Catechism of the Seven Sacraments

Rate this book
Join your friendly guides Fulton and Cynthia on a biblical adventure as they journey from creation to salvation and discover the importance of God’s sanctifying grace. Set in a vivid comic-book format with stunning photographs, this book makes profound theological concepts accessible to both the Catholic and the curious, the child and the adult. Following Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI’s teachings on Covenant Theology, this book sheds light on the parallels between the Old Testament and the New Testament and the sacraments instituted by Christ that we experience today. Readers will develop a deeper understanding of salvation history, discover how to participate in God’s covenant, and learn how to obtain grace through the sacraments, which are essential on our lifelong journey to the Eternal Promised Land.

Silly and pedantic, but fun. Definitely a nice, lighthearted intro for youth.

I may nuance a word or phrase differently here or there, but overall this is the most robust children's theology book I have ever read. It far exceeded every expectation I had for a children's book illustrated with Legos. This book has no business being as fun and interesting as it is. Skip the Jesus StoryBook Bible and just read this. Your child will have more scripture and theology committed to memory than any other children's Bible will provide to them. Ask my 3yo to quote the entirety of John 6, explain the events of Genesis 1-3 within the context of the Bible's covenant theology, explain Sunday morning worship and the significance of the Eucharist, or quote their favorite church fathers.

If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. I loved so much about the book - seeing legos centered around the Catholic Mass was neat. I loved the details of all the legos - The crucifixes, the scapulars, the tiny little veils! I also loved the easy chunks of information about all the sacraments. I learned so much about the sacraments in this book and the faith in general. Such a great book that every Catholic family should have! It made me realize the importance of the sacraments and how they are all about leading us back to our Father. This will be a book we come back to again and again. A fun book to read aloud and look at.

LEGO Jesus! This book explores the teachings of the Bible- but it is all illustrated with LEGO scenes! Adam and Eve naked in the garden- LEGOs that have yellow bodies! Pregnant Virgin Mary- LEGO upper body put onto two bricks including one of those convex angle ones. The attention to detail was fascinating.

This book is incredible. My kids have read it cover to cover multiple times. They have learned things from it that I didn't know, and I take my faith very seriously. It is an excellent gift for those receiving First Holy Communion or Reconciliation.
