Confident he will learn everything he needs to know from his trusted companion Elk Runner, Chase is surprised to discover through a vision that it is actually others who put their confidence in him. I never thought I'd be a writer, much less publish a book some day. I always wanted to be a veterinarian. I guess life just had other plans for me. When my husband and I decided to start a family, vet school pretty much went out the window. I used to work with a vet who had three children while going through vet school. To this day, she is my hero.
I live with my husband and two teenage sons in southern California. I have a Welsh pony and a miniature horse (down-sized from a barn of six horses). A crazy Labrador retriever who is a food vacuum, three cats, two parakeets, four bearded dragons (my compromise with my sons when they wanted a snake), and a small flock of chickens complete our menagerie of critters. I can’t imagine my life without my animals. My dream is to live in Montana some day.
Four years ago, I began writing a story that, for whatever reason, was stuck in my head for almost a year. I have been an avid romance reader for a long time, and the idea took hold to - why not? - write my own! What a simple idea, right? It has been a long and difficult journey from my first sentence to a completed, and hopefully polished, manuscript. Today, I have a completed series of 5 books and a novella in what I called The Yellowstone Romance Series, two books in my new Second Chances Time Travel Romance Series, and I am currently working on the final book in a trilogy set in the Grand Tetons.
This is a wonderfully written story in the Yellowstone Series, a novella to fill in much needed history behind how Chase Russell has become the man he is in this series. He is admired and feared by many because of his reputation of defeating one Indian tribe who would kill him but he out ran them. Now the rest of the story on how he learned to live in the early 1800's to survive and be the man his wife needs him to be. He time traveled back from the 21st century and now needs to learn to be a wilderness man who can survive in the untamed land of what he now know as Yellowstone National Park. I loved this addition to this series and I highly encourage anyone to read this but to understand it start with Yellowstone Heartsong and then Yellowstone Redemption to read about Chase's adventure back in time then read this one to catch up on the missing parts this author thought we needed to know and wrote from readers requests.
Yellowstone Redemption was the first of Peggy Henderson's books that I ever read, and from then on, I was hooked on Mrs Henderson's writing - and Chase Russell! A further novella with Chase as the central character was therefore something to look forward to. Spending time with Chase as he goes on his journey to prove to himself, as much as to anyone else, that he can survive in the wilderness and be a worthy husband for Sarah, was a delight. The author is skilled at putting together a novella, somehow managing to bring depth and a detailed-enough storyline in a limited amount of words. There is humour, peril, drama, and pure entertainment, and all portrayed against the backdrop of the Yellowstone wilderness. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Yellowstone Reflections. Thank you, Peggy Henderson, for giving me another opportunity to spend time with one of my favourite book boyfriends.
Chase Russel has always been a very favorite hero of mine. I met him in his first book, Yellowstone Redemption, book two of the Yellowstone Romance Series. One that I've reread a few times. This novella adds to his story and has us traveling along with him into the wilderness of the Yellowstone in 1835 on a quest of becoming a confident and strong mountain man, capable of providing for the woman he loves. An unexpected snowstorm, hunger and a raging river are a few of the encounters he made along the way. I love Chase, love his character and I loved watching him grow from a young man to a man worthy of the title, Mountain Man and Husband of Sarah. JudyE
I was intrigued by this novella from the first chapter. I wound up reading it all in one night. Sleep can wait - I had to find out how time traveler, Chase, transformed into a successful survivor in the 1830’s Yellowstone. He is a strong character in two other books in the series. As usual, Peggy intermingled other characters from the series & new characters into the story. I’m not sure how she keeps them all in the right place & time, but I’m sure glad she does. Another “Yellowstone” winner!
As a follow up to Yellowstone Redemtion, this novella provided more insight to Chase and Sarah's storyline, as well as revisiting many other participants in the series. I was provided with a free audible code for this story and while I enjoyed the story, the narrator was just not my personal preference and found it not holding my interest as perhaps the printed version would have so therefore my 4 star rating.
Another charming adventure in the Yellowstone wilderness searching for the reason and learning survival while discovering the beauty of the natural surroundings. This story fills in a few blanks from previous adventures and encourages the reader to continue forward with the family who seems so real.
Chase's Personal Adventure This is another fantastic story of the people in the series of Yellowstone. A personal view of Chase and his personal adventure into his new life. I loved it! Couldn't put it down and wanted more of staying in this time in this story. As usual, this story pulls you in and you don't want to leave. Well written! Great story! Can't wait for more of this family!
As always Peggy has done it again. A wonderful edition to the Yellowstone series. I love that she revisits this series and gives us more of the characters that we love. Chase is a favorite and it's great to read about how he found his way. Can't wait for the next book in the series. As always Peggy. Great job.
I always wondered how Chase became a mountain man. It was a fun ride and a few awesome surprises, and it also answered the question of how Chase ran into Sarah's brothers. Thank you Peggy Henderson for another fabulous journey😃
This fills in a lot of the missing time for Chase as he makes himself into a man Sarah can be proud of. Written with all the detail and clever crafting we've come to expect from Peggy Henderson. Great read! Now I have to go back and re-read the rest of this story!
Another awesome story in the Yellowstone series. Getting to read the adventure of Daniel’s vision and learning to be a responsible mountain man was a wonderful treat. I look forward to the next one.
This is a wonderful addition to the series. I have always been curious about what Chase Russell went through while he was separated from Sarah. I loved finding out.
I really struggled with this book. I use to like the character of Chase but this novella did absolutely nothing for me. It's rather short but it seemed to go on forever.
Chase Russell is deeply in love with Daniel and Aimee’s daughter Sarah. Before he settles into life in the past, he follows Elk Runner’s advice and goes on a six-month “spirit” journey. It’s a trip into the wilderness to look hard at himself as well as to prove to himself that he can make it living there. He wants to know that he can take care of his wife and future children. Through his adventures he encounters dangers and makes some friends. Most importantly, he gains confidence in himself and learns that others in his past also have that same confidence in him. Another great book from Peggy L. Henderson!
I’m a huge fan of this series, so of course I jumped at the opportunity to listen to this on Audible! Now I want to go back and reread the series again! This is a novella that fills in some more of the story! And as with all of Peggy L Henderson’s books — I love it!
