling me out of the story when it comes to style. Rather it just wasn’t a book that pulled me in and I didn’t connect with the characters.

Likewise, the story line wasn’t all that interesting. It just seemed like it was a simple, but long journey through the woods.

This book is maybe 3 stars, in my opinion.

Omg! Loved this book!

This book concludes the first two books of the Valos of Sonhadra sides. (The best 2 books by far!) I loved the sheer determination of Gerard to find and save his daughters. Nori was such an amazing character filled with idiosyncrasies. I loved the romance that evolved between the two of them. The births of Petra then Charles babies was amazing and detailed. As a mom, honestly, a little to detailed, as it brought back flashbacks. Lol. All around a great story that brought the previous stories to an excellent stopping point.

Galvanizing Sol

Absolutely loved this story and of course the whole world building was spectacular once again. I truly wish there was more stories about this world. Gerard was an awesome hero with Nori being a beautiful addition to the Valos people. They made such a great couple. Loving and caring can happen for anyone. I truly appreciate such a great series with such a touching ending. I am so glad Gerard Sol got his happy ending. I would highly recommend this book and this series.

Poppa Sol Gets His Happy Ending!

Please make sure you read the first two books in the series (Alluvial and Tempest) for a more satisfying and enjoyable understanding of this book. Gerard Sol is the father of Preta and Charlie, two inmates on the prison space station/torture chamber for evil doctors. This is his story of how he tries to rescue his daughters from hell and ends up on a strange planet trying to not only stay alive but find his missing girls. Amazing world building and continued adventure with the Sol family and friends.

Poppy Rhys and Amanda Milo are my favorites! As usual, the only downside is that the book ends. The pair manages to seamlessly create the plot for General Sol and to create an unexpected heroine who is the perfect match for Sol. There is also some catching up with his daughter, which you'll love. Honestly, everything these two create is worth it. Get yourself a copy of Galvanizing Sol -- along with their other novels!

Another one bites the dust

I really liked daddy Sol. He is so protective and obsessive it makes everything good at the end. Nori was interesting character. I really didn't know if I liked her or not. But in the end I really did think she was cool. Why did you kill off Taylor? He was such a good character. I was hoping for more of him. However it did not deter from the story of the flow of the story.

Once again Amanda Milo and Poppy Rhys have blown our minds! Daddy Sol was NOT going to let anyone stand in his way to reach his girls! This book, I know, was a continuance of the Valos series. But it captures the heartfelt emotions of a parent who is worried and intends to figure out what happened to his girls! I love this book because it lets us find out what happens and also gives Daddy Sol a mate for life as well!

So sad the series is over

Loved reading about Gerald Sol. Now we know why Charlie and Preta are so kick *ss. A cyborg on Sonhadra was new. She was awesome. I so enjoyed seeing more of Charlie and Preta's lives with their babies and Valos. The only fly in the ointment for me in this series was that not all the books were in kindle unlimited. I will just have to save my money and buy the others. Really sad the series is over.

I am so happy with this story. It was fun getting a glimpse of the girls life . I love that Gerard got to reunite with his daughters. The real scene stealer for me was Nori who is Gerard's love interest. Such a unique character which I can honestly say haven't read before. This is just a make you smile happy feel good book for me. I enjoy this series hoping for more.

OMG I loved this series beyond what words can explain!!!

Seriously I absolutely loved this series. And I've really only read 3 books. I am seriously going in for more but I had to find out what happened to everyone and when they bad their babies. I also loved how General Sol finalky got his HEA. That actually made me tear up a bit.

What took me so long?

I loved this entire series. So many great writers here. I've been seeing this series for awhile but I never wanted to read it (I don't know why, crazy me). I don't know why it took me so long to read these. I added some more authors on my now top 10 authors I love. I would definitely recommend reading this series. I hate that it's over (or is it?).
