A riveting new trilogy about love, loss and chaos by bestselling author Jackie Wang
KNOX One smile was all it took to ignite my obsession. I fell in love with Caylen Mollett long before she became my best friend. And I continued to love her, even when she belonged to someone else. I promised I’d always be there for her…and I’d keep my promise, even if it meant sacrificing everything.
CAYLEN I fell in love with a volatile god; one of the wealthiest men in the world, and my best friend—Victory Wilton. I loved him long before he inherited a billion dollars. And I continued to love him, even when he tried to break us. I made a vow, for better or for worse…and I’d keep my promise, even if it meant sacrificing everything.
VICTORY I fell in love with my smart and sexy roommate. The only one who saw past my wealth, good looks and playboy persona. Caylen Mollett saw me for who I truly was: a sad young man with a broken family and a lonely childhood, and loved me despite my flaws. She loved me long before I spiralled out of control. And she stayed with me, despite my anger and cruelty. I didn’t deserve her kindness, but I made a vow to never hurt her again, and I’d keep my promise, even if it meant sacrificing everything.
Limerence is Book #1 of the LIMERENCE Trilogy. #2 Ambivalence #3 Resilience
Let me first say this book is what I feel to be the Authors best work. The first 61% of it is Knox AKA Tox completely soulful story. His bestfriends are his lifeline, they are that important to him. His childhood and his young adult heart. Vic and Cay were his everything. Until they left him. Well to go to collage. Thats the start of what gets him, that’s what growing up is known to do. Broke with no friends he try’s to deal but life has more in store for him. His story gutted me, I’m placing a big ugly crying warning ⚠️. Then it’s his friends turn to tell the rest of the story. The after math of death and love trying prevail. This 39% of this book is a roller coaster of emotions as life goes on and people change. Seeing things that were unknown before as time continue is hard. I’m left with my heart in my throat when it ends on a cliffhanger. I hate cliffhangers but this story is so deep it gives the reader time, to get over the book-hangover it’s going to inflict, before reading book 2. Don’t worry Ambivalence is coming in a few weeks or so.
This love triangle of best friends had me feeling so many emotions! Cay, Tox and Vic are best friends who promised never to betray each other. The telling of their stories was amazing, and I felt their pain, their challenges, through each of the curve balls life threw their way. The choices they made led them to a point of reckoning, but throughout the book, I felt the angst that came with the feelings they each fought so hard to hide. At times I really wanted to smack each of them, especially Vic, but in the end, we're given POVs that let us into their hearts and minds a little more fully. Awesome beginning, and I can't wait to find out where things lead.
So, this is an interesting story…a bit of love triangle. Three best friends, Knox, Caylen and Victory have been friends for a few years. Caylen and Victory head off to college out of state while Knox stays home and goes to the local college. For the longest time Knox has had feelings for Caylen, but she never realizes. Eventually since her and Vic spend so much time together they become more than friends. There is a lot going on in this story and there are plenty secrets to learn as this story plays out. It's not truly suspense, but there are things happening with Caylen that we only see from her POV that keep you guessing and really shocked me. I really don't want to say too much that would spoil your own journey, but it was an emotional ride.
Knox and Vic have been friends from boyhood. When Cay moves to town she fits into their little group like the missing piece. But all is not how it seems. The three are of different backgrounds, economic situations, but they are friends, their families are friends, so it all works. Knox has always loved Cay, but when she goes off to college with Vic, things change. It's a story of coming to age, even when you aren't ready. It's gut wrenching as these 3 grow and discover life, and try to stay together!
Interesting and heart wrenching love triangle between three friends. Cay, Knox, and Vic are trying to adjust to their new lives after High School. Knox is in love with Cay, but will not voice his feelings to her. When Cay and Vic move away and live together for College, they form an unlikely bond, which causes Knox a lot of heartache. Can the trio survive the secrets? Definitely the authors best work to date, I am very excited to read the rest of this trilogy. There is a lot of twists toward the end of book one, and I can't wait to see what happens next!!
I couldn't stop reading this once I started reading. Tox, Cay and Vic have been friends forever. Now that they are growing up their lives are all changing. Tox has always had a crush on Cay, but never acted on his feelings. Vic is extremely wealthy and even though Tox and Cay are not, it has never affected their friendship. When Cay and Vic move to Boston together Tox is left behind. The changes they all go through and the events that happen to each of them bring challenges to their relationships. The characters are all great. I couldn't help but love them all. They don't always make the best decisions but I found myself understanding why and rooting for all of them. I can't wait to read the next part!
Holy .. wow what a intense book! This book is like a rollercoaster and just waiting for the fall! Tox a man who has secretly loved his best friend and watches her fall for his bf. It destroys you Tox’s point of view that had me in a crying mess. Victory a man who hasn’t had such a great life but Caylen proved to him how wonderful he truly is. Then all hell brakes lose. Just wow I’m shocked and dying to know what happens next in this series! 5/5 stars definitely a must read!
I couldn't put this down, even when it had me ugly crying
I can't remember how I first discovered this author, but I've read and enjoyed quite a few of her books. I really wasn't sure how I'd feel about this, I'm not usually the biggest fan of the New Adult genre, but decided to give it a go. Whilst I really enjoyed her Northbridge series, this has become my favourite Jackie Wang book. This is the first part of a trilogy and does end on a cliffhanger. There isn't any cheating in this book, nor would I describe it as a love triangle.
Tox (Knox) and Vic have been best friends since they were little, growing up more like brothers. In their senior year of high school they allow the awkward new girl in school, Cay, to join their little group. The book starts with them preparing to move on from high school, Tox is staying in Seattle, whilst Cay and Vic are heading to Harvard. Tox has harboured a secret crush on Cay and when he discovers Vic and Cay are going to be roommates he expects the worse....and isn't wrong. However it doesn't take much to turn a perfect situation into a nightmare.
It's very difficult to review the plot of this without giving away spoilers, so I'm going to keep my opinions very generalised. The first 60% of the story is from Tox's point of view and my word, keep a box of tissues handy. Tox broke my heart again and again, his emotions were so visceral yet he never felt weak or pathetic. Even when things were going well there was almost a sense of foreboding. I liked how the characters (aged 18 - 21) did feel a little immature and naive at times, yet never childish or annoying. I really liked them, even when I didn't like their actions....you'll understand what I mean when you read this.
At 60% we switch to Cay's POV and the story briefly backtracks over some events, giving us another perspective and filling in 'missing detail' from events that didn't involve Tox. I really liked Cay and although she seemed to lose herself in her final year of college I guess it wasn't too surprising given all that she was going through. If I have any criticism it would be that I would have liked more reason/evidence/scenes of how things were going wrong for them. It felt a little as though we went from sublimely happy to massively dissatisfied fairly rapidly, and whilst I could infer why, I personally wanted just a little more.
I read this in one evening, I simply didn't want to put it down. Whilst this isn't 'sweet' or 'clean', the love scenes are fairly minimal and fitted the story well. There is bad language but not excessively so, and again more in fitting with the ages of the characters and real life. If you are looking for a well written book that has great characters and all the feels I really do recommend this.
Well this was such an emotionally charged read...it has been a while since I have read a book where so many disparate and desperate feelings are played out in the pages of a book... of course this author is a master at creating truly intense characters with complex backstories who are often both selfless and selfish in their relationships...
This story focuses on the three three main characters Knox, Caylen and Victory...a sort of platonic love triangle...perhaps that is an oxymoron; but read the book and hopefully it will make sense... there is so much angst and I have so say I have a love hate relationship with all of them, for varying reasons.. so many times I wanted to shake them and tell them to sort themselves out and to think carefully about the consequences of their actions.
In many ways this book was a challenge for me because I am not sure I really liked the main characters most of the time, but the plot was so absorbing that I found myself completely immersed in their world and I had to keep reading, no matter what..there is more to come for these three, and I look forward with a great deal of excitement and some trepidation to the next instalment...I received an advanced copy of this book from the author.
Limerence is an emotional read about three friends and how their lives drastically change following high school graduation. It isn't really a love triangle, but there is a lot of hurt and heartbreak throughout the book. My heart really sunk and hurt for Knox. The majority of the book is told from his perspective and boy did I feel for him. I felt his hurt and betrayal. My feelings about Caylen and Victory went back and forth. I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about them! Without giving too much away, I would have liked more detail and depth into Cay and Vic's relationship during Cay's point of veiw. I felt a disconnect from the high they were on to when things got difficult. Overall, though, Jackie Wang has developed a great storyline with great characters. I'm curious and scared to find out what happens next with this trio!!
Well be prepared for this book to put you through an emotional ride. On that will have you at times saying a few choice words.
Three best friends, each a different personality. They vow to be friends for life, but sometimes life throws many curveballs. This is the type of book that you can't write a review that will do it justice. You will cry with, love with and feel scared with all three characters. There will be times you will want to throttle them and times you want to hug them.
I don't want to give anything away but I will say this is one of my top reads of this year. Be prepared to cry, scream, and feel every other emotion there is. The ending was one of those that had you saying What The Heck just happened.
I wasn't prepared, I wasn't prepared!! One of the downfalls of going into a new book blind.....I wasn't prepared for so many emotions!! Now don't misunderstand, I freaking loved this book even though it made me a snotty-nosed mess! It was beautiful and complicated and very intense. It was a total page turner that left my jaw on the floor. I'm eager to see what happens next.
This book was given to me at my request and I provided this review voluntarily
Limerence: The state of being infatuated or obsessed with another person
Yes, I had to look up the meaning of the word, limerence before I read the book. Limerence is a YA story about three best friends, Caylen, Victory and Knox. Parts of the book are in each of their own POVs. Knox is in love with Caylen but she doesn’t know this. She and Victory falls in love as they go off to Harvard. The characters are well developed. Very emotional story as the story moves along. The book does end in a cliffhanger in this trilogy. I am looking forward for the second book.
This is book one of a trilogy and as such ends on a cliffhanger. This is a powerful and poignant read. Well written it has an engrossing plot, and fully developed characters. The storyline evokes strong emotions and sucks you in easily. The relationships and emotional connection between Knox, Caylen, and Victory are complex and complicated. Full of drama, angst, love, and pain. I can not wait to see where book two will take the story and characters. This is my honest, voluntary review.
Knox Tellman has been in love with Caylen Mollett for years but has kept her feelings for her under wraps. He knows his time with her is coming to an end as she and their other best friend, Victory "Vic" Wilton head to Harvard while he remains home and attends the University of Washington.
Their three families are close and spend the holidays together but they soon discover that not everything is meant to last.
As the three are faced with issues involving their parents it seems to bring Cay and Vic closer together and Knox is now on the outside. Cay and Vic begin a life together in Boston and Knox must face that he will never be able to have Cay and moves on with his own life, knowing part of his heart will never be taken.
As the three face their battles within their families they each deal with things differently and will they be able to keep everything together?
Wow - this book was so amazing and took me on quite the journey and I am so excited that I will be getting more of these characters soon!
I seriously loved Knox and I knew deep down that his heart was going to get broken as soon as I found out Cay and Vic would be going to Boston as roommates. There was so much heartbreak at the beginning of the book dealing with family issues and it was interesting to see how each of them dealt with the pressure and stresses.
Cay was a great character but I felt like she was picking up for Vic at the beginning and then there for Vic when he was having trouble. Vic had so much money that he just didn't care what he was spending and it was almost depressing to see him floundering about where he wanted his life to go. He had so much anger inside of him that I was really uncertain about what was going to happen.
Knox begins to repair his heart when he finds Kaitlyn but I was unsure of what was going to happen with them. Part of me was upset when Kait asked for help from Cay and I have no idea if that is going to come back to haunt her.
The end of the book left me with a complete OMG moment and I am curious to see where the next book is going to go as there is so many possibilities!!
I was lucky to get to be on Jackie ARC team and was able to read it.. It was a really great read and it played with my heart string. I enjoyed Did, Vic, and Cay story and I think ypu will to once it is release.. I am looking forward to reading book 2 in the series. 💖
** Reads last page ** I... um... wow. ** Walks away, comes back 30 minutes later **
So, the phrase " we all go a little mad sometimes.". Keeps coming to mind as I try to put into words how I feel about this book.
Phew! My fellow readers, I have to tell you this book is emotional torment! Three friends two guys one girl- it's probably what you think it is- but, I must warn you -it is a whole lot more than you could anticipate as well! ACK! The back and forth struggle, the erratic often cruel behaviors, I throughout most of this mind tornado. I couldn't decide whether or not I felt like any of them are destined to be together! Dark, twisted moments, mixed with the eerily happy times. The plethora of unrequited love amongst the bunch, YIKES! Limerence is not your typical love story, and honestly, as much as I have had to take a breather to wrap my head around the clustery craziness that makes up this beautifully broken insanity, I am all in! I hooked! I want more! I want to see what in the world could happen next! I have so many questions and so many theories.. I LOVE WHEN A STORY HAS ME THIS WORKED UP! ( Maybe not at 12:40 A.M but whatcha gonna do?!) Looking forward to the next book in this trilogy! A book to check out!!
**** Does end in a spectacularly frustrating cliffhanger, but I am confident the next book will be worth the wait ****
Limerence, by Jackie Y. Wang, is the first part of the Limerence Trilogy. A coming of age story featuring a triangle of love between best friends that has its own unique story moving its pieces within the story. Each of the characters (Knox, Caylen, & Victory) are moving about their lives trying to find their place while working towards the outcomes they each believe they deserve or want in their lives.
I am a fan of Jackie Y. Wang's stories and I was excited to read this trilogy. The author's writing style is addictive and engaging which enriches the reader's imagination and captivating their interests. This does end on a cliffhanger, so hold that thought and await the next book of this trilogy. Knowing this author, this is one you won't want to resist.
This is her best book yet! While I received an advance copy of this book I couldn't put it down. Grab a box of tissues and get ready for an emotional journey. The first half of the box is told from the point of Tox and then switches over to Cay's point of view. While it is a little repetitive at time I liked how it filled in some of the missing pieces. The love triangle between the friends was so well written that everything about this story just meshed. There is some strong language however it fits with the story and works with the story and the sex scenes didn't overwhelm the story as some stories do. All in all add to your to read list and get ready for an amazing journey. Can not wait till the next book in the series.
I really enjoyed this book it follows the lives of Knox, Cay and Vic three best friends after they graduated high school. It's not quite a love triangle but in a way kinda is. It's told from all three pov must mostly Knox and omg did I feel for him (holds hand to heart) it's an emotional book that had me crying a couple of times. I'm not going to say anything more (as I don't want to spoil it) other than you won't be disappointed by reading this brilliant book by Jackie I wasn't!
The pace is good and the writing makes you want to keep reading. I was confused by several actions of the characters and found parts unbelievable. I will reserve judement until book two comes out since there are many unanswered questions.
This story focuses on 3 best friends, Tox, Vic and Cay. Up to this point, the 3 have been living the perfect Senior year of high school. But, with Vic and Cay moving in together to go to college across the country, the binds of friendship are tested.
This book took me through a myriad of emotions, betrayal, depression, pride, happiness and envy. There were many twists and turns throughout the book, keeping me glued to each. Every time that the characters perceived that life was perfect, reality would sink in and it would be far from it.
I still don't know whether I want to like or hate the characters in this book, they were written complexly and anything but bland.
The cliffhanger ending was amazing! So many things have changed and I can't wait to see how this story plays out!
