Damaged Rebel Next Door

Rate this book
Holy moly! My neighbor looks dangerous. I got the condo very cheap. Is this why? The divorce was tough. But I finally have my own place. Just me and my cat. If my ex could just leave me be. He scares me. My neighbor doesn’t have that problem. Everyone seems to avoid him. Long hair. Full beard. Tattoos. Muscles. Kian plays by his own rules. It feels oddly safe having him close. Separated by only a wall. I wonder what he does for a living? I hear him come home at night. The huge bike is really loud. Apparently, he also hears me... ***** Damaged Rebel Next Door is a steamy hot romance with no cheating and a HEA. It might not be suited for a younger audience due to the graphic storytelling.

It’s quite simple actually.
I write hot stories about real men and independent women. And it's no secret; I love bad boys.

This is a quick read about a damaged hero who is rough around the edges and misunderstood because of his looks. Our heroine is starting a new life after leaving pain behind only to have the hero swoop in and rescue her when her past comes to town. I liked this book, it ends at the 47% mark though the author does straight that in the beginning of the book so I was ok with that. What I do wish is that the ending wasn’t so rushed. Something big happens in the beginning of the book that brings these two together and it’s never resolved and then something huge happens and bam the books over. There are two really big storylines just left hanging and it also felt like we didn’t get enough of the hero and heroine at the end either.

This isn’t a bad book by any means but it almost feels like I am rating an unfinished book. There is also a side story that is left unfinished as well making me feel like I stopped this book in the middle. I think I would have liked this one so much more had we had several more chapters to wind everything up in this book. I enjoyed the writing style of this author and the parts of the book I read but again it feels like I didn’t actually read the entire book.

I really liked the premise of this book, but it needed work. Too wordy. Thoughts repeated over and over. Redundant. Took away from the story. Could have been so good.
Book ends at 67%. Then there is a sample of another book.

Blurb:
Imagine being the next door neighbor everyone tries to avoid. Then you have pretty much pictured Kian. Heavily tattooed with ink covering most of his muscular body, long dark hair and a full but well-trimmed beard. A lonewolf and the ultimate bad boy. But there’s much more to him than meets the eye. A lonely and scorn soul silently begging to be saved.

Separated by only a wall, her condo is placed next to his. It was such a bargain when she bought it just a year ago and she couldn’t understand why. A few roaring motorcycles and late-night-escapades later and it all began to make perfect sense.

But loneliness and tragedy aren’t exclusive to anyone. Katelyn certainly knew all about that, but no one else saw her scars. Not even her cat. Who would save her?

Do everyone deserve a second chance in life, or just some?

This book is about pure feelings. There is a storyline but it is in the background and not as important as what the characters are doing. Two emotional crippled people who come together in a series of mishaps, they think they have nothing to give but ultimately love evolves between them in the final act.
Got really into this book and I don’t normally read books like this but I think I’m converted

DEAD WIFE and NEEDY HEROINE

## Disappointed. I was so intrigued by the synopsis, but unfortunately it didn't mention that there was a dead wife involved. I hate stories with dead wives. The guilt and the comparisons are brutal to read through. However, because I'd already invested my time I decided to continue for now. Mistake. The heroine started to creep me out, practically stalking the hero even though he'd already told her he wasn't interested. Two pet peeves of mine. Dead wife and a needy heroine. Ugh! No thanks.

Huh? Where is the rest of the Story? It feels like this story ends in the middle. The author wrote a major twist and just ended it there... If there would be a second part, I would have given it four stars, maybe all five... Is there really no part two? It really could have been amazing.

So many typos I lost count. Rushed ending as though even the author got bored with these characters and the story. This was a hot mess!

This is a fantastic book, well thought out with great characters that are dealing with problems and demons that are so real.
Katlyn is a Home Interior designer, she has been for the past year and her fledgling business is really taking off. She is just now starting to feel like herself again. It has been a year since she divorced her abusive husband John Robertson of two years. The condo that she bought was a great deal but it wasn’t until after she moved in that she realized why. Her next door neighbor would come home at all hours of the night riding is loud motorcycle, and by his looks she knew instantly why nobody complained about him. He was broad and tall, he looked to be very tough with tattoos everywhere on his body. She didn’t really know him but the night that he was brought home by the cab he didn’t make it to his front door before he passed out in a drunken stupor in front of the condos. She was afraid that he would get sick laying there face down on the ground and suffocate if he got sick, she didn’t want him to die out there or have the neighbors complain so she went out to help.
Kian is and ex-police officer though you would not be able to tell it by the looks of him now. He owns a tattoo shop and is a silent partner with another man in a very well established restaurant. He is fighting his own demons when an Angel comes out of nowhere and helps him to get inside of his condo, but not before he spews all that is in his stomach all over the bushes out front. She helps him into his home which is surprisingly tidy to her, and makes him promise that he won’t die if is leaves him alone.
Not long after that Katlyn gets a phone call from her ex wanting to talk to her. She has spent a year trying to get herself back together again and she is going to stay strong this time and tell him off; all the time recording the transaction on her cell phone. He doesn’t show up that night but the next day he is there parked in front of her home in a shine black sports car parked halfway on the side walk. He follows her to her condo where she lets him in. She gives him a limited amount of time and then she proceeds to tell him what she thinks about him after he tell her that he is taking her back with him and she is to be his wife again. She tells him off where as he begins to beat her up, choke her and bash her head into the wall several times. She can barely see his fist coming at her again and closes her eyes waiting for the blow to come; a blow that never comes. Kian is there and he is giving her ex the lesson of her life.
Both of these people or fighting their own demons, but they know that what they have found in each other is special. Can they overcome those demons and make a future for themselves or will they just go their separate ways.

The synopsis sounded great and therefore got my attention and I grabbed it.
I give this book a Satisfying 1 Star, it deserves 0 actually.

HEA? If you wanna call it that... I guess.
It’s a Stamped HEA.
Which means this is a HEA, if you like it or not.

There was so much going on, you didn’t get a sense of how much time passed AT ALL.
I don’t respect authors who blatantly end a book with no REAL answers...
Honey I AIN’T talking about a Cliffy, I mean a BONAFIDE ‘That’s All Folks’ Ending, I Mean Seriously am I really supposed to believe this a HEA?!

It was literally as if the author threw all these drama scenes in, therefore you’re left wondering what the hells bells is gonna happen, adding a weirdly and astonishingly FAST insta-love that seems theoretically impossible, boring bed scenes, then dump a ‘little’ more drama and THE END.
Yup, No answers, AT All.
As if she just said.. Well... I can’t come up with anything else to finish the book, so I’ll just end it right here to piss everyone off.
I’m glad it was free cause boooooy.... I woulda been PISSSSED if I spent money on this.
Congrats author, you made it to my ‘Never Reading This Author Again’ shelf, I made just for you.

Not a rebel, but a definite Alpha male...

...yet sensitive, wounded from his past and burying his pain in work and alcohol. Which doesn't explain his rock hard physique, but hey, suspension of disbelief.

She's also damaged, with a difficult past and strong attachment to her elderly cat as her main relationship. They rescue each other, probably not a spoiler given the genre of "books with drool-worthy guys on the cover."

Overall, it's well written, though could use some stronger editing. There are some tense changes and almost-right words that can jar the reader out of the narrative, like envelope for envelop. The ending seems to be abrupt, an unfinished promise of a happy resolution that feels like a lead to a sequel, though not a cliffhanger.

An example of the writing:

"His heart hammered violently. His entire body came alive and so painfully aware. He skimmed that delicate skin, so very gently, lightly, almost not touching her at all. She was fire. A d@mn pillar of fire standing there, burning him, consuming him. His hand didn’t feel like his hand at all, his arm burned, his body sizzled with electricity. He forced himself to be gentle when he pulled his hand away."

My heart melts for Kian

Melissa Devenport has a way of writing male characters that simply melt my heart. Kian is definitely no exception. Put him together with Katelyn and the pairing is perfect. Two people broken by their pasts and unable to see happiness in their future. Together they help each other heal and find a love that they never knew existed.

This is a second chance love story that will pull at all of your emotions. It is a journey two people must follow through heartache, loss and eventually love, in order to claim the peace and happiness they both truly deserve.

An emotional story, but one that I am so pleased I read. Once again Melissa you have surpassed my expectations.

A gritty down-to-earth story of complex life situations. The main female character has a real core of inner strength, yet at the same time, she has a velvety softness to her being. The main male character oozed sexuality. His inner machinations were tortured due to a horrendous past trauma. The beauty of the main female character parlayed into having a nutcracker effect on the main male character by cracking open his hardened shell of defenses. An evocative story of many real life circumstances done up in a sensitive manner. Good read! :)

I received an advance review copy of this novel and I am leaving an honest review.

Not what I expected. It is much better and more. It has heart and passion. Characters are likeable and well described. The story is well written and has a nice storyline and plot. It is a story that is almost beautiful because of the writing style and use of words.

I like it is written in dual POV, which gives the reader both the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. That makes the story even more emotional and captivating. The twists and turns are so unexpected that they made it worth the read.

I received an ARC copy of this book. I have read and reviewed it, therefore giving my honest and voluntary review.

I must say first this was a beautiful and thought-inspiring tale of redeemable love. From beginning to end this story held a part of me that just wept at its beauty. Inside is the largest felt hurt and pain of loss. Also inside is the story of two people who were so damaged that they fought for a love they didn't think existed anymore. This story is the one to read if you are looking at new found love and the willingness to grab it!!! 5 STUNNING STARS +

I love this, the story is emotional and sweet, I was captivated from the beginning and felt such heartache for Kian and his situation and so glad that Katelyn was there even though she had her own share of hurt. I won't elaborate, but I will say this is one book I couldn't put down.

This is an awesome second chance romance. The emotional storyline is well-written with heartbreak, loss, love and the journey from tragic pasts into a better future. The defined characters are likable, relatable, and must overcome the damage to their hearts in order to move to a HEA. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

The book cover with the story name damaged rebel desbribed clearly described what one can expected from this story. The description of Kain on the front page is exactly who he been seen to the outside world. A rebel on his bike
Katelyn his next door neighbour is an interior designer and a workaholic with a Hugh clientele list. one day after she got home from work to feed her cat, she heard the rebel's bike. She watched him parked his bike in the spot next to her spot. an unfamiliar shiver travelled up her spine
Then her nemesis John Robertson contacted her and she's willing to meet him the next day at her condo and supplied him with her address
now the story start to get very interesting. This is a must read book
easy to read, with flowing text through out the book. A very realistic characters and story line. Action packed,
witty remarks, ego boosting, promptuous ass hole, the defending of a woman's honour. confessions, death of family members

What the heck

Just when the book starts to get good it ends. How does everything work out? What about his business partner's daughter? Does he really get over his past with what's happening next? Need answers please geez. I wanted drama with the business partner's daughter and partner thinking she will cause problems now that he found someone and she runs to daddy, since it was applied in the beginning of the book if he doesn't play nice. I was waiting for that but the book just ended 😡 bummer. I hope this Author does a book two.

GreatJob

This author has done a great job with this book .There's not anything that Melissa Davenport writes that I want read. This book was kind of unique because when we read most of us want to see if fairytales do come true.Instead of magic carpet rides she gave us real life problems that each and every person has to deal with, problems that makes you wonder if you will be able to go on,problems that makes you cry.She gave us life.
