Build UP: “Constructing Your Successful Christian Life to Keep You and Others from Falling”
Welcome to “Build Up”. This is a book about discipleship. After people receive the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, they need to “grow up”.
Jesus said in Matthew 16:18 that He would build His church and the gates of Hell would not prevail, or triumph, against it. He was not just speaking about “steepled-edifices” or the buildings in which we attend church. Jesus was talking about the actual saving of lost sinners from Hell, being given a new life. But getting saved was intended to be the FOUNDATION for a new life. Next, He planned for believers to mature into Christ-likeness. This is called the discipleship of believers. This is “church” as Jesus intended.
It is my conviction that the local New Testament church is the place for believers to grow up spiritually. The Bible says that when we get saved, we are babes in Christ. But we need to grow up! And people grow up in an atmosphere of being built up.
