Shannon, and Jax have a dangerous problem. They accidentally created a bond that will kill one of them unless they stop the curse from happening in time. Jax is going crazy and slowly becoming a psycho, attacks a lot of people, and has a mental breakdown. Shannon is lying down, staring at the sky, and crying to see Jax. Penny is worrying about Darius liking someone other than her, and not being so confident anymore. Darius is going to go crazy and get possessed.
This was an okay ending to the series, filled with a lot of drama. First of all, I really wanted a sort of Avengers End Game sort of ending where all the characters come together to destroy a great evil. Other than small cameos made by Gallen and Callax, they pretty much didn't have a lot to do with the plotline. To show how I felt about this book I compiled some quotes:
"Cal, with his black hair and expressive blue eyes, had always been cute. But Shannon saw just how ill he must have been because the boy standing in front of her was gorgeous."
(-‸ლ)Every single person Shannon meets, she always says they're gorgeous.
"Shannon was not a habitual rule-breaker, nor did she cry very often."
🤨You sure?
(There was literally a scene that could have been a major set-up for an emotional scene about Penny's self-confidence) But then it instantly goes to who has the longest eyelashes and Jax's eyelashes.
Shannon cleared her throat "Green Eyes," she admitted "all one word lowercase."
What...? Your password is Jax's EYE COLOR???
Basically, Revus decides to separate Jax and Shannon to be serparated for a month. It's only been a CoUpLe Of DaYs! But oh no! Jax starts threatening to hurt his father, teachers, and passes out! Shannon feels empty, and starts crying...! Then, literally, when Callax comes to say hi to Shannon, Jax freaks out that they were together and goes to Imbera to talk to Callax? There was also so much talk about marrying, and kissing.
I thought the ending was anti-climatic and the antagonist was not relevant. However, I really like Alex C. Vick's world-building, and really love some of her characters. I will continue on with the Matched in Magic series next.
